House House were the incident happened Wonders they said will never end. A 30-year-old man, Nelson Oamen, has allegedly killed his father at Block 270, Abesan Estate, Ipaja, Lagos at the weekend. Oamen stabbed his 74-year-old father to death, removed his heart and ran away with it. According to an eyewitness and neighbour of the suspect, Kazeem, the young man had been acting violently for the past three months before the ugly incident happened, while neighbours have consistently advised the man’s parent to take him away to a rehabilitation centre. He said: “The boy has been committing some petty crimes in the area before he eventually murdered his father in cold blood. Oamen had consistently threatened his father, blaming him for his failure in life. He recently robbed a recharge card vendor and also raped one woman in the area.” Asked how he got to know about the ugly incident, Kazeem said he was told by another neighbour, who overheard the old man’s screams, but to their surprise, the deed had already been done with the man fleeing immediately, before they could mobilize themselves to the scene. The suspect’s sister, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said her father, Ehiramen Oamen, had been managing partial stroke for the past four years and he was just recovering before Nelson killed him. The woman, based in Abeokuta, Ogun State, told The Guardian that the immediately the incident happened on Friday night, she was informed and had to rush to Lagos on Saturday. “My younger sister who stays with my father established the fact that Nelson allegedly killed my father. She said she only came upstairs to change cloth when she discovered bloodstain on the floor. The young lady later traced the bloodstain to a spot where she met their father in a pool of blood while his face was covered with cloth. Meanwhile, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Joe Offor, has confirmed the incident, adding that the police is beaming its searchlight on the suspect, who is on the run, for further investigation. [size=14pt] Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another milestone in the fight against crime in the state, even as the new Commissioner, CP Murtala Usman Mani, psc, vows to make life unbearable for criminals in Akwa Ibom. To match words with action, the State Police command had on Thursday, 3rd September, arrested two suspects who specialise in the production and distribution of fake and adulterated wine and hot drinks in the State. The suspects are; one Unyime Monday Udoh, Male, and one Nsidibe Sunday, Male, while one Dennis Johny, Male, the owner of the illegal factory is at large. According to the police, the suspects who were arrested by the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) after a tip-off, used to produce the fake and substandard products in an unhygienic and unregulated environment with fake NAFDAC number. The premises of the production factory according to the Police, is located at Ekparakwa, Oruk Anam Local Government Area. It was gathered that the suspects, after the production, distribute the products and sell to unsuspecting members of the public at the same rate as the original product which cause a lot of health hazards to consumers. While lamenting over this sad incident which has taken lives of many unsuspected consumers, the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cordelia Nwawe, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), described the incident as an unfortunate one, and promised that "the State Police Command under the watchful eyes of CP Murtala Mani, will go after every person behind this act and prosecute them accordingly. Some of the items recovered from the suspects are Volvo wagon car stocked with cartons of adulterated Eva wine, a bowl of chemical believed to be ethanol with colour, cartons of Omega Aromatic schnapps, labels of assorted drinks, cartons of St Remy whisky, Hennessy, Three Barrels whisky, Ponche, Martino, 501, Chelsea, Squadron and many more. ASP Nwawe, on behalf of the State Police Command, however advised the general public to be wary of where they buy drinks, beverages and food items in order to prevent any negative impact on their health. Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, has assured the people of the state of adequate security of their lives and property, urging them to be of help to the force in the State, by giving useful information to them. A boy using shovel to share food at the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Maiduguri, also called Yerwa by its locals, is the capital and the largest city of Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria. The city sits along the seasonal Ngadda River which disappears into the Firki swamps in the areas around Lake Chad. Internally displaced persons, or IDPs, are among the world’s most vulnerable people. Unlike refugees, IDPs have not crossed an international border to find sanctuary but have remained inside their home countries. At the end of 2006 it was estimated there were 24.5 million IDPs in some 52 countries. The region with the largest IDP population is Africa with some 11.8 million in 21 countries. As citizens, they retain all of their rights and protection under both human rights and international humanitarian law. There really need our prayers. Switzerland has completed the construction on the world's longest tunnel. This is the longest and deepest train tunnel in the world. The Gotthard Base Tunnel is a stunning feat of engineering.Workers have bored nearly 100 miles of tunnels into the Alpine mountains, to create a route between the two Swiss cities of Erstfield and Bodio. The Swiss Alps are an unforgiving landscape of rugged, rocky peaks and lush, green valleys. Connecting communities that would be otherwise isolated by the vast mountain range — including cultural and economic hubs such as Zurich, Milan, and Turin — is no easy task. Tunneling and track-laying for the 35-mile NEAT Gotthard Base Tunnel has been completed, making it officially the longest tunnel in the world, surpassing Japan's 14-1/2-mile Seikan Tunnel. Swiss authorities held a media day inside the tunnel on Monday to announce that most of the technical work for the tunnel had been completed, the Swiss newspaper TDG reports. Testing will begin October 1 in anticipation of the first passenger and freight trains in June 2016. Most of this area — inhabited by approximately 111 million people — is relatively flat, except for Switzerland’s notorious Alps. The Gotthard Pass has proven itself a vital link between Switzerland and northern Italy for hundreds of years. This new tunnel has been financed entirely by Switzerland, at a cost of approximately $10.3 billion. Travel time between Zurich, Lugano, and Milan will be shortened by an hour once the tunnel opens to passenger service in June 2016. Real Madrid and Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the most charitable sportsperson in the world for the second time. The list, compiled by the organization DoSomething, put the star on top of the likes of John Cena, Serena Williams, Neymar and LeBron James. The 30-year-old footballer has a well-documented history of donating money and time to various charities and good causes. Earlier in the year he donated $83,000 to a young fan who needed vital brain surgery when asked to donate some of his old kit to auction. He also provided $165,000 to a cancer centre in Portugal and reportedly donated more than $7 million to organization aiding Nepal after a deadly earthquake. He has also donated money to help a Real Madrid fan who needed expensive experimental medication to help fight spine cancer and raised funds in 2004 after a tsunami hit Indonesia. Ronaldo also acts as an ambassador for a number of charities such as UNICEF, World Vision and Save the Children. He even goes so far as to avoid getting any tattoos because of the risk of cross contamination or an infection, which would prevent him from donating blood twice a year. Traveling the world once in a while and spending $$$ is good. Singapore Night Safari is the world’s first Safari park for nocturnal animals. Today, the award-winning park welcomes about 1.1 million visitors a year. People come from all over the world to enjoy the unique experience of seeing over 2,500 animals representing over 130 species in their naturalistic day and night time habitats. My Visit to Singapore was not to go to a museum, zoo, or relaxation park, but purely on a business trip. But as days turns to weeks; I decided there is a need to explore the rich country of Singapore, since adventure is part of my hobbies and lifestyle. Before this period, Singapore Night Safari was on my mind as I have heard a lot of news from friends residing in Singapore and Malaysia. This is one of the more unique zoo experiences of which I’ve heard — it features exclusively nocturnal animals and lets you walk around on trails in a cage-free environment. But first, you should know two things before going to the Singapore Night Safari. To be the best parent in the world, your kids need to visit this place and believe me they will adore and love you the more. Secondly the calmness and friendly the zoo posses. The Singapore Night Safari is a free park, the animals and their eyesight. It opens at 7:30pm and closes by 12:00am; but you need to go there early with your ticket so you can be accredited to enter, you can as well buy your ticket online or at the point of entry. I decided to buy mine online through an agent for easy access and fast accreditation. There is so much to see, and it’s worth having an extra time to explore at your own pace. Taking pictures with flash is one of their ‘don’t’ especially at night; so as not to scare the animal and also to avoid the animal from being wild. You will agree that you won’t get any good pictures, especially in the night while the tram is moving but for the experience. My evening began with scantily clad male dancers performing at the entrance for first entertainment. The ‘Thumbuakar warriors’ entertained us with their fire spitting skills as well as fire eating abilities. The Tram ride: The highlight of the evening would probably be the tram ride. Once inside the night safari, you will face scores of human traffic queuing up of the tram ride. The forty-five minutes ride took us through the entire Night Safari, showing us the animals in their recreated habitats. On the tram, our tour leader shared lots of interesting animal facts, history and origins. Strolled into the realm of the animals at our two giant aviaries where the Malayan flying foxes and giant flying squirrels which can come right next to you. The aviaries are along the Leopard Trail where you can get within a whisker of the beautiful leopards from their dedicated glass observatory, the Tiger eating her prey as well as Lions taking their dinner. Hippopotamus may be vegetarians, but that doesn’t mean they won’t eat you. They’ll chew you up and spit you out. According to facts from the tour guide, there are about 300 lions left in Asia — all of them in India. Elephants need to be separated from their babies because they will fight and/or kill them. Rhinos run very fast, but not for long. If you’re chased by a rhino, your endurance very well could save you. A visit to the walking trails. You get to walk around deep in the jungle and get up close to the animals. Hmmmmm I was afraid; likewise my team mates. But the guide tour reminded us that there are trained security guards that takes care of the zoo and are stationed at strategy places should in case any animal became wild. I think this is what really makes the Singapore Night Safari different from other zoos in the world, it was really interesting. Have you heard of the flying ‘squirrel’, visit Singapore Night Safari and you will be surprise with the little dude. My experience with the excellent tour guide far exceeded my expectations. He got us through the lines quickly, and was so knowledgeable about the animals and flora and fauna. I really felt I was on a 'private' tour. I had the opportunity of visiting the River Safari and it was fantastic. Evening Show But for me, the final part of the Singapore Night Safari was Safari ‘Creatures of the Night Show’ which featured some of the animals showing off — a raccoon that really knew how to recycle, a smoky leopard, even a wolf. This was definitely more of a show for kids, but it was a lovely entertainment night show. The highlight, though, was when they reached down into a box below people’s seats and pulled out a reticulated python called ‘Maggie’, one of the world’s longest species of snake! Also you will be amazed by the power jaws of a spotted Hyena, as it show you its ability to leap for prey. Summary: Starting with informative and exiting tram ride through the night safari, followed by a guided walk along the trail to see the otters, deer and other animals. Concluding with a very tasty dinner, where I have a good taste of food in their traditional village ambiance of Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant. This is truly an after-dark wildlife adventure that is one-of-a-kind experience I will never forget in a hurry. Singapore Night Safari is managed by Wildlife Reserves Singapore If you are in Singapore and want to visit Singapore Night Safari. Na wa oooo...nothing we no go hear... A woman calmly called 911 to report her baby son wasn’t breathing on Tuesday and then hours later confessed to killing him and her two other young sons over the past several months because her husband ignored their daughter, authorities said. Brittany Pilkington was charged with three counts of murder and was jailed, said police in Columbus. Pilkington is accused in Tuesday’s death of 3-month-old Noah and in the deaths of 4-year-old Gavin, who died in April, and 3-month-old Niall, who died in July 2014. No working telephone number for the family’s home could be found, and no attorney information was available for the mother. Police said officers went to the family’s apartment on Tuesday morning after an emergency call from the mother saying Noah wasn’t breathing. They said she calmly answered a dispatcher’s questions while the baby’s sleep apnea alarm beeped in the background. The baby was pronounced dead at a hospital. Logan County prosecutor William Goslee said he interviewed Brittany Pilkington and she confessed to killing each of her sons by placing a blanket over his head and suffocating him. “In her mind,” Goslee said, “she was protecting her daughter from being not as loved as the boys were by their father.” The daughter, 3-year-old Hailey, was taken into custody by a county child welfare agency. Authorities already were investigating what happened to Niall and Gavin, whose causes of death haven’t been determined. In each of those cases, their father, Joseph Pilkington, found them unresponsive when he got home from work. “Our son’s not breathing,” Brittany Pilkington said meekly to a dispatcher when she called police on April 6 as her husband frantically gave Gavin chest compressions. “He’s turning white.” Joseph and Brittany Pilkington were cooperative on Tuesday, police said. She eventually told detectives that she killed all three boys, police said. “The tragic deaths of Niall, Gavin and Noah leave a pit in our stomachs today,” police Chief Brandon K. Standley said in a statement. “Our condolences go out to the remaining family members who have supported this family through a very difficult 13 months.” Brittany Pilkington’s uncle Joe Skaggs said Hailey and Noah had been with Logan County Children’s Services after Gavin’s death and were returned to their parents this month. “Why would you give them back after a little boy just died and when you’re in the middle of an investigation?” Skaggs, standing in front of his niece’s apartment, told the Dispatch. Goslee, the prosecutor, said Hailey and Noah were given back to their parents after a coroner determined Gavin’s and Niall’s deaths weren’t suspicious. The Pilkingtons’ neighbor James Breaston was home, across the hall from the family, when Gavin died in April. He remembered consoling a distraught Joseph Pilkington but finding Brittany Pilkington unperturbed. “He was crying, the tears were rolling, and she was just cold,” Breaston told the Dispatch. “She just stared like nothing happened.” He said that when saw police arrive on Tuesday morning he thought, “Oh, there’s another baby dead.” Source: http://www.enrichnaija.com/i-killed-my-3-sons-because-my-husband-loved-them-more-woman-confesses/

Feed your partner well and 'she'll be more interested in romance' It's long been said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Well, the same can be said for women, according to a study. It found that they were much more interested in romance on a full stomach than when they hadn’t eaten. Brain scans carried out while the women viewed a variety of images showed that the women were ‘significantly more responsive to romantic stimuli after a meal than prior to it’, the researchers from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and the University of Pennsylvania said. A new study has found that while it's long been said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, the same can now be said for women Dr Alice Ely, who led the research, said: 'We found that young women both with and without a history of dieting had greater brain activation in response to romantic pictures in reward-related neural regions after having eaten than when hungry.' For the study, the researchers asked a group of normal-weight female students to fast for eight hours before showing them a variety of neutral and romantic images while they were inside an MRI scanner. When in this hungry state, their reactions to the neutral images – such as a bowling ball, a tree, and a stapler – were the same as their reactions to romantic images of couples holding hands or embracing. The women were then given a chocolate-flavoured, 500-calorie meal-replacement shake, and the experiment was carried out again. This time the women showed a much stronger reaction to the romantic cues. The researchers suggested that, when hungry, a woman’s focus is primarily on getting some food. But, when that need has been satisfied, she can then pay attention to her other needs, such as sex. ‘Across cultures, food and romantic reward are closely intertwined,’ the psychologists wrote in the journal Appetite. ‘Courtship rituals frequently involve meals or the presentation of food, and while it is certainly a socially-influenced practice, it is seen in the animal kingdom as well. ‘This data suggests that eating may prime or sensitise young women to rewards beyond food.’ The researchers said their results are contrary to several previous studies, which showed that people typically demonstrate greater sensitivity to rewarding stimuli, such as food, money and drugs, when hungry. 'In this case, they were more responsive when fed,' Dr Ely said. 'This data suggests that eating may prime or sensitise young women to rewards beyond food.' Research published earlier this year found that ordering a dessert on a date could also increase your chances of romance. Tasting something sweet made study participants more interested in a potential partner, the researchers from Purdue University found. Sweet foods increase levels of dopamine, a brain chemical which is involved in ‘passionate love’, the scientists said. Now you know the secrets….Take your partner on a lunch, dinner romance fantasy and see how she will response to you during love making.
