While growing up, during secondary school, majority of us took a subject called Agricultural science, not to brag or anything but it was one of my favorite practical subject and I was her best student. My Agriculture teacher then was a very practical woman, we had a backyard in our school, not too big but not cemented. When it was time for Agriculture after we were done with the theoretical aspect, we will head down to the farm and that was where I learned how to cultivate and plant various things, we were lucky in the sense that during harvest we were not deprived of eating from our toils and sweat which many students complained about.

After secondary school, through my university days, I never had the chance to farm until my parents were able to acquire our own land. My mum who grew up in Ghana explained that during her school days, they went through so many home management lessons which included cooking, farming, cleaning, washing and ironing, even sewing as all this were to prepare the children to one day manage their own homes. So when we got our land, one of the plans for the compound was our very own farm. We had issues with our schedules of course, but we were able to work something out. Most evenings and weekends we would clear and make beds and we planted a whole lot of things, from vegetables to cassava to yam to corn to plantain to banana to pineapples to trees like mango, avocado, pawpaw and loads more and there I understood the importance of farming. Experiencing the concept of sowing and reaping on a practical level is something I feel everyone should experience to better understand life as a whole.

We were farming for our own consumption but the little time we were able to put in saved us a lot, money wise. For example, our first cassava harvest was an experience, the tubers were so huge that we couldn’t pull them out ourselves; we had to hire some people who helped us in harvesting. From the cassava produced that first year, we divided the harvest into two parts, we used 70% to produce garri and 30% to produce fufu granted we spent a little money processing the garri but we were able to realize a bag and half of garri. This carried us for almost 6 months as we were a small household, together with the fufu we had. That period the only thing we were going out to buy was onions, oil, spices and meat because our vegetable farm was producing as well, we had ugu, water leaf, bitter leaf, ewedu, curry leaf, tomato and pepper. Virtually anything we needed to prepare a meal was in our compound.

Yes, it took time and effort but in the end it was worth it because while working with my mum I learnt a lot from her, so many words of wisdoms, life experiences and more. It is sad that we no longer make time for family activities anymore due to our businesses, jobs, social media etc. Basically the point I am trying to bring out here is that as a family, we can look for activities that will bring everyone together as one and what better way than by showing them a practical example of sowing and reaping.

From this you can instill in your children the importance of sowing and reaping, of investing because truly we invested in our land and we yielded profits in foodstuffs. Likewise, when you talk about investments, they understand what you mean at that tender age, you can teach them to invest in various sectors and this knowledge will be something that they grow up with. By doing this you aren’t just giving them fish to eat but also teaching them how to fish.

InvestmentMost Profitable Agricultural Product In Nigeria by ifarm(op): 5:25pm On Mar 30, 2021
The Agricultural sector contributes just a little over 20% to the overall GDP of the country even though it can be much more. The agricultural sector is one of the most flourishing sectors of the Nigerian economy. In today’s blog, I will be sharing one of the most lucrative agricultural and farming business ideas in Nigeria

Cassava Farming.

Cassava is the most important tropical root crop. Its starchy roots are a major source of dietary energy for more than 500 million people. It is known to be the highest producer of carbohydrates among staple crops. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), cassava ranks fourth as a food crop in the developing countries, after rice, maize and wheat. The leaves are relatively rich in protein and can be consumed. Cassava can be stored in the ground for several seasons, thereby serving as a reserve food when other crops fail. Cassava is also increasingly used as an animal feed and in the manufacture of different industrial products. It is also used in industrial processes.

More than 291 million tons of cassava were produced worldwide in 2017, of which Africa accounted for over 60%. In 2017, Nigeria produced 59 million tons making it the world’s largest producer.

With the increasingly diverse use of cassava products in Nigeria, cassava farming is getting more lucrative with every passing day. This farm product has always been a source of livelihood and food for millions of Nigerians. 90% of Nigerian households consume cassava products every day. Some of the popular meals made out of cassava are: Cassava Granules (Garri), Cassava-flour(Laafun), Starch, Fufu, animal feed, and a lot more.

As the population of Nigeria and Africa as a whole continues to grow, the demand for cassava products will continue to skyrocket, leading to higher revenues generated by cassava farmers. If you’re looking for an agricultural business that would ensure you always almost sell out all your harvests, cassava farming is one great farming business to start. Don’t worry, you can also be rest assured even if you don’t have the time or man power to go into it, you can always invest through an Agro-investment Company.

Agroreturns has a package just for that, known as the instant Yanga plan, we looked at how you can invest in this plan on our previous post. The instant Yanga plan deals with cassava processing, if you can be sure of one thing it is that cassava products always sells out here in Nigeria due to the high demand of cassava products. So investing in our instant Yanga package will definitely yield profits hence the interest you receive instantly on investing in this package.

AgricultureHow To Successfully Save ₦250,000 And Get Paid ₦67,500 by ifarm(op): 10:36am On Mar 29, 2021
In all thy knowing, please know this and know peace; we are at the end of the third month of this year and entering the fourth month of the year. The First Quarter is almost gone. As we are fast approaching the end of another month, the bills have piled up, budgets are already being prepared, the salary has been spent even before entering our hands but we had so much plans and accomplishments for this year, what have you done to place yourself on the right track? Sadly, I’m also on this table but I’ve decided to break out of it and we can do it together after all what do we have to lose?

Let’s look at our journey since January, so many people made a lot of resolutions right? One of them is to start saving right… How far? How much have you saved so far? Or should I mind my business?

Since saving on your own is not working for you, how about trying investments instead, the beautiful thing about investments is that whether you like it or not you will save that money for a particular amount of time, there’s no temptation of you only live once, let me enjoy my life. But trust People, they are always looking for get rich quick schemes and that is why they always fall victim to the latest fraudulent scheme.

I’m here to assure you that you can successfully invest and save your money without temptation to spend it anyhow. Let’s take this step by step, let’s say you earn for example ₦100,000 naira monthly, it looks large on paper but with the current economic situation in the country, it’s just peanuts right… Okay here’s what you can do, you can set up an Ajo (Thrift) with your colleagues, like ₦50,000 with just 5 people that a cool ₦250,000 right. I’m sure right now you’re shouting haaaaaaaaa it’s too much, don’t worry you will survive on garri, no one will know.

Agroreturns just launched a package called instant yanga which basically pays you your interest instantly for example if you invest with ₦250,000 you get ₦67,500 instantly. Now it will be preferable if you collect first, you can quickly invest in this package and safely lock your ₦250,000 for 1 year three months and get an instant interest of ₦67,500. Don’t get all excited that you’ve got free money to spend anyhow…No, this money is what you will survive on for the 5 months you’re in the thrift.

Now what you have successfully done is saved at a go ₦250,000 that you won’t be tempted to touch until the 15 months is done and you got cash of ₦67,500 for your troubles.

Genius right?

At the end of the 5 months’ thrift you can either decide to relax or to renew the thrift, I’ll suggest you renew cos your renewal has just given you half a million naira. Now while you’re waiting to collect your saved money, you can use that time to make research and verify what business you would like to go into because let’s face it, a good side hustle can go a long way in helping you bring in more income. Most people might be thinking but if I do the thrift, I can just use the money to set up my business without waiting for 15 months. This is true but what will you be surviving on while waiting for your business to kick off and another thing we fail to understand while trying to set up a business is the importance of market survey… this 15 month will be ample time for you to survey your market, establish a business proposal, study people already in the line, what they’ve been doing and the mistakes they have made so you can learn from it. You can also use this period to try and predict the market, that is change in trend, availability, scarcity and much more. So you see my dears, it’s not just about saving and starting up a business, it’s also about using your head and skills to ensure the business doesn’t crash in its first year. You can also check out our website to see more investment packages http://www.agroreturns.com

I hope we have all learnt something important and vital today, I’ll love to hear from you as well drop a comment, let’s rub minds together.

InvestmentOil Palm: Is It Worth Investing Or Not? by ifarm(op): 4:46pm On Mar 26, 2021
A friend of mine had the opportunity to travel to China for a brief visit and so as she was going, she loaded her bags with foodstuffs and among them was a big bottle of palm oil. When she arrived at her friend’s place and started unpacking to give her the foodstuffs, her friend screamed with excitement when she saw the bottle of palm oil. She explained how expensive palm oil is over there and how it was a struggle buying it. I decided to check amazon and I found that a liter of red oil is $12.99 in naira that should be roughly ₦4,900 for one bottle, I was in shock. Something we buy here for around ₦500 to ₦600 and we still complain that it’s expensive.
I started investigating the palm tree and my eyes were open. Looking at the palm tree, it truly is a wonderful tree because every part of it is useful if you think hard enough. From it you can get the fruit bunch which is processed to palm oil, the shaft from the mesocarp is a good fire starting source for those people using firewood. From the palm fronds you can get brooms, you can also use the palm frond itself to make thatched roof which most beach resorts do, from the nut you get palm kernel nuts which can be eaten raw or boiled and from which you can extract Palm kernel oil which has a lot of benefits. I also found out that you can get palm wine out of it. To top it up the palm tree can live up to 200years.

Now imagine investing in an acre of palm tree, apart from the fact that you can get all this products and sell them here in Nigeria, you can also export the products as well and earn a bit of cash for it. I once checked amazon and saw a broom of $34. Palm trees give this brooms virtually for free all you need to do is just shed away the leave from the main vein of the leave. Dry it and you virtually have a broom. Gathering a few and binding it will give you a broom sold for $34 dollars. Now that’s what i call profit.
But establishing this is another issue, there’s the issue of farmland, farmers, processing plants and much more which makes it a bit tedious to establish. Luckily there are Agroreturns-investment companies which specializes in palm tree plantations which you can subscribe to.
Agroreturns recently established a package known as “Palm City Estate” which is for palm tree plantation. With this package you can own from as little as a plot to as large as a hectare of palm tree plantation and get paid for it.
For more information or to sign up, you can log on to www.agroreturns.com
Palm tree is another Agro-investment you don’t want to miss out on. So the answer to the question is yes, it is worth investing in. Try not to be left out of this grand opportunity
