After all, God Himself rested, so who are we not to.

The way the Bible portrays rest of more of like a lesson for us to learn how to rest, it fails to mention that God got tired. But there are portions in the Bible where God is described to never sleep not slumber.

"He that watches over Isreal neither sleeps nor slumbers", and many other portions.
