Fansa25:I would have agreed with you if not that Lagos hosts the world's largest single train oil refinery. |
emperor4love:recently an Indian man was overwhelmed by his religious belief that he sentenced himself to a life time of standing, as a devotion to his god. Meaning he would never sit,not lie down. He carries out activities of daily living including sleeping, on his feet. Others would leave in a cave for the rest of their lives, some would never bath or cut their hair through out their lifetime, same can be found in other asian countries. Now does that make the society less productive, or are they not developing. .Do your research and find other excuses that could at least, appeal to common sense. |
emperor4love:Actually, your post is demoting if one should try to understand it. I'm a Christian but not in any way stupid, and yes I give well to churches. Again go and research on how many idols/gods Indians worship. Separate religion from the development of any country. It has nothing to do with it. Only a fool would believe that, and you, my friend are not a fool.🙏 |
emperor4love:what do you mean by dependency? can a nation be more religious than, the middle and far east, yet they are developing rapidly. Go again and find what the problem of Nigeria is, If you think it's religion, I repeat, you're not very smart.. Or can you be more religious than the Jews who are great scientists/nventors and business men. |
emperor4love:ok let's assume you're smart, now try and do some research, also ask some of your friends in asian countries, how religion is in Asia. |
emperor4love:sorry to say this, you're not smart at all.. If you think religion is still your problem, go to India and china, where Buddhism and Hinduism is a national religion. Indians have more shrines in ever street than there are churches and mosques combined in Nigeria. Namaste |
Dokitto001:If I vote you, would you perform better than any of the president we have had. Are we sure you haven't bribed your way in one way or the other. Are we sure you don't tell lies Are we sure you won't put all your relatives in key positions if elected. Any Nigerian who would say No to that, probably did not grow up within the country or was raised by good parents. Our society has produced the same crop of leaders, which tells us there something fundamentally wrong with the mindset of an average Nigerian. Until the change comes from us, we have no moral justification to judge our leaders. |

Hello Mayorall and everyone on Nairaland, I’m God'spower by name, a registered nurse and also work as a CV/resume writer, helping people present themselves better for job opportunities. Recently, I’ve been developing a strong interest in Nursing Informatics because I want to combine healthcare with technology and build a more sustainable career path for myself. Getting this laptop would mean a lot to me at this stage. I plan to use it for online trainings, nursing research, health-tech learning, remote work, and improving my resume writing services. Most of the things I currently do are limited because I don’t have a personal laptop strong enough for consistent learning and work. Beyond personal growth, I also hope to use the knowledge and skills I gain to support other healthcare professionals and job seekers around me. I genuinely see this as an opportunity that can help me move from where I am now to a much better place professionally. Thank you for giving people like us this opportunity, and for contributing positively to the community. mayorall: |

The reality is simple. It is no longer just about what you studied, but about the value you can offer and how well you position yourself. Nigeria’s job market is tough and increasingly competitive. Every year, thousands of graduates enter the workforce, but there are simply not enough jobs to match this growing number. Companies are hiring less, yet expecting more skills, more experience, and greater adaptability, even for entry level roles. Many qualified young Nigerians are underemployed or working in jobs far below their potential. A major issue is the gap between education and real world demands. Employers now value practical and digital skills more than just academic certificates. At the same time, networking plays a strong role, and opportunities often go to those with connections, making it harder for others to break through. Despite these challenges, getting a job in Nigeria is still possible, but it requires a smarter and more strategic approach. To improve your chances, focus on building relevant skills, especially digital and problem solving abilities. Make yourself visible by connecting with professionals and staying active both online and offline. Be flexible enough to take internships or short term roles to gain experience. Also, explore remote jobs and freelance opportunities, which are becoming more accessible. Like was said earlier, The reality is simple. It is no longer just about what you studied, but about the value you can offer and how well you position yourself. The market may be difficult, but those who adapt, stay consistent, and keep improving will always find a way forward. |

I am writing this for someone who is quietly struggling like I once did. There was a time in my life when every morning started with hope and every night ended in disappointment. After graduating, I believed life would finally move forward. I thought getting a job was just a matter of time. I was wrong. Weeks turned into months. I kept applying. Again and again. I lost count after a while. I spent money I did not really have just to stay online and submit applications. Each time my phone beeped, my heart would race. Maybe this is the one. But most times, it was nothing. No reply. No feedback. Just silence. Sometimes, I would get those cold messages We regret to inform you Those words can break you slowly if you are not careful. There was a particular day I will never forget. I attended an interview with so much hope. I used my last money for transport. I walked in with confidence, answered questions with everything I had, and left believing I had a real chance. Days later, I found out I was not selected. That day, something in me almost gave up. I started questioning everything about myself Maybe I am not good enough Maybe I am not smart enough Maybe this country is not for people like me It is a terrible place to be mentally. But deep down, I knew one thing. If I gave up, that would be the real failure. So I made a quiet decision. No announcement. No noise. Just a decision within myself that I would keep going, even if it hurt. I stopped just applying randomly and started working on myself. I improved my CV. I learned new skills. I practiced interview questions until I could answer with confidence. I asked for help even when it was uncomfortable. I forced myself to grow. It was not easy. There were days I felt tired, empty, and discouraged. Days I questioned if any of it even mattered. But I kept showing up for myself. Then one day, I got a call. It felt like every other call at first. I did not even want to get my hopes up. But it was different. I was invited for an interview. This time, I prepared like everything depended on it. When I walked into that interview, I was not the same person who had been rejected over and over again. I was stronger. I was sharper. I was ready. Days later, I received the message that changed everything. Congratulations, you have been selected I just stared at my phone. For a moment, everything was quiet. All the stress, the pain, the waiting, the silent tears it all came rushing back at once. And in that moment, it finally made sense. None of it was wasted. Today, I am working. It may not be my final destination, but it is proof that persistence works. It is proof that things can change. If you are reading this and you feel stuck, please hear this Your effort is not useless Your time is not wasted Your story is not over Rejection can be painful, but it is not the end. Keep going, even when it is hard. Keep improving, even when nobody is watching. Keep believing, even when it feels pointless. One day, your own Congratulations message will come. And when it does, it will mean more than you can ever imagine. Shared |
