In 1983 Chadian soldiers that defeated The mighty Muamar Ghadafis Lybian army in the 'Toyota war'of the previous year. The war with lybia earned the Chadians the name 'desert warriors'. And it was solely controlled by the british with no single Ghanaian instructor, the training facility built in Teshie, also trained even more British soldiers than African soldiers, at some point 125 british vs 23 African soldiers( mostly Ghanaians).

And obasonjo and his crew were trained there by the british long before it was renamed GHANA MILITARY SCHOOL IN LATE 60s
