presiade: I specified my minimum rate for them. walexlo78: Dear All, based on Presiade's comment that means GT fall among lists of banks where you can bid with your own rate. Officially GTB do not allow you to choose your rate. |

Dannylng: Please correct me if I'm wrong
If you buy tb of 10 Million for 91 days @ 10%.
At the end of the tenure you will have 1million gain.
Now you have 11million excluding fees
Now let's say you buy another 91 days with your 11 Million ( 10 + 1).
At the end of the 91 days you will have 1.1 million gain
Now you have 12.1 million in approximately 182 days.
But if you decided to invest that your initial 10 million for 182 at say 18%
You will have 1.8 million at the end of 182 days as gain
Meaning you will have 11.8 million as you total cash in the 182 days tenure.
Conclusion
You get 12.1 million for investing in two consecutive 91 days (182) tenure at 10% interest rate
And you get 11.8 million for investing in 182 days tenure at interest rate of 18%
My question is this; is it not best to be investing in 91 days tenure than 182 days and more.
Please correct me if I'm wrong with my calculations This kind of thoughts have been raised many times on this thread. For 91days you divide your interest by 4. For 182days you divide it by 2. So for your example if 10million @ 10% for 91days, what you get is 1m/4 = 250k Please read through the thread. Most of the questions has been answered. |

just2endowed: hello guys,
Gtb is telling me the minimum i can invest in TB is 500k. Guys is it the norm for TB application in GTB?
and do GTB allow someone bidding by him or herself?
and lastly, Now that the CBN had increased the MPR from 12% to 14%, does it have effect on TB rate in next auction? The 500k is for Gtb secondary market. You can invest less than that amount from the primary market. On default, Gtb do not allow you to choose your bid. Unless you are a "BIG FISH". Yes |

Mfunkynation: pls how do u calculate d percentage You can try this method. New price divide old price, minus 1, times 100 I.e {(new price/old price)-1}*100 I will illustrate with 2 examples: 1) If a price moves from N2 - N3 = 3 divide 2, minus 1, times 100 This will give you 50% increase I.e = {(3/2)-(1)}*100 = 50 2) If a price drops from N4.8 - N4.23 = 4.23 divide 4.8, minus 1, times 100 This will give you -11.875% decrease I.e = {( 4.23 / 4.8 )-1}*100 = -11.875 #StillLearning |

Lovinwa: GTB has not debited me, I submitted on Monday and went for 14.98% for 364 days. Is it b/c I chose my rate because they usually debit me when I go with their own rate. And is there any evidence of purchasing NTB that banks give like in FD? Something like certificate, thanks. For Gtb, It also reflects on your account when you log in via Internet banking. |

leexey: Pls I need more orientation here, I submitted a bid on Friday through first bank and my account was debited instantly same day, but to my surprise my account was credited back yesterday informing me that my bid didn't went thru. Is this the norm, and also end of the month interest wasn't given on my balance. Each bank have the way they operate. This is the way first bank operate. They debit before the bid day. I have experienced same with them, though on bond not TB. |
