FLASHBACK: THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY BRIGADIER JOSHUA NIMYEL DOGONYARO AFTER BUHARI'S DETHRONEMENT ON AUGUST 27, 1985 I, Brigadier Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, of the Nigerian Army, hereby make the following declaration on behalf of my colleagues and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Fellow country men, the intervention of the military at the end of 1983 was welcomed by the nation with unprecedented enthusiasm. Nigerians were unified in accepting the intervention and looked forward hopefully to progressive changes for the better. Almost two years later, it has become clear that the fulfillment of expectations is not forthcoming. Because this generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country but Nigeria, we could not stay passive and watch a small group of individuals misuse power to the detriment of our national aspirations and interest. No nation can ever achieve meaningful strides in its development where there is an absence of cohesion in the hierarchy of government; where it has become clear that positive action by the policy makers is hindered because as a body it lacks a unity of purpose. It is evident that the nation would be endangered with the risk of continuous misdirection. We are presently confronted with that danger. In such a situation, if action can be taken to arrest further damage, it should and must be taken. This is precisely what we have done. The Nigerian public has been made to believe that the slow pace of action of the Federal Government headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was due to the enormity of the problems left by the last civilian administration. Although it is true that a lot of problems were left behind by the last civilian government, the real reason, however, for the very slow pace of action is due to lack of unanimity of purpose among the ruling body; subsequently, the business of governance has gradually been subjected to ill-motivated power play considerations. The ruling body, the Supreme Military Council, has, therefore, progressively been made redundant by the actions of a select few members charged with the day-to-day implementation of the SMC’s policies and decision. The concept of collective leadership has been substituted by stubborn and ill advised unilateral actions, thereby destroying the principles upon which the government came to power. Any effort made to advise the leadership, met with stubborn resistance and was viewed as a challenge to authority or disloyalty. Thus, the scene was being set for systematic elimination of what, was termed oppositions. All the energies of the rulership were directed at this imaginary opposition rather than to effective leadership. The result of this misdirected effort is now very evident in the country as a whole. The government has started to drift. The economy does not seem to be getting any better as we witness daily increased inflation. The nation’s meager resources are once again being wasted on unproductive ventures. Government has distanced itself from the people and the yearnings and aspirations of the people as constantly reflected in the media have been ignored. This is because a few people have arrogated to themselves the right to make the decisions for the larger part of the ruling body. All these events have shown that the present composition of our country’s leadership cannot, therefore, justify its continued occupation of that position. Furthermore, the initial objectives and programmes of action which were meant to have been implemented since the ascension to power of the Buhari Administration in January 1984 have been betrayed and discarded. The present state of uncertainty and stagnation cannot be permitted to degenerate into suppression and retrogression. We feel duty bound to use the resources and means at our disposal to restore hope in the minds of Nigerians and renew aspirations for a better future. We are no prophets of doom for our beloved country, Nigeria. We, therefore, count on everyone’s cooperation and assistance. I appeal to you, fellow countrymen, particularly my colleagues in arms to refrain from any act that will lead to unnecessary violence and bloodshed among us. Rest assured that our action is in the interest of the nation and the armed forces. In order to enable a new order to be introduced, the following bodies are dissolved forthwith pending further announcements: (a) The Supreme Military Council (b) The Federal Executive Council (c) The National Council of States. All seaports and airports are closed, all borders remain closed. Finally, a dusk to dawn curfew is hereby imposed in Lagos and all state capitals until further notice. All military commanders will ensure effective maintenance of law and order. Further announcements will be made in due course. God bless Nigeria. RIP LT. GENERAL JOSHUA DONGOYARO

It was serious last night at my neighbour's residence. Around 8 p.m, he saw a snake in the living room, so he called everyone to come and help kill the snake. You know how African solidarity works. We each arrived with a big stick in hand, a total of seven (7) fellows. Once in the living room, we saw the big snake looking at us; we closed the doors and surrounded it. We said to the snake: "Your own don finish. It curled up !!". As everyone advanced towards it for the kill, BOOOOM !!, NEPA STRUCK! ... Oró óóó !!! E gbà wá o ará àdúgbóóó !!!! Very serious matter! It was "save who can" in the living room. We no longer knew where the snake was and where the exits were. When someone touches you a little, you hit with the stick, thinking it was the snake. Serious matter, we banged and banged heavily in the dark. Screams, injuries, pains, followed ... I got out of there miraculously but with a broken arm, two broken teeth, torn t-shirt and a swollen head; some neighbours surely almost left their skin in there I believe this snake works at the "NEPA." NEPA NO GO KILL US!

A former vice-chairman of Lagos-Island East Council Development Area, Asekun Kehinde Sakiru, has been apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking. This is according to a statement issued by the NDLEA on Wednesday and signed by its spokesman Femi Babafemi. The statement disclosed that Mr Asekun was on May 7, at about 9:40 p.m., intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos while trying to take a Virgin Atlantic flight to London, UK. The agency also revealed that “Asekun had been on the wanted list of the MMIA Command of the Agency in connection to a case involving one Azeez Adeniyi Ibrahim who was arrested with 6.45kg of cocaine in December 2020.” It stated further that: “At the point of his arrest, Asekun was caught with a kilogramme of cocaine concealed in five pairs of palm slippers packed inside his suitcase.” Mr Asekun was a London based baron and a politician who “was at different times between 2004 and 2014 the vice-chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA. He had also contested and lost elections for house of representatives in 2007 and Lagos state house of assembly in 2015.” Before then, Mr Asekun was in 2011 a member of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) when he coordinated security for the LCDA elections in Lagos. The suspect claims to be an international automobile dealer in his statement to the anti-drug trafficking organisation. The agency however said it was yet to verify his source of wealth from its investigation so far, it further added that, “in the course of tracking him, the sum of N131 million was seized from his account, and another N14 million also blocked in the account of one of his traffickers, Azeez Adeniyi Ibrahim, bringing the total sum so far recovered from him to N145 million.” Chairman of the agency, Buba Marwa, while commending its officers reiterated the agency’s commitment in the fight against drug trafficking in the country. NDLEA has ramped up his bust up of drug markets and cartels since the appointment of Mr Marwa in January. The agency has also made outlandish announcements of drug interception amid arrests. “This arrest is yet another message and red alert to those still in this criminal trade, whether as barons or traffickers, that they will soon enter the dragnet of the Agency, daily being spread across the country, if they fail to back out especially now that we are moving all out for the barons and the big cartels while we continue to rein in the traffickers,” the NDLEA boss warned. gungab:This is a very detailed article on Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli-Palestinian_conflict |
I've started seeing cattle ranches springing up in the part of Southern Nigeria that I live. Very soon, most cattle consumed by Yòrùbá people within Nigeria will be from Yòrùbá owned cattle ranches. I know Lagos State already has this on lock since Fashola days, other Yòrùbá states just need to follow suit stringently |
FRANCE is returning the religious intolerance some Muslims & Muslim countries exhibit globally Paying evil with evil That's commendable. Tit for tat Over the decade, asylum seekers from these Muslim countries have murdered French citizens on French soil. They bombed the stadium during Ariana Grande's show that year, and people were using #PrayForParis on their Facebook profile picture. Too much atrocities has been committed by them so I think it's fair FRANCE started returning the favour.

Israel VS Palestine is a dicey situation. I can't support either party. Israel is hell bent on collecting all their ancestral land. Palestine is hell bent on keeping their country. I'm trying to see things from Palestine angle but:

Last year, I experienced all the COVID-19 symptoms, but I'm an indoor person so i knew I didn't have COVID. You probably don't have COVID too. Just treat your illnesses independently (one after another) |
This is how France has been supplying Boko Haram with weapons to create avenue for Nigeria to spend big on military hardwares. But unfortunately, asides the fact that politicians (and top soldiers) will embezzle part of the funds, they will buy substandard weapons for the Nigerian army, then draft non Fulani soldiers to war zone to go and perish. France, USA, Israel, Serbia, Russia, white South Africans, etc are the biggest winners any where there's instability in Africa because they will supply weapons to the opponents, then urge the country to buy ammunitions from them. Also, E.U countries like U.K will solicit for funds from E.U purse claiming it's for aid. What they will then do is spend all most of the money to buy British products then donate them to the unfortunate ones. |
I wonder what hypothesis is the basis for this conclusion. How many Nigerian men have deep throated you? Some people go just open mouth waaa! |
The person on who's turf wars & battles are fought is the biggest loser. In this case, Israel & Palestine are both losers ![]() |
Both sides are the ultimate losers. This is why I love USA's style of military show off. You know they can exterminate you so you won't try to be aggressive towards them. Palestinians are on Israeli ancestral land and Israelis are fighting to get it back. The situation is bleeped up because I'm trying to see things from the Palestine angle, but:

White men like white women in return; other races are only to satisfy their sexual desires (men of other races likewise). I've read a case of a Nigerian lady that was promised heaven by a German only for the guy to reveal his true colours when they got to Germany. Biology will always override emotions in the long run. |
MURIC is an organisation sponsored by enemies of Yòrùbá progress. It's only by name that i knew Awolowo was a Christian. I don't even know what Ladoke Akintola's religion was. If not for the name "Ahmed", I wouldn't know Bola Tinubu is a Muslim. If it wasn't for the media, I wouldn't know Remi Tinubu is a Christian. Religion isn't something to divide Yòrùbás with now. Christian father, Muslim mother, Uncle a traditionalist, cousin an atheist, sibling an agnostic, this can only be a Yòrùbá family. Yòrùbá is ONE |
Let's take a break from the heartbreaking security issues currently happening in Nigeria and entertain ourselves with foreign affairs. Israel & Palestine conflicts gained major headlines yesterday when Israeli military & agencies posted a videos showing rockets launched from Palestine into Israel to counter media reports about them being the aggressors in the conflict. They claim at least two people died from the 137 rockets launched yesterday. A particular video showed some rockets launched at night from Palestine to Ashkelon region in Israel being neutralised mid-air by Israel's Iron-Dome Defence System. The Israeli–Palestinian conflict has its roots in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with the birth of major nationalist movements among the Jews and among the Arabs , both geared towards attaining sovereignty for their people in the Middle East. The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British government in 1917 during the First World War announcing support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine.

Igbochief001:I agree we have our internal political differences, just like other ethnic groups around the world, but you people's exaggeration is not needed. There are still border issues in among your people causing communal clashes mostly unreported by the media. Deal with your problems first and leave us alone. Dear Flat-Head OP, Either Muslim or Christian or Buddhist or Oní'sèse or whatever Yòrùbás are ONE. We may have our internal differences, either political or religious or tribe or family, etc, but Yòrùbás are ONE. PS: Remove the log from your eyes before pointing at someone else's speck |
HEAVEN4444:Rockets were fired yesterday into the Israeli region of Ashkelon from Palestine, but the Israeli military neutralised it through their Iron Dome Defence System. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life |
Generally, in Yorubaland, as long as you are comfortable, you can marry any lady you wish. In some cases, if you aren't comfortable to the lady's parent's taste, they will upgrade you. (This is an exceptional case though) General requirement is to be well mannered and ambitious. People with more in depth knowledge about tribes under Yòrùbá ethnic group can have the mic |
This dad needs a new strategy to get through to his son. The boy is feeling less loved and was looking for love online, but he found filth. It's boys like this that end up as online trolls because there's so much sadness in their lives and they are angry at other people's happiness. (This is what DJ CUPPY should know) |
