Uwem gers on Facebook says

Yeah! The irony is that as a sitting governor he has already taken sides with his kith and kin. It was Mkpat Enin LGA youths who demonstrated their perceived denial of employment in an oil company in Eastern Obolo LGA, blocked major roads at Ikot Akpaden Junction that Wednesday. But guess what, Udom as if afraid of those youths chose to threaten Eastern Obolo youths and people, couldn't even mention Mkpat Enin youths, not minding that Eastern Obolo as minority and long neglected area in spite of bearing much of Akwa Ibom oil has suffered the harsh effects of pollution from oil exploration and production dating back to the 1960s till date, suffered criminal attack and arson and massacre in the 1980s by law enforcement officers just for demanding government attention. That local government and her people deserve better, not the insult by any governor who could not distinguish between criminal activity of the past by few youths from the genuine demand of the people for fair treatment and protection under a valid memorandum of understanding (MOU). We know for example that Bonny has one with the LNG company and others. Eket has, so why shouldn't Eastern Obolo? Enough of the neglect and insult/negative stereotypes.

It's unfortunate that what the military government did to the Ogoni's is about to repeat itself in Akwa Ibom State, this time by a democratically elected state Governor.

Obolo people deserve to sign an M .O .U. with multinationals it plays host to.
Obolo people reject the neglect and oppression from Udoms Government

COMMUNIQUE OF UTONO OBOLO
A meeting of Utono Obolo Worldwide, a socio-cultural Organization comprising people of Obolo Ethnic Nationality in Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Ibeno Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Ohafia Local Local Government Area, Abia State and the Obolo Ethnic Nationality in the Diaspora, held at Obolo House, No. 1 Atakpo Street, Off Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on the 29th of August, 2020. Present at the meeting were prominent opinion leaders of Obolo Ethnic Nationality from Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area and Ibeno Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. At the meeting, paper presentations were made on the following topics:
i. Comprehensive Overview of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.
ii. Amazaaba – Ikot Akpan Udo Crises: Historical perspective and the Compelling Need for the Change of Narratives.
iii. Multinational Companies in Eastern Obolo and their Corporate Social Responsibilities.

After exhaustive deliberations and discussions by the eminent participants at the meeting, Utono Obolo hereby issues the following communique:
1. Utono Obolo commends His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, on the steps so far taken to resolve the lingering boundary misunderstanding between Amazaaba Communities in Eastern Obolo LGA and Ikot Akpan-Udo community in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area. We strongly encourage the government to expedite action on the re-settlement and rehabilitation of the displaced people of Amazaaba Communities in Eastern Obolo to their ancestral home.

2. On the issue of political appointments in Akwa Ibom State, Utono Obolo observes that since the inception of the Administration of Deacon Udom Emmanuel that the people of Eastern Obolo have not been given any substantive appointment as Commissioner in the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretary in any of the Ministries in Akwa Ibom State. Therefore, Utono Obolo hereby calls on the Governor to appoint a worthy son or daughter of Eastern Obolo into the State Executive Council and a Permanent Secretary into any of the Ministries in the State considering the enormous resources that Eastern Obolo Local Government contribute to the economy of Akwa Ibom State. It is a well known fact that some key oil facilities like Oso condensate, Amana Kpono, OML 13, OML 69, OML 70, OML 99, OML 100, OML 102, OML 103, OML 112, OML 130, and OML 138 producing gas and more than 400,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) are located within 10 to 35 nautical miles off the shorelines of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.

3. Utono Obolo hereby calls on INEC, Akwa Ibom State Government and all relevant bodies to take necessary steps to restore the “Repressed Eastern Obolo State Constituency” which took place upon return to democracy in 1999. We shall stop at nothing to ensure this legal wrong is redressed.

4. Utono Obolo observed with total shock the unequitable and unfair creation of new 139 Electoral Wards by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) without any in Eastern Obolo and Ibeno Local Government Areas. We therefore, strongly condemn this act and hereby demand the creation of four (4) additional Wards in Eastern Obolo and Ibeno Local Government Areas respectively which are major contributors of the resources that sustain Akwa Ibom State.

5. Utono Obolo observes that the various International Oil Companies and National Oil Companies operating within the territories of Eastern Obolo do not have operational MOUs with the host Communities and in particular ExxonMobil Producing Unlimited does not even recognize Eastern Obolo as a host Local Government Area, despite their numerous platforms on Eastern Obolo Offshore territory. This is, to say the least, provocative and unacceptable. We condemn this in the strongest of terms and demand the inclusion of Eastern Obolo in all MOUs with ExxonMobil Producing Unlimited and the drafting and signing of MOUs by all the Oil Companies operating in Eastern Obolo territory with the people of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area. We also demand the appointment of Eastern Obolo citizens to the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

6. Utono Obolo appreciates the decision of the Akwa Ibom State Government with the approval of the Federal Government of Nigeria to site the Free Trade Zone in six Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State including Eastern Obolo and Ibeno LGAs. We demand that the Operators of Free Trade Zone should carry out a thorough Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on the project, grant equity holding to the contributors of land for the Free Trade Zone, ensure that a plan exists for the co- existence of the citizens of Eastern Obolo and the Free Trade Zone and carry the host communities along in the implementation of this project in other to avoid dire environmental, economic and legal consequences. We further demand that the project be named Obolo Free Trade Zone as we provide and hold the social license for the bulk of the land area required for the project.

Signed and dated on the 29th August, 2020.

1. Sir. Marcus Edwin Enene

2. Engr Iroigak Ikaan

3. Dr. Romsan Dressman

Prior to my earlier post (link above) here about an illegal police extortion at a checkpoint, I want to state that I have been fully refunded, compensated for time wasted and apologies on behalf of the erring officers who are currently suspended and undergoing orderly room trial.

I was contacted by the DPO exactly a week after I made the post here and on twitter after ACP Markus Ishaku and the PCRU noted my post and gave me a tracking number. When I got to the station, I didn't have much to do as my video evidence already spoke for itself. I should have posted this earlier but I have been quite busy. Am very sorry for that.

I also want to use this opportunity to thank mature and sensible characters who showed interest in the case and those who also gave words of advice.
I appreciate the efforts of the mods who pushed it to front page and also

It's no longer news even if it's not confirmed yet, the succession plans of the present governor of Rivers State E.N Wike.
An indigene Soibi Sokari posted on her Facebook page.

' 2023

Wike has deviced a New Strategy to return Power to the Upland. His Strategy is to Promise the Governorship to as many Riverine politicians as he can, which will cause disaffection amongst the Riverine players and divide us into parallel sections. When this happens, it will give the one Candidate of his Choice, From the Upland whom we perceive will be a smooth Pass to pick the party Flag.

: that this is what played out in 2015 when Kalabaris flooded the arena to contest, making it easy for him to hijack the process.

This time he's gradually creating an artificial crisis between the Riverine Politicians so that they'll be so discorded that because he had promised you, leaving it for another would seem like you have given your mandate to another so you will rather continue in the race having in mind that you're the and others are merely (Opponents)

This is the state of oyigbo/afam road in River's State.
This is just a portion as there are more portions of this road that links oyigbo town with the afam power station.

There has been clamour over the years for a fix but it seem to fall on deaf ears as the government has not demonstrate the will to fix the road, comutters and pedestrian alike are left to feel the brunt of this neglect, which has metted unquantifiable loss to both residents and businesses.
The people of oyigbo are calling on the Rivers State government to come to there aid.
Some people even make a mockery that oyigbo is the Rivers State version of Aba, considering the proximity of this oil rich L.G.A to Abia State.

Jude says, if not for this man we call him work and chop, we don't know how he manages to fill up the spots with stones or gravels just to make the road passable, especially in this rainy season the road is nothing to write about, government should come to our aid, we have the afam power station, saipem and other companies who play this road year turn and blind eye.Even the LG.A chairman.

Are there not brothers?
If that then ikot abasi, Mbo, oruk anam, even Onna should be complaining and claiming 80%..
My brother am not disputing that the contribute but not 40% am very sure of that..
There is a difference between a host community ( eastern Obolo, ibeno, mbo) and catchment areas ( Ikot Abasi, mkpat enin, onna, eket)
Sadly it's same political oppression that nade it seem eket is an oil producing community which is not, do your research

astern Obolo.
Eastern Obolo lies on the coastline of the Qua Iboe River and covers a landmass of 117.000 square kilometres according to state government record.

The local government is rich in oil and gas deposits, with multinationals like Mobil Producing Nigeria, Total E&P Nigeria Limited and Amni International Petroleum Company Limited operating in the waters close by for decades.

You don't need to be sentimental

On Facebook an indigene of eastern Obolo local government area in Akwa ibom state, Sam Dede krt writes

❌❌❌❌ SOS MESSAGE

This is the current state of Okoroete-Elile-Amadaka-Kampa road, Eastern Obolo LGA.

This road project is contracted to NigerPet Structures by Akwa Ibom state government but construction work was paused due to Covid 19.

We are aware of the recent reshuffling in the state Executive Council and we are pleading with Akwa Ibom state Government through the Ministry of Works under the Digital, Able, and Dynamic, Prof. Eno Ibanga, to remobilise NigerPet Structures so they can resume work on Okoroete-Elile-Amadaka-Kampa road before it gets out of hand.

The people are really suffering.

I KNOW EVEN SOME PEOPLE FROM THESE COMMUNITIES WILL REFUSE TO SHARE THIS POST.

It is unfortunate despite being responsible for over 40% of the oil Wells in Akwa ibom state, communities in Eastern Obolo are yet to benefit, from the government of his Excellency Udom Emmanuel, one would begin to wonder if it's because they are a minority in the state or her elites or is the state government not aware of the state of underdevelopment?

All we see everyday are strides of the state government on media but the goose that lays the golden egg is neglected.

You are in severe pain.
Akwa ibom ayaiya.
Eastern Obolo is an L.G.A in Akwa ibom, it host 40percent of oil revenue generated in Akwa ibom state and yet are being neglected and you are talking of Udom.
Why the hatred on eastern obolo,.is it because they are a minority tribe?

Udom should order a fix on the roads in Eastern Obolo
