How’s the baby doing now?

Didn't use anything just adjusted her bathing time and she sleeps more at night now. When she cries, she just needs u to play and sing for her and she keeps calm.

From what I’ve heard oka* could be caused by dehydration . Increase his feeds, use bottles if need be to be sure he’s getting enough milk.

Herbs can be tricky to administer d one isn’t sure of the components and dosage to give the child .

Please don't give herbs, may be harmful to your baby. If you're worried about the fontanelle, just constantly feed baby coz he may be dehydrated.
My experience; my son's fontanelle was looking like its pressed inside and I was told to apply silver bird I didn't cos I know the silverbird is harsh. I decided to drink lots of water and feed him like every hour. Now it's back to normal.

Hello mama, I don't think fontanelle has anything to do with baby crying at night. Some babies have varying degrees of colic which makes them uncomfortable, hence the crying. The fontanelle usually closes up on its own within 18 months or so. Just try as much as possible to comfort your baby. If you notice he squeezes himself, it may be his tommy and you can try burping regularly after feeding and the bicycle exercises for tommy for babies. If you still feel worried, take the baby to the hospital for correct assessment. Big hugs mama. You are doing great.

Moms, how do u deAl with fontanelle(oka) in baby? My baby cries so much every night and my mom is suggesting we get herbs while my dh is against herbs as his doctor brother told him its normal.

Pregnancy is a challenge, having a baby is another challenge. Plz mama's who have experience in fontaelle(oka) in babies, how do u cope? My baby has two; front and back. And she hardly sleeps at night. Always crying. Meanwhile another woman had a baby three days after I and we barely hear her baby cry at night.
My mom says it's the fontanelle thats causing mine to cry that we should get herbs for bathing and giving baby to drink while hubby is against herbs as his doctor brother told him crying at night is normal. I don't know whose side to be on and I hate seeing my baby cry so much and be restless at night. Plz am I alone on this? Is it normal or we go the herb route as my mom suggested?
Meanwhile, baby is 3weeks old. She is on EBF.

Anyways, they say aggressively breastfeeding (especially exclusively) helps the stomach retract.
Healthy eating, exercise when you are cleared by your doctor and generally dont be hard on yourself...it might take some time but if you make a conscious effort you'd lose the belly fat.

To prevent post partum fatness, I think it depends on the quantity of food u eat. Most mommas eat a lot when nursing with the idea that they are eating for two. My mom who came for Omugwo has been yabbing me why I shouldn't eat 'just' thrice a day but as the Hunger comes. She wants to turn me to an elephant cos I'm nursing baby. If u have good flow of breast milk, I think u can watch what u eat, be a little bit active and that's all. Putting on weight isn't the problem but shedding it and I'm so lazy and uncommitted to exercising.

Mamas who gave birth via cs, how do u lose belly fat since pressing and sitting on hot water isn't allowed? I'm three weeks postpartum. Not that I mind so much cos my baby is worth it all but I will like to know in case I'm missing out on something.

Initially for the first few days.. All babies weight drop before gradually picking up again. That's entirely normal. The gut(digestive system) of your baby needs what I'd call booting time to become familiar with milk diet and also for full development of its digestive enzymes.. So initially motility is increased before it gradually reduces from many times a day to probably once in 3 days..

How's his poop like still? Color and consistency... If it's extremely watery which I doubt then you should see a pediatrician in person but if it looks like the egusi soup then I think you should calm your nerve a little

Thanks for ur comment mamq.Baby was 3.8 at birth but weighed 3.2 during her first immunization. We haven't checked again since then. She is 12 days old. Her poop is yellowish with seeds like egusi.

I applied just palm kernel oil for my ds and baby oil for my dd. It's not the reason why your baby poops regularly.
Like the papa above said, it's completely normal, it will closeup as baby gets older. Just ensure it doesn't get sunken as that is a sign of dehydration and you'll need to increase feeding.

I experienced the poop thing with my dd the 1st week and it just stopped b4 I took her to the Hosp.
She lost some weight too which was completely normal
As long as it's not watery and/Or greenish poop, she's fine
But I think if the frequency doesn't reduce and has been on since birth, you can take her to the Hosp.
And please feed her more often to avoid dehydration.

The stomach pain is normal too. Gave my ds nospamin for it (can't say if it really worked) and didn't give dd anything for it. They outgrow it, its a phase and it will pass.
Also watch what you eat to ensure it doesn't cause the regular poop.

The 1st few weeks are the hardest, hang in there mama

Please stop the silver bird mixture. Just palm kernel oil, or any other oil is fine. Used same for DS and I had to stop when it started looking worse. Don't think silver bird should be applied directly on the skin.

Okay, noted mama but how did u deal with that of ur DS? It causes mine to feed and stool frequently, she also feel occasional pains on her stomach.

the poo is normal but by open head what do you mean? Are you referring to the soft part on the top of the head of your child.. It's called a fontanelle. They are actually two of them one in front and another at the back. They are there for a purpose one of which is to allow for proper growth of the brain of a child. There's nothing you can do about it to make it close sooner because there is a programmed time for it to close which is mostly between 9 and 2 years. The one at the back closes between 1 to 2 months.. Be mindful of what you apply. That's the brain of your child directly under.

Hi all, I just joined this group. My baby is ten days old and has open head in the middle of her head. She poos immediately she is breastfed. She has done this six times today. I don't know if there is any remedy for it or do we just wait it out?
PS- My mom rubs palm kernel oil mixed with silver bird on it daily.

I was just about to post my own story today after my BA for wifey on the 3rd here. But when i saw this story. I was shocked.

This was the same story we had. No addition, no substraction, except for the gender. (We have a baby boy) and we got discharged 3 days after.

To the glory of God, I welcomed my Princess on Tues 4th Aug, 2020. EDD was 26th July.

My pregnancy journey was very smooth; no MS, spits, I was glowing and was indeed pampered by hubby. First, Second n even Third trimesters were good to me. I was very strong and glowed all through.
I started panicking After passing my Edd dates. The only thing on my mind was when baby would come out as she already weighed 3.45 at 38 weeks scan. I ate pineapples, dates, walked, did yoga exercises, avoided meals.. chai. The final weeks of my pregnancy wasn't funny atall.
July went by and I said, 'Well Baby wants to be an August baby.' On the 2nd of August after evening stroll with my kid sis, I started having contractions but thought it was Braxton Hicks. Not until I got home and went to ease myself then I saw 'show'. My happiness knew no bounds. I couldn't wait for hubby to be home so I could tell him. The dude really suffered those final times cos I was always unhappy that Baby hadn't come. He came and I shared him the news. We called his brother who is a Medical Doctor. He asked us to wait till the next day bfr going to the hospital.
We got to the hospital at 4pm the next day 3rd Aug. Doctor checked me and I was 6cm dilated. He was happy and said 'Madam, your baby would soon be here.' Before 10pm same night,I was already 8cm with contractions coming back to back. The nurses has done enamel on me so they assured me that whatever pooing feeling I was having was my baby but I shouldn't push yet as I needed to be in at least 9cm.
This was where devil decided to struck. The labour couldn't progress. I was in 8cm from 10pm on the 3rd till 4th. I was almost going mad from untoractions. Doctor said because I was having hard contractions, he didn't want to induce so as not to over stress baby. At some point, he had no option but to put the hot drip. Chai, if u r here and having any issues with ur mother, pls make amends. What women go through to bring babies to life is not a little experience.
Despite the drip, I still wasnt dilating and doctor had to remove it cos of baby. He was coming to check baby's heart beat from time to time. He reminded my hubby of the Pelvimentry xray we didn't do and said probably its the cause.
By noon of 4th, I was already weak and still hadnt gone beyond 8cm! Hubby was crying n praying, same with my mom. I called hubby and told him that I couldnt go through the pains anymore that doctor should come operate on me bfr either I or the baby passes on. With tears in his eyes, he went to the doctor's office, signed the paper and I was taken to the theatre. I learnt Baby was. brought out 15mins later. She had already pooped and the doctor said if we hadnt taken that decision the exact time we did, we might have lost her. Hubby was called to bring me out. We were discharged 6days later.
My Princess is a beauty to behold. I can't stop thanking God for such a wonderful gift. At the end of the day, Mummy is alive, Baby is alive and Daddy is alive. I return all glory unto God Almighty.

Hi màmàs, I would like to confirm my edd manually às I always hàd diff dates from the scàns I did. my LMP was 20th October. I hvnt gotten labour signs yet n doctor hasn't asked me to come for inducement. Using my LMP, when is supposed to be my edd. Treat as urgent please as I'm getting worried. I'm a ftm.
