PoliticsRe: Malami's Loyalty Lies With The Banks And Not Nigeria by ijija: 8:04pm On May 31, 2016
Buhari needs to tackle this malami issue once and for all if his anti corruption fight is to be taken seriously. We cannot afford a controversial and corrupt agf now.
EducationRe: Kogi State University Strike Clocks 7 Weeks, Massive Exodus Of Lecturers by ijija: 9:22am On May 31, 2016
Wada has been vindicated. He did all he could in spite of the refusal by buhari to release bailout to him to manage the lecturers and all workers salary. He eve went to The extent of borrowing from bank to pay salaries yet kogi people cursed him and called him unprintable names. Now buhari first son bello is in the saddle. Buhari has released all the billions to him, 50 billion bailout, 10 billion infrastructure fund,15 billion refund. Bello has received in just 5 months more than what wada received in a year yet he has refused to pay salaries. He is embarking on mass retrenchment and has even sacked the assembly so nobody can question him. Only God can save kogi now
PoliticsRe: Past Govt Wasted Forex On Importation Of Toothpicks — Buhari by ijija: 4:06pm On May 29, 2016
All this story about toothpick. Pmb should change song and tell us for once in figures how much he has saved Nigeria by banning toothpick from CBN forex. He should then go further to probe the reason CBN was still giving fired to toothpick importers even though toothpick has been on the import prohibition list since obasanjp regime. I laugh at the irony of pmb making a lot of noise about toothpick yet he allowed CBN to give forex to importers of cheese and mayonnaise. Double standards everywhere.

Stop misinforming people @OP, United Airline has never been in Nigeria. It is a US airline and I have flown to the US with it a couple of times. The company stopped coming to Nigeria because of low patronage.

This has little to do with economy but majorly with the traffic of people going and coming.[/s]
United has been in Nigeria. Actually it was the cargo and not the passenger numbers that were sustaining the route. Now that imports are down. They cannot maintain the route. Do you now understand what the economy has to do with it

Those of us that voted Buhari need to stop and take a deep breath then say Yes we Ma a big mistake by voting a man whose only pro is integrity and his cons are plenty plenty from lack of intelligence to poor vision
I am gradually finding out that even the integrity he claims is seriously garnished with double standards. If not how can anyone explain to me why buhari has refused to block the loopholes in govt that will stop ongoing corruption. For e.g make security votes accountable and auditable. Ensure that large cash withdrawals are stopped by banks so that most funds can have a trace. Ensure that all public officials publicly declare their assets- after all they are public officials. Ensure open contracting and develop guidelines for payment of contractors thus reducing the power of civil servants to decide who gets what job and which contractor gets paid. All buhari is doing now amounts to running after a robber that has already stolen from your house while leaving the window he stole through open for another thief to come and steal.
PoliticsRe: One-Year In Office: My Biggest Shock - Buhari by ijija: 8:05am On May 27, 2016
Please somebody should advise Mr president that this country is bigger than any one individual including him. If he is yet to b convinced about devaluation inspire of the glaring consequences of his insistence on a dual exchange rate ,then he should as he says just please accommodate the economists and let our economy move. It smacks of double standards for him to decrying our over reliance on oil yet one of his first actions in office was to release funds for oil exploration in char basin and the only ministry he chose to head was the ministry of petroleum not agriculture. All these press statements he makes about the country are doing more harm than good. He needs to lament less because he is beginning to sound like a broken record. He ran for president four times. Does he in all honesty expect us to believe that he was hoping to come and meet the same conditions he left in 1984?

Your opinions can't influence the outcome of the court process, which may end up favoring Wada. The reality of today is that the debacle that led to Bello's emergence has created an atmosphere of instability in the State, which certainly needs to be addressed in order to restore sanity to the polity.
An atmosphere of instability, insecurity and impunity. #bellout

I have interfaced with Kogi State both as an internal and external stakeholder for 10 years and can say with all confidence that Wada is the most prudent Governor Kogi has ever had (with Bello inclusive). His downfall was an impotent media team and his desire to run an all inclusive setup.
Why are you wasting time responding to his empty rant

He knows that- that is why he wants to steal as much as he can and is trying desperately to witchhunt as many people as possible. How can anyone believe a screening that categorises the nlc chairman as a ghost worker. He is just witchhunting his perceived enemies
PoliticsRe: Kogi Tribunal: Anything Can Happen by ijija: 5:26pm On May 26, 2016
This case is not about governance but about the following: was bello validly elected- no because he was not qualified to contest in the first place, also he did not have a deputy and lastly APC did not score the highest number of valid votes in the election. Even if it were about governance, he would have lost woefully. We have never had it so bad in kogi. Yahaya bello is just a fraud

Governor Bello is not going to steal from kogi. This is a young man that declared 64 billion as assets to code of conduct. He is one of the most successful Nigeria civil servant. He made his billions before he turned 40. He is the owner of one of the most famous transport service in Nigeria - fairplus transport. So you can now see that 50 billion or whatever is chicken change to him
Then he should leave our chicken change for us. He has already stolen enough from federal government for his three wives

Not exactly.....the fact is we do not have enough forex to buffer the naira....and meanwhile keeping the brake on the exchange rate, while a good idea to stop the naira from depreciating at a faster rate....eventually had to go because not enough dollars are coming in.

If GEJ was in charge...the same thing would have happened. After all....Emefiele is his appointee.

And no....I am not being partisan....the cold fact is that Nigeria has been dependent on oil for too long. Eventually, we are going to make the hard choice of diversificaiton....which means a longer period of hardship.
If gej were in charge, emefiele will have been one memeber of an economic team of experts. And gej will not have been so adamant on devaluation defying all advice from notable financial institutions. That singular act of defiance by buhari scared foreign investors out of the country resulting in USD scarcity. Whatever happened to the shadow chasing buhari went to do in china

PoliticsRe: Yahaya Bello Receives Helicopter From Federal Government. Photos by ijija: 3:11pm On May 24, 2016
Thousand of civil servants took to the street of Lokoja yesterday to protest the mass retrenchment that had suddenly hit the public service commission like a ranging storm. The protesters are those that are being recently sacked by the governor because they were labelled ghost workers. Recalled that the Governor had set up a committee to screened all the workers in the state claiming a subversion of the state workforce. The committee had submitted a report which claimed there are about 500 ghost civil servants in the state and recommended their retrenchment. On the contrary, reliable sources revealed that the screening exercise was selective and marred with irregularities as most of the civil servants across the state were denied the screening form during the exercise. Majority of those affected were employed into the state workforce in 2013/14. How do you then sack workers that were not screened, certainly the Governor is alleged to be up to something.

Other sources revealed the current workers retrenchment is directly connected with the recently released bailout fund by the federal government to the state. The governor is said to be plotting the diversion of part of the bailout fund meant to pay the sacked civil servants who were already being owned over 6months salary by previous government due to the fall in revenue allocation accrued to states across the country.

Recalled that the former Wada led government had applied for the bailout fund but couldn't access the fund to pay the backlogs of workers salary before leaving office.

The Bello led government is also yet to give any official account on the bailout fund. The plot is to divert part of the fund for personal business use.
In a video, the protesters were seeing to gathered around the Lokoja Local Government Council chanting ''Bello Ole'' (meaning Bello is a thief). Members of the Nigerian Police present at the protest ground were said to be helpless.
