Ugosample: Let us be objective here. If ASUU is a serious body, why didn't they give the demand of cbn gov. Aod the rest to sign DURING the .13 hour meeting. Why AFTER the meeting? @mazi answer this question.
ASUU national executives act based on instructions given by the members. As at the time of meeting with the president the standing instruction was to discuss the 2009 agreement, which the government took a new position. The NEC took this new position for the members to agree on, which they agreed and requested the CBN to be a part of it. I hope you understand now!

People should endeavour to do their own independent research before coming here to say things against ASUU. The government through the president offered 220 billion annually for university funding, and increased the previouly released 100bn to 200bn for this year alone. ASUU in its traditional way, has to reach out to all chapter to decide on calling off the strike based on this new position of government and the result passed to the president. In the last NEC meeting only 61 chapters turned in resolutions. Fifty one of the chapters voted for the strike to be called off while 10 still wanted thhe strike. Fourty out of. 51 attached so. Many conditions for calling the strike off, which was streamlined to three(3) by the NEC. So anyone saying that the chapters did not attach conditions is misinformed. The conditionns are not new demands...1. Since the striking lecturers are still under the employ of the government, their salaries have to be paid. Infact almost all state universities have paid their lecturers their October salaries, some federal universitieshave paid with their IGR. Moreover Some of the universities are on holiday I.e the second semester exams were concluded. 2. Involvement of attorney General, NLC in signing the agreement...I don't think this is too much to ask for! Remember that government initially denied signing the 2009 agreement, and ASUU doesn't want a repeat of this again, so they are asking for more committment from. Government. Getting this. People/bodies involved shouldn't be a big issue If thegovernment is really sincere with their new position. This is the aspect I think the. Government has a problem. With and this shows theinsincerity of government.

The threat of sacking lecturers has never worked and this will. Not be an exception.

Its quite annoying seeing the use of some languages and words that are totally uncalled for because someone expressed his own opinions on issues. Let's not attack posters persons rather the issues on ground should be treated objectively. You can't come to this forum and call someone a "nonentity" just because nairaland is anonymous. Let's apply decorum and little respect for people. We shall get there!!

I am interested in following a masters in fh aachen. Are there opportunities for work in aachen/julich? I am worried about studying in the fh as it appears they are second class universities. I chose the FH because options for the conventional uni running programs I have interest in are limited. For those in Germany, what are my chances of securing a phd position with an FH degree?

TravelInformation On VISA Refusal/rejection For Study In Belgium by ikechiozo(op): 9:29am On Sep 12, 2013
Please dear Nairalanders, i am in need of your advice in applying for a study VISA to Belgium for my masters.. I have applied for the VISA 2yrs ago but was denied on the grounds of insufficient financial means which i believe is quite justified as my sponsor didnt have enough money or income to show as required in their laws.
According to their laws, one needs to have a minimum of 973 euros for himself + 604 euros for the student and 150 euros for any other dependant on him each month to qualify to sponsor a student in Belgium.
now, i have gotten another sponsor with a good financial base and whose monthly earnings far exceeds their requirements but i am scared of applying again as a friend i met recently told me that when he applied, his sponsor had everything but he was still denied the VISA..
For those that have applied or know people that have applied kindly share ur thoughts on this so that i will be properly guided to avoid wasting my money on them again.

I am very much willing to opening a blocked account and depositing the 604 euros x 12 in the account if its acceptable by their embassy in Nigeria as obtainable for Germany.

Anyone with any method shld please let me know.

Thanks

HealthRe: Health Workers Begin Indefinite Nationwide Strike by ikechiozo: 11:18pm On May 10, 2012
hitmanogo: from your comment i can c u are a radiographer or preferably an imaging scientist as they ere called abroad....well let me clarify some things for you.a radiologist uses imaging means to manage patients, radiographers dont. by training a radiologist knows the principle behind the workings of the imaging equipments and can use them if need be.he can further go ahead to see a patient learn about the patient problem and give appropiate treatment as a regular doctor, a radiographer cant.... or wherever you do ur locum dont u see that patient see the radiologist around b/f u are called to do ur own work.as of comparison to a medical physicist, u are nowhere near them.....they plan radiation dosing along with radiologists and also use of radionucleutides in nuclear medicine.... radiographers are just the errand boys.... i guess u now understand ur position and humbly accept that u are the and only bigger idiot. u also need an MRI to ascertain if ur thalamus is well wired to the cerebral cortex and if u don't have atrophy of the corpus callosum and amygdala....further studies will involve checking for neuro fibrillary tangles, amyloid plaques, tau and lewy bodies , and csf oligoclonal bands.... the one and only bigger idiot....
Its obvious you find it hard to understand what i am saying. I said they all have their roles to play. Maybe spending a little time in a radiology department will help you appreciate their different roles. I am a very busy person so i wont have the time to start explaining in details whats involve. In fact making this argument with you with not yield any money to me....so why waste my time here....bye
HealthRe: Health Workers Begin Indefinite Nationwide Strike by ikechiozo: 3:15pm On May 09, 2012
beneli: . . . but they still get paid way less than the radiologist!

Agreed that in civilised climes all health professionals work as members of multidisciplinary teams (MDT) - people on here have already exhausted the argument about working in teams and so on and so nauseatingly forth. But . . .

But . . . in the MDT, different professionals understand that they have roles to play, which they get on with, without fretting over who earns what. You see, though members of the MDT all get along on first name basis, everybody still understands that within it there is still a hierarchy of authority . . . and responsibility. A hierarchy in which the Consultant is still at the helm of affairs. This authority and responsibility is reflected in the take home pay of the members of the MDT!

I doubt anybody can seriously deny the fact that Nigerian Doctors are underpaid, overworked and clearly unappreciated, going by a lot of the posts on here. I can understand when people ask why Doctors demand to be treated different from other civil servants, but the reality is that in most sane societies Doctors are treated different - they are almost always the highest earning ‘civil servants’ and usually fall within the highest earning citizens, including the Junior Doctors . . . even when you include private and public sector workers.

Of course Nigerian Doctors in Nigeria should be asking for equipments and better training and all the other nice things that should enable them to work like sane people. They should be asking – nay demanding – that the politicians patronise them, so that they too can experience the unquenching joys of being patients in Nigeria. But for now, this agitation is about their remuneration – its about the good ol’ egokudiowo. and the government has a responsibility to fulfil any promises it has made. Chikena!

I don’t know how to say this without coming across as callous but the truth is that the government should be held responsible for all the casualties of this strike - NOT the long suffering Doctors. . !

Most of us, Nigerian Doctors in the Diaspora, sympathise with the plight of our colleagues at home. Once upon a time, most of us were there in the trenches with them . . . tummies growling and all . . . so understand their hunger and their pains. . . .
Who cares about what you earn? thats none of my business. What i am saying is that you try not to interfere with the discharge of my duties. know your JD. If you want to brag about the salary, i will tell you that while working in the private sector i earned more than the doctors at same level with me there!!!!
