Was Onnoghen a dictator for postponing NJC sitting also a dictator? Perhaps if NJC had sat earlier, their actions would have saved the day. The timing of the indefinite postponement was wrong.
I do agree with you.

Following the suspension of the CJN, Onoghen, many well-meaning Nigerians have been expressing their displeasure at the act of the President which they consider a complete violation of the 1999 Constitution.

One of the recent outburst came from the peaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara. Pointing to the provision in sections 157 and 292 of the constitution, he alluded to the following:

“This did not come as a rude shock except to those who have been blind to the gradual but progressive erosion of democratic values in the polity as President Buhari’s government has never hidden its disdain for the rule of law,” he said.

“We have watched in disbelief as the Government recklessly deploys institutional prerogatives; routinely flouts the rule of law; subverts and assaults democratic Institutions; refuses to accept opponents as legitimate; suppresses citizens civil liberties(especially those of opponents) and trample underfoot the media. In short, the Government’s tyrannical and authoritarian credentials are loathsomely legendary.

“The whole idea of a limited government is that the President’s powers is limited by law and it is ultra vires his powers to act in the absence of explicit legislative authorisation. That is representative democracy at its best which our 1999 Constitution as amended guarantees.

“It is instructive to note that our constitution does not contemplate or presupposes a situation whereby the Judiciary will have a suspended CJN and an acting CJN at the same time. Therefore, it is right to posit, as some have done that the President now has his own Chief Judge to do his bidding while Nigeria has a sitting CJN until he is removed in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

“As of today, Nigeria is now Germany in the wake of the 1933 Reichstag fire. Our democracy is on fire; ignited by the very people who swore to protect and defend it.

“That this fire must not convert the chancellor to Fuhrer as it happened in Germany in 1933 depends on our collective response and that of the international community. We must not bow our knees to dictatorship: not now, not ever again.”

Dogara added that the world must not allow “this unmitigated disaster” in Nigeria.

Exercepts of the reaction of the Speaker were taken from an interview with te Cable News Nigeria.

It would be recalled that the weekend announcement of the Suspension of Justice Onoghen and the immediate appointment of the New CJN by the President has been described in many circles as unprecedented in Nigeria’s history.

The Advocacy for Integrity and Economic Development has described the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen as grand illegality, desecration of the garment of democracy and final stage of President Adolf Buhari Hitler’s Armageddon which must be stopped.

In a statement in Abuja on Friday in reaction to the suspension of the head of Nigerian judiciary and signed by its Director of Publicity, Comrade O’Seun John, AIED stated that the action should be protested not just by every member of the Nigerian Body of Benchers but all patriots who hold dear the continuous existence of Nigeria.

The statement said, “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, today, unveiled fully his true personality after years of dilly dally and pretence as a reformed dictator. Muhammadu Buhari, whose action is likened to that of Adolf Hitler, has shown to the entire world that he is nothing but a despotic totalitarian who would not mind dragging every institution of the Nigerian State down to win reelection.

BusinessMeeting Needs Through Proper Product Integration Strategy by ikeokoli(op): 4:12pm On Jan 25, 2019
It is a common practice amongst many small businesses in Nigeria to pursue expansive product mix. This is due, in the main part, to the massive fragmentation that exists in the consumer goods market where a mass of small enterprises offer largely similar services. In the market, these products portend little or no features to differentiate them significantly enough to elicit brand loyalty. So, firms, particularly in the vast and mostly unregulated service sector, simply opt to offer a wide variety of services supposedly related to a particular main product, hoping that they will attract existing or new customers of the main service to become consumers of the related service or product.

However, what I found in my interaction with many service providers (especially those in the personal services and food & beverage market), reveal that this strategy has not led to better sales. Probing deeper it turned out that nearly all of these service providers undertook some product integration strategy simply on their own assumptions of what the customer would want alongside their main offerings. For example, I found that a particular owner of a hairdressing salon had introduced magazine sales to her main service offering (i.e hair-making) since, she insinuated, women would like to while away their free time reading lifestyle magazines and celebrity news while being attended to or waiting for their turns. She provided this new product for nearly a year only to end up with ridiculous sales. Unfortunately, it turned out that most customers preferred to gossip or call friends and family while being attended to or waiting to be attended to. This scenario exists in many other similar service-oriented businesses in Nigeria. Businesses need to rethink their product integration strategy.

To realize a successful product integration one must pose the following questions: when customers want for a service or product, what need are they looking to meet? And when meeting this need with an offered service or product, are there other needs they need to meet at the same time and place, that the customer is willing to pay a price for? In the case of the hair-making salon, though customers obviously read newspapers, the demand for newspapers does not come up at the same time as the demand to fix hair. Therefore, these customers were simply not willing to pay for newspapers while waiting to fix their hair or while fixing their hair.
In all, what exists on a day-to-day basis is that needs show up at different points in time and place, therefore product integration around the customer simply does not lead to the certainty that sales will follow. Instead, service providers need to think of their integration strategy around the needs that need to be met. This needs to be met principle obviously supersedes other integration strategies because it will lead to consistency in customers’ willingness to pay for product or service, and therefore eliminates uncertainties.

Less than a day after the former minister and Presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria(ACPN), Oby Ezekwesili withdrew from the race for Nigeria's 2019 Presidential Elections, his running mate, Alhaji Gani Galadima announced he is endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari from the presidential race.

Recall that Galadima who posted a very poor performance in the election debate for vice presidential candidates had earlier alleged that Ezekwesili entered the race because she was looking forward to becoming the Minister of Finance.

Information from sources close to the running mate of the ACPN had hinted that “Galadima is not known and ACPN is not popular. By withdrawing from the race, the opportunity has now knocked at his door to endorse Buhari. This is what he has been looking for”. It is not, however, clear if this is a decision by the Leadership of the party or a unilateral decision of Alhaji Gani Galadima.

Before now, Fela Durotoye had hinted of a potential withdrawal from the race following the earlier withdrawal by Oby Ezekwesili from the race.

Recal that candidates had entered into a voluntary agreement under the Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) umbrella to produce a common candidate, but that has suffered a number of setbacks in terms of procedure of implementation as many of the aspirants pulled out of the arrangement.

As an immediate fall-out of this morning's declaration of Oby Ezekwesili that she would withdraw from the Presidential Race, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is too late for any candidate to withdraw from contesting any position in the upcoming elections.

Further, INEC said this while reacting to the withdrawal of Oby Ezekwesili as presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN).

Recall that Ezekwesili announced her withdrawal on Thursday, saying she wanted to give room for a coalition against candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, reacting via a statement, Rotimi Oyekanmi, chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, said November 17 was the last date for withdrawal.

The statement read: “It is impossible for any presidential candidate to withdraw from the race now. According to the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2019 General Elections, the last day for withdrawal by candidates or replacement of withdrawn candidates by political parties was 17th November, 2018 for Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

PoliticsVote People. Not APC Or PDP! by ikeokoli(op): 1:31pm On Jan 23, 2019
So I’ve noticed this insinuation in many people of assuming that anyone who dares to speak up about the poor performance and lack of capacity in the President Buhari administration is a supporter of the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. A similar insinuation also characterized the political atmosphere in the build-up to the 2015 Presidential elections. I beg to disagree with that notion.

We first need to have a country before we can dream of having a President. If the last nearly 4 years of the President Buhari administration has been as bad as people have experienced and expressed it to be; if the now very obvious and severe health challenge of President Buhari is something that matters to the progress and wellbeing of Nigeria, then the first step is to get the message across to the majority of Nigerians out there. And such a message should not be discounted by any unprogressive insinuations. The President is not doing anyone a favour remaining in Aso Rock for another 4 years if this is not to the greater good of Nigeria.

In settings where people sincerely self-regulate themselves in public life, he should resign. Yes. David Cameron did the same in the wake of the unexpected vote for Brexit. He made it clear to the world and the British people that he’s not the fit and proper person to lead the United Kingdom at such a time. We need to be bold enough to ask President Buhari and his army of supporters to do the same.
