Signing Griezman at the time we did was not needed at all. Yes, we needed a fix for dwindling Coutinho but how did he expect to play a left-footed player on the right when Messi was still very active? Let's not even talk about Malcolm and Andre Gomez among others.

Bartomeu's project in Barcelona was far away from a dependable sporting and business project. Maybe the latter was considered a bit since he sold us as big spenders with promotional content and all, but I don't think he considered the prospects of the club, alongside Abidal. Forget the success we accrued, the ONLY reason behind that success was MESSI, which is why he had to invest HEAVILY to ensure that he continued but foolish as he was, he didn't realize that the GOAT isn't immortal.

Bartomeu dealt with us grossly and I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have noticed this if the covid waves hadn't happened.

Greizman was signed because Suarez the best or one of the best strikers of his generation was becoming a persistent source of disappointment for Barca, he was not pressing like he used to and he missed more chances than he was converting. On this thread I am sure that many of us old timers could remember some heart breaking misses from Suarez plus his amusing UCL drought. That's why Greizman was signed. Greizman was a brilliant forward for Athletico, and was the best player at Euros 2016 and the third best player in La Liga only behind Messi and Ronaldo, that's why Barca wanted him plus he was a proven finisher and la Liga expert.
Gomez was part of Portugal's team that won Euros in 2016 and he was actually very good in that tournament, that's if you watched Portugal's match without hoping for Portugal to lose because of Ronaldo.
And this talk that Barca only enjoyed success because of Messi is I'm sorry but extremely dumb and stupid.
In the past 20 years the coaches that have not won any trophies with Barca all had Messi in their team yet they won nothing.
It basically shows you that while Messi is good, he still needs people that can bring out his best or everything will fail. So stop this talk that Barca achieved success because of Messi didn't Setien have Messi, didn't Gerrard Martino have Messi, what trophies did they win?
Was Bartomeau's tenure as president geared towards to the business end of things over the sporting one? Yes, it definitely was. Besides you need money to have a successful team. Look at Man City, look at Liverpool, look at Madrid, even Bayern.
Did Bartomeau make mistakes? Yes he did.
Did Bartomeau do anything right? Yes he did.

The third highest revenue generating football club in 2015 was the highest revenue generating club by 2017 and 2018 and even 2019.
What you are calling laughing stock is jealousy. Plain jealousy, look at this thread and see how many trolls it attracts per day, is that being a laughing stock or plain jealousy? The club with the most active social media presence will definitely attract a lot of hate, you are here being affected by trolls and forgetting that Barca is the first club to go through an economic downturn, and it won't be the last you are allowing yourself to be swayed by trolls and claiming that Bartomeau turned Barca into a laughing stock.

Braithwaite, Lenglet, Umtiti, Pjanic (yes, he's still a Barcelona player ), Dest. These are worthless players as far Barcelona is concerned but they're tied to contracts and have all refused to lower wages to move to other clubs.

Braithwaite and Lenglet aren't earning big wages, Umtiti has signed a new contract, Pjanic has part of his wages being paid by Besiktas, Dest was actually signed around the same time as Pedri and his wages aren't outrageous too. So this basis is first of all flawed and goes to no issue.
Going on wages have been reduced multiple times by these players, Barca have gotten a loan from Goldman Sachs, will sell part of their tv rights to the same Goldman Sachs, the Spotify deal, and still Roberto's contract was renewed. Nice sha
