Let's be Honest, we Bloggers Both old and Newbies all want to Increase our Adsense earnings, Adsense is Among the Reasons why most people venture into Blogging Maybe Because they've heard About the Legit way in which Google Adsense pay. One of the many reasons why most bloggers have low adsense earnings is Because of Their Inability to use all Adsense Products . Adsense on your blog or website is not restricted to just Banners , there are also other products like Adsense for search, Adsense matched content and Adsense Page Level Ads. Adsense for search in a nutshell is simply creating a search box on your blog/website which is associated with your Adsense and this is how it works. Let's assume You blog about Music and someone searches a post about Chris Brown using the search box, the Post shows in the search result accompanied by Ads by Google search results related to the keywords in the search which is Chris Brown. Clicks on the ads is an increase to your earnings. Adsense for search is activated on this blog, my Next post on blogging tips would be on how to set up adsense for search. But for now let's focus on the Page Level Ads. ADSENSE PAGE LEVEL ADS When surfing the Web I stumbled upon this on a site Elitesplanetblog.com which was showing ads under the page, I was surprised and ran a Google search and found out what it was, tried implementing it on my site but wasn't approved for it then since it was still in a beta state. Page Level Ads are in two types 1) The Anchor(overlay) Ad which is at the end of your blog page and can be removed by a reader 2) The Vignette Ad which shows ads when a page is being loaded, It's more like a pop ad that shows when you are moving from a page to another right before the other page shows. MORE: Adsense page level ads Don't add to the 3 Units per page rule by Adsense Shows only on mobile-optimized site (this simply means that it may not be visible on some browsers like Opera mini since only the asynchronous ad code type is available) It's a sure bet to Increase your earning since most people Browse with their mobile devices these days. HOW TO SET IT UP Firstly, sign in to Your Adsense Dashboard Click on My Ads >>>> then Content Under Content, look for Page Level Ads (If you can't find it, that means you have to wait till you're approved for it) If you see it, then Proceed Then click on it and Follow the Easy Instructions. Click on 'Get Code' After Enabling the features you'll like (Anchor and Vignette) Copy the Code and save in a Notepad. Believe me, All accounts are vulnerable to hacks, even top professional website are prone to being hacked. On Tuesday, April 5th I experienced hackers on this blog, my 2 Gmail accounts together with 1 yahoo mail were hacked simultaneously. Blogger is more vulnerable due to Google 'one password for everything Google' setup, meaning that once your Gmail password has been gotten, that's enough access to your Blog, YouTube account, Adsense account and the rest. HOW MY BLOG WAS HACKED Ever since I moved into my new apartment for this semester, I've been meeting new people with different ideas and even more people since they knew about this blog. So Ben stays on the same floor with me and actually gave me some SEO videos and yea, he knows somethings about the Internet and stuff. Then, he said he could hack my blog, I actually told him to go ahead if he could then we both laughed it out then he left. To me, I wasn't comfortable with the threat but I kept that aside without knowing he was serious about it. OK, let me not Bore you with the story. After I was hacked and recovered my password using some security questions, I was re-hacked two more times the next day, I had to confront him. Initially he denied, but after 2 days, he called me and told me everything and how to protect my blog which I'll be sharing with you below When I asked him how he got my email address , he told me through Facebook......Facebook? Wait, wait, wait, that's true, my email on Facebook is public and visible to everyone who views my profile. But, my Facebook email is yahoo and not Gmail...... How then did he get my Gmail account? Recovery Emails and Linking: using the recovery email of my yahoo mail, he was able to get my Gmail. NOTE: Open a separate email account for any other mailing activities totally different from the mail used for your blog. Step 2 verification : this is a security measure which allows a one time code to be sent to the recovery phone number of your blog during any login attempt but unfortunately, I couldn't find Nigeria among the List of countries. Domain WHOIS protection : If you used the same email for your blog for your domain registration, you need to protect your personal information from the public such as Name, E-mail, Billing address and the rest. Godaddy sells protection for about $10 yearly, last time I checked. Do not save your password on any device Now let's do some outlining; DO NOT share your blog E-mail to anyone, open a separate E-mail for such. Get a domain WHOIS Protection for your blog for about $10 yearly Setup Step 2 verification for your email, although not available for all countries Don't save your password on any device Use a difficult password having uppercase and symbols e.g oScaRLEE100% Get a good anti-virus for your device to tackle any form of spyware and malware www.oscarleeblog.com/2016/04/how-to-protect-your--blogs-from-hackers.html |

Owerri is the capital of Imo state with so many popular parts such as Ihiagwa, Egbu road, Port Harcourt road, Douglas among others. Douglas is actually very popular because of the market there where you can buy virtually anything ranging from foodstuffs, household items, down to Electronic Gadgets, Infact Douglas is almost Identical to the Alaba market in Lagos. What different about Douglas? For sure, any kind of big markets are prone to thieves, scammers, pickpockets and the rest and Douglas is not an exception, just the level and way it's done here that's different. Below are some experiences of students. "I went to Douglas to buy a pair of shoe, a blue vans to be precise, so when I met the seller 'Aboki' and priced the shoe and he told me N1,500 but after much persuation, I was able to get it for N1,200 being very happy, I decided to pin it, so I gave a shoemaker and left to get other items. When I returned, he told me everything was for N1,500. Lol just for pins being sold for N50 I asked him. He started gingering me and before I knew it, I was surrounded by 5 other guys with guns, I was scared and had to drop the money. I totally spent N2,700 for that single shoe, I couldn't even buy anything again and got into a bus going straight to school. " -Chibueze (MME FUTO) Now, this second one was what I saw when I went to buy a ceiling fan. Just few metres away from me, I saw a guy shouting and chasing a thief who took his wallet, he was screaming at the top of his voice 'thief, thief, thief', and guess what? Everyone were giving way for the thief to run and minding their own business. And this happened in broad day light, I asked myself this, can this ever happen in Aba market? *sighs* There are so many experiences I've heard about which I can't post all here, but Douglas is a very rough area, where my buddy's school fees was stolen. Douglas is run by thieves, pick pockets and gang members who own the place, making people keep quiet and mind their business for their own safety. HOW TO AVOID THEM 1. Don't dress too flashy; Try as much as possible not to wear things that attracts, such as coloured wristbands, expensive clothes and the likes. 2. Try as much as possible to dress SMART so as not to get attention and also be careful of the surrounding SOME PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO TAKE When going to Town, don't carry your phone along Don't carry along too much cash If you want to buy a phone, I advice you wait till you get home incase you stay in places like Lagos, because you're prone to buy fake devices. Well, I guess these post helps someone, feel free to ask questions, drop your contributions and your views. www.oscarleeblog.com/2016/04/douglas-owerri-what-goes-down-there-and-effects-on-students.html |

Good morning all. Yesterday was a really tough day, after battling with fuel n water ish here, I just charged my phone to find out my password to my Gmail had been changed, the person changed the recovery email n phone number, but using the recovery questions, I was able to recover it. Then after few minutes, I got a mail alert of my password being changed again... Aaah wetin I do them na? Re-changed it only for it to be hacked the third time. Geez, no one is safe anymore especially those that use their blogger email for other activities like sign ups, taking of attached Files n d rest. Please I beckon all Web masters and gurus here to enlighten us on how to beef up security of our blogs since step 2 verification is not available to we Nigerians. Moderators, FP pls, bloggers would be grateful for this. |
