PhonesYOUTUBE PHONE REVIEWS: What You Should Know by Illusionale(op): 9:43am On Aug 03, 2022
It is a common thing nowadays to head to YouTube and check out reviews and opinions of content creators of the phone you wish to buy: this singular practice has helped millions of consumers make better informed decisions especially when they watch unbiased, uninfluenced, expert reviews.
I have never bought a Smartphone phone that I did not take time to properly evaluate myself and on YouTube, I mean it’s my money and if I were to buy a bad phone with a very hefty price tag, then that is a mistake I would have to bear for the duration of that phone usage.
This article is stemmed directly from an experience I had yesterday, in which a customer actually raved and cursed at a roadside dealer because they supposedly sold him a bad phone. The phone in question was the spark 8C and the man had bought it for his son because the boy’s school had earlier in the year requested that all students either buy a phone or laptop for I.T studies, Now as the school was on holidays the boy had constantly complained that the device was lagging terribly when he tried to run Call of duty mobile on it and so the enraged father had taken the phone back to the dealer and demanded why they had sold him a bad phone. When further investigations were made -as the man threatened to involve the police if he was not immediately refunded- it was discovered that the boy had chosen the spark 8C because he had seen YouTube and facebook reviews of it which were favourable of the phone’s gaming capabilities, the man had stated that he had had to save up for some time only to be scammed -as he put it- by the phone seller.
Now, I went into that store to provide expert info for some group of A class customers who needed some bit of persuading on some phones and as the incident was unfolding I had to suspend my duties and intervene. And this is the conclusion I have come to.
Be wary of YouTube reviews especially if you are buying an entry level/budget device. When you unbox a phone for the first time, it’s going to respond extremely fast mainly because there are not any user installed apps on it yet. In simpler terms, the phone will not hang or freeze at first, because you have not installed your facebook, whatsapp, tiktok and or snapchat yet. When you eventually do, be it a week after or even sometimes a day, you are going to get that occasional freezes and delays; in the long run, those lags and delays are going to become frequent especially when you have installed a substantial amount of apps and games on it. When you watch YouTube reviewers install call of duty, genshin impact and or pubg mobile on entry level phones, case study Spark 8 (with its 64gbs of storage, Helio p22 processor, extended RAM and what not). The game is almost guaranteed to run fine for the tests, call of duty mobile when installed for the first time occupies about 2.5GBs of space without the additional files, when you run the game in a new account without downloading the additional maps and skins (which can amount to 16GB of storage when everything is installed) the game will run smoothly with little to no lags because 1. It’s a new phone 2. Your first match is going to be against the games A.I characters or bots if you may, which will not provide a lot of device stress compared to when you play against real life intense players.
Think of it this way, It’s like inviting a stranger into your home; first few days , this person will be at his/her best behaviours, in a month or less afterwards, the person true colours will then start to materialise and you will know exactly the kind of person in your home.
The point is this; it pays to know exactly what is under the hood of your Smartphone, YouTube reviewers do exactly this, but nothing beats knowing exactly what the processor and GPU inside your Smartphone can handle, you cannot expect the young he-goat in the base spark 8 to provide the kind of performance that the Lion of Judah inside of the Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra provides.
Be more informed, so that it will not be when you eventually storm a phone store with a maniacal, deathly look in your eyes, you exit humbled and disgraced. Cases like the fairytale above happen all the time to me, young customers come to me and they say; this phone is hanging and I bought it from this store less than a month ago, look I even have the warranty here.
I look at customers like this and I want to say “you bought rubbish and you are expecting paradise in your palm” but as a trained professional, what I say is “oh, sorry you may have too many apps installed, let me help you” and then you give me your phone, I uninstall some apps, clear a few app caches and give you back your phone and then collect your money as well. In your eyes, I may have even worked magic.

No pictures of the said beauty...

what is this racket? tales by moonlight?
Walk into a phone shop sir
This kind of beauty needs to be seen physically not electronically
PhonesThe Camon 19: Beauty With A Mediocre Brain by Illusionale(op):
It is not every day you walk into a phone store and you see a phone as gorgeous as the white version of the latest in the line of Tecno’s Camon.
The camon 19 was released last month and I daresay the design -especially the white coloured version- beats all phones released this year by the top 5 mobile brands in the country; The thing is just a beauty to look at, I have seen beautiful phones; Umidigi A9 pro, samsung s22 and then there’s the white Camon 19. Curved and Tall stands this beauty and no phone at this time dares to oppose. That is the camon 19- FHD display, 6’8 screen, two humongous but strangely inviting cameras, a 5000mah battery and 18w fast charge. If you bought this phone, chances are you cannot resist pointing the lenses at a subject and snapping away all day.
But that’s just about it with the goodness of the camon; under the hood it still has the helio G85 and the Mali-G52 MC2 which are just not good enough for this phone. What I mean, when you hold this phone in your palm and maybe you are walking down a road, people are gonna look at you and think “Man, that guy has something.” The phone’s design creates the impression of class -aesthetic wise, which
now begs the question; why put a mediocre chipset in this beauty?
Cutting costs again, fooling the masses maybe? Or just plain ignorance. Why create something that outstanding and put a young goat in it. The G85 is not a terrible processor, it’s meant for the lower midrange class of devices, if you remember the Infinix note 10 then you might have an idea of what this Camon is capable of, performance wise. It’s not weak; and at the same time just not good enough for the phone is what I would say. For context, the base camon 19 is just slightly better than the Iphone 6s and the pro version which has the Helio G96 -quite decent though- is weaker than the base Iphone 8- that is the normal version of the iphone not the plus.
The base camon will do what you need it to do, the cameras are okay, as usual Transsion packs it with loads of features, when I visited the official page when I was researching the camon, the advert there was filled with lots of different visual effects advertising mostly the camera, glorifying it even. So the cameras are okay, the design is something out of a fairytale- if phones could seduce a man, the camon will, the battery and 18w charge are not bad, the chipset (which is the engine) is a goat.
Transsion woke up one morning, designed a beauty but instead of putting a power horse in it, put a headless tired goat; goats can run a bit, granted- but they are stupid and just don’t work.
Now comes the worse part, the base camon costs upwards of 140k (differs, but its 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, I have not seen a lower storage 64GB version yet) the Pro which is weaker than an Iphone 8! Costs upwards of 210k, check Jumia and other physical major retailers if you doubt. So if you are comfortable with coughing up 140 to 350k for this beauty with a small brain, then by all means sir, carry your relatives and your gourd of palm wine and go and ask for her hand in marriage, the choice is all yours.

OneGeek:
I welcome avenues in this phone section where we can talk about the various sides to what phone brands are doing in the country. While there are sentiments and strong expressions, it's still always nice to see the few people who can see things with a open mind, or at least give such a chance.

Incidentally, the main topic of discourse in the house has been, for a long time, the substandard practices of a certain Transsion company. The concerns are real and while phonelanders can get sentimental about it, I'm all for pointing it out as civilly as possible.

But I also think perspective is key here. At the risk of sounding defensive of the brand, contexts and perspectives to phone brands is a subject I'm willing to discuss at length.

Now, the OP mentioning that Nigeria is too big a market to be neglected by bigger phone brands is quite interesting. This is not a matter of "they can neglect...", They've already done so a long time ago, with very little hopes of reconsidering.

You may ask, "how?" Two main reasons: the entire African smartphone market is still a developing one. People don't buy smartphones as often as you think they do, and that's a major concern for the big players. OP sef reason am, how many people do you know change their phones every year. Every 2 years sef. Consistently. Not much.

The second thing is the economic overhead: sure, the people are there, but what's the cost of operation to cater to them? Big brands like Nokia packed up their bags and left the country at some point. E get why.

So, yes. Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc don't care to include African markets in their plans as of yet. Does that mean you can't buy their products? No. Only means you'll take extra steps to do so.

Which leaves Transsion, a company solely catering to African and Latin American countries. There's a certain argument that I see here that's funny: they say Transsion can't sell their products in China or anywhere else and that's why they "dump" them here in Naija.

Of course, Transsion can't sell their products in those places! Like, they're only to spec for African markets, that's all it is! Is it fair? Ethical? Up to international standards? Take it up with the economic forces at play!

See: companies have goals, and in a capitalist system, consumers are means to an end. That's why I respect the Xiaomi community for trying to DIY things for themselves, because the reality is, Xiaomi no really send your papa, especially at the budget-midrange level. Thank goodness it's beginning to show with their questionable decisions on their recent Redmi Note series.

You get what you get with these companies. And if you have the money, you can climb up the ladder a little. Which is why it stirs me when I see certain brand "lovers" or "admirers" absolutely sh**ting on another brand based on details like performance and value for money.

Banters and fanboyism aside, consumers are exactly the same. It's easy to say person A's phone choices are moronic and dumb now, but careful, your fave might serve you breakfast too!
Do you reside in Lagos? Sir
If you do, or any mega city for that matter
Please do well to visit a phone shop
Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have already stuck their feet deep in the market.
In Lagos alone, we receive lot of orders for these brands.
Xiaomi and Oppo are the new big boys in town, for every successful sales day;
These two brands make up at least 40 percent.
They are very much interested sir in Nigeria.
Umidigi, black view, vivo, Gionee, Xiaomi, Oppo have all dug their teeths into our tech fabric and they are not leaving any time soon.
I kid you not.
PhonesTranssion: The Business Model That Did Not Fail by Illusionale(op):
‘Steer clear of the High end market’
‘Use lower performance chips instead of high end ones and push big batteries as a selling point; who are we describing here? You know the name, the man, the enigma- Ladies and Gentleman-Transsion. The second most popular smart phone maker in the country behind Samsung and even higher placed than apple. Everybody knows this company and its sub brands; tecno, infinix and Itel. Over the years, they have grown from being just “chinko” to a household name and they look continually ever young, ask any tech people or Smartphone enthusiast and you will be told- they -Transsion- can still improve and be better before they can compete with the big boys. That is the mindset Transsion creates; we can be better, we are young and growing.
But the truth of the matter is this; Transsion is at the top of where they aspired to be, they never wanted to be the big dog or the brand with the ‘strongest phone’, what they wanted -and what they currently are- was to be the king of the midrange and budget class.
Years ago- 15 to 20 years to be precise- if you asked someone which phone maker was the best and biggest, instantly you heard the name Nokia or Sony- they offered internet downloads, freedom to install games and different kinds of applications; remember the Nokia C2 and Xpress music and of course my all time favourite, the Nokia 5300, you could do more than just browsing and calling, you could download games from waptrick, wapdam and it even had it own app store- those were the days, I remember endless hours of the Gangstar series, prince of Persia, Modern combat. At that time, tecno and Itel were the china battery phones, there were a few Tecno and Itel phones that could run downloaded games at that time, but they couldn’t for long periods of time as the phones regularly forced closed the game due to memory, if you played for too long- whenever you purchased a new Itel/tecno phone during that period, the first thing you would see after the big red carton packaging was “big battery” and of course “big screen.” These features are still here today and perhaps that is what Transsion is all about.
-Put a big screen there
- Alright, Insert that big battery
- Nah, remove that high performance chip and put a weaker, older one
- get a plastic casing
- Are you sure this body design is the current trending type?
-alright, put a stripped 50mp camera (our customers do not know that Mega pixels aren’t the only important things in a camera)
- wait! Make sure that camera has portrait mode, portrait is trending now
- Oya sign a big artiste, good... we are ready for business.
Transsion was never there to compete with the big boys at inception- Samsung, Sony and Nokia were locked horns at a particular period for CPU performance and camera- Transsion just stood, decided to join and when it hit them that what Nigerians at that time -and even now- appreciated was battery capacity, they left the battle, went home and came up with what we have now; Big batteries, weaker chips and okayish cameras- talk about genius business, acknowledging that the bane of the country’s tech growth is power generation, cutting costs and making tons of profit. Nokia and Sony ultimately fell, Transsion -who were wise enough to see their own demise and had tactically forfeited that earlier battle- stands strong today and dominates alongside Brother Sammy. Yesterday, I witnessed a new Itel phone selling for 50k before my very eyes, hehehe madness!
In my last post, someone told me Transsion were the only brand that cared about the country because of the inflation and as a result produces lower priced phone. I did not have a good response at that time, now I believe I do;
Nigeria is a country of well over 150 million people, An African tech giant and has more than 3 really big tech market; Alaba... lets not name names. Lagos on its own is a silicon valley, douglas in owerri is as well, everywhere you go, you will see stands, shops, offering one tech service after another. The point is this; no smart phone maker will look at the Nigerian market and say “nope, there aren’t enough opportunities there” you would be blind to say that. If Transsion left, more would troop in, believe that.

Ladies and gentleman- Transsion

Kindly point out a decent phone i can get for 70k in 2022, that Can last till 2024 please. Just because 70k seems hefty to you, doesn't mean it is, we are talking about $118 here.

You are being very biased if you say a phone within that price range should compete with high end phones which sits well over $200 just because of inflation, don't blame transion blame your leaders or yourself for not being able to raise the bar and perhaps afford a decent phone.
Obviously the point here is that you are wealthy and can afford better devices -Not bad, that is very good infact
But I do not think your opinion is relevant anymore

Like someone has pointed up there, folks don't really understand the economics behind budget smartphones these days. And it's always been a weak "X phone can't play efootball 2022, it's trash" narrative.

Do you know much purchasing power your 70k has today? If you knew, you wouldn't expect it to suddenly get you a power beast, simply because you struggled to save it up.

The price imbalance is real, people! And things are going to get worse for smartphone buyers. The chip shortage isn't stopping anytime soon, and it will soon start trickling down to midrange and budget devices.

As I see it, it's even better to have companies like Transsion that care about the budget class here in Africa, because left for higher end brands, they couldn't care less.

So, Tecno and Infinix aren't the problem, it's always been the guys who are interested in benchmarks and numbers but don't understand that these things come with significant tradeoffs and budget cuts these days.
I understand your point sir, but do not address it as care.
This is business and business is and will always be business
It is their business model and they have been executing it with perfection since day one- cut costs and recycle old, about- to die chips and market it effectively.

This is a lie only an uninformed brainwashed person can believe not me, 70k will never get you a decent phone that will perform up till 2024,

70k will only get you a used phone possible from 2 years back, without software update and support, a decent camera maybe, but every other thing will be old.
Op you seems to forget that software optimization does a lot for android phones. Yes old chips but those apps can be optmized, and will work well, but performance won't be the same as that of a high end phone. It can last up to 2 years if you use it well.

70k will never get you a decent phone, 100k and above will, but until we start electing the right people, a 3 year old used phones won't stop selling for 150k+.... Nonsense.
Kind sir, please stop ranting
70k and 83k can and will get you a decent phone... You seemed to have missed a critical point in the post, transsion is not the only phone company in Nigeria but are simply dominant. There are other phone brands albeit with minimal parts availablity.
Check well sir.
An op mentioned earlier that usage pattern determine how long a phone will last, check above- That op was very correct.
The problem as mentioned in the post is that the spark 8c is too underpowered to command such a hefty price tag.
Please check the specs of the spark and if you can still put these same words in typing- then sir I have nothing else to say to you.
Thank you

I bought my infinix phone on November 2019 and I'm still using it till today(am even typing this with it) and it has NEVER given me any issues, even the battery which is 4000mah still serves me efficiently.

There are still those who bought the so called "superior phones" and it didn't last them up to a year before developing one fault or another.

I believe it all boils down to how you use and manage your device if you use it very well it will last for you if you mishandle it it won't last for you.

I rest my case.
Well said.
I understand you use your phone minimally and that boils down to character and or work demand. However for medium to heavy users and even some customers who wish to experiment/ try new apps, they quickly find they are in a puddle of waste as their device cannot cope.
PhonesThe Problem Of Transsion by Illusionale(op): 1:56pm On Jul 08, 2022
Every business corporation that is established under the face of the sun is built for one main purpose and that is to generate profits. That is the single basic goal of every single company you patronise. When costs of production and or inflation are high, profit becomes harder to make and different companies look for different ways to address this issue and get back on track.
We know Transsion (the makers of ITEL, INFINIX and TECNO) they are not a Nigerian company but one of their biggest markets is in this country; almost every household that owns at least two phones has one Transsion device. That is genius business and marketing, in fact just as Android is dominating Smartphone charts globally- Transsion is dominating the Nigerian mid-range and budget class of phones, Samsung undisputedly dominates the flagship Range -Android wise- so as you can tell already, these companies are powerhouses in the country.
But there’s a big problem with Transsion, and this is an issue of cutting costs- giving you less while charging more. This is what I mean;
Every single day, technology improves (it is dynamic after all) - Mobile phone apps get bigger and more complex, new features are added and generally the apps get more resource demanding; Facebook, twitter, snapchat, tiktok and some of your games; Call of duty’s Warzone mobile could potentially release later this year, Rainbow six next year, same as valorant and some other games. Efootball mobile’s graphics were reduced upon update from Efootball PES 2021, COD mobile got better, PUBG and NEWSTATE had updates too, even chrome- Androids default browser gets regular updates, and there is not an app in your device that builds up so much cache files in so short a time as chrome, and we know what cache files do ultimately; they slow down your phone- the idea is this, apps are getting more complex everyday and so should your phone’s processor. Battery wise as well - The current standard for batteries nowadays is 5000mah, it is no longer an achievement, if a new phone releases and has less, customers are gonna be like “what is this?” The punch line is this; the processors that Transsion is putting in their devices cannot hold, they can’t stand much anymore, two years ago, they could. In 2022 they can’t.
Are you planning on using your spark 8c (with its helio p22) for snapchat next year? -You may have to, inflation is still high in the country, and I don’t believe prices are dropping anytime soon. ASUU is still on strike so no pocket money for some students to save up and buy phones they want; so you have to work your socks off and then when you do, you go and buy the spark 8C or the Hot 12i- the spark costs 70k plus and runs on an engine that should be used on phones that costs less than 40k, the Hot costs 82k plus and runs on a chipset that is meant for 45k phones. Come on sir, you deserve better than that. This paragraph summarizes everything that is wrong with Transsion; putting older, weaker chips in new phones and charging you at the same price range that flagships and other mid-range phones do. 70k of your hard earned money should get you a decent Smartphone that will perform at the top for at least two years, phone efficiency dropping is a normal thing -wear and tear- but with the features that Transsion put in their devices, they will just wear at a faster rate.
One last thing for you critics, plastic backs on a phone is a budget feature, plastic is the least most valuable of phone covers and when it breaks, it surely does- it will make your phone look cheaper and if you were to go in for swapping and whatnot, your phone will be priced extremely low. Do not be surprised when a phone you bought for 80k gets priced at 25k before your very eyes.
Thank you- criticism is highly valued.
Sparrow.

We know them, the big company dominating the midrange and budget class of smart phones in this country. Every year they dish out new devices accompanied with colourful ads purposefully tailored to appeal to the taste of their customers; they are masters at this, after all they have been here since the very beginning.
You cannot not enter any mobile shop or repair office and find a scarcity of their parts and or devices, they have become so embedded into the very fabric of the Nigerian mobile device network and honestly they do not seem to be leaving anytime soon; their market awareness has given birth to dominance and success, and this success has in turn birthed a sort of monopoly and now ultimately it has conceived a menace.
let me tell you a short story; last week at the office, our manager- who is not the most savvy in tech- complained to me and our software engineer that the infinix Note12i that he test ran dream league 2022 on was lagging terribly, he said and I quote “that phone is rubbish, how can a phone cost so much and be that useless.”
I laughed when I heard this, I was not laughing because of the lag, Instead it was because of the way he had spoken and the consequential meaning of his words- this is what I mean; A non tech savvy customer complaining that his note12i which costs an upwards of 104k (that is some people’s arm, leg and feet if you may) could not run dream league without lag. It was funny...extremely. As a techie however, and I know some of us techies might be thinking right now, the game should not lag- at least when set to medium to high graphics settings. I asked for and checked the graphics settings of the game on the phone- keep in mind, this phone was straight out the box...unused- the graphics was set to very high and 60fps with no force override. The game was lagging seriously, the menu screens took a 2 second delay to navigate. I lowered the graphics and gave it back to him and he went back, smiling to his doings.
I got curious however, this device advertises 90 Hz screen refresh rate, a G85 chip and a not too bad octa core build of SOCs and 4gbs of RAM. So what I did was install the game on my Umi A9 pro and the set it to the highest graphics- this device has 6 GB of RAM, a weaker helio P60 and a decent SOC build. Both devices have decent GPUs though I believe the G52 on the Note is better than the A9s G72 and the Note even has a better ANTUTU score. The game ran well with small dips in frames initially (in other words little lag) and became smooth on the A9 pro when I turned off the data connection. I was puzzled, but decided to end my testing there. (Maybe someone else can do more testing?)
The bottom line is, TRashion is charging too much for too little, our software engineer told me they are cutting costs in production, which is very bad considering the costs of their phones. I got my hands on the Spark 9t three days ago and it had a helio G37 processor! A phone that costs 78k for the 4/64 GB version and 88k for the 128GB! Madness! What are we supposed to do with a G37? Play subway surf? ( no disrespect to subway surfers, it’s a good game anyways- just not power demanding)
TRashion is playing with fire- Nigerian fire to be precise and they will soon get burnt (figuratively speaking o...) let them continue- OPPO, REDMI and VIVO and maybe UMIDIGI (if they can make their parts more readily available) are planning war. hehehe
And just to add as a tease for someone here- the Umidigi A9 pro is the most beautiful phone you will hold in your hands, believe me when I say this, power wise; nothing special, aesthetic wise, it is just beautiful.

PhonesExtended RAM; Huge Price Tag For Relatively Nothing by Illusionale(op): 9:41am On Jun 30, 2022
You may have seen it; the bolded black text on the pack or an advertisement board of a phone stating quite plainly that the phone has the potential to have its RAM extended virtually by utilising the internal storage to improve performance.
Extended/ Virtual RAM is not exactly new technology, It’s been around in different shapes and forms in computers and on some phones (before SSD drives, you could plug a USB stick into your computer and use the USB as a RAM) It made your computer handle a little bit more task without force closing other programs depending on the available size on the stick. And that is exactly what Extended does on your phone, it doesn’t make your device faster, that’s what your CPU is for, it only gives your phone a lit bit more pocket to hold additional apps. If your device lags and hangs during normal usage or gaming, it will still lag even with the extended thingy.
last week Friday; I was seated on my chair with my boss playing Efootball on my phone and this customer with a huge smile on his face, approached me and said ‘can you send that game to my phone, I just bought it?’- I look from this customer’s face to the phone in his palm and I just smile. My boss looks at me and asks, ‘what’s wrong?’ in pidgin actually. I ask the customer what (sparky) is that and he replied 8 with a smile. I glance at my boss and I can see him trying very...very hard to stifle a laugh.
Good old TRASHION (you know the company) advertises the technology as a big thing, fact is; It’s not. The (sparky) 8 features a helio p22 (a four year old, low end processor) 64gb of storage and 2 GB of RAM with this extended nonsense and costs upward of 70k in physical retail stores; hmmph... Talk about ripping customers off. How are they doing this? Let me tell you; They make a 2gb Ram phone like the sparky above and paste EXTENDED RAM on it to appeal to their customers.
Know this and know peace, if you bought this phone, it has 2 GB of RAM- 2 sir, do not think of it as 4 (The extended thingy should be a feature you can toggle at will not and should not be main seller) and possesses a very weak, old processor. IF you are a gamer, you will cry if you try to run a heavy triple A game on it. And remember the cost? The only sparky that I can say is worth your hard earned money is the pro (not the P) and factually speaking, that’s you agreeing to be cheated. You can get even better devices for its price.

Be wiser; don’t fall for this bull crap. If you want to get a true 4gb or whatnot RAM device, save up and get it; if it possesses extended RAM, it should be a side feature and not advertised as a big big thing, don’t compromise dear sir/ma.

GamingDo Not Do These If You Are A Gamer by Illusionale(op): 10:30am On Jun 10, 2022
This post contains my very own guide as well as worldwide accepted tips for competent gaming.
So without much ado, let’s kick it off with the very first thing on the list.
Heat: gaming under extremely hot conditions can prove to be very uncomfortable for yourself and your device. Heat can cause self under-clocking in CPUs and GPUs, this is an automatic process in which the CPU under clocks itself in order to reduce heating and consequently dropping performance which in turn can lead to lag and frequent stuttering, especially if you are using a low end device that barely crosses the minimum threshold of the game. Heat also causes extreme sweating, and if you are a mobile gamer, this can lead to your fingers getting slippery and you already can imagine what this might lead to.
Bluetooth earphones; yes they are cool and do can extend your listening distance, but they are also prone to latency problems. What this means is audio feed reaching your ears seconds after the game has already played a particular sound. Yesterday, I played call of duty mobile with Oraimo necklace 3 lite and the sound feed was very slow. I was hearing footsteps and gun shots a second later. It was not pleasant gaming. Use wired earphones; they save you additional processing power and are really good. I personally recommend Oraimo wired earphones, they are great and are great at relaying positional audio; they tell you which directions your enemies are based on footstep sounds.
Do not play with 3g networks; you may not know this, but; ping and latency are very important gaming concepts. “I shot him first” “I saw Him first” and “my game just lagged” and the famous and dreaded “guy, my character just froze and returned back to where I had passed” are effects of latency. High latency (which is bad for your gaming) is one of the many things plaguing 3g connectivity. Find 4g and have peace of mind. I recently played an Efootball PVP match on a 3g network; the lag was something else entirely, each pass or action I took had a tendency to return back to sender, literally.
Avoid noisy environments; last thing you will need as a gamer asides high ping is noise and disturbance. You need concentration and peace to do your thing.
Do not play music while playing competitive shooter games that utilise positional audio like APEX Legends mobile or CODM, unless it’s a racing game like asphalt and need for speed ( then yes, play all the music you want; I personally recommend playing thank God by Riles, you will certainly feel like the boss that you are).

That all for now

PhonesWhat Does Your Current Device Say About You by Illusionale(op): 10:10am On Jun 09, 2022
What does your current phone say about you…
Disclaimer: hehehe this is only for fun and nothing to be taken with too much seriousness.

The iPhone users- the trend lovers, ahh…these set of humans love trend. They are not necessarily gamers, they love photography only because they like show off. It’s not their fault anyways; you can’t have an iPhone and not take sweet pictures. If only they know they amount of sheer processing power that is contained in their devices . These people are mostly influencers, bloggers and trend setters, I do not believe they fancy hard sweaty work.

The Samsung users- depending on the class…these users are our classy humans, they love trends bit don’t like too much showoff. The Galaxy users are the coolest people you will meet on planet Earth. They are confident, know what they want and are most likely work at a bank, they can also be writers or forex traders and sometimes photographers. They love trends but their zeal for class overshadows every other thing.

The itel user- hahaha, these are our born and bred Nigerians.. hustlers in all ramifications, these people love money and do not give much pig’s fart about class.. their motto is hustle and money first. They are mostly parents anyways hahaha… parts are readily available for them because these humans are money driven and do not want to have their work slowed down. They also understand Nigeria which is why they love big batteries. Performance does not concern them in any way,

Tecno and Infinix users- our very own “buy because parts dey” .. these sets of humans love class and trend but do not like spending too much; they are the in-betweeners. They do the normal jobs: teaching, banking, sales.. these people do not like too much tech stress. The techies among them do not want “part no dey” scenarios.

The vivo, Redmi, Umidigi, oppo users- ourp enlightened ones… the humans who spend time analysing specs and performance before buying.. you can’t fool these techies, they possess the Know how; after all they are the bad boys of tech. I bet you their motto is “ my money for value”. Availability of parts do not scare them, they know how to use Alibaba and escrow very well. They are also the most patient phone users on earth. They know what their device offers and do not stress too much.

The outkitel and other strange human beings- give a hand for our mysterious humans. Strange define these people. They are like our enlightened ones just somewhat stranger.. fear them.
These humans would want to buy an iPhone 13 class device for just 50k. They like performance but do not like to spend much. Very strange set of humans. They Know parts do not exist, yet they buy…haba… hahaha fear them oo.

GamingDo These, If Your Phone Hangs During Gaming by Illusionale(op): 9:54pm On May 23, 2022
You have gotten your mobile device, and as most people do, you try to install the latest games on it, some install and run fine while-
1. Some install but the gameplay lags and stutters immediately after launch
2. Some do not install at all.
This Post will be divided into three parts posted on different days; two will be direct answers to the two problems listed above. The third will feature recommendations on how to play and enjoy your games.
This guide will provide you with general info as to why you experienced the problems in each category. before we get further however, I would like to point this out any reading this and who wishes to game on their android device; the current games being released on this OS are mostly Online games and are getting more graphically demanding with each passing release, and as such the baseline for SoCs for any phone you wish to buy and play games on should be the Helio P60 and at least 4gb of RAM. 3GB of RAM is only acceptable if you have a monster CPU. Enough side talk lets dive into the main guide.
.
So you installed the game on your phone and after a few minutes, the frame rate/ fps drops (what this means is that the game began to hang, stutter) and your device meets the required or minimum specs needed for the game. Well, here are a few things you can do.
• Check your background apps and close them, this is the basic, press the recent apps button on your device and close other running process/apps
• If your device has gotten hot, or you are gaming in a very hot environment, consider leaving that location. Let it be known to you that gaming or any process that is graphically demanding in a device is not friends with heat. An overheating CPU/GPU will under clock in order to reduce heat, when this happens, your game will slow down in other for the device to cool.
• Clear app caches such as those belonging to Chrome and or facebook or whatsapp, you can do this by tapping and holding the app, selecting app info and clearing cache not storage. You can execute this action if you are using the XOS launcher or any similar launcher that supports press and hold to select app info. If you can’t do this, click the settings app and navigate apps and execute the action.
• Force close apps such as Whatsapp, facebook and chrome. These apps even though they are not gaming apps are very resource intensive. To force close an app, head into each app settings and click force close. The app will stop running and will start from afresh when next you open it.
• Consider leaving the game and returning in the night or evening when the weather is cool, I personally recommend this. As a hardcore gamer, I never play games on a hot afternoon, especially Call of duty mobile. The last thing I need is having to wipe my sweaty palms on my body in the middle of a gun fight.
• If you device was charging during the installation process, disconnect the charger, place your device on a cool surface, if your floor is tiled, put your phone on it. Marble tiles are great conductors of heat, in less than a few seconds; you will discover that your device has cooled to manageable temperatures.
• Look for and install older versions of the game. If it’s not an online game, consider searching for older versions to install, from side load websites. This will be especially helpful if the newer version you have just installed features graphical updates to the game.
• Turn off your data, it helps a lot. If the game is playable both online and offline, then you can turn off your data. Online gaming demands a lot of resources from your device so if the game can be played offline, there is no need turning your data on. You can even put airplane mode on. I do this whenever I play PES mobile, not because of lag but because I do not like interruptions of any kind.
• And last but certainly not the least. DO not use Bluetooth earphones to play games. Yes I said it and it would interest you to know that I am not the only one that has saad it. Gaming with Bluetooth earphones is only acceptable if you have a monster device or CPU, if you don’t, the Bluetooth runtime will place its tiny load on your already struggling CPU and that little task might just be the final nail on your CPU’s coffin. Buy wired earphones. Bluetooth earphones are often guilty of audio lag- what this means is that the video and audio might not be in sync and you may often hear actions seconds after they have already happened.

Thats it for the first post

PhonesHow To Buy The Best Phone For You by Illusionale(op): 7:24pm On May 21, 2022
Here's how
So you have saved up enough money for a new Android phone. Maybe it’s been a while since you last owned a smart phone or it could be that you just wish to upgrade to a better one. My name is Sparrow (it’s a gaming name) Technical adviser, gamer and Writer and swing trader at the NSE and I am here to advise you on what device you should get. Relax; we aren’t going deep in to the very fabric of smart phone builds. We are merely going to scratch enough ground to let you know the basics and what you should expect from each category of phone that you decide to pick and spend your money on.
Retailers and Smartphone makers categorise devices based on three main categories, these are the FLAGSHIP, MIDRANGE and BUDGET categories, budget devices are the low end devices and Flagships are the pride of the manufacturer. To the average Smartphone user in this country however, Phones are categorised by what they can do, what I mean is this;
1. Does the battery last
2. Is the camera sharp
3. How many gigabytes of RAM
4. how about the Internal Storage
5. What Android version does it run

We are beyond the days of Finger print? 4g? The above are the questions that at least 6 out of 10 customers ask us.
So the gist is this; If you want to buy a phone for ;
Battery; chances are that you are a heavy user or that the locale you reside in lacks adequate electricity (almost all of us are victims of this anyways). Well if this is your category, you are advised to buy devices with ATLEAST 4500Mah of battery juice, most new devices come with better Soc (that is System of Chip or CPU) that manage battery life quite well. With this amount of battery life, you should at most worry about charging once every 8-10 hours.
RAM and storage; if you are in this category, it could be you are a heavy gamer or a multimedia Editor. I will say this to you now, if you are a gamer, you should check every grainy detail about the phone you are buying and in terms of the SoC/ Processor, never go below the Helio-P60, 4gbs of Ram and the P60 should be the lowest you should go for any phone you want to buy as a gamer or an editor.
Camera; you check the camera spec; it says 48mp for the rear camera, not bad. However you must not forget to check the aperture and focal lengths. Megapixels are only one out of the many components of a camera and are certainly not the most important. Forget what that Man in a face cap with a never ending smile and smooth lines tell you, Nowadays smart phone companies portray pixels as the might of a phones camera; the higher the pixel, the better the picture. No, that is not the truth- pixel size, processing algorithms, and sensors should also be considered. 48mp is the new trend and I won’t be wrong to say if you are a photographer or a model or whatever it is you do, the barest minimum should be 12mp and 0.8micrometer for the pixel size. Something to note, small pixels allow for more increments in the picture resolution, while higher pixel sizes allow more light to enter the camera sensors. So if you do night photography, a phone with larger pixel size and not megapixels will suffice.
Android version; Gone are the days when Android version updates were the rave of Smartphone users. Those days, getting android updates were things of joy and excitement because you knew you were about to get new features and improvements to a lot of things on your phone. Nowadays, not everybody cares, my device runs on Android 10 and I am okay with it. Android version 8 still receives security updates, so buying a device running that version will not pose you with too many headaches and if you do buy a midrange or flagship device running Android 8, check the software update, you can possibly upgrade to 9 or 10. Buying below this version however may expose you to security risks and potential bugs as those earlier versions do not receive updates and patches anymore. You also may not be able to run newer versions of your favourite’s apps and games especially if the version is below 6.
So that should be all for now. The name is sparrow; I am your very own tech Advisor, you can ask me anything regarding phones and Mobile gaming and I will definitely answer. If you need me to write a content for you;
