This move by the Federal Ministry of Education is unconstitutional. It offends Section 38 (2), which provides as follows: "No person attending any place of education shall be required to receive instruction or to take part in or attend any religious ceremony or observance if such instruction, ceremony or observance relates to a religion other than his own or a religion not approved by his parent or guardian." Section 38 (2) is so succinct and straightforward that it requires no further adumbration from me. Except to summarize: This move is patently unconstitutional: Drop it |
The ECOWAS COURT OF JUSTICE has given so many judgments in the past. These are its challenges::: 1. The court is an abnormal court. It is a trial court of first instance but also a final court because there is no appellate court or chamber. If it makes mistakes or the judges act arbitrarily, there is nothing a litigant can do. 2. It solely interpretes the law, including the law that grants it jurisdiction. In situations where a litigant disagrees with its interpretation of the law, there is nothing he or she can do. 3. ECOWAS court, like other regional courts, operates on the principle of litigants fully exhausting domestic or local remedies as a basis for assuming jurisdiction. But, this court acts as a busy body. It is too anxious to assume jurisdiction in the most trivial of cased. Member countries should device means to curtail this unmerited exuberance. 4. This court has no enforcement mechanisms or powers. To enforce its decisions, it relies on the goodwill of the governments and judiciaries of member states. As it is now, the court is on collision course with Nigeria. 5. Taking an overly activist stand could jeopardise the independence, integrity and longevity of the court. For it to succeed, it needs to navigate its path adroitly. For now, dark clouds are gathering and a storm is an expected corollary |
I am confused and earnestly searching for answers to the following questions: 1. Was the student able to finish writing her chemistry examination? 2. If yes, has she been examined and passed or failed? 3. She stated that she wants justice to be done. What does she want the school authorities to do for her? Unlike many others who commented against her, I believe the student. My reason is simple: The relationship between a student and a lecturer can best be defined, in power equation, as an unequal relationship. One has some power over the other while the other has no power over the other. The one party who has power is in a superior position to assert the power legitimately or illegitimately. |
3 contradictions: No. 1. The husband is impotent No. 2. The husband is a womanizer No. 3. The marriage is blessed with 2 children All statements from the wife The judge has his job cut out for him!!! |
Dr. Iweala never believed in Nigeria. When she was made Minister, the first time, she rejected receiving her salary in naira. She insisted and got paid in us dollars. What manner of finance minister is this? In a suit a court, the court held that her action was unlawful and unconstitutional. Yet, this shameless woman refused to resign. She also refused to refund the dollars as directed by the court. 2. She paid hundreds of millions of dollars from recovered Abacha stolen funds on the basis of note of approval from the president. This contravened the constitution in Tha all funds must be duly appropriated. But, she totally ignored this basic requirement. 3. Let her eat her trajectories and leave us to manage the fallout of her tragic incompetence and megalomania!!! |
10 acres roughly equals 4 hectares. That is a huge land for vegetables production and not just tomatoes. Just ensure that the land is well drained and not water-logged. Bush burning or caterpillar clearing? Either has its benefits and challenges. Local peculiarities preclude evaluation of cost. But, caterpillar clearing compacts the land while bush burning burns the top soil nutrients. In the end, it is your choice as you can always amend the soil to give you your desired nutrient levels |
Well done, crystalf. I salute your courage and determination. I know how difficult it is for the youth from the southern states of Nigeria to take to farming, especially vegetables. This is because of the usual peer pressure that interprets farming as only for the aged, the uneducated and the poor. But, all these stereotypes are untrue. It is 'easy' money from oil that brought on that mindset. Beside, farming could be lucrative if done with the benefit of knowledge. I am a greenhouse vegetables producer in Jos We produce beef tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, lebanese cucumbers, squashes, cabbages (chinese, english, etc.) sweet bell peppers (red, green, white, purple, yellow) and many other vegetables. We also produce herbs and spices like coriander, thyme, rosemary, etc. So, my brother, do not give up!!! I will be available to offer you free advice not only on growing but also in terms of storage, transportation and marketing |
Prosecute the Federal High court judge whose name is linked to collecting N225,000 bribe. Secondly, prosecute the Chief Judge of the Federal High court for receiving N8mln from a related party in contravention of judges code of conduct. This will serve as |
Brilliant comments from bright minds! I am learning a lot from all of you guys. Thank you so much |
Dominique, I sympathise with you. But, just know that sickle cell anemia is not a death sentence. I consciously married my wife at a time I knew she had the SS genotype. That was about 20 years ago. I ditched a medical doctor for her, who predicted that hospital would be our 2nd home. Marrying my wife was one of the best decisions I have made. We have 3 children and we have managed them well. You, too, Dominique, can, even better than us. But, fist things first: 1. Try to learn a lot on the subject, including care and 'Donts' 2. Avoid sensational and senseless suggestion from uninformed, illiterate and mis-informed quacks and charlatans 3. Avoid any spiritual treatment. None of them work: whether it is from mosque, church or traditional shrine 4. There is treatment in Austria and US for SS. Your son would fully revert to AA status. But the treatment is very, very expensive. Before the recent Naira devaluation, it costs about N35 mln 5. The good news is that the University of Benin Teaching Hospital has successfully carried out this reversal in Nigeria. It costs a fraction of the foreign cost: about N12mln. You should enquire 6. Finally, get an experienced and competent haematologist. Your child would leave the valued and living life God has destined for him Wishing you the best |
