RIP to him. I agree to this.

IBB destroyed what would have been Prof. Nwosu greatest legacy.
So who is lying in IBB and Nwosu? IBB said that Nwosu suspended the June 12 elections till further notice without his knowledge, and this came before any court order.

What is funny is the man that stole the election Babangida is alive and is recieving support from APC members why arnt they doing anyth8ng about him instead they are going for an innocent professor that had his hands tied up till now why hasnt oshiomole brought babangida to face his crimes cowards

Did your APC members not attend Babangidas book launch the same man that led to Abiolas demise o

But as usual you want to pin it on an igbo man like i said you are all cowards
The evidence on ground suggest otherwise dear, we were not all born 20years ago. While we all know and heard that IBB was sly and "Maradona", he did not leave any such trace or mark, and his testimony from before and his recent book says he wasn't guilty. Even Nwosu said IBB wasn't guilty. But we all know about the results of the June 12 elections where 3 out of the 4 "South East" states then voted against Abiola and for Tofa (a usual format of the SE against SW candidates).
Arthur Nzeribe from the SE owned the Association for Better Nigeria (ABN) that called for four more years for the IBB administration, got two court orders, one to postpone the Presidential elections, and the second to stop the release of the results of the elections.
It was Nduka Irabor from the South East, that read out the annulment of the June 12 presidential elections.
These things are nothing to me but you don't make these things up consistently, and your gaslighting people consistently makes people like me have to say and restate the facts as a reminder to those who care to know.

The Military got a court order that was served on him. You would prefer him to have disobeyed the court. The man wrote a book, he said it on TV. We pay too much attention to distorted accounts by the people that wanted to change the account of events. We should read a lot of books to know what happened to our country
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keSD3BCqsUo?si=H8KhMSQBMb-zUIU0
IBB's book said differently, IBB said Nwosu suspended the results before the court order.
"after that suspension of the announcements of results, ABN obtained another ‘strange’ court order from Justice Saleh’s court in Abuja, stopping the release of the results of the elections."

He ignored a court order to conduct the elections.

Nwosu cannot officially declare anyone winner based on projection, that's not how it works. He could not declare someone winner based on incomplete results. He was waiting for the last state, Taraba, to get to him before doing that but was ambushed before that. He was ordered to stop collation, but still headed to court to get June 12th to stand

If you guys wanted Nwosu to face generals with guns and be killed, Nwosu is a civil servant, not an activist. Those to blame are those who prevented Nwosu from completing his job
For one, i don't exactly blame him but it shouldn't be argued that he did his job right and deserves national honours. i am not against honouring him, people with less achievement have been honoured and his honour doesn't add or remove anything from me.
There was no projection, everyone knew the winner not the number. By June 14th. They were only awaiting the REC from Taraba with over 2million vote gap. Then he got a court order to stop announcing, same way he got a court order not to conduct elections. He went to court for a June 25th meeting and was disbanded or removed June 23. Between 14th to 23rd, he was the referee. He doesn't have a record of declaring the winner until 2008. The result was completed before he was removed from his job. He conveniently chose not to declare, so people should stop asking for full compensation and honours for what he didn't do. This civil servant claimed to go ahead and conduct elections and walk into the Aso Rock liar at will.

gidgiddy:
Didn't you watch the video where Nwosu clearly stated that he could not announce results while waiting for the last results from Taraba State? You guys wanted Nwosu to declare the winner based on incomplete results?

It was while waiting for Taraba results that Nwosu was ambushed, and ordered to stop collation of results. We are talking about Generals with guns.

Despite that, Nwosu still went to court to insist that the elections must stand, and tendered the complete results in court, which made it a public document. It is based on having access to the results that MKO has any right to claim victory.

Nwosu does not have to be immortalised, but he should be given his due acknowledgement. Had the man not brought June 12th results out to the public domain, the winner would have been speculation to this day
Of the 6.6 million votes that had been announced, Abiola had received 4.3 million and Tofa 2.3 million. The world knew the winner already, it was a formality waiting for taraba results. Instead Nwosu said that the election was inconclusive. He had until June 23 or so that he was removed as chairman. He didn't say anything until 15years after. There was no speculation there, results were shown to everyone and on the dailies.

His latest book was authored in 2008 - a whole 15 years after the June 12, 1993 elections. How convenient!

More like the referee of a compromised football game announcing that the outcome of a world cup final match (played 15 years prior) was compromised - after the winner had been declared and the cup presented.

That makes a lot of sense!
cool

Never knew oshiomole is a yorubaman.
The only genuine friend you have in nigeria are the Yorubas.
But you've since made them realize their folly in their hospitality.

That unwarranted aggression/antagonism against them is ur greatest undoing in this country.

Very close to the illustration that I made. How can the referee just be saying that it is a goal 15years after the match? He's saying everybody knew that it is a goal but during the match, he said it is inconclusive. Abiola was arrested for self-declaring what Nwosu failed to declare. So it's easy to see the reason why the SW seem upset.

If HN was a Yoruba man you will not say this
I said what have you done as a region to honour him, while he was alive and after? How is that hollow or stupid? Does charity not begin from home? Since you and the senators think that it is a favour to the South East and not merit to honour Nwosu, the logical question is that what has been done before now to honour Nwosu by the South East? Why making it a political issue? i will say so for any politician and region.
PoliticsRe: June 12: Ten Years Ago Prof Humphrey Nwosu Was Interviewed By Sowore by Image123(m): 8:51am On Mar 28, 2025
Inconclusive means what?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1994/06/24/nigerian-police-arrest-self-declared-president/16379c29-4324-4333-b490-ce0649b41349/

Till tomorrow, the military will tell you that they arrest Abiola because he self-proclaimed that he won the election, a job that the referee Nwosu failed to do. i don't have a problem with honouring Nwosu, at least IBB and even Abacha have some honour. But people should stop twisting history and making this a tribal issue. Nwosu was simply the referee. i don't care if he was Nupe, Efik or Urhobo, he was the referee. He saw the goal, he knew it was a goal, but he said it is inconclusive. Coming 15years later to tell people that it was a goal and that everybody knew is cowardly. He should have said it there and then in the match. If "FIFA FG" afterwards decides that they don't want, we know that the referee was not part of the blame.
And don't tell us that without him, there is no June 12 or Abiola. It's like saying without the referee there's no Messi or Ronaldo, or without Jega and Mahmood, our presidents are irrelevant and they must be put on the same pedestal.

Ohhhh let me ask you if HN was a Yoruba man will you be saying this? You guys are serious bigots walahi.
i have said it tens of times on this forum, I don't do tribe, I don't care about your tribe or my tribe or anyone's tribe. Tribe is not the issue on ground but unfortunately, the South East politicians have made it a serious milking issue because they obviously have their sins cleansed using this. i don't care if he, or you or anyone is given a national honour or has a building named after. My point remains that politicians should not using tribalism to cover up themselves. Making a former electoral chairman honoured should have nothing to do with tribe but merit. National honour is not by quota and should not be.
Why is a senator(s) coming with the he's from South East, honour him vibe? How many people have been honoured nationally this way? It is the executive's role, not something to vote in the national assembly. Why bringing it up in the NA as something from the South East? What have you done as a region to honour him, while he was alive and after? Why do you think that everything has to be about where you come from? Has the region named a school, hospital, road, or even street after him? Even if it is a WhatsApp group.
PoliticsRe: Prof Nwosu Died Without Confessing, He Can’t Be Rewarded – Oshiomhole by Image123(m): 7:47am On Mar 28, 2025
What's the deal there? Let them name the building after him. But the issue is that why now? What happened all the years that he was alive? And why is there always a tribal tint to it? Why do all South East senators need to want him to have a national honour? Is the honour because of whatever he did, or because it is from the South East?

professorPABX:
You are very correct. One thing we should not overlook is the fact that ABARIBE did no wrong with that motion. It is not a good thing for Opeyemi Bamidele to oppose a ranking senator and an experienced Senator on such motion. Senator ABARIBE has been in government since 1999 as Deputy Governor.

There is a Diplomatic way of doing things. ABARIBE was Deputy Governor to Orji Uzor Kalu. He wanted to takeover executive power and governance from Orji Uzor Kalu but Uzor Kalu made him redundant. He cried foul. He came to Lagos to speak to media houses. He went to Television for interview on what is happening in Abia. While giving a breakdown of himself and KALU, we noticed that he cannot serve as Deputy Governor because of his education and exposure and his zeal and
aspirations can only be delivered as a governor. We know he cannot survive being pocketed by Orji Uzor Kalu. That was the event that turned him to a political dissident till date.

He is always on the opposite side of event. He is always a political dissident to the rulership. I think what played out is not bringing out Humphrey Nwosu's name for recognition, there could be more to it for Senator Bamidele to have opposed him.

ABARIBE should not be walking out on Senate leadership to gain popularity of opposition.
Very well. There's nothing wrong with the motion but the timing and procedure. Follow procedure and do politics as a lawmaker and politician. All he's trying to do here is all he's always done. Doing like he's into tribal war.
Nwosu just died late last year, Abaribe has been in the Senate for 18yrs. He never saw the need to honour Nwosu these 18years. Suddenly this week, he gets a bright idea and it must be approved immediately since we're not in a dictatorship. It's all a game he's playing with the nation. He knows he should have previously discussed with Senate leadership. It's a controversial matter because everyone can just stand personal explanation order 10 to ask for their favorites to be honored tomorrow. There's an agenda/programme for the sitting.
