i do not hate Obi or anyone, i simply see him as a mediocre no different from the other politicians. Can we have the Microsoft model you speak of? Let's examine it to see if Anambra is consistently first in it or if it's another one time fluke wonder?

I mentioned facts like donation of computers & generator sets which you should either affirm or negate but you didn't. All these schools you mentioned DMGS, CKC, Igwebuike Grammar School Awka, St. Mary's Ifitedunu, Comprehensive Nnofia, Mater Amabilis etc before the emergence of Obi were shadows of their selves. Obi introduced a system that is obtainable now in Anambra state. These schools are now managed by Churches Catholic & Anglican, but owned by government. He spent money on these schools.
You making reference to WEAC exam as a case study is nonsense. Obi prepared Anambra for future... Don't run away from this question: Mention any governor or president in Nigeria that gave each school in his state 30 computers, one hiace bus, a sound proof generator set, one bore hole... I am not talking of renovation, teacher's welfare including ongoing formation...

Donations to schools are done by every state government every time and every year. It is in each state plan and budget. It is not uncommon for even individuals to donate to schools. Politicians, commissioners, LG chairmen, musicians, sports people do it all the time. It's not a special achievement or critical determiner. i do not need to affirm or negate a state government's donations, it is besides the point.
The point is that the 2014 or was it 2013 WAEC is the main point of Obi supporters to say Obi took education to number 1. If you don't know, what they mean by number 1 is that they had the highest percentage in pass rate for that year. Now, WAEC itself has come out several years to state that they do not give such rankings. What people do is to pick up statistics of students that passed at least 5 subjects, including English and Mathematics in each state for the year. That's all. There's no champion in that. Different states have their different positions every year. Anambra has not been number 1 in that criteria for the past 10 years after. They were not number in that criteria for 7 out of 8 years when Obi was governor. So it clearly had nothing to do with Obi's government donations.
Apart from this, such people ignore the total number of students in question. Anambra state has less than 20,000 students registering for WAEC, compared to states like Oyo or Rivers or Lagos that record over 40,000 to 50,000 students. People ignore the students that actually have the highests schools overall that actually get gifts and recognition. These are generally also students from the South, but not limited to any particular state, it varies. There is NO clear demarcation anywhere showing that Anambra is ahead of other states.
Also, WAEC is not the only basis for academic performance. We have nursery, primary and tertiary institutions asides other indices.
Anambra is not in top 10 of states with highest number of primary schools. It is not in the top 3 when states are judged by several factors including access to education, quality of teaching and learning outcomes.. It is not among the top 10 states that have employed the highest number of primary school teachers.
We can't just be running about for years with a one time, one criteria statistics. One that was followed closely by close down of hundreds of magic centres.

You lied! The Reformation of education in Anambra state has Obi's input. From 1999-2003/4 Anambra became a shadow of itself because of bad governance. Mbadinuju as governor killed Anambra state. People who stood up paid with their lives, Bola Ige and his wife as an example. For all most two years pupils and students sat at home. Ngige tried his best but Obi sanitized Anambra educational system, even this particular honor won by our girls, Obi introduced it and made it part of school curriculum. He donated 30 computers to each school, one hiace bus, one set of sound proof generator and bore hole. Anambra state will always be grateful to him, that no man can take away from him not even propaganda.

Interesting fact is that the so called highest WAEC pass rate you're ready to die on was a one season wonder. Other states have also had the same highest pass rate/percentage. Obi was governor for 8 years, what happened to the remaining 7years? What happened to the years after? What happened to Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education? Are you saying that great schools like CKC Onitsha, FGGC, Nnamdi Azikiwe University or even the private schools like Madonna can't and don't have enough effect to produce good results or the best results? They have to wait for Obi's packaged effect. Dey play
Education / Re: Ben Murray Bruce Video Goes Viral Again by Image123(m): 6:08pm On Apr 26
One WAEC wonder fraught with hundreds of miracle centers. What happened the remaining 7 years, or the years after? Do we have the other states with high pass rate in WAEC attributing it to their governor? Is education pegged to WAEC? Nonsense.

Good evening all. Just had a heated discussion on Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection, and modern evolution theory.

Was Evolution taught in your school?

For me, my teachers would always say 'dont mind those white people. Na dem be monkyy'. I didn't even give it a single thought till I was around 23.

Learning it gave me a better appreciation of the natural world around and its beauty and uglinees and everything in between.

It was taught, and we read the textbooks both from Nigerians and foreigners. There is nothing special about it. The main point about no God still remains pointless, and unrelated to evolution in the sense that there is one. And of course, we did not come from animals, there is NO proof, all faith.

Anambra State; a state where a sitting Governor was kidnapped, and where schools were shut for years, Peter Obi came and changed everything.

Till date, Anambra education is still reaping the rewards of Obi's solid investment in education.

A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.”
— Greek Proverb

WHY WILL ANYBODY BUILD A NEW SCHOOL IN THE EAST. FROM THE YEAR 1987, THE ENTIRE SOUTH EAST ALREADY HAS ENOUGH SCOMMUNITY SCHOOLS. SEE, EAST IS NOT LIKE THE NORTH. IN THE EAST, YOU HAVE COMMUNITIES BUILDING SCHOOLS THROUGH COMMUNITY EFFORTS, SELF HELP PROJECTS. AND THATS WHY THE EAST WAS FIRST IN EDUCATION PRE INDEPENDENCE, BEFORE WE WERE MERGED WITH COWS AND THEIR DUNGS.

You get that? Peter Obi during his time invested heavily in education and doesnt necessarily need to build new schools. And that legacy is still living on. Mad people and propagandists can continue through their ilks like RHYNO OMOKIRIKIRI, A child meant for Kirikiri.

What do you mean by Obi came and changed everything? How many things did they change, please let's speak with facts and not rhetorics. We know that most of the states in Southern Nigeria are well known for academic prowess. It is not something that started with Obi but something that has been before, during Obi and after. Most of the schools are well known schools in Anambra State. They were there before and standard names; Christ the King College(i think even Obi attended the school), FGGC, Bethlehem schools, Onitsha High School and some of the University, like Nnamdi Aziliwe University, Madonna and co. These places that were established and churning out good and great grades and graduates before Obi and during his time and after his time.
They've always had people that have contributed to Nigeria, to anambra and the other nations of the world overtime. BTW, even the developed nations of the world build schools. It takes Vision to build schools so what you're trying to tell us is that for the whole of 8 years that Obi was governor, everything was stagnant. There was no growth. Either they stayed stagnant or they were going down that he couldn't build schools for the future. The population remain the same they didn't need anything. In different parts of the world they are building more but Anambra's case is different. You're either telling us lies or you're being ignorant.
You're just beating around the bush if you say that it is Obi that made them to do well in maybe 2014. So what happened the remaining eight or seven years that he was governor at least they should be some consistency that shows that it is will Obi effect the eight years that ruled, anambra state was first. Or after they continued that way, consistently. But just a one off of 2014 they had the best pass rate in WAEC that's not the standard. Different states in Nigeria and especially in the southern part of Nigeria Southeast Southwest Southsouth have this and nobody attributed to one particular governor. It is a collective effort of both the students, their teachers, schools and then the states itself not one governor. And not even when shortly after recorded Anambra having so many magic centers closed because of malpractice.
Education is not limited to WAEC BTW. Education is among others, inclusive of Nursery, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, gender ratio, population literacy, private, public, etc. I have included some statistics below. It doesn't hype Anambra state anywhere. You can help add contrary facts saying otherwise.

Obi tried for Anambra

i don't know the people that you speak of, but one has to be legally blind or heavily bigoted not to see or know that Nigerians usually from the South excel academically, either nationally or internationally. It's people like you that will have claimed the guy, from Ogun state, that just did the nation proud globally was a product of Obi if he was from Anambra.
Nigerians generally are very talented people, and do well in different fields and from different tribes and states. It's not a new thing, it didn't start with Obi and doesn't end with him. Learn that and change this myopic narrative.

What about these high school fees paying states in Lagos

I thought Yoruba are the most educated yet not even one school there have won anything international

It is a continuous madness and inferiority complex to attribute every single achievement in a state to one mediocre person. Southern Nigeria has shown themselves better in academic prowess for decades. Nobody claims they won their championship or competitions because of a governor except the followers of the repackaged fraud. Anambra and other states in the South have been winning competitions long before Obi was ever a governor and after.

Since when what happens as a norm in other countries become a standard for Nigeria? So because other "developed" nations are now into LGTV/Rainbow Nigeria should fall in line or you brand her backward. Technological advancement simplified use in divers ways. Each one with his/her own preference. I either get a call directly even through WhatsApp or you message in writing. I don't listen to voice note, it's my preference.

That is the major advantage especially where the person is unreasonable on phone.

i respect your preference, respect other's and don't act shocked. Using voice notes has no connection with the issues you raise or compare. You may choose to stop using the internet and revert to using a town crier to deliver messages since you don't want to fall in line(whatever tht means).

Lolz, i was taken aback by the myopic and limited thinking and responses on the other thread. Well, maybe they are of the idea and background that voice note takes more data, or they have network issues downloading voice notes. Voice notes are a norm in developed nations and in standard work environments. Nigerians are still backwardly struggling to terms with the formality, i understand that. They believe you are not serious if you don't make a GSM call or write them on a letter head. cheesy

Unfortunately, people like Makinde have no examples to follow in this regard from the father of Yoruba politics in the State of Excellence he has controlled since 1999.

Is there a law somewhere mandating him to follow the example of a particular father of politics? Your father of politics' example is not our business. Our business is that a political office holder delivers visionary and verifiable governance irrespective of party, religion or region. If you like take example from Heaven or from inside the ocean, just give us progress and peace. Not all these rambling about not having a father or having a father.

Is it about not having a godfather or about delivering good governance? Who cares about your father, but the fact that you serve and let the people enjoy the dividends of voting you in. Be visionary, make good use of the billions you collect every month, improve welfare, give your state a facelift and a future. Fatherless, fatherless, after you leave there now, we'll start hearing that you paid $700,000 of state money for your child's future. Misplaced priorities.
