All the ministers of the Federal Republic are all appointed by the President and ratified by the whole Senate, but are they not abysmal failures? The person i replied claimed he was the least qualified, with not even one formal experience. How can South East governors, the whole house of assembly, and the president all do that? |

Svoboda: Story! Let him return all the monetary benefits he derived from those appearances or pay same to the victims family. Wvo is fooling who? https://x.com/i/status/2065075773493399958Publicity Helps Terrorists. It Does Not Pressure Them. They Treasure it!
It is a very big mistake to think that publicity, or global outrage, pressures terrorists. Quite the contrary. They relish it! They thrive on it. The late British Prime Minister, Baroness Thatcher, put it best when she said, "Publicity is the oxygen of terrorism."
Davido means well, but doing what he did, which I will not elaborate on, because my readers know what I am referring to, actually helps the terrorists who took those children more than it aids the rescue of the kids and their teachers.
Terrorists want publicity. That is how they spread terror. If you do not know about their terrifying acts, they can't have the power of terror over you.
Publicity, however well-intended, always works in the favour of terrorists by increasing their ability to incite fear in the public and pressure governments to give in to their demands by outraging the global community, who then put pressure, not on the evil terrorists, but on civil governments.
I was a Presidential spokesman under President Jonathan, and the rescue efforts for the #ChibokGirls were hampered the day Michelle Obama held up the #BringBackOurGirls banner, making it a cause célèbre.
From that point on, the girls became so high profile that it was more profitable, from a terror standpoint, for Boko Haram to hold on to them at whatever costs.
If #BringBackOurGirls had not been made such a global phenomenon, their abductors would not have increased security around the girls and separated them, making it more difficult for security forces to rescue them.
It is not as though the Nigerian government is resting on its oars in the present case. Every effort is being made to secure the release of the children and their teachers abducted from the Ahoro-Esinle and Yawota communities.
We recently saw the stuff our security forces are made up of when they rescued the sister of the immediate past power minister, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, and her children.
What this situation requires is not publicity, especially on a global stage. That is what the terrorists want. And a critical mass of Nigerians are very emotional people and may not understand the dynamics at play here. As such, they may start insulting and attacking me for saying this without pausing to understand the situation.
For four years, I travelled around the world, meeting world leaders in my effort to secure Leah Sharibu's release. I did not collect a dime from anybody and funded this effort myself.
I even released a charity single that I composed and produced with the late Onyeka Onwenu, and went to Nepal to attempt an Everest Climb.
However, after meeting two serving British Prime Ministers, and Canadian and Spanish Prime Ministers, an Icelandic Minister, as well as several Caribbean leaders, I was informed by top level security officials that my activities were actually making Leah Sharibu's release less likely, because by raising her profile, I was making her too valuable as a hostage to her captors, who would rather use the global publicity I was getting for her to raise funds, recruit more terrorists and project themselves.
And when my attention was directed to the UNESCO Handbook for Journalists on Terrorism Coverage, I was mortified with what I read. That piece of literature is very clear on how terrorism thrives the more journalists, celebrities, and politicians publicise acts of terror. In fact, the more you do, the more likely you will have reoccurrences.
That is why I stopped the publicity aspect of the #FreeLeahSharibu campaign.
Look at it this way. If you are a terrorist and are seeking publicity for your cause, to create a larger-than-life image and incite fear in the public, why would you release the very hostages who are responsible for the publicity you are getting?
I wish Nigerians could look at this in a sentient manner instead of being emotional over an issue that we can only resolve if we are rational! |

Svoboda: Reno isn't far from hypocrisy. When he went around wearing Free Leah Sharibu T-shirt all over the world and using her family's plight to gain some validation, what was he doing?
In this case, what has Davido done that Reno didn't do, or is it just because it's not politically convenient for him? He's earlier said that was a mistake that he was corrected for, and he stopped since. |

What a crass way to address issues. i like Reno's reasonable answer. Dear Mr. David Adeleke AKA @Davido,
Thank you for your feedback. I was rather surprised by your response to my post, setting the record straight on Peter Obi's false allegations against His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, regarding the repatriation of Nigerian prisoners from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Most shocking is your insult.
You are an international celebrity whom Nigeria is proud of. Coming to insult me on my Instagram profile with such vulgar words should be beneath you.
Yes, I am aware that you were upset at my appeal to you not to use an international platform, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to give publicity to bandits and terrorists. I am also aware that Peter Obi praised you for doing that, which may have made you feel compelled to defend him.
I did that because while your intention may be good and you think you are pressuring the government, the actual effect of what you did is to give publicity to the terrorists and help them spread fear, recruit new members, and raise funds.
How can you, a Nigerian citizen, with a global platform, go on a global stage to give publicity to terrorists and de-market Nigeria, meanwhile, at that same event, and on that same day, IShowSpeed, an American citizen, used his celebrity and the global stage of the World Cup to market Nigeria by wearing a Nigerian jersey and speaking well of the same country you de-marketed.
Many of us do not know what we have got.
Let me give you an example: As an American citizen, you may be aware of the October 7, 2023, abduction of 254 people by terrorists in Israel, of whom the majority were women and children, including American, British, and Canadian citizens.
There are many celebrities bigger than you in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Since October 7, 2023, these celebrities have performed on many global platforms, including the World Series, the Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, and the UEFA Champions League.
Yet, none of them used such platforms to say ANYTHING about the October 7 abduction because they know that publicity helps terrorists and hurts hostages.
We saw that in Nigeria. The #ChibokGirls were abducted on April 14, 2014. The then Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, revealed that the military had located the girls and were ready to rescue them.
However, after Michelle Obama held up the #BringBackOurGirls banner in May of 2014, the publicity resulted in Boko Haram separating the girls into different groups and keeping them in various camps, while increasing security around them, which made it literally impossible to rescue them.
Thereafter, Boko Haram's recruitment was boosted, and their finances exploded, and six months later, ISIS announced that they had merged with Boko Haram to form ISWAP.
That is what I was trying to explain to you. Just like Margaret Thatcher said, "publicity is the oxygen of terrorism."
It is also why the UNESCO Handbook for Journalists on Terrorism Coverage urges public figures not to grant terrorists any publicity.
I hope you now understand my point of view. Thanks again, and may God bless you.

There should be a better way of doing things than this bulldoze thing. They'll still arrest terrorists, use state money to try them in court, rehabilitate them, and integrate them back among human beings. It doesn't make good sense. |

Nwaikpe: Whoever saw this boy and took him to lead this commission had a very wicked heart towards the people the commission was meant to serve.
Have you noticed a trend? Whenever they claim they want to "give the youths a chance," they usually go for the least qualified, but make sure the person has one or two degrees from outside the country, and they sell the certificate as the qualification above all others.
With not even one formal experience, apart from being a boy-boy to politicians, just because he has an overseas degree, he was made to head a commission that could determine the pace of a whole region in respect to development. But he was nominated by South east governors like Soludo. Mark Okoye was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency in September, 2022. Prior to his appointment, he also served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State and later, he served the previous Anambra state government as the commissioner for economic planning and budget and development partners. |

Well, let's see how it goes. Give a benefit of doubt. As a matter of fact, he's disappointed. But because of our kind of politicians, and the fact that we don't even know what the other development commissions are doing, maybe worse. Let's see what explanation he comes up with in 2 weeks like he asked.
Bro, you were appointed since December 2024 and immediately confirmed by the Senate in January 2025. Your board was inaugurated about a month later. Out of about 140billion, you have received over 15billion. You've been given prior approval to employ 250 full-time staff. What more is your excuse compared to what you have done. In this video, you admitted you've not employed one single staff, but you have a huge head office been constructed in Enugu and you're spending 153million on rent in Abuja. Make it make good sense next week please. It looks very shoddy. |
