You will also pay bills abroad even if you are not using it, yes going through schooling is a good idea but its pointless paying millions to foreign universities only to end up doing online studying, that is a premium long distance studying and at the end you get the same certificate with someone in Nigeria.

Like someone mentioned here before..you need to think about the possibility of you getting a job before and after graduation, the reality is that within a year you have spent close to £/$ 25K to £/$30K or even more and at the end you get nothing but shinny qualification.

Many countries will allow you to remain and work for 2yrs but if you can't get a job then you just wasted your money and time.

Not many Nigerians leave the country with the intention to engage in crime when they get here but situation like this forced many into crime and finally prison.

Light, internet and good road you think that matters will not be remembered when reality set-in within months.

I'm basically saying..prepare before leaving and know the right time to leave else you will regret it. Now is the wrong time to leave.

You have spoken really well, but how would we know we won't get a job if we don't try?

For me I am pursuing a very well sort after course in the field of Engineering, which has really high prospect and demand and is in the list of critical skill set of most established foreign countries, hence earning a foreign degree would give me more opportunities even to migrate to other countries for jobs or Permanent Residency..... And I believe this also goes for many others here also, the main idea is moving out and creating opportunities, provided the person can afford the choice.... There is a saying in Igbo, "" They don't stay one place to watch a Masquerade"" which goes ahead to mean one must move around, good covid 19 is here and ravaging but life still continues, and dreams are still met, what if corona decides to stay for the next 30years before a vaccine is found, HIV has lived for God's knows how long and no vaccine yet in sight, what if covid 19 takes same route, would u advice someone to wait in Nigeria with his money till whenever everything gets back to normal?

Obviously things would never be normal ever again in the world even if a vaccine is gound, so why should one wait in a country you can't even have slightest idea of what to expect the next day? hence I feel the earlier persons adapt and adjust to the current situation the better for anyone, time would obviously not wait for anyone.....

If persons that their stuffs where burnt of burgled where told something dat started as a peaceful protest would result into that would they have believed, those are people's life investment gone down within seconds at most hours and no rescue in sight.

In the outside world is that how peaceful protest results into?

Sir I do not think any amount is too much to pay just to have a feel of heaven on earth ( foreign land).

For me there is no better time to stay in Nigeria, or best time not to stay, I would keep on trying till I am out....

Ounce again I appreciate you for finding time to deliberate constructively with us here, obviously persons are having their decisions shappened even more

Bro this is the wrong time to travel abroad for with the hope of living and working and hopefully become a citizen.

Honestly if you have ££££/$$$ resting in your account in Nigeria right now then hold that money jealously and watch how the whole pandemic turns out.

Only if you are coming with job in hand that you will walk into the moment you arrival else whatever you are going through now in Nigeria will never be compared to the level disappointment you will feel when you get here or other EU countries.

Let me make this clear..I'm not discouraging people from traveling to anywhere, i'm basically saying that people should travel at the right time with the right paper

Bro I understand your view and advice but trust me not so easy to hold money down in Niger, bills will surely set in, in my own opinion I still feel going out via school right now is still very much reasonable inspite of the covid 19, at least you would have full access to light and internet which are basic tools to succeed in an online study, which is lacking in Niger, also you are not faced with difference in time zone, some of my friends studying online from Nigeria sometimes miss their lecture due to sleep. Dats already them tending to failure inspite of them paying heavy funds as tuition fees. So there seems to be an advantage at least via school the covid 19 won't keep people on the spot, i see it as just a way of being pro-active and moving with the global world

This is specifically for those persons who wish to wait till next year before dey decide to migrate

Over the last 5days the most searched question on google is

How do I leave Nigeria to another country?

If by now you are not yet Determined to Move, then honestly you deserve a golden seat in your village square close to where the well filled with Dollars is built..... and if they don't give you the seat then it means you and I must MOVE

This single mindedness is destructive

Thank you for your response. I appreciate
My fear and reason for asking is that someone told me that public health job isn't easy to get in UK.

It depends on your packaging and understanding of what and how you can sell yourself.... Actually no field is indispensable.... Public health can be related to the home care pilot programme ran by Canada, where immigrants take care of old, there are facilities in the UK also meant for aged persons and public health also falls into line with that.... Health, i.t and Engineering courses are the most sought after

- what is the fate for someone that has Bsc Agric Economics Extension and Rural Development going for MSc in any branch of Agriculture in uk?

- Is there employment in uk for such graduate?

- is MSc in any branch of Agriculture better than MSc in public health in uk in terms of employability?

- the plan is for migration possibly

- which branch of Agriculture is lucrative to study for MSc?

Please anyone with answers should please help

EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING THAT HAS HEALTH ATTACHED TO IT SELLS BIG TIME FOR UK, IN REGARDS TO EMPLOYABILITY. i hope i have summarised the answer to your question

For a PhD program, which country can one possibly get a scholarship?

Most countries have total funding for PHD students, you just need to do small research, you can check AUSTRIA

My brother check am well oooo.... So you don't spend your funds in the wrong direction, instead use the money and go and write ielts or pte exams first, have d certificate handy then within its two years validity plan on what to do.

Not to discourage you but that's just what I think

All these una grammar they give me headache.. 2-3yrs ago, if anyone would have told me I will consider traveling out of the country, we go fight tire but right now, if I can see anything that will land me in any good country, I won't mind..
I have tried student route for Canada, tried b.Eng and it looks meek..
So I am trying the undergraduate route...

But this is something that came to my mind I think last week.
What if I use music as a means to japa?
I know how good in music I am.. Like do 3 tracks and 2 videos.. Promote it on major dstv music stations...
Can it guarantee me ease of entering into countries like Canada or any European country of my choice??
Like LaycOn bbn said, he only came to promote his music and fortune smiled on him..
Seems it is easy for entertainers to get into these countries..
Just from my own point of view..

Informanta

Ps.. Doing music is not really as hard as before believe me, all you need is get a good song and a good producer..
I have a very good producer right now, well the aim is to see if it can give me leverage over school route and express entry

Let me ask you some serious questions

1. If you do music, what visa would you apply for? Cos I know there is no visa category stating music visa.

2. How much will it cost you to do album and promote so heavily for it to be show cased on MTV and co

3. For you to have gathered such a fan base do you think leaving Nigeria would still be in ur list or for you to grow d fan base more

Lastly Artiste don't travel based on personal recognition only government officials do with their diplomatic passport,

Artiste travel via tourism visa application and anyone can as long as you have made such heavy type of funds.

So please try to face reality and let's get it done the right way any attempt to over cut corners can land you visa ban.

Except if you know other things which are not publicly known .

GOOD DAY FAMILY

LETS TALK UK

So today i decided to pop into the UK thread and made this post

GOOD DAY all great minds here....

As a way of introduction, my name is INFORMANTA and also the thread creator of the thread DETERMINED IMMIGRANT WE MOVE
https://www.nairaland.com/6174870/determined-immigrant-we-move
I currently represent over 4000 persons who have one way or the other subscribed or viewed my thread, hence any response given to me by anyone here would be well appreciated by over 4000 Nigerian Determined persons who are currently at a cross road seeking, better living conditions for their families.... i would so much appreciate to read responses from the most expert persons or persons with the most recent experiences here.

Now my questions.

1. Are there available student jobs in the UK that can guarantee a student the ability to pay his remaining tuition fees while he studies? if yes please provide example of such type of jobs

2. How many years visa is stamped for students currently and is there any feasibilty of students remaining in the UK upon finishing studies in other to huzzle and possibly seek permanent residency?

3. Has the 2years PGWP been implemented?

4. Considering the high rate of tax in the UK what really is the average living condition of Nigerians in the UK?

5. Are there guaranteed scholarships available in the UK for indegent students who possibly cannot raise the tuition fees and whooping statement of account.

6. what schools in the UK has the cheapest and most flexible fees payment structure.

Thank you very much even as i anticipate reasonable responses.

WE MOVE !!!

and this was the reply i was able to get from mimilyrics

1. No, theres no guarantee that you'll get a student job that pays enough to offset your full tuition fees. You have to factor in your living costs (food, rent, bills, transportation, etc.) and you can't work beyond 20 hours weekly except in some NHS jobs. You might be lucky to get a job which pays enough to offset your fees but it's not guaranteed. You also have to bear in mind, the deadlines for your tuition fee payment plan as this may not tally with your savings or wage payment schedule.

2. It's currently the duration of your course plus 4-6 months. You can switch to other visas in the UK as long as you're eligible. Tier 2 visas qualify you for ILR in 5 years but you need to be sponsored for this in an appropriate job category by a qualified T2 sponsor. Tier 1 visas are another option but this might be resource (money, skills etc.) intensive.

3. Yes. Students who successfully complete their degrees from next summer are eligible.

4. Average is relative. Note that as a student who earns minimum wage and below the personal income limit, you'll be paying little or almost nothing for tax.

5. There are no guaranteed scholarships apart from some international student discounts.
Getting a scholarship is linked to how well you sell yourself in your scholarship application.

6. Cheapest is relative and will be dependent on your budget and course of study as some courses are naturally expensive ie. MBA.
Many Nairalanders have mentioned University of Chester as being relatively affordable so you can check it out. On the average, you should expect to spend about £13-15,000 for each year of your course.

Would like to correct the OP impression about 2.2 getting masters admission in the UK. Even with third class and HND you can get direct admission for masters. It depends and the school so a little research would help Sheffield hallam and Chester university are examples of school that give HND admission for masters. The thing about the UK is that its application is pretty straight forward so you dont have to go through an agent and school admission is free. I have 2.2 and I was able to get £4000 scholarship from my intended school (Leeds Beckett University). Below are a few school with low tution.

Queen Margaret University
Edge Hill University
York St John University
University of Bedfordshire
Teeside university(allows you pay tuition over 2 years)

Admission are usually in Jan and September like op stated earlier but September gets more discount/scholarship's

Different schools with different payment plans, while most schools will allow installment even up to before your final exams others will require payment before or shortly after resumption.

If you have funds saved up (or you are still saving) the UK would be a good bet. Especially with the post graduate work permit kicking off from summer next year. So one gets 2 year work permit after graduation. And if within that period you get a job that is able to sponsor you, you convert to tier 2 work permit and are eligible for indefinite leave to remain(ILR) which is like PR within 5 years. The splendid thing about UK student visa at the moment is that you have 90% success rate. At least if you don't bungle it up yourself.(its easy peazy compared to Canada and US study routes) with extremely low denial rates.

As a student you work 20hrs a week, if you are married you can apply with your spouse and kids(if that applies) for dependant visa. And your spouse is allowed to work full time. If your spouse is an experienced professional and is able to get a good tier 2 sponsor then your path to ILR is shorter.

There is a wealth of information in the below thread. Look it up if UK is under your radar
https://www.nairaland.com/5816163/uk-student-visa-tier-4/2

bro thanks so much for dropping bye here, this was really a great input from you..... sincere gratitude........

PLEASE kindly explain further the process you took in securing the scholarship.

Hello

Is there no country one can travel to with ZERO naira
I am a year 2 student in the university,I will change career which means I will do a PgD after graduating before proceeding for masters abroad.
Now,I don't think I can wait that long to leave this country.I feel like starting uni again abroad but I gat no funds even If I get Scholarship.
Any advice??

PS:I am really really young.I have Germany in mind.

personal research would answer best, but from what i know you need money at least for your flight ticket, even guys that got PTDF scholarship have to pay for some neccessities which they would be re-inbursed later. there are countries where you dont pay for school fess like germany and norway, but you still have to have money to feed your self and live comfortable hence they ask you for proof of funds.

Please guys, I have given myself one year to leave this country and move as an immigrant or go through the study route. Problem is, I haven’t seen a scholarship that includes my grades. I got a 2:2 out of the university.
I’m looking at Australia, New Zealand and Canada as my options

Where do I start from

My brother I like your tenacity and zeal even though nothing is impossible to happen but inspite of that I strongly feel one should aim high but not aim into space

Honestly there are about 2 limiting factors facing you which only personal research from you would be able to tackle.

1. You obviously sound to me as one who is more intelligent than the grade your institution felt you fall in but that's the label already and other institutions would first consider the label before they consider the real stuffs in you, a friend dat made a 2.2 even with his millions he had to do a pre-remedial course first in Nigeria before he was admitted for a MSC in UK. In d pre remedial course he came out the best. Your direct 2.2 would be difficult to land you a direct admission into a foreign master's programme not to now talk of a scholarship, even 2.1 guys self hardly get scholarship dats d sincere truth

2. Your choice of country value the money you wish to bring to their country in form of school fees than even your success at school, Australia, New Zealand , Canada fees rank as the costliest for international students, so how possible would it be for them to have high school fees and want to specially consider to wave their test for your money and let you study for free in their country? You must have something very very valuable for such countries to consider you.

Lastly this is my own tots based on what I know so far, Pls don't let it deter you, I just sincerely told you the reality of what I think I know, don't base on it, do more research and if you find a headway pls don't forget to share here, we are here for each other

Let's talk New Zealand

Yeah........ Good day wonderful people and I hope we are safe

Yesterday there was a discussion on New Zealand here and as a determined person that I am I quickly put it as my task for today.....

New Zealand is as far as Australia no doubt infact they are very close to each other and share so much in common.....

Talking about being far, I really desire to be very far from everything called Nigeria the farther you are from your problem and bad governance the more prosperous one would be..... I guess that's why Australia the farthest from Nigeria is ranked the wealthiest and heaven on earth.... So for those dat want to be close to Nigeria abeg no take my statement personal..... All man with his wish

New-zealand Study route

New Zealand offers free application fees.... I.e you don't pay for application fees and the process looks swift and easy but the school fees carry weight, hence any body that is not financially bouyant should be ready to apply for scholarships which are also currently available for international students.....

Best of luck guys

Let's talk DENMARK

I took out yesterday to try my research on denmark, it actually is a beautiful country with so much money but from investigation very very hard to enter, as their immigration policies looks so so tight.

First I have a friend that migrated there sometes last year or last two years but his brother who runs a coffee shop there had to send him appointment letter before he could file for visa application which still took about 10months or more before he was granted Visa. According to him they have quota for employment of each firm there, they run a 4:1 system. In every 5 employment you must employ 4 of their citizens first before employing an international citizen and they have number of times such a person can employ, hence to get an appointment letter from there is very very tudious for international citizens

Researching via studies route got me more angry about the country, all the universities I checked on do not consider BSC certificates from other institutions or countries, hence even as a person not from their country you must have had your BSC in one of their schools before you can apply for a master's there..... I got really pissed and I had to strike them out of my list as it looks like no way in sight.....

I would appreciate if anyone has a different opinion which is verifiable about Denmark should post in here.

Thanks

Do you even know her personally to confirm if she is not married?

I feel I should try to elucidate some things with my little knowledge on migration:

- Individuals should understand that at the end of the day, your finances (aka money) is more important than the destination. You can have all the dreams (anyone can dream) but to actualise those dreams, you need the money. Mere sending documents via courier costs a lot and you might be required to send more than once. Another expense is English proficiency tests, I keep reading folks who ask about the possibility of getting admission without writing these tests (GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL etc) but you need to understand schools who would waive these tests (majority do now because of Covid-19) are low ranking, won't offer scholarships and will be expensive. The last thing I can advise a black African to do is to attend a low ranking institution abroad, don't compare yourself to blacks there who are citizens. Is it bank balance statement? Flight tickets? Living expenses? School fees? Quarantine period expenses? Tests' costs? So, everything boils to money. Start saving rigorously but do so in dollars (I got to know this hack from Kemi Onabanjo - associate partner @McKinsey&Co who went to INSEAD, France - who saved the bulk of her school fees in dollars before devaluation occured five years ago as a result of decline in crude oil prices) not naira, and save under your pillow. Emefiele aka Meffy has been very funny. .

- Study the countries' route to citizenship (the outright goal for many here, I believe). The longer it takes, the more discouraging. A country like Switzerland should not be on your radar but Austria should. Policies can change but you should be strategic and think long term. However, in some cases, you can aim to study in a Country A and use the degree to work in Country B whose route to citizenship is easier. Does not sound easy but hey, nothing good comes easy. For instance, we know schooling in Canada is expensive (the person I know who finished there has uncles working in ExxonMobil & Shell) and the requirements from the embassy is one of a kind. Mind you, 8 out of 10 students are denied student visas (https://qz.com/africa/1708714/canada-rejects-most-african-student-visa-applicants/). But if your aim is to work/live in Canada, you could do that by aiming to get a graduate program that is fully funded in the US, preferably a top university. Finish from there and apply for jobs in Canada. Why the US for graduate studies? The US is the number one country in funding grad students, a place where the higher education system is well developed and has disproportionately the highest number of top universities globally according to the top three higher education ranking agencies (ARWU, QS & THEducation). Canada does not fund grad students as much as the US esp in MSc courses. Like I said, target top universities. A degree from Cornell University would not be downgraded irrespective of the colour of your skin or nationality (quotas might exist). But remember, to get a funded position in most US universities, you need to write the GRE, GMAT &/or TOEFL, so get ready.

- Conduct your research on everything from schools, type of degrees, cities, currencies, languages etc. You are the one who wants to japa not the person reading it and even if, don't expect random strangers to do everything for you. If you ask how do I apply to grad programs in this country and you are given responses. Do not ask: how do I contact professors, that is your responsibility. Dem don give you mattress, you dey ask for pillow? Whether work visas, skilled migration route or employment opportunities, conduct your research. That is why Google.com exists.

- There are some relatively unknown/unpopular countries with easier migration routes, target those places. As a Nigerian, you should know by now that the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia are very popular and highly competitive. But what about Mexico, Brazil or even South Korea? They can be stepping stones to your favourite which even if you do not attain citizenship in your favourite, you can do so in those countries as they have stronger passports than Nigeria.

- Know your limitations and be strategic. You are a bloody Nigerian, your educational background is not well regarded in the abroad. You did not work in top MNCs whose brand name you can leverage on or do not possess skills/qualifications that are demanded globally yet you expect work visas just like that?

- Passionately learn the language of the country if her lingua franca is not English. Don't expect employment opportunities in Germany to be offered on a platter of gold yet you are not interested in learning German even though job ads of almost a million are advertised daily or same in Brazil yet to learn Portuguese na wahala for you. Don't be surprised or angry that Seoul University requested you submit IELTS score even though the official language of Korea is not English. Newsflash!!! Nigeria is not regarded as a native English speaking country, only South Africa has that title in Africa. Even if you are offered the possibility of gaining admission without it, write it 'cos it can make the difference in scholarship opportunities.

- Stay away from Woke people! They might share the same skin colour but their experiences differ from yours. When listening/reading tales from people in the abroad who warn you from relocating, ask questions. Try to know their migration route and citizenship/economic status. Someone who left via tourist visa and another who went for MBA at Haas School of Business would have different experiences, learn the mistakes the former made and strategies the latter did. Anyone who discourages you from relocating when s/he has not relocated to Nigeria is hypocritically wicked and does not wish you well (and if you check those who relocated, they are already citizens of developed countries). Flee from such people.

Best wishes!

Next on my list is Republic of Ireland.

Note there are two Ireland one in the UK and one as a sovereign state of its own.... Am talking about the one on its own not under the UK.... Dublin IRELAND

They have two sessions one in January and in September

Currently admission is on, most schools charge about £50 as application fee, while some other schools don't charge for application fee, some schools also don't accept direct application from students hence they direct applicants to their designated school agents who in turn make the application for you and assist you to secure your admission and visa application procedures.

Note the school pays the agents hence you don't pay the agent any money to secure the admission or assist with visa application, I strongly think maybe there is a part of your fees that the agent is paid after you successfully pay for your fees.

Visa processing for Ireland requires a lot of work but from what frends in Ireland are saying it looks very very promising as they are all looking very soft also unlike my Germany frends.... Pls dat was just a joke don't take it too serious... Anywhere outside of Nigeria is soft trust me.

For Ireland ensure you target to do your master's in fields categorised as critical skill set and you won't regret it after.

Ireland is not free, you pay fees from £7000 upto £22000 depending on your course of study and you also have to provide proof of funds upto about £12000 as your account statement or sponsor statement, every lump sum has to be careful explained also... And some other documentation.... You can visit Irish thread for more info....

Next I would post on is NORWAY

Currently Norway admission applications for autumn is on and it would close for international students by DEC 1

1. Norway is tuition free

2. Most schools in Norway are application free

3. Documents needed for Application for admission
1. Birth Certificate
2. Statement of purpose
3. Data page of international passport
4. Academic Transcript and Bachelor degree Certificate
5. Letter of sponsorship, which must be a very close relative
6. Sponsor or personal Bank account details showing a balance of at least 5.5m as proove of fund for living expenses

4. Ounce admission is granted then you would need to either Use EduBond or set up block account.... With prayers visa is also gauranteed, provided you select a course that could be used after studies you are more confident of a better life during and after studies.

5. They say there are jobs there at least to survive more than the UK

Honestly am really very happy that persons are seeing great reasons to post in here and share their experiences.... It's really encouraging

To me I take this thread as my own way to end stagnancy in Nigeria....

Like I said earlier I have an experience which I would share relating to my US and Canada visa pursuit but for now we Move* first

New updates from my research so far

United Kingdom

Getting visa into United Kingdom ryt now is just like getting pure water on d road.... Provided you have the required funds for the process but note at the end you must still pay the money. Let me give the story lines starting first with the

UK

1. Apply for admission which you would end up getting even with a 2.2. though for 2.2 candidate you may do a pre-course here in Nigeria just to fulfil all righteousness, ounce you are admitted you would be lured to pay some deposit just to get you the CAS no usually school fees is upto £14000 you may be asked to pay like 4000 or 3000 £ for you to be issued the CAS for you to use and apply for visa

2. Applying for visa you MUST provide a statement of account having a balance of upto 10-12m which would remain untouched for at least 28days prior to your applying for visa, ounce this condition is met your visa is gauranteed provided you don't have tuberculosis as this is d only medical examination done for UK student applicants

3. Upon getting to the UK you would be required to pay the balance of your full tuition fee before you would be allowed to start school

4. I may not be able to confirm fully this number (4) but from persons I have spoken to there, getting a job in UK is currently hard for students, hence it may be dificult for you to cope unless if you really have the money.

5. For now UK have not implemented the 2years PGWP after studies hopefully they would next year but at the moment status quo remains same dat ounce you are done with school you must return back to Nigeria.

Please those in the UK are free to share their tots on the above pls.... Only verified information is needed, it would go along way in helping someone make a defined decision

Hello everyone,

If you are willing to travel to Austria for student visa, read the following guidelines carefully. I am writing from experience and i promised to make it easy for anyone coming after me.

1.Findin schools and getting admission

a. Use google to check for schools and courses.
Check the admission requirements of ur course.
There are so many english taught courses

b.. Email the course cordinator of the course with ur documents and ask him/her ur chances of getting admission. Do not waste money on DHL if you are not sure of admission.

C. Apply officialy when u get a postive answer from the cordinator. Some schools require u legalise ur docs. because of covid19. Some wave it and ask u to send the originals to them. (Be very sure they will email ur school to verify if ur cert. And transcript are legit.)

D. If u finally get the admission letter, congratulatuons the journey have just entered stage 2.

2. Verification and legalisation of documents.

a. Assemble ur documents for verification and leaglisation. Weda u hv admission or not, u need this stage becos all documents for student permit or residence permit has to be legalised.
Documete needed are:

i. birth certificate. (If you are born after 1992 ur birth certificate fro hospotal will serve. If u arenborn before 1992. U need NPC birth certificate attached with age declaration and attestation from fedral high court.) VERY IMPORTANT--- the person standing for you must declare his or her own age and date of birth, and must be 5 years older than you. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT dont miss it.

ii certificate of origin from local government

iii school documents. (First school cert. Waec. Transcript, Bsc/BA. etc.). This depends on what the school needs.

b. Authentication of documents by Nigerian ministries. (Ministry of education and foreign afdairs)

i Ministry of education.
Register on https://ess.education.gov.ng/
Upload ur documents and get an appointment after u pay 250 per document upload. Go to Abuja with the documents u uploaded and hv them stamped and signed on (thats the authentication from MOE) go with ur payemt slip(printed out) because u will require a reciept.
To be continued

Pls continue.... Following
