EFCC releases Obi Cubana after three nights in custody


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally released businessman Obi Cubana.


He was arrested and taken to the headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja, on Monday, November 1, following allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.


He was, however, released on Thursday evening, November 4, after he had spent three days in detention undergoing interrogations.


According to the spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the release to reporters on Thursday night, Cubana was allowed to go after the crack detectives of the commission completed their questioning.

Femi Osibona, owner of Fourscore Homes, the developing company in charge of the building that collapsed in Lagos, is confirmed dead.

His friend Dele Momodu shared the sad news days after it was revealed he was trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building.

Dele also changed his Instagram profile photo to a burning candle to mourn the dead.

A 26-year-old lady, Onyinye Enekwe, is among those who lost their lives, in the 21-storey building that collapsed on Monday, November 1, in Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
The deceased, whose wedding is slated for next month, was employed to work as a personal assistant, just few days before the unfortunate incident occurred.


According to a source, “Oyin is one of the people that was trapped in the collapsed building. Her corpse was found this morning, November 3.


She was employed to work as a personal assistant for the developer, Femi Osibona, and she resumed work on Friday, October 29, 2021, she has not collected any salary from this employment. She lived at Ago palace way, Okoya, they offered her accommodation in Ikoyi because of the distance and also, a monthly salary of N150k.

A former manager with Sterling Bank and Account Relationship Officer of OHHA Microfinance Bank, Mr Oliver Anidiobi, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment, for forgery and stealing to the tune of N219million.


He was sentenced on Tuesday, November 2, by Justice C. O. Ajah of the Enugu State High Court in Enugu, after a 32-count charge prosecution.


According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Enugu Zonal Command, the defendant, arraigned on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, used his position to convince the Microfinance Bank to deposit the said sum through him.


He put the money in a fixed deposit account and forged a deposit certificate to deceive the microfinance bank, while he diverted the funds for personal use.

Popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged money laundering.


It is reported that the Anambra-born club owner, who arrived the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja, at about noon on Monday, is currently being interrogated by operatives of the commission.


It is alleged that his case borders on alleged money laundering and tax fraud. The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said he was yet to be briefed on the development.

he police in Ghana has arrested singer Shatta Wale, over his alleged gunshot attack.

The singer’s PA had in a viral report on Monday, October 18, 2021, claimed he was attacked and shot by unknown assailants, a report the police later said was a hoax.


The Service, in a statement on Tuesday, October 19, said the singer turned himself in after they declared him wanted, for his “involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.”


According to the police, They said “After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday October 19, 2021, at 8.59pm.



He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.”
