Programming › Re: How Long Did It Take You Guys To Become Strong Java Programmers by Intelligentdude(m): 2:33pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
Fulaman198: Java is not a language that you can just learn in a month sadly. It's one of the more difficult languages and thanks to the fact that various APIs exist, otherwise it would even be more difficult to learn. It takes time, from what I have seen, if you programme in Java for a year, you should be decent at it, but by no means an expert. So I understand exactly what you mean by that my brother. It's definitely not an easy process.
I think you will do fine, I'll keep at it too myself. My goal is to pass the OCA and OCP Java Oracle exams sometime this year (aiming for November). Java is so important because it is what it is used to create Android apps. I would also like to use it to build my own smart house eventually lol. Tres bien |

Why do I have this feeling that it's Cobranet Company in Lekki rationalmind: ACTING OUT PASSION WORKS
To start with, I'll have to say the ajasa4link method works. And I have to say a big thank you to him. I read his thread and how he landed his job then decided to try out the same thing.
I got a list of telecoms firms in lagos, got their contact line and sent a text message to about 20 of them. I told them I was a fresh graduate, passionate about a career in the telecoms industry and bla bla bla.
Luckily for me, an in house recruitment was being conducted in one of the companies and my text was replied. I was invited for a test. I would have loved to mention the name of the company but I can't as I'll be resigning in a few days and can't risk letting them know before collecting my December salary .
Shortly after the test, I was told to wait to be interviewed. I wasn't prepared as I was invited for a test and not an interview.
I went in and during the interview, I was asked the name of their CEO. How would I have known? . Told them point blank I didn't know. I wasn't performing so well but was waiting for an opportunity to unleash my weapon. The passion weapon.
Then the question came. Rationalmind, we take trainees for 6 months and pay them... thousand during the six months but most people leave before the end of 6 months when we haven't recouped our investment. They move to banks where they are offered better pay. How are we sure you won't leave?
I started, Sir, that's what happens when people look for jobs they aren't passionate about. To them, it's all about money. To me, it's about my undying love for telecoms. Matter of fact sir, I wrote three courses in telecoms as an undergraduate and had two A's and one B. My love for telecoms dates back to my undergraduate days and money will never make me leave for a bank job.
I saw them smiling. At that point, they obviously had forgotten I didn't know the name of their CEO and sent me a success mail few days later.
Like I said earlier, I know no interview weapon greater than showing than you're passionate about the job. It works. |

Congrats to all the Corp Members posted to Abuja.Whether you got your posting by hook or crook way,the most important thing is that you are now gonna serve in Abuja.I was a 2013 Batch C Corp Member, presently staying and working in Abuja.I will like to give you guys some tips 1)Make as Many friends as you can while in Camp, you never know which of them will link you to a Job after NYSC 2)It is advisable to work in Companies and Organizations(especially for those who read professional courses),this will add to your experience(in ur cv) and will be a selling point after NYSC 3)Make sure you acquire relevant skills in the course of your youth service, trust me alot of you will need it after NYSC(Learn Website Development,Software Programming,Graphics Design,How to make Deodorants, handbag, how to bake cake, meatpie etc) 4)Don't get carried away with flexing, try as much as possible to save(even if it is 3k from your allawee)every Month, trust me this savings will come in handy after NYSC 5)Get really close to God during this period cos this is a very important period in your life To the Guys:Be Careful of most of the female koppas cos they will eat you dry while saving their own money(Mammy Market will testify to that) Don't form boss for the Army Commandant or the Korofos oooo(doing that will be at ur own peril, talking from personal experience) To the Girls:Be careful of Fayrouz joint especially to those who are in serious relationship cos that zone is ...................(u know what I mean) Also be careful of guys oooo becos some badoos can use words very well to get in between.
If you want to serve in Town(infact u should want to),then join groups in NYSC like OPS,Logistics,Be a Platoon Leader or Financial Secretary(Infact get close to your Platoon Staff, they can do sth about it). Also,in ur 2nd week in Camp, you guys will be asked to go take passport in the Computer room, please and please make friends with any official there, some might be your fellow batch Corper, this peeps can help you. Local Government Areas(Councils)will provide accomodation for their Corpers so u might want to look at that option if you don't have anyone in Abuja. In all, serving in Abuja was fun, real fun so enjoy your service year.Quote me if you have any question.Cheers |
