Politics / The Crossfire From Datti’s Interview: Wole Soyinka And Chimamanda Adichie by Interfaceupdate(f): 2:22pm On Apr 17, 2023
The recent psephological presentations after the just concluded elections in the Nigerian political landscape have generated a lot of crossfire which is termed "gbas gbos" in our local parlance.

Different conflicting reports, arguments, different analysis and counter analysis, interviews and counter interviews, and one of these interviews is that of the vice presidential candidate of the labour party, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed on Arise TV where he fervently stated among other things that President Mohammedu Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria should not swear in the INEC’s declared president elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC on may29 as that would mean the end of democracy in Nigeria because Tinubu does not meet the constitutional requirements to be sworn in.

Datti's assertive statements have generated some reactions from the media airwaves, two of which are the reactions of the Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka and the critically acclaimed award winning author, Chimamanda Adichie.

The interesting similitudes between Soyinka and Adichie is that both of them are internationally renowned writers with inspiring poetic prowess, both of them have their voices in the international sphere of influence, both of them didn't vote in the just concluded elections as they were not present in the country during the elections, but both of them as citizens of the country have rights to comment or react on the electoral process and conducts.

However, the contrast between both of them as regarding Datti's statement is that Soyinka's reaction is on the opposing side while Adichie's reaction is on the supporting side of Datti's interview statements, so the crux of my article is to give an encapsulated analysis on both reactions vis-à-vis Datti's statements, pointing out my observations on the different misconstrues, misinterpretations and misrepresentations flying across the divides.
Starting with the great Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, who requested a debate with Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed over his interview statements, but the challenge was resisted by Datti who gave instances as to why he would not debate him, and one of it is that the Nobel laureate should nominate his "preferred candidate" to debate him instead.

I see a pyrotechnics of misrepresentations and misinterpretations from both Soyinka and Datti. For instance, Datti referring to Bola Tinubu as Soyinka's "preferred candidate" just because he has an opposing view against his statements is an ideological misrepresentation of Soyinka by Datti, because I personally watched Soyinka's interview where he made some unequivocal statements such as:

* The presidency going to the South East for healing of the nation's Civil War.
* Advocating the infusion of young political blood in the helm of affairs, where he stated that he was against both Tinubu and Atiku leading because they are old.
* The decentralization and devolution of power among the 3 tiers of government.
My objective view especially from the above statements is that Soyinka never endorsed Tinubu, he was just criticizing what he considered "strong" statements from Datti in that interview.

Charitably speaking, what I ideally feel the Nobel laureate was saying by his criticism against Datti's statement is:
* Don't heat up the polity by using strong language of incitements, menace, threats, etc.
* Moderate what you say in the public space.
* Case is already in court, wait for the court to decide and stop using language of intimidation to the Supreme arbiter.
Now, the big question is, just as Datti and his sympathizers misinterpreted and misrepresented Soyinka as endorsing Tinubu's presidency, is the Nobel laureate not also guilty of misrepresenting Datti and misinterpreting his statements as inciting and fascistic?
The Britannica dictionary defines Fascism as a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government.
Fascism is a system of government led by a dictator who typically rules by forcefully and often violently suppressing opposition and criticism, controlling all industry and commerce, and promoting nationalism and often racism.

As far as I'm concerned, Fascism is more than dictatorship, it is complete authoritarianism – an anti-democratic government by a strongman or small elite – with a dominant bureaucracy and economic/political control favoring or enforcing strict obedience to a ruling class or system at the expense of personal freedom.

I feel the Nobel laureate's criticism against Datti's statements is prejudicial to the labour party's vice presidential candidate, who was just being fervently assertive in those statements with reflective confidence in the robustness of their case before the court, as he responds to questions from the presenter.
I believe Soyinka is not being fair to have labeled Datti as fascist based on statements which are common in Nigeria's political history.

I think there's also smell of a case of what I would call a SELECTIVE CRITICISM or SELECTIVE ASSESSMENT at play as the Nobel laureate talked about psychological projecting but left the issue of ethnic profiling obvious in the electoral process. Soyinka talked about threats and intimidation of the Supreme arbiter from his assessment of Datti's statements but left the issue of voters' suppression and intimidation seen throughout the just concluded elections. He left these other important issues only to focus more on Datti's statements.

If we are to go by Soyinka's usage of Fascism, then it would mean that the Nigerian polity over the years has been full of fascists. In 2014/15 elections, the APC campaign arms said worse things than Datti have said. Statements like "Democracy would die should PDP is declared winner", "APC would form a parallel government if PDP is declared winner". "Nigeria will burn if I lose the election", "this election is do or die affair", etc.
The Nigerian political landscape has always been littered with these kind of statements by politicians especially the opposition parties.
What is the definition of fascist again? In a very simple term, fascism is someone or something that is UNDEMOCRATIC, so how democratic was a 31yrs old Wole Soyinka who in 1965 “invaded” a radio station in Ibadan and refused the announcement of Akintola as the winner of the election?

How democratic was the just concluded elections amidst voters suppression and intimidation?

Chimamanda Adichie wrote a letter to the US government about how the just concluded election is the most fundamentally flawed in the history of Nigeria's elections, and also pointed out the hypocrisy of the US government when it comes to Africa's electoral process.

This act by the critically acclaimed award winning author generated different reactions from the Nigerian polity, some vilified her while some praised her.
Some have accused her of being tribalistic because she supported the labour party's presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, that it her tribalistic bias that prompted the letter, but I'd like to state that I don't see Adichie's reaction from a tribalistic angle, but from a point of objective perspective especially as regarding the integrity of INEC and the credibility of the elections.
There are electoral laws and format created by the electoral body to ensure a free, fair and credible election; BVAS (Bimodal Voters Accreditation System) was to read the permanent voters card (PVC) in order to ensure that there are no multiple voting or ghost voters, while the IReV (INEC Result Viewing) is a portal connected to the bvas, and to ensure that the accredited voters' votes are uploaded and seen in real time.
What this simply mean is that BVAS and IReV must work for an election to be credible, otherwise the credibility of the election would be questionable.
Although, the INEC came up with reasons of technical glitches as excuse but there was a plethora of mutilated election sheets, polling units agents reports on the difference in their records from what INEC announced, and why was it possible to upload results of other federal elections except for the presidential despite the technical glitch?
So, the questions that beg for answers which are debatable are:
Was it really case of technical glitch or a case of deliberate manipulation?
Did INEC deliver on her electoral promises?
Are the elections credible?
Can INEC be seen as a symbol of national integrity?
Is INEC fascistic?

Politics / Nation Building: Good People, Great Nation by Interfaceupdate(f): 10:48pm On Mar 06, 2023
Written By: Afolabi Dollars

The popular slogan of "good people, great nation" has been in the societal airwaves for a while now, but as initiative as this slogan is, its reality has been hindered or slowed down by divisions and irresponsibility among the leaders and people of our nation.

There is no way we can know what will unite us as a NATION, when we don't even know what is dividing us as a PEOPLE!

I recently read through some Nigerian youths’ comments across social media, and it is obvious that our politicians/political rulers have overtime used the "politricks” of religion, tribal jingoism and ethnicity to enslave many of us, and until some of us taste what true FREEDOM looks like, we'd continue to act and think that slavery is the best and only option! Instead of our education to bring us light, we have rejected the light, and we keep plunging deep down the pit in darkness of ignorance; instead, what we do with our education is blow all kinds of big grammars mixed with calumny and vituperations! So painful for us to admit but many of the NIGERIAN YOUTHS fulminating against POLITICAL SLAVERY are still suffering from MENTAL SLAVERY which is even worse; we have become victims of the worst of all slaveries, and if we don’t emancipate ourselves by ourselves, our political rulers would continue looting and sabotaging our future while we keep fighting ourselves with big grammars, insults and irrational differences along ethno- religion axis!

In the words of Carol Moseley Braun “in politics, there are no permanent enemies, no permanent friends, just permanent interests”. Our very own legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti even established this fact in his 1985 studio album where he sang about “padi padi government” to show that politicians are friends, they are not divided as long as their interest align, they meet at exotic parties and events, they hug, they shake hands, wine and dine, discussing about their next political agenda, but the people who are supposed to be more united especially against any political Mafioso, are even the most divided.

The Hausa hates Igbo, the Igbo hates Hausa, the Yoruba hates Hausa, the Hausa hates Yoruba, the Igbo hates Yoruba, and the Yoruba hates Igbo! The Christians disdain the Muslims while Muslims attack the Christians! But the most disturbing is that the youths hates themselves; SOME YOUTHS OBLIVIOUSLY HATE THEIR FUTURE! And a nation with shallow Minded Youths is on the verge of collapse.

An American author, James Cooper said “individuality is the aim of political liberty”. The liberty or the change we earnestly crave as a nation must begin with us individually as a people because the truth is, there's a NIGERIA/NATION in every home, school, office, church, mosque, group, organization, market, etc. where different INDIVIDUALS such as the father, the principal, the manager, the carpenter, the vulcanizer, the MD, the pastor, the Imam, the youth leader, the iyaloja, etc. are individually the "president/commander-in-chief" of these mini NATIONS within the nation, so before we start complaining about any democratically elected president of the nation with our prejudicial criticisms, let's start with ourselves as INDIVIDUAL "presidents" in every mini "Nigeria" we personally govern or preside over as individuals.
Many of us complain about OUR HEADS OF STATE, but we don't complain about the STATE OF OUR HEADS; we need a dynamic shift in the frequencies of our thinking as a people, towards accurate Nation Building. The house of rep members, the senators, the ministers, the governors, the special advisers, the custom officers, police officers, etc. are all different reflections of the character of the average people of a particular society or nation. So if we point accusing fingers that we don’t have good people as candidates, as political office holders, as governors or as presidents, we are actually pointing to ourselves as a people because those we are accusing are not from other countries or outer space.

We can only become a GREAT citizens when we are first of all a GOOD people; good to one another regardless of tribe, ethnicity or/and religion, as this promotes and ensures peace, unity and progress which remains the strength of any nation.

There is no way we can amplify our STRENGTH as a nation when we have not been able to identify our WEAKNESS as a people; We can only become a GREAT nation by first being a GOOD people; not just by paying lip-service to the slogan "good people, great nation"!
The nation's LEADERSHIP of the people should know that a LEADER that want to deliver a nation must first be delivered from people!

The place of Leaders in NATION BUILDING is therefore to first be delivered from godfatherism, ethnical jingoism, despotism, nepotism, GREED, religious sentiments, CORRUPTION, etc., before he/she can have the moral and judicious capacity to deliver the people!

Our place as a people in NATION BUILDING is NOT about political party affiliation or pointing fingers of accusation against an opposition party; our place is in having a PARADIGM SHIFT; the RIGHT ATTITUDE towards growth & DEVELOPMENT for the benefit of all!

Let us therefore VOTE wisely because OUR VOTE IS OUR VOICE as a people! As long as we keep voting for the wrong leadership for wrong reasons as a PEOPLE, we can never see the better NIGERIA we hope for as a NATION!

The bottom line of what I've been saying is, we are greater and united as a nation than what is dividing us (wrong votes, tribal, ethnic, primordial sentiments, religion etc.) as a people!

Wrong votes every 4years will always divide us as a people and can never unite us as a nation!
Also, talking about the issue of irresponsibility among both the leadership and the people of our great nation, most of us have shown a high level of irresponsibility every 4yrs towards casting votes for the fate of our great nation; we need to understand that anyone who has decided not to vote has already voted, and that "vote" may end up being in favor of the wrong candidate!

Politics / Zulum’s Loyalists, 5000 Supporters Dump APC For Labour Party In Borno. by Interfaceupdate(f): 11:09am On Feb 12, 2023
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed to be loyalists of the Borno State Governor, Babangana Zulum, defected to the Labour Party (LP) weeks to the 2023 general elections.

Receiving the defectors at NLC’s Multi-Purpose Hall in Maiduguri on Friday, the acting secretary of LP in Borno State, Ishaku Yakubu said the defectors were loyalists of the Governor who resigned their membership of the APC to the Labour Party.

Yakubu assured the defectors that they would not regret joining the Labour Party, saying “everyone has equal rights in the LP”.

According to him, “in Labour Party, there is no discrimination, we are all equal, you that joined today are equal in status as we are, we are a one and united family”.

He urged all aggrieved members of the APC and PDP in Borno State to join the Labour Party in defeating APC in this year’s general elections.”

Declaring their support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the governorship candidate in the state, Ibrahim Kadafur, the leader of the defectors, Modu Gana Gudumbali said they decided to join LP because APC has brought hardship to Nigerians.

“We were loyal to our former boss Governor Zulum but we are not gaining anything in that government because the APC are not ready to listen to us, they are not given us room to know our problems in Northern Borno, particularly Gubio, Mobbar, Abadam and Guzamala.

“Five thousand of us decampees (sip) to Labour Party among us is Mustapha Kaka Gubio, Modu Mala APC, Isa Gabchirima, we well known by the Governor as diehard of the APC”.

“The ruling All Progressives Congress had sacked many teachers in Borno, look at issues of naira swap, many IDPs are now don’t have something to eat, no security, no electricity”.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no other candidate who has come up to offer what Obi is offering to the people of Nigeria.

“We want government that will be run by the patriotic people not by social media propaganda,” he said.

Business / INTERFACE AFRICA EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH OLUSHOLA MEDUPIN (ENISH) by Interfaceupdate(f): 8:56pm On Feb 03, 2023
SHOLA MEDUPIN, An accomplished restaurateur, FOUNDER/CEO of ENISH GROUP, with ten restaurants in London, two of a $ 1 million and $10 million dollar restaurant in Dubai.

The Enish has hosted world class Celebrities like Floyd Mayweather, Rick Ross, Anthony Joshua, and their likes. Enish restaurant is changing the narrative by serving local food in a five-star environment. So we interviewed him to get an insight into his life as an entrepreneur and any advice he has for other budding entrepreneurs.

In this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with www.interfaceafrica.org, he tells it all about the success story of Enish, the initial hiccups, how foreigners are loving the Nigeria and African cuisines, and what lies ahead.

1. How did you become an entrepreneur? Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Shola Medupin. I am from the Yoruba-speaking part of Kogi State. We started Enish in London in October 2013. The name Enish is derived from the initials of my wife’s name and mine as well. My wife’s name is Eniola, and I am Shola. So, we coined Enish from the first three letters of her name and the first two letters of my name. But the rationale for Enish is that we have seen a lot of Nigerian restaurants abroad and they look dirty and my question is always, must it be a dirty place because we go to other restaurants in Central London and other places and they look decent. Even when I need to take my friends out, I find it difficult to go to a Nigerian restaurant in London because of the lack of decent Nigerian dining outlets. So, that was how the idea of Enish came up. We wanted to do something different, and we started a restaurant. The first two years were a bit difficult, but after that teething period, everything picked up.

The PDP candidate for the Lagos West senatorial seat, Otunba Segun Adewale has been installed by the Eze Mkpume 11 of Lagos state, Igwe Hycenth Ohazuruike as the "ANYA NDIGBO OF LAGOS STATE".

The ceremony took place at the Igwe Ohazuruike Road Oshodi and had in attendance all the Igbos in Lagos West.

'ANYA NDIGBO' which translates as "the eyes of the Igbos" is not just a title, it's a revered honour that's bestowed on a relevant and supportive member of the society. The NDIGBOs' agreed that only Otunba Segun Adewale is worthy of this title considering his antecedence and consistency towards the community.

Otunba Segun Adewale expresses his gratitude for being honoured with such a tremendous title by the Ndigbo society; pointing out that he has always enjoyed a cordial and mutual relationship with the Ndigbo since childhood.

He acknowledges that the Ndigbo has helped him and in return, he had helped them by sending some of them abroad, and also assisting them financially; especially the traders.

Towards the end of the event, the association of the Ndigbo endorses Otunba Segun Adewale; acknowledging his efforts and consistency over the years while unanimously declaring their support and promising to cast their votes for him as the Senator to represent Lagos West.

Politics / *re-account For The N150m Rally Funds Allocated To Lagos. PART 1* *...A FIGMENT by Interfaceupdate(f): 7:46pm On Dec 10, 2022
Dear Distinguished Leaders and Members of our great party - PDP,

It is very neccesary at this time for members of our party to rise above the bickering and shenanigans prior to our primary elections and accept ALL our candidates NOT from the caucuses they belong to but as PDP CANDIDATES and to join hands to support them to win the general elections. It is also pertinent to put on record that our Gubernatorial candidate and his Deputy are putting in all efforts to ensure that PDP wins the next election in Lagos state. Worthy of mentioning is the ongoing visitation to the 245 electoral wards in the state, out of which 95 is completed and not just visits, but holding strategic meetings with key stakeholders in the state towards securing their support, a feat that is new to candidates of any political party in the history of Lagos state.

Presidential Campaign Rally held on Monday December 5 was an eye opener to the challenges awaiting the party in the state and has put to fore the need to double our efforts and to come together to enable us defeat the ruling APC government in the state come 2023. The event, despite the initial challenges, came out successfully, all thanks to the initiative of the Lagos PCC, which swung into action immediately and averted the planned evil by the ruling party with the support of their cronies within Lagos PDP of which is this so called whistle blower, who has never seen anything good in Lagos PDP, despite claiming to be a member of the party.
The present leadership of Lagos PDP is consistent in it's open policy, objective and accountable in all their dealings.

Members should be adequately informed that our Gubernatorial candidate had little or nothing to do with the arrangements for the rally neither were the Lagos PCC. The National PCC made all the arrangements from the national office and only delegated the mobilisation of members to the Lagos PCC. The major challenges to the rally was the glitches experienced in transporting our Members to the venue which was nothing but a deliberate action to sabotage the Monday rally, as transporters contracted were not only paid up front, but also signed agreements to convey our people to the venue.

Upon realization of this development, the leadership of Lagos PCC immediately swung into action to source for an alternative by releasing funds to stakeholders in the affected Local Governments, a development that eventually brought about the success we recorded on Monday.

This is the first time the ruling party who were bent on truncating our Monday rally will be so jittery, and that’s because of the continued growth in our candidates popularity and acceptance. The money paid to this transport operators where glitches were experienced had since been recovered and deposited in the PCC accounts for future use.

The myopic mind of the whistle blower claimed that our Gubernatorial candidate *JANDOR* and some individuals mentioned in the campaign of calumny write-up as being sole dictator in the party in the state can only be laughable and a pointer to the shallowness of his thinking ability and also an exposure of his aim which is self adulation and greediness which CANNOT be allowed to fester destruction to the efforts of all our candidates who are working assiduously to win their elections.

On the issue of LAGOS FOR LAGOS claim, we believe that our members can read in between the lines of the writer's aim to discredit our Gubernatorial candidate because he is of a different caucus and he is still bitter over the outcome of our party primary elections. We urge our members not to entertain any divisive narrations towards segregating Lagos PDP along caucuses and to come together to enable us confront our common opponent APC in the next election, to win and form a government in Lagos state come May 29 2023 by the power of the Almighty God. Amen.

On the welfare of the members in attendance, 12 Local Governments got their snacks at the venue, handed over to all their LGA Chairmen in presence of other LGA stakeholders. Those distributing it had to stop when the arena became tensed and rowdy, moved the snack out and distributed to the remaining 8 Local Governments next Morning.

On the issue of mobilisation and logistics, those who are close to how the mobilisation logistics were distributed will be able to see the sinister aim of the whistle blower with the way he muddle up figures which shows his claims were just figments of imagination of a confused person. The PCC ensured that the amount allocated to each LGA were given to the respective chairpersons and their Candidates, Youth and Women leaders were present to witness the handing over of the money to ensure judicious distribution. One wonders, where this whistle blower got his information from and we challenge him to come boldly to prove his claims.

We were amused at the whistle blower's reference to the APC and LP candidate challenges to the party and we wonder if he is supporting the duo with his illusions filled write-up or he is for the PDP? We urge our members who are conversant with the whistle blower tantrums to ask him who is he working for by deliberately using illusions filled lies to cause disharmony in our party and deliberately undermining the personality of our Gubernatorial candidate? We believe the party has Leaders and they have remained a listener to all grievances with many of them amicably resolved to further strengthen our party position towards the success of the next election and we are using this opportunity to appeal to every individual and groups to channel their grievances to appropriate leaders of the party and stop further divisive attitude that is not beneficial to them or our party.

On behalf of the leadership of the PDP in Lagos State, the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), our Gubernatorial candidate and members of our great party PDP we want to once again appreciate our Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON Waziri Adamawa for his visits to Lagos and for his promises to the people of the state and Nigeria especially and we would like to assure him that victory awaits him at the next polls in Lagos.

Once again, we appreciate all our committed members who against all odds made it to the venue of the rally.

Thank you

The House of Representatives has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to halt the implementation of the new cash withdrawal policy slated for January 9, 2023 pending compliance with the provisions of the Act establishing the bank.

The House also summoned CBN Governor Godwin Emiefele in accordance with the provisions of the Central Bank Act to brief the Chamber on several policies of the bank in recent times.

There was anger in the House on Thursday as members took turns to condemn the new cash withdrawal policy, saying it will grossly affect small businesses and the economy since most rural communities don’t have access to banks.

However, following a point of order raised by Mark Gbillah on the provisions of the Central Bank Act, the House directed the CBN Governor to appear before the House on Thursday, December 15, 2022 to brief the House on why the policy should be allowed to stand.

The governor who disclosed that his decision to be in the G5 group is in the interest of Oyo state, adding that talk is going on between the G5 and Atiku group.

“This is a game of interest, by God’s grace next four years I will still be the Governor. There are many positions in federal, we have ministerial, federal works and few other positions. If Oyo state interest is not protected i wont fight for it, I can’t be the Governor and minister at the same time. I can’t be the Governor and be the chairman of one federal agency at the same time, the positions needs to be occupied by some of us.

I’m in a position to project and protect the interest of all of us. So we are still talking, it is not yet time, and it has a reason why it is not yet time. So I want to beg you all, federal will not hang in the air, it is from polling unit to the ward, to local government to state that makes up federal. So our work is at the grassroot level, let us go to our polling units, our wards, let’s organize ourselves at the local level, and at the state level will do everything within our power.

A friend of PDP in Oyo state gave us 33 new brand new buses, one per local government so we will give our coordinators at the local government level…

Politics / Atiku Rally: Crisis Hits Lagos PDP Over Fraud In Transportation Logistics, Flopp by Interfaceupdate(f): 9:52am On Dec 06, 2022
The Lagos PDP has been embroiled in another crisis over the just concluded Atiku Rally in Lagos which took place on Monday.

The Presidential Campaign Council committee in Lagos had announced the hiring of 1,240 buses billed to convey members to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), but members early on Monday on various PDP platforms have criticized those in charge that, not even half of the buses allocated to their Local Government was seen which left members stranded and hopeless.

The promise to provide rally attendees with refreshments did not get to them and are now complaining bitterly over the ill-fated Atiku/Okowa campaign in Lagos.

Lagosians have also taken to different social media platforms, lambasting Atiku campaign Organization, that, fixing the rally on Monday is the most unwise thing for PDP to do, because, Lagos as the commercial nerve of the country is busy with business.

There have been trading of blames amongst the handlers of the rally, while that was going on, the Gubernatorial candidate of the party in Lagos, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran Olajide Jandor, have been accused of hijacking the planning, and execution of the rally.

A member of the PDP PCC who wants to remain unnamed said, all members of the party in Lagos who feel ill-treated or not provided with their mobilization should hold Jandor responsible. We don't know why the terrible lie that 1,240 buses were hired, he asked further that where were the buses parked that the rally recorded the lowest crowd ever since PDP started rally in Lagos.

Hon Fatee known as FAMO, an House of Representatives candidate posted that only 14 out of the 56 buses allocated to her Local Government in Ifako Ijaye conveyed people to the venue.

Since Jandor joined Lagos PDP, all his effort has been how to solely control the affairs of the party, stressing further that no candidate has dared to do what Jandor is doing in the party in Lagos, which is tearing the party further apart.

Apart from his quest for total control of Lagos PDP affairs, he does not have regard for leaders or anyone who do not share his myopic view on activities of the party.

Unlike in the past, such rally will naturally attract big wigs from the region, and conspicuously Chief Olabode George and other Chieftains were not in attendance, showing a serious crack within the State Chapter of the party.

Other candidates running for elective positions under PDP in Lagos were also said to be angry with the PCC for not duly according them respect or recognition, while a section of Anti-Ayu protesters were seen chanting #AyuMustGo during the rally.
Politics / APC Supporters, Chieftains Decamp To Drum Up Support For Aeroland 2023 Campaign by Interfaceupdate(f): 10:52am On Dec 01, 2022
Neglected community gets water pumping machine donation from Aeroland
Amidst the soaring popularity and endorsement of the Senatorial aspiration of Otunba Segun Adewale(Aeroland) for Lagos West in 2023, several residents including chieftains of the ruling APC in Ayobo/IPaja L.C.D.A have thrown their weight behind the Aero 2023 project.

The decampees' decision came after the Lagos West Senatorial candidate's unannounced visit to Oluwadare community on Sunday, Nov 27th, 2022. Distraught by the plight of the residents who decried their lack of access to potable water owing to non-availability of a pumping water, Adewale made a donation of a pumping machine to ameliorate the sufferings of the residents who noted that the serving Senator has done nothing to ease their pains despite their votes for the party and it's candidate.

Moved by the uncommon kind gesture in the community, hundreds of APC supporters and chieftains promised to support and vote Adewale in the coming election noting that the unparalleled record as a candidate is a precursor to greater landmark achievement when elected as a senator.

Speaking further on Adewale's gesture, a leader in the community, Mr. Adebiyi muftau, recalled that the community had been without potable water since the pumping machine to the community borehole packed up. While offering prayers and support for the aspiration of Adewale for a Senatorial Seat, the APC chieftain promised to mobilize the entire community and it's environs for the victory of the Senatorial Candidate and the PDP in the forthcoming election.

Towing the same line, hundreds of residents of the community vowed to reciprocate Adewale's gesture by ensuring his victory in the Senatorial election in Lagos come February 2023. While expressing their optimism on the capacity of Adewale to deliver democracy dividends when elected, they noted that Adewale's record of performance and experience towers above other candidates for the Lagos West Seat.

Politics / JANDOR Slams Lagos State Government For Shutting Markets For APC Campaign Rally by Interfaceupdate(f): 10:04am On Nov 26, 2022
25th November 2022

PRESS RELEASE

*JANDOR slams Lagos State Government for shutting markets for APC campaign rally tomorrow*

***Lampoons Sanwo-Olu for threatening market leaders with dire consequences if they shun the planned rally

The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul- Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) has condemned the plan of the ruling APC to shut down all major markets in the state tomorrow as a ploy to force the traders in all the market to attend their planned campaign rally.

It was reported earlier today that leaders of the major markets in the state cried out in reaction to the directive of the state government that the markets will be shut because of the APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday, 26th November 2022 at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere area of the state.

The marketers' associations leaders also decried the threat issued by some agents of the state government and the MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee to victimize any trader who fails to attend the planned rally.

JANDOR described the said action of the state government as insensitive, callous, barbaric, and criminal. He stated that the traders are free citizens of the country whose right to do business is protected by the law of the nation. And that any act to intimidate or threaten them to attend a programme against their wish is criminal and inhuman.

The Governorship hopeful warned the state government to desist from unleashing further pains on the people of the state who are barely surviving the harsh economic condition of the country which the bad governance of the APC at the federal and state levels has plucked the nation into. He, therefore, advised the state government to rescind from going ahead with the wicked plan of denying the helpless traders their daily bread for tomorrow's APC rally.

He also enjoined the traders and market association leaders to stand their ground by refusing to be bamboozled by the outgoing clueless government into attending the show of shame planned for tomorrow.

JANDOR appealed to all the good people of the state to keep hope alive as they endure the remaining days of the inept APC-led administration. He assured them that their vote for the PDP in the 2023 general elections will birth the much-desired breath of fresh air in the governance of the state.

Otunba Adewale Segun was seen on the street of Lagos West engaging electorates, canvassing for votes and plainly telling them what he will do if elected as a senator in 2023.

Politics / Pdp-atiku/g-5 Crisis: The Plain Truth. by Interfaceupdate(f): 4:45pm On Nov 22, 2022
Atiku Abubakar never breached PDP policy, it was Gov. Wike and his allies like; Sen. Sam Daddy Anyanwu, Govs. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, that breached PDP Agreement and should be held responsible.

When this game started, there were (two) clans of PDP Presidential position in the South-East extraction, and they are Sen. Pius Anyim and Mr. Peter Obi.

Ihedioha, Gov. Diri of Bayelsa State, Tambuwal, H/E Jonathan were on the side of Sen. Pius Anyim, with the objective of Sen. Pius Anyim becoming the Presidential Candidate, while Tambuwal will deputize him.

Atiku Abubakar, Obaseke, Saraki, and Okowa were on the side of Mr. Peter Obi, with the objective of Mr. Peter Obi becoming the Presidential Candidate, while Saraki deputize him. All these were on plan based on the Party Agreement after 2019 General Election.

Later, Govs. Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Samuel Ortom and Seyi Makinde ignored what was agreed to side Gov. Wike.

PDP intentionally brought National Secretary to Anambra State, in order to strengthen Mr. Peter Obi, but when Gov. Wike noticed it, he called on the (two) PDP Governors in the South-East to reject it and support Sen. Sam Daddy Anyanwu so as to pave way for them, which they did.

Remember that Mr. Peter Obi, Ihedioha, and Achike Udenwa refused and asked that the position of National Secretary should go to the appropriate place mentioned, but Govs. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Okezie Ikpeazu refused, of course you know that they are the only (two) Governors in the South-East, their choice will not be easy to reject.

That was the place Mr. Peter Obi and Ihedioha started having doubt on the issue of the President. Remember that there was an Agreement signed by the PDP Stakeholders for the Presidential Ticket to be zoned to South-East, but Gov. Samuel Ortom being the Chairman of the Zoning Committee aborted it, and throw it open simply because he wants Gov. Wike against the initial plan.

Atiku Abubakar came into consideration when Mr. Peter Obi resigned from the race, because then there were so many atrocities in South-East PDP, courtesy of Sen. Sam Daddy Anyanwu, but the Party Leaders like: Obaseke, Saraki, Tambuwal, Ihedioha and others who believe in equity, justice and fairness saw that the only person to get this Ticket out from Gov. Wike is Atiku Abubakar, that was why all the South-South Governors fought against Gov. Wike even to the extent of Vice Presidential choice.

At initial stage, PDP Governors didn’t want Atiku Abubakar, that was why Atiku Abubakar encouraged Mr. Peter Obi to go, and pick Nomination Form.

If we are to blame, we should blame the (two) PDP Governors from the South-East extraction that sold out for the interest of Gov. Wike as against South-East, Sen. Sam Daddy Anyanwu included.

Gov. Wike really dealt with Mr. Peter Obi Presidential ambition, Gov. Wike and Sen.Sam Daddy Anyanwu went to the extent of disqualifying the Executives of PDP in Anambra State through Court, had it been that Party Executives were allowed to vote, Anambra State PDP Executives wouldn't have voted, by then what could have been Mr. Peter Obi's faith in the race.

So to me, let's fight Those that breached the Agreement, and allow People who didn't do anything wrong.

Atiku Abubakar was not the one that throw the Primary Election open, it was Gov. Samuel Ortom who was the Chairman of the Zoning Committee that did it for the interest of Gov. Wike.

Remember that Atiku Abubakar, Saraki and Okowa, once said that, if we want to go by the Party Constitution, we should Zone it to North, but if it's by the Agreement made after 2019 Election, it should be go to Southern region that have not produce President, which is South-East precisely, adding that it is only South-East and North-East that have not produce President, the four Contestants agreed to step down, if it is been zoned to South-East, but Gov. Samuel Ortom never did so, rather he threw it open in order to pave way for Gov. Wike.
This is the time we should all stand against semi God within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and rescue Nigeria from imminently collapse from this present Government of the APC.
May the Almighty God grant us the Leader that can take us out from this mess that APC has impacted into the Citizenry of the County

Politics / 2023: Crisis Rocks APC As Group Asks Ex-lagos Deputy Gov, Adebule To Step Down by Interfaceupdate(f): 3:49pm On Oct 24, 2022
Fresh crisis is brewing among the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos West as some members of the party under the umbrella of the Alimosho Youth Vanguard, AYV has called on Dr. Idiat Adebule, the Senatorial Candidate in Lagos West to step down.

The group alleged that Dr. Adebule’s candidacy was obtained illegally through the back door and anything built on illegality is bound to fail.

A top member of the group, who preferred not to be mentioned said the reason for the call was premised on the fact that the former deputy Governor came into the race from the back door due to the influence of some top political actors and therefore did not go through the screening process.

“Some AYV youths who are members of the ruling party have confirmed to us that Tinubu and other party leaders in the state secretly obtained the nomination forms for Mrs Idiat Oluranti Adebule, a former deputy governor of the state, through the back door. Her form was obtained after all senatorial aspirants had been screened, forms closed and process completed.

“Should we take this as teaser of what to expect if by accident BAT becomes the president?", the AYV member said.

Speaking to during the AYV weekly activity review meeting on Monday, a source said “It’s ridiculous and it is worrisome to some of us as members of the same party to see a non-aspirant, Dr.Idiat Adebule became the flag bearer . Maybe we should challenge her to publish the teller or e-receipt of the transfer of the expression of interest and nomination forms fee she paid to the party”

The source further stressed that “ We are only aware of three aspirants namely; Mr. Kayode Opeifa , Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, and Mrs. Joke Orelope-Adefulire. The three obtained nomination forms from Lagos West and just just the former minister, Obanikoro and Opeifa was able to submit their forms and completed their screening before the committee. Orelope-Adefulire didnt process further after obtaining the form.

“Idiat Adebule was never mentioned at any point before and during the processes of submission of forms or screening, having not obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms in the first place.

“We have complained to the leadership that we are not pleased with this outcome. I make bold to tell you that the party members will not vote for her. Aside the fact that she underperformed as a deputy Governor which makes her unqualified, She did not take part in the screening. It was only Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Adejoke Orelope and Opeifa that obtained the forms but only Obanikoro and Opeifa attended the screening exercise because Orelope was made to retain her current appointment as the SSA to the president on SDGs.

“We do not support such iillegality and we are therefore advising her to step down her ambition. The party belongs to all of us . I can confirm to you that the vast majority of our members will not vote for her”
