Dear all, sorry to derail partially from this thread. My concern is about the epidemic called Ebola Virus and is implication on we aspiring students of Australia. Is this going to affect out travel? I feel if there is a surge of this virus, the Australian Government may decide not to issue visas to us.

Please is this Ebola outbreak going to affect our traveling to OZ in any way?

Recently, Some local agents have claimed that they could provide paid services on Chinese visa application. The Embassy and Consulate of China in Nigeria declares on their website as follows:

1. According to relevant Chinese regulations, all Nigerian visa applicants must come to the Embassy or Consulate in person for interview and other procedures of Chinese visa application.
2. The Chinese Embassy or Consulate has never authorized any unit, organization or person as agent for Chinese visa application.
3. The Chinese Embassy or Consulate do not charge extra fees for the visa application, except for the stipulated ones (Please refer to the Visa Fee webpage) based on relevant Chinese regulations.

so saying that an agent processed it for you means you have to be really careful and just like justwise said Hong Kong visa is not a schengen visa and you can ask your cousin in Hong Kong to check the authencity of your visa at Hong Kong Immigration office, hope this helps

l wont be able to hazard a guess as to the amount of BTA you might hold before been allowed into Hong Kong, ask your friend since he lives there already, again, what is/are your reasons for your trip?.......if it is for business, then you should have the invitation letter of the company/organisation inviting you, hotel reservation, and if for tourism, you should have a detailed plan/map of the places of interest you will visit, the number of days and all that, the list/questions could be endless, talk to your friend to advise/guide you on what to do, since he is a citizen, he should have first hand informations for you. Yes they can verify it, if it is genuine/fake they will tell you,but, mind you possession of visa is not a guarantee of entry/entrance into some countries, your been allowed entry depends on the border officials at the point of arrival and it can be for several reasons, you must be able to show or demonstrate to border officials on arrival the reasons why you choose to visit their country, either for tourism,business, school & employment and you must also have sufficient BTA to show them as part of been stamped in, basically they will ask you questions on arrival, so it is possible to hold a genuine visa and be refused entry on arrival by border officials if they are not satisfied with your answers. Don't wait until you arrive Hong Kong before you verify it,l will suggest you take it to Chinese embassy for verification, since they are under Chinese administration/governance.

I applied for a HK visa since May 2013 and just yesterday the lady that processed my visa called me and told me ma visa is out. I have a very strong doubt as its my first time of applying for a visa and also ma passport is a virgin passport. I had issues with my agent because I thought she was a fraud when she collected 40k from me and after some months, I angrily requested for my passport and forgot everything about the HK trip totally. Now my fried in the states told me that HK visa is shengen visa and that the fake is so much here in Nigeria that I should try and verify. He also said the only way to verify is when I get to HK. Now I'm very confused, and I don't believe the agent either. Please house I need help I'm very confused now. I need your comments. Thanks and pardon ma English.

Alot of abracadabra, the more you look the less you see kind of thing and you know what he disappeared!
His boys used up all my materials, messed up everywhere (that is what oga said story)

When he reappeared: more grammar and more money but...that project is over & done.

I thought: ok this is another way I could have done it.
Then Now I hear Oga left it to another Oga who ALSO left and the Ironbender...

I have given other jobs to Europeans and Chinese (with my presence for Chinese) and no grammar.

Nigerians should start to factor in the customer in their desire to 'make a kill'.

Brabus I like your zeal but : "The client wanted it like that" is not an acceptable excuse. Be professional and fair.

What Spyder said is the correct and remedial: "Foundation columns of 230mm should be inserted, a carpenter should do it ASAP, a foundation capping beam plus filling the holes of the blocks, a thicker slab and we are safer here. Brabus, prepare this foundation like it will carry 9" blocks and pillars on top of the DPC. After the decking 6" blocks could be used to complete the house.there is still time to correct things."

The advice to break everything and start AFRESH with 9-inch blocks may look like a loss but may be cheaper in the immediate future. The difference between this and "remedial work" suggested is worth it.

Please explain further on how breaking the already used 6 block and replacing with 9 inch will be cheaper....

deking: Lets be frank and help this situation. we don't want to start patching things up at this stage. Someone's children will live in that house tomorrow. in my opinion the architect made a mistake yes but I did expect that Oga Brabus should have picked this and advised the owner before the first block was laid. In my humble opinion, when it Comes to foundations, the best way is the right way.

Kindly take a reverse gear swallow the humble pie and do the right thing. afterall the architect quoted for 9 inches why use 6.

This no doubt will come at some cost but it is better than ending up with a collapsed building. So for me option 1. Rebuild the foundation using the right specs.

option 2. leave the building as a bungalow.

I stand to be corrected.

@is that the only option? cant something else be done? I think its the pillars that carries a house and not the blocks. Since oga brabus said the pillars are very much ok, cant he fill the blocks with watery concrete and cement? cant something else be done? must the owner do a new foundation. The experts in the house should suggest something. I am not a builder but would wanna build someday and if im in the client shoes right now, bringing down the foundation or doing a bungalow wont be funny at all.....
