RIP Lexie 20/07/2016 to 04/06/2017 really missed her scattering and tearing everything up, but was really a lovely experience in her short life

Sorry guys, lexie died last night, called her out to feed her but she didn't respond, went to check and saw her lying down although she was acting kind of slow all day but nothing suspicious as I took them for checkup just upper saturday and they were just given multivitamin and deworming injections, had to bury d carcass painfully but ll get a replacement by nect month.as tessy may not be able to cope with the new experience of being alone

This is lovely.

I'll love to replicate this at my place
Thanks, Its challenging raising dogs I must tell you but I believe its worth it, all it take is just genuine love for them cos they really will test your patience as you have to constantly guard against lice and ticks, cook daily for them( dont have a restaurant nearby) clean their kennels and their litter after them and they get into lots of mischief especially when u turn ur back, I currently have no good usable palm sandal cos d dogs have chewed all of them, I just wear them like that now, then especially when u r extremely broke and u imagine well over a hundred thousand investment jumping on u, it take every resolve not to try and get money off ur dog.they fall sick and u r even more sick with worry,But all that aside truth is they bring great joy watching them esp from puppy stage to adulthood, they just love u unconditionally and its hard not to reciprocate cos sometimes they just do things to make u laugh just thinking about it, plus u get to exercise a lot, thats if u r not raising them for security of which is there major benefits, I used to complain my dogs are very docile when it come to people but I just realise that all they needed was time, now once its seven pm nobody touches the gate without a guide to escort them inside, and its so much fun, I really encourage u to go for it if u have d time and resources to commit cos they eat a lot too especially mastffs, cheers

Tessy came on her 2nd heat on the 7th so I took her for mating with 'Don' a massive male bullmastiff, on the 17th and 18th of march, now its just a waiting game for the outcome but im really excited with d prospects of expecting her first litter, was advised to tie one of her legs to prevent her from stretching out the potential pups even when I ve not confirmed anything yet cos she jumps a lot and stretch a lot so that's what ll commence from next week, movement restrictions. I ve patiently waited almost a year for this and d next few months is really going to be very defining for me

Lexie, jake messi and our definition of going for a walk.we just run round d compound, had d first official long walk just last month cos they have all d space they need to expend their energies without having to go outside the house, now a days we just run on the street every morning and we r good for the day, for the tantrums your pupy throw, I ll suggest you just ignore her, she would get used to the collar with time.

Lexie came at 8 wks with two gsds of 6 wks, they got their collars after two weeks. I just allow them play with the collars more like introducing them to it before putting I round their necks, that way they r more receptive to it, beside when they notice they r not the only ones wearing it, they try to pull it off d neck of the other ones but themselves

I have a question?? At what age did you start attaching collars to their neck and when did you start taking them on walks cos my puppy goes berserk whenever I put a collar on his neck
I try to put collar as early as I can, tessy and ozil came at four months of age from a training school so they were already used to it,i had plenty of space in d compound so we walk and run round the compound daily while doing basic training although they really dont find it funny to chain them

I love dis thread, dis is wat I call a farm, Do u trust ur dogs wit those chickens? u ve tried wit dt much dog
Thanks, the dogs do their best to control themselves but sometimes instincts take over, but to give them credit they hardly do it when someone is around although they chase the local chickens that lay outside to try and eat their eggs at night so we r working on that aspect, so far I ve lost about twelve live birds to a total of five dogs over one year but that was at home and since we moved to the farm, they ate just one rooster but I ve stopped raising rabbits completely cos they must kill them, they killed about 8 rabbits over two weeks by either waylaying them at night or breaking d cage door when no one is watching, their primary job for now is to ensure that every animal stay in its place by chasing birds to cage and d goats to their shed leaving d centre of d farm clear, then alerting whenever anyone is at d gate and so far so good they r doing wel, as for the qty, I sold d gsd today so I could focus on d mastiffs as they r my primary concern so they r down to two now cos cost of feeding isnt very funny at all

Agriculture / Re: What Agricultural Business Can You Start Up With #60,000 by isa112(m): 9:46am On Feb 03, 2017
With 60k you can actually do plantain farming if you are in the south and have the land to take them, the hybrid suckers should be about 150 and eight months to a year, u can start harvesting In phases, in d north, you can actually rent up to a hectare of land and plant maize, the money ll cover both land ,tractor hire, labour, seedlings u should target between 30 to 50 bags at harvest, as for livestock, if u have d space then buy 4 point of lay local turkeys and one tom,ll cost u about 30k, if u have the patience and luck within two months some of ur birds will give u an average of at least three to seven poults, u can sell day old at 600 or brood and sell and 1500 so there r so many small scale biz u can do with that money but it wont bring back ur money in a week thats y pple shy away from it, but great things start small, plus u cant buy the experience as well, good luck

Loving ur thread bro, but please let me chop this in, can u try and increase d fawns diet as she looks a bit lean, talking about the visible ribs, thank u
Thanks for the observation, I spoke with my vet about it as I noticed it two weeks ago, he diagnosed that they needed to be dewormed and gave them injection for ecto and endo parasites, then stress as well as I moved them from my house to the farm but im adjusting the diet as well so hopefully within a week, they will look better

Crownadex:
I should wait till around March or April ?
Just calculate 9weeks prior to the festive season u r planing for then stock but not to discourage you, u can do a feasibility study know how or if u could sell at a profit off season but here in the north its really challenging, just go round and ask questions pertaining your target market, farming isnt an internet biz where one sit down comfortably, there is a lot at stake so u can start by asking people u know like how many qty they could buy if u produce, weldone boss

You mean I should put in mind that I would sell my mature broilers for 900 Naira each? But Noeloge82 said he usually sell his broilers to market women for N2,000 all year round. Anyway, thanks for the information.
He already has his market, you are just starting out, first start out by sourcing your target market, if its market women thats your target, do a survey, go meet them and ask them how much they buy and the quantity etc, go to more than one person, trust me its not easy but its worth it, better to sweat in peace time, if u r targeting people you know to help you network also know that u have to give them some incentive to motivate them and thats from your profit, but I dont know your location but from now to march there are plenty of broilers in the market, and the demand is low,so simple economics law of dd and ss will give you your answer, forget my plenty grammar what u simply need to do is go to your market whether market, shawarma, barbeque joints, hotels, caterers ask them how much they sell to get an idea how much they buy as some ll be reluctant with that information saying that they cant price what they dont see, I wish u all the best but please dont experiment with more than 200 birds to start out with

Bros take my advice, raising 500 birds isnt the challenge, anyone can do that, selling them is the challenge, before u venture into broilers on a large scale you must be absolutely sure you can sell them, no market woman will count her 1800 to buy broilers from you except its for festive season, so go round first, get your target market that you are very confident will buy so you dont end up feeding grower fEed to your broilers to cut down on cost like I did once upon a time, just budget 900 per bird off season and 1200 for festive periods so u could make profit.cheers

If u have where to house them, 150k ll raise u about 150 broilers with the current inflation of feed thats over 4k,but i ll suggest u calculate and do it for festive period like easter or salah as there is hardly any serious buyer that ll buy your birds for a profit and pay cash off season, for layers, I ll suggest you budget 1500 to 1700 per bird from day old to laying to cover buying d birds, debeaking, brooding and vaccinations because the feed cost is skyrocketing daily so its best to over estimate, so divide ur 130k by 1700 to know how many pullets u can raise or best still buy point of lay, but just note that no business is easy so be sure its what u want to go into before u invest, and also note all the capital wont be gotten back in one swoop, its a business that require patience, I hope it help. cheers

More pictures of tessy growing up at about nine months, she hate nothing more than being on a leash and has devised a way of always jumping out of the kennel or cutting the chain she is on, so most times I just let her roam if im around as she has a way of eating my birds and rabbits if I mistakenly leave her free even for an hour with noone to watch her

Now and then, tessy came in april last year with a lhasa (ozil) that later died due to injection abscess, always in a smiling mood and i'm surprised how big she has grown over the few months though we argued with my friends on her first day that her face isnt squared enough for a mastiff despite al d guarantee I got about her pureness, I had to request for the parents just to be sure, and she has changed a lot to be rougher and tougher though im told its mostly males that have very square and rough jaws, but all the same, im just happy to have her, as for her being mild, I ve tried everything to make her become a dog that bark and bite people but discovered that you dont need to force it out of a dog, she is beginning to bark at people now something she never does, so it get better with age, just waiting for her to whelp her first set of pupies as im told thats when she ll start preventing people from coming near her although whether she decide to change her temperament or not, I have to like her for who she is as I still have a long relationship with her and being my first real dog, we ve bonded quite well

My experience with rico chick mash is good but noticed their weight for grower wasnt measuring up, I had to switch to hybrid but the growth was fair for my pullets to be fair to them but they were as light as feather, a disaster with their broiler program, still paying d price for buying their starter in bulk, my advice is ignore the low price and go for a higher priced more quality product, both you and your birds will be happier for it
