Politics / Matawalle to NEF: Tinubu Won 2023 Elections Convincingly, You Don't Speak For Us by isaajibola(m): 9:18am On Apr 13
The Northern Elders Forum has come under fire for its recent comments regarding the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The NEF recently said it regretted supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

The forum said it would prioritise someone who is seen as “more inclusive, less controversial, and more aligned with the interests of all regions of the country”.

Reacting to the comment in a press statement on Saturday, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, described the action of the NEF as a political burden on the North.

Matawalle stressed that members of NEF lack the authority to speak for the entire region, noting that they have become a political burden to Northerners.

He said, “My attention has been drawn to the threats issued by the Northern Elders Forum against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is ‘reprehensible and naive’. It is preposterous for a group of people seeking political relevance to overburden the system and create political disunity among Nigerians.

“The so-called NEF is more or less a political paperweight trying to embark on a destructive journey that will bring the North to disrepute for the group’s personal and selfish gains.

“This NEF is more of a political burden to Northerners. The group is seeking to erode other people’s rights in order to be recognised or made relevant in the scheme of things despite the failure of their sponsored candidates in the 2023 general elections.

“In as much as many have overlooked them in respect of their utterances, it is pertinent to underscore their overbearing attitude on issues that affect political unity and cohesion. They can not offer any positive idea or thought about the future of Northern Nigeria or, indeed, of Nigeria and its unity and togetherness.”

He noted that the NEF are in no position to undermine nor threaten to unseat the president.

The statement added, “We all know President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the February 2023 presidential election convincingly. So, who is the NEF to want to undermine the president’s victory and even threaten to unseat him?

“This same group of people have intentionally shied away from their responsibility of engendering unity in the North by appreciating the incremental development being brought to the North by ministers appointed by President Tinubu from the North, especially the North West.

“The NEF has not deemed it fit to seek an audience with Mr President to discuss issues affecting the Northern region despite the numerous challenges facing the North as rightly highlighted by the President and being addressed by him.

“The group has yet to visit any of the ministers dealing with issues of security, agriculture, water resources, police affairs, education, health, budget, foreign affairs, or any head of security agencies in the country so far for first-hand knowledge of government programmes and actions.

“The majority of them are more interested in faulting the government so as to be recognised or accorded some relevance. Our region, the North, is united, disciplined and politically driven enough not to listen and accept being teleguided by any group of elites who had fed fat in the past on the North’s resources and opportunities which had retarded development in the region and nation due to their selfishness.

“President Tinubu is poised to do a lot for the North as President of Nigeria, elected by the people of Nigeria, not by one ethnic group or the other, therefore, anyone mistakenly seeing President Tinubu as a failure or a weakling is making a mistake and should rethink.

“Such a person or group is either blind or misguided and unable to see the new Nigeria that is emerging. Therefore, the NEF’s statement allegedly expressing regret for voting for President Tinubu is unfortunate. NEF is not more than a group that has refused to accept reality and is living in delusion.

“The truth is that the North is proud of its support and vote for President Tinubu and will continue to be proud of her relationship with the President given the enormous change and development his government has brought to the region.”

Matawalle urged the NEF to prioritise unity and cooperation within the North to support Tinubu’s presidency and work towards a strong and prosperous future for Nigeria.

He encouraged the NEF members to reconsider their stance and focus on common goals rather than creating divisions within the region.

“My advice to NEF and others alike is to support the present government and join hands with President Tinubu in order to further move the country forward,” he concluded.

Politics / Hon Olawande Seeks Collaboration With Youth Ministry Commissioners Nationwide by isaajibola(m): 9:08pm On Feb 16
*Hon Olawande seeks partnership with Commissioners for Youth Ministries across the country*

_…Says collaboration guarantee effective replication of Federal Government initiatives on youths_

In a bid to cascade the renewed hope program of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on youth empowerment and skills development, the Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande hosted Commissioners of Youth Development across the country under the auspicies of the Commissioners of Youth Forum in Nigeria on Thursday.

Olawande explained that the need for commissioners to cooperate is in order to ensure seamless implementation of youth programmes and policies at the state and local government levels.

“The objective of the meeting is to have a strong collaboration with State Commissioners from the 36 states of the nation in order to guarantee effective replication of Federal Government initiatives and programmes aimed at addressing the challenges confronting youths in the nation”, The Minister said. He stressed the need to change the narrative through engagements with the youth from different states and provision of the enabling environment to make them productive.

He disclosed plans by the Federal Government of Nigeria to deliver at least two skills to every Nigerian youth with the plan to train over 7 million youth in the next 2 years, using the platform of the about-to-be launched Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA).

“In line with the renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President on access to capital, job creation, poverty reduction, food security, and inclusion, the Ministry is working with the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), a digital platform to educate, empower and elevate millions of Nigerian youths in areas of capacity building, entrepreneurial support, mentorship and much more”, the Minister said.

He added that the Government will train inmates on skills acquisition, adding that the current administration believes that this approach would guarantee the reduction in the number of repeat offenders and also enhance the reintegration of the inmates who are predominantly youths into the society.

Speaking further about other activities of the Ministry, the Minister observed that the “youth engagement activities which already commenced in Borno State will continue so that at every point, there is always a platform for youths to offer their ideas and make inputs into government policies and programmes.”

The Minister of State also disclosed that FGN is exploring the prospects of establishing a ‘Green House’ in each Local Government Area that will serve as a facility where unemployed young people at the Local Government level can go to access support and begin their journey towards a productive and gainful engagement.

The Ministry will partner with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Bank of Industry (BoI) and other Ministries, Department and Agencies to tackle the challenges confronting the youths.

“As the Minister of Youth Development, I am aware that Nigeria has a high population of youths who make critical contributions in the economic development of the nation.”

“In today’s dynamic world, the youths are the driving force in shaping the economic growth of any nation. Therefore, harnessing this energetic and vibrant youth demography has become imperative for the country’s progress and development.” Olawande stated.

He assured the Forum of the cooperation of the staff headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, who was present in the meeting.

The leader of the Forum of State Commissioners of Youth and Sports Development, Nigeria, Bashir Datti, who is also the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Plateau State assured the Minister that the Commissioners from various States are ready to collaborate and support the Federal Government to achieve these goals, adding that the youths have to be engaged to shun social vices.

Politics / A Remarkable New Year Celebration: Osagie Ize-iyamu's Unforgettable Gathering by isaajibola(m): 1:06pm On Jan 02
In the heart of Benin City, against the historical backdrop of Egedege'nokaro (First Storey building in Benin Kingdom - 1906), January 1, 2024, unfolded as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu—a true homeboy and a beacon of grassroots politics.

For many years, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has marked the beginning of the year with a cherished tradition of celebrating New Year's Day with family and friends at Egedege'nokaro. However, this year's celebration was nothing short of spectacular, setting a new standard for the festive occasion.

As the day commenced, the aura around Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu radiated a unique warmth that transcended political boundaries. Family, friends, the young, the elderly, and leaders from various political parties gathered to celebrate with a leader who embodies the essence of community connection.

Watching the festivities, I was captivated by the genuine sense of familiarity Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu shared with each guest. His deep-rooted knowledge of everyone went beyond mere recognition—he knew them by name, their stories, and their contributions to the community. The handshakes and pats on the back were not just formalities but expressions of love and mutual respect.

As the day unfolded, what stood out was the joyous navigation of his historical ancestral home by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his friends, who shared stories of how this edifice was when they hung out there as youths. POI's mother used to cook for them, allowing them to eat to their hearts' content. Amidst the lively atmosphere, he ensured everyone was welcome and well-catered for. The festivities were not just about politics but about sustaining age-long relationships, fostering connections, sharing laughter, and creating memories.

The celebration resonated with the rhythm of joy as women sang and danced, accompanied by the beats expertly curated by the DJ, who was on fleek. The youths revelled in the continuous flow of food and drinks, taking pictures and selfies with POI. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu moved effortlessly between the generations, creating an environment where everyone felt included and celebrated.

What struck me most was the magnetic energy that emanated from the celebration. The contagious laughter and cheerful conversations drew the attention of passersby, making it more than a gathering of family and friends—it was a community affair. The celebration at Egedege'nokaro symbolized unity and showcased the principal focus of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's leadership style— a genuine commitment to the people.

In an era where politics often feels distant, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's New Year celebration offered a refreshing perspective—an intimate gathering that reflected the essence of community and friendship. As we look ahead, this event leaves an enduring impression of a "HomeBoy" leader who understands the people and celebrates with them, bridging the gap between politics and the pulse of the community.

And, of course, I had a blast! 😜 😜💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

Politics / A Resounding Declaration: Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu Ignites Edo's Future With APC by isaajibola(m): 12:20pm On Dec 28, 2023
A Resounding Declaration: Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Ignites Edo's Future with APC

In a historic event today, December 27, 2023, the pulse of Edo State quickened as Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu declared his intent to run for governor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The atmosphere was nothing short of electric, with an unprecedented and exuberant turnout that mirrored the resounding desire of the Edo people for him to lead the state.

The streets buzzed with an undeniable excitement, a palpable energy that spoke volumes about the widespread anticipation for a visionary leader like Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The large turnout, a sea of faces reflecting diverse backgrounds, symbolized a collective yearning for positive change and transformative leadership.

Amidst this colossal gathering, it was evident that Edo residents see in Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a leader who transcends tribal and political divides. His appeal lies not only in the fact that he was born, raised and has spent his entire life living in Edo State but also in being a unifier, open to diverse ideas and a motivating force for positive governance for Edo and her people. The crowd's enthusiasm was not just about politics; it was a passionate endorsement of a man who respects traditional values, cherishes the wisdom of elders and embodies the hopes of Christians in government.

The excitement reached new heights as Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu met with the APC state executive members to communicate his intentions formally. The State Exco, deeply moved by his commitment and vision, was captivated by the fact that he was accompanied by his wife, family, friends, and an overwhelming tsunami of supporters. Their reception mirrored the collective astonishment and admiration for the unity displayed.

For the POI Media Team, we witnessed the birth of a movement, a groundswell of support that goes beyond politics—it's about believing in the potential for positive change that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu represents. Today's declaration wasn't just an announcement; it was a testament to the people's resounding call for him to guide Edo's future under the APC.

As the declaration unfolded, the impact was felt far beyond the political spectrum. Airport Road, a busy road in Benin City, stood still for hours, transforming into a carnival of jubilation. The outpouring of support overwhelmed the streets, signifying not just a political move but the birth of a movement. This groundswell transcends politics and symbolizes a collective belief in positive change.

The enthusiasm displayed today reinforces the notion that Edo residents are ready for a leader who can navigate the complexities of governance, instill hope and foster social justice. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's declaration has sparked a flame of optimism that will undoubtedly shape the narrative of Edo's political landscape.

In the days to come, as we reflect on this momentous declaration within the APC, one thing is clear—Edo has spoken. The people within the APC have roared, and their collective voice echoes the sentiment that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is not just a governorship candidate but a beacon of hope for the next chapter in Edo State's history.

Politics / I Lost More Than A Governor ~ Olawande by isaajibola(m): 5:39pm On Dec 27, 2023
A couple of hours ago, the bell tolled for a father figure, an adviser, a counselor, and guardian, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN).

Arakunrin was much more than the governor of my state. He was in the class of people who are very dear to me. He cared for me so deeply and took a special and unexplainable liking towards me. Even in the most challenging and difficult period, Arakunrin always expressed his concerns over my personal wellbeing, often wrapping such in jokes about me getting married. It is such a regret now that I would not have a chance to do that which he had often spoken about in his presence.

I have always held the belief that none of us stands alone in this world, and that the death of any of us affects all of us. Indeed, this is one death that affects me so significantly, especially considering the strength and courage I draw from the exemplary life of Arakunrin. This is why even in death, his legacy of principled politics and fight for justice, which he pursued through his practice of the law, and his commitment to defending the truth would remain a guiding compass throughout my public service life.

Today, we do not mourn Arakunrin; instead, we celebrate his life of achievement and impact. We celebrate the rich life of a man who showed us, through the force of his character, that fair and transparent success is possible. His life achievements, as Ondo State Attorney General, as president of the Nigerian Bar Association, and governor of Ondo state, were glaring testimonies to his well-charted life.

During this period, I stand in prayers with Mummy, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, and my dear brother and friend, Babajide Akeredolu. I pray God accepts Daddy's return, repose his beautiful soul, and watches over his legacy.

*Ayodele Olawande*
Minister of State for Youth Development

Politics / "Olawande's Drive & Leadership: Hope For Nigerian Youth Development" by isaajibola(m): 7:20pm On Dec 23, 2023
Olawande’s Passion, Focused Leadership Signal Better Days in Nigeria’s Youth Development Sector ~ Mohammed Abdullahi

Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande is not an easily predictable man. He is a politician who knows what to do to get into the hearts of the people, but one who also hates the attention and ovation such actions bring about. Hardly one given to too much talk, he believes actions and results should do the talking. His performance so far since his inauguration as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly portrays his true essence and establishes the compelling attributes that must have recommended him for the appointment in the first place.

Anyone conversant with what youth development entails would readily admit that such a role requires a full grasp of the intricacies in growing and developing the necessary connections young people require to take part in society and reach their fullest potentials. It is a critical sector that is essentially about offering young people a chance to make some worthwhile contributions to societal growth. For this to happen, a leader saddled with such an important responsibility must be able to connect with young people and inspire them to action. This is exactly the goal to which Hon. Olawande has committed to since assuming office.

Despite coming into office at the tail end of the budget year, the Minister has refused to be held back by the constant singsong of ‘no money’. He found a way to undertake the most critical aspect of his job, which entails reaching out and giving the youth a sense of connectedness, both to society and to others. He has visited four NYSC Camps (Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, FCT) to engage with young people on national service while also gracing many youth events in-between. What is more, his planned tour to engage with young people at the grassroots underscores a clear understanding that any well-structured and well-run youth development program must be one that promotes youth leadership by engaging the youth in needs assessment, planning and implementation.

Doubtless, there can be no better time in Nigeria’s youth development sector than now. The Minister is taking the Nigerian youth on a journey of leadership, leading with them every step of the way and evolving an opportunity for them to contribute to making decisions that impact their lives. With Olawande, the youths now have someone whose energy, youthfulness, and strength forbid him to sit back in Abuja and assume he knows what the youths across Nigeria need. This Minister wants to be able to hear directly from the youths, listen to their challenges firsthand and receive their own kind of solutions; which he can then factor into the mix of planned government interventions for youths. Olawande wants to run with, rather than for, the youths and ensure they have a voice in decisions and responses that are being planned on their behalf.

With engagement at the core of his leadership principle at the youth development ministry, Ayodele Olwande has clearly appealed to the yearnings of players and stakeholders in the youth development sector who, for long, have bemoaned the responses to youth issues owing to lack of inputs from the intended beneficiaries. With the Minister now taking a different trajectory and putting the youth at the center of all processes leading to the implementation of all youth-focused interventions and initiatives by the Tinubu administration, it is safe to say that better days surely lie ahead in Nigeria’s youth development sector.

Politics / I was just interviewed on TVC by isaajibola(m): 9:20am On Dec 05, 2023
I was just interviewed on TVC, where I proved behind any reasonable doubt that both @PeterObi and @SaharaReporters are liars. Anybody can register for #COP28 . And I registered for it while on air. The Nigerian government did not pay for 1411 delegates to attend as they claimed. Anybody who registers with a Nigerian passport is regarded as a delegate from Nigeria. But that does not automatically mean that they are representing the Nigerian government. Most Nigerian delegates were from the private sector. And you do not even have to be at the Dubai venue physically. You can register as a delegate to attend remotely from your country of residence. Please go to worldclimatesummit.org, and you can also register. Even if you hate Tinubu, don't destroy Nigeria's image with lies from Arise Peoples Party and Peter Obi.

Politics / Barr Uju, Women Affairs Minister, Emerges The Street Journal’s ‘super Minister’ by isaajibola(m): 9:13am On Nov 05, 2023
The Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has emerged the winner of the maiden edition of an online poll put together by an Ireland based newspaper, The Street Journal.
The award was formally presented to the Minister in her office by management of the media outfit led by the Publisher, Mogaji Bowale Arisekola who described the award as deserving especially in view of the landmark initiatives made by the Minister to promote the interest of women and vulnerable children since she assumed office in August this year.
Barr Uju came tops in the keenly contested poll, which had four other Ministers contending for the ‘Super Minister’ of the month award. She polled 190,848 votes (45.74%) to emerge the clear winner with Senator Dave Umahi, a former Governor of Ebonyi State now Minister for Works trailing closely behind by polling 171,137 votes (41.02%).
Other Ministers who were part of the poll are Dr Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation who came third. She polled 22,505 votes (5.39%) and was followed by the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Ojo who polled 21,204 votes (5.08%).
Reacting to the result of the poll, the publisher of The Street Journal newspaper, Mogaji Bowale Arisekola who stated that the exercise will be sustained, congratulated the Minister for emerging winner of the inaugural online poll which he said was put together as his own contribution to national development and as a means of spurring the Ministers to be outstanding in their duties and align with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition all sectors of the nation’s economy in the interest of all Nigerians.
In his words “The poll is credible, cannot be manipulated or influenced. The poll was designed in such a way that the votes counted, and one can see how the votes were cast. There was transparency and your emergence as winner cannot be far-fetched especially in view of some bold steps you took recently to fight the cause of women. Nigerians voted massively for you” he said.
Speaking further, he added “No doubt, Kennedy polled the highest number of votes for being the Minister with the most drive since President Bola Tinubu inaugurated his cabinet and for demonstrating exemplary dedication to the cause of women and the girl child by ensuring that the rights of women and children are not trampled on.
This can be seen in the way and manner she moved swiftly to tackle the case of the female one chance victim who wasn’t given prompt medical attention at the Maitama General Hospital, Abuja, leading to her death. She has also been seen to demonstrate humility and a listening ear while handling the recent sexual harassment case at the University of Calabar, two virtues that have become very rare among government officials. This and many more reasons, is why she emerged the winner of the poll” he concluded.
In her acceptance speech, Barr Uju thanked the organizers for the initiative of using the poll as yardstick to measure and engender service delivery among the serving Ministers and urged the media to partner with her Ministry in the on-going drive to change the status of Nigerian women and the vulnerable children  “ I want you to join us in the fight to ensure that majority of the funds that come from donors do not go into advocacy and travels but to make positive impact on those women and children they are meant for like 30%  and 70%  to advocacy and women respectively” she said.
She added that the award will only spur her to do more to justify the opportunity given to her by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to change the narrative concerning the present status of Nigerian women and vulnerable children.

Politics / Governor Hope Uzodimma Participates At The 14th Edition Of Herbfest by isaajibola(m): 10:57am On Oct 13, 2023
Participating in the 14th edition of Herbfest was a profound experience, as I witnessed the powerful fusion of tradition and modernity, celebrating our rich biodiversity and exploring new avenues for economic development.

The event, organised by Bioresources Development and Conservation Program (BDCP) in collaboration with the Imo State Government, aimed to shed light on the untapped potential of medicinal plants for our region hence the theme: Medicinal Plants for Economic Development.

The efficiency of herbal and alternative medicine has been adjudged, leaving no doubt that our ancestral wisdom could coexist with modern healthcare practices. It was a powerful reminder of our responsibility to conserve our environment and harness its potential to uplift our economy and the well-being of our people.

I commended the organizers of the festival, which underscored the importance of embracing our cultural heritage and leveraging our unique biodiversity to drive economic growth. Therefore, let us build a renewed commitment to promoting sustainable development, recognizing that our natural resources, when harnessed wisely, can benefit our state in countless ways.

Politics / Group Endorses RT. Hon Ahmed Idris Wase For 10th Assembly Speaker by isaajibola(m): 9:08pm On Apr 27, 2023
Our dear gentlemen of the press, fellow Nigerians good morning all.

We stand here before you today as members of the Wase Bogghom Development Association Jos Branch to brief you on our position and stand as a concerned association.

Our press briefing has been necessitated by recent political developments in the country and specifically on the zoning of the position of Speakership of the Federal House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly.

It is on record that the North Central Zone of this country has contributed immensely towards the victory of the APC at the just concluded polls, with our amiable Executive Governor His Excellency RT. Hon. Barrister Simon Bako Lalong serving as Campaign DG.
It is equally on record that the zone has never produced a speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.

On the strength of this and in the interest of justice and equity which APC has always been known for and demonstrated we are appealing to the leadership of the party (APC) and the authorities concerned to zone the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives to the North Central and *specifically* endorse the current Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon Ahmed Idris Wase for that position.

There is no gainsaying the seamless transition that would be afforded the party and nation at large with the emergence of Rt. Hon Ahmed Idris Wase as Speaker but we must also appreciate his qualities as an astute legislator and loyal party man with a high experience of legislative business.

Rt. Hon Ahmed Idris Wase began his legislative sojourn in 2007 as a Member representing Wase Federal Constituency under the ACN and was a pioneer House Member of APC post-merger. Since then he has been elected 5 times to represent his good people of Wase Federal Constituency, a testimony to his sterling leadership qualities and grassroots mobilization skills.

In the House of Representatives, business Hon Ahmed Wase was viewed by Pan Nigerians who looked and saw to his appointment as Chairman of the Federal Character Committee twice from 2011 - 2019. He was also the Deputy Majority Leader in the 8th Assembly and is currently the Deputy Speaker ECOWAS Parliament.
His legislative track records in Bills sponsoring and lobbying to influence projects and personal interventions are too numerous to mention here.

In June 2019 in the 9th Assembly Rt. Hon Ahmed Idris was a leading contender for the position of Speaker but as a faithful party man, he bowed to the wishes of his party and ensured the emergence of Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamilla as Speaker. It is in this light that we call on President Muhammadu Buhari, President-elect Ahmad Bola Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, and another party loyalist to endorse Hon Ahmed Wase for Speakership of the 10th Assembly.

We would also like to call on our brothers in the North Central Zone to support this national cause and personally enjoin our brothers on the Plateau regardless of party affiliation to support this endeavor.

We would hereby like to thank our President Muhammad Buhari, President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamilla, APC Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, Gov Simon Bako Lalong, APC Leadership, and the party faithful.

Thank you very much.
And
God bless you all.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Long live Plateau State.
