Fifa should have tested the popularity of this VAR stuff by allowing every country to vote on it at the General FIFA congress meeting before adopting. The reason why football is the most popular sport in the world is because it has human elements governing it's regulation and rules. If it becomes too computerized and mechanical it will become uninteresting and people will lose interest. It is not tennis or golf

The use of VAR should be reviewed and put to a vote after the world cup. If majority of the world Congress vote in favour of it's use then I guess we are stuck with it. I'm sure the Koreans, Australians would vote against it.

I say NO to VAR! Fu@& it! Unless it helps Nigeria of course. embarassed

That penalty awardedin the second half leading to Sweden's I-0 against South Korea. I know the VAR was used but I still say the Korean defender got the ball first but the Swedish attacker fell only because it was the penalty area.

The Korean dude got the ball! It's not his fault the Swede chose to not stay on his feet!

But the referee had no choice. undecided

Did you also notice the Koreans were on the counterattack and were about to score when the play was stopped?

You can see in the photo below. The referee saw the incident but did not stop play, despite Swedish player's simulation and scrunged up face! Play had turned around and was already at Korea box before referee stopped it when the Swedish coach was causing a commotion back in the technical area. Then VAR was used.

They are racists, corny, tricky and sneaky. Narcissism could be running in them.

Since she's already a "princess" she can go and contest for the rulership of her kingdom. undecided

No, you read up on authentic African history without religious-tainted eyes.

Colonialists of old saw homosexuality as a type of degeneration. Aka more characteristic of primitive races like negroes.

No, they did not! But you obviously do.

As for the coup, Kaduna Nzeogwu and his officers had very good and genuine reasons for carrying it out. Atleast they had the guts to do something cos the country wasn't gonna go anywhere, trust me it would not have gone anywhere with the way it was being run that much was obvious.

Really? They had a good reason to snuff out the life of public servants who were democratically elected by the people? They ever heard of a bloodless coup? You think civilians would have fought soldiers with guns? No, they were blood-thirsty. And ethnically motivated! Just look at that psychopath Nzeogwu grinning as he talked about cold-blooded murder as if he was taking about happy hour at the officers mess.

from the way you write, and construct your grammar, there is no iota of doubt in my mind that you are no Yoruba, all your past topic centralised of the Igbo ethnic group, you cannot be a Yoruba exhibiting this kind of hate.

He's not Yoruba!

Yorubas don't differentiate between SS, Delta, Southeast. All they know is that Benin/Bini are separate and everyone else over there in the East side are "Omo-Igbo" and the "Awusa" are in the north. Although sometimes you will find a Yoruba that will separate out the Calabar/Efik.

On his argument though, I agree the coup was devastating for Nigeria but I hold the coup-plotters responsible, not their region - wherever it may be. That coup led to tragedy upon tragedy. And we're still suffering the ramifications.

Wow I like that sense of motivation from Atiku, that's the spirit of a true leader. For some that can't have a decent discussion without insult I guess u know, insults weaken the intellectual capacity of an individual? According to Sanusi, when people lack what to say, they resort to insult

I agree he's got the right sentiment and he put some work into it, but he went too far. shocked

On a good day we can beat Portugal.

On a lucky day we might beat Germany.

On a day all the Gods smile on Nigeria we might be able to draw Brazil and make it on penalties.

But!

But But Butt! grin We can not beat Portugal, Brazil, then Germany right after the other. Impossicant. So Atiku just wasted his and our time, came off as desperate, lost credibility, and pissed off a lot of people in the process. wink

Since my DAD sat me down and told me how military GENERALS from the NORTH especially the MIDDLE BELT dealt with the Igbos, how our women were RAPED and Pregnancies Avulsed.......I have never being myself.

I nearly engulfed my SISTER who asked me to donate RELIEF ITEMS to the IDP camps.
I had to remind her to consult the gods of our forefathers for remission of sins as an atonement.
No matter the news I hear coming from there, my eyes will never shed blood. I simply FEEL NOTHING for them.
They should face the music.
GOWON and T.Y. DANJUMA should rush to their aid

Please, IGBOS stay completely out of this.
If you are interested in dishing out relief items, please send to other African Nations.
Thank You.

You should research what all sides did in places that they attacked. Ask what was done in Ore. Ask what happened in the Midwest. Type into Google "Biafra Nigeria war atrocities."

War is not good. Simple. Let's resolve to never support armed conflict in Nigeria ever again. The legacy is usually broken bodies and broken minds.

Back to world cup for me.

Roger3D:
Christians do kill and in fact the greatest murderers of all time have always claimed to be followers of christ. All murderers deserve to hang be they Christian or not

Correct! Black or white. Rich or Poor. Same punishment no matter who you are. You can not take a human life in cold blood. Or spread hate and incite the masses to physical violence against another people just because they're different from you! Whatthehell is wrong with Nigerians?! So much hate! Just look how 99 out of a hundred posters are hating on Super Eagles! Will every country get to the final? No! I wish I wasn't so attached to my ancestors so it would not be so hard giving up on Nigeria! Haba!

(P.S.: Granted the Nigerian government would have had more power and means of war at their disposal than the Biafrans. To the extent they committed atrocities against the rebels and treated civilians like combabatants, it should be revealed and they should be made to do whatever it takes to appease survivors. It's unfortunate that part of the legacies of colonisation is the adoption by African military of "western" style large-scale scorched earth policy and human rights abuses by their military.)

Who will arrest and jail Fulani killer herdsmen?

hisgrace090:
The untourchable Fulani's.
This people are setting a very wrong standard, when Fulani killed people nobody looks their way.

Malawian:
Fulani that isn't even indigenous to Nigeria, they came from nowhere and they have become the law in another man's land.

So it's okay to kill them?

How about Americans or Europeans start killing Africans since we're not indigenous to those places? Do you have family living anywhere besides their ancestral land?

Nigerians should stop this campaign of calumny against Northerners and Muslims. It's insanity! The same hate you spread to others can be spread to you and your children.

If you have evidence of a Fulani herdsmen committing murder, go to the authorities and commence investigation.

Stop telling villainous lies and sowing wickedness and injustice.

Turkey always had the medicine for Croatia. grin Croatia were already celebrating a win before a shock few seconds later. Lol.

One of the two most memorable games of Euro2008. Turkey came back to equalize at the point of death and defeated Croatia on penalties.

The Turkey goalkeeper had been brilliant until he was caught outside his box.

From The Guardian:

The final billing of a jam-packed day three. We’ve already had VAR-drama, own goals, preposterous goals and some dodgy goalkeeping. The events of 24 hours ago will take some beating but what exactly will tonight conjure up? One thing’s for sure, we will be able to feast our eyes on Nigeria’s extremely handsome and hipster-friendly kit, a strip that fed an Oxford Street frenzy and that has been allegedly ordered by three million people; it’s in action for the first time tonight in Kaliningrad. In Croatia, they face the seasoned dark horses of these tournaments, a team littered by a couple of wondrous talents, namely Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic. Up front, there’s an old-school bully, Mario Mandzukic.

The teams!
Croatia (4-2-3-1): Subasic; Vrsaljko, Lovren, Vida, Strinic; Rakitić, Modric; Perisic, Kramaric, Rebic; Mandzukic

Subs: Livakovic, Corluka, Kovacic, Brozovic, L Kalinic, Jedvaj, Bradaric, Caleta-Car, N Kalinic, Badelj, Pjaca, Pivaric

Nigeria (4-2-3-1): Uzoho; Idowu, Ekong, Balogun, Shehu; Ndidi, Etebo; Iwobi, Obi Mikel, Moses; Ighalo

Subs: Ezenwa, Echiejile, Musa, Nwankwo, Iheanacho, Obi, Akpeyi, Onazi, Ogu, Awaziem, Ebuehi, Omeruo

Referee: Sandro Ricci (Brazil)

Wow! Didn't pay much attention to Peru match. Just found out the son of legendary ManU goalkeeper was today's Denmark goalkeeper. Wonderful! cheesy
I remember the dad also making a ton of saves in another world cup 2 decades ago.

I had seen the son when he made his premiere league debut many years ago and he was brilliant! Yet so young. His father was in the crowd and it was nerve wracking for the dad. That club then sent him on loan to another club. I think it was Crystal Palace. Just recalling from memory.

I love the World Cup! cool
Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Croatia: FIFA 2018 World Cup - Saturday 16 June by isalegangan: 7:33pm On Jun 16, 2018
Why do the fans keep lambasting the team for posing and doing some sort of show in Russia when it's the Press and supporters that's covering them. We have a lot more social media and attention focused on them now. We're a big country of 180 million plus! That's not anything that they're doing.

The criticism is similar to what the England team went through in 2010. It was crazy. It was a lot of coverage about the WAGs but that was attention the players wives actively sought out and brought on themselves. At least Nigerian team, we don't have their wives in the spotlight trying to get in the Daily Mail or such nonsense.

They're just trying to play ball. undecided
