Lordsagna: congratulations sir, can you share your experience as a pre clinical student? your best moments, your challenges and how you over come and scale through the big three. Best moments; the Day i saw my name on the board, pass, pass and pass. Challenges; corona break almost took me offguard buh i stood my ground, i didnt travel back...throughout the time, baba was with his lantern, texts and a lighter beside for the times i got bored. The Big three as you said demands your all, three wives that i paid equal attention to, Anatomy sometimes seems jealous as it tends to drag more of your attention, you are a man, stand your ground. Final advice.. Consistency, consistency, Consistency. Read like your life depends on it. If theres anyone that book ever killed, i should be the first.. Buh then, i am still breathing as i type. Shalom. |

proffmykey: To say truth i find it difficult to start a conversation with females but i am a type of guy that play with females alot;i look for their trouble since i can't really start conversation with them so with time we will connect and the conversations will come from nowhere...I find it childish looking for female trouble growing up so i began to ask my experienced friends on how to converse with a lady, with that i learnt some things and also i go to google always to search on how to converse with a lady and it really help...Now i can start a conversation with a lady anytime, anyday but sometimes my introverted nature pulls me back not to converse with some ladies not that i don't know what to say...If you can practice what i did,it would really help. Wow, i'll need us to be friends please. I need to learn... How about whatsapp? |

proffmykey: Thanks OP...I am an introvert also but one thing is that i am free and outspoken with the right people,i.e.people i am use to;you can't say i am an introvert among my people but the problem is that i don't talk to strangers;it hard for me to make friends with people i don't know or have something that will bring us together unless something or a situation prompt our friendship,i find it difficult to make friends but i observed that such attitude help me in selecting good friends and not random friends......Also being an introvert makes it difficult to talk to girls but it has being diminishing to great length because i have some close female friends and also i have never be in a relationship. Guy, you just spoke about my life. |

Wow!! This thread is really old!! Now i immagine people that passed through here when they were 18, 19 and are now practising in their 40s and 60s even before i got in in 2017.
3yrs after, i see people still studying for jamb, same route i took, same fear, same depression (pass jamb, fail post utme, write another year, pass jamb, pass post utme, do not meet cutoff, write another year, low jamb, pass post utme, given another course, write another year) years and years past, until you get in not knowing there is a greater deal ahead called MB which you won't meet until u've spent additional 3yrs after getting in...and if You fail, you start afresh from jamb.
Indeed, Medicine is deep, it is a Trap!!! You sell your ur mind, social life and happiness. Don't go into it if you don't have passion for it.
When you pass MB, the happiness you get Automatically Erase all ur pains in seconds...you become bold, proud, confident. all three in one person. Your joy and fulfilment will become a thing forever...you will be respected all the days of your life.
If only you are strong enough to cross to the other side of life, then..take a walk through medicine. Medicine is for the bold. It is spiritual. All hail any practising doctor. Special salute to UNN graduates...you guys went through a lot.

Does red blood cell really need energy to drive its process? If yes, where does it get it from? If it is from HMP shunt pathway, i saw a text that said HMP shunt does not generate energy, how then does redblood cell get its energy?
2) if a diabetic patient metabolise fructose faster than glucose due to fructose metabolism pathway bypassing the insulin dependent enzyme found in glycolysis, therefore; fructokinase instead of hexokinase, also, bypassing phosphofructokinase to produce glyceraldehyde3phosphate using aldolaseB and triose kinase enzyme, how then is the glyceraldehyde3phosphate produced in the fructose metabolism which enters glycolysis able to bypass insulin dependent pyruvate kinase?
3) since anearobic glycolysis occur in redblood cell, what oxidizes the oxidative phase of HMP shunt pathway?
# it is open, i'll sincerly apreciate your contribution. |

TONYE001: 1. Ignore all the stories you've heard about it. Write your own story.
2. What is expected of you is the basics. You can be pardoned for not knowing highfalooting stuffs but the basics? Not likely.
3. Know your normal CHO metabolism plus the various connections between the pathways. Rate limiting points and enzymes extremely important. Ignore chemical structures of those molecules, just know the basics like glucose, fructose, etc.
4. There are some pathways that are constant questions anywhere, irrespective of the school. Eg, urea cycle. Identify regular pathways that turn up in exams and know them.
5. You may not be asked to write long pathways. Rather, they'd synthesize questions from the pathways and their medical application (especially). But whenever you come across a short pathway, KNOW IT! it's a likely exam question.
6. KNOW YOUR STORAGE DISEASES.
7. Most importantly, start early.
I know I've missed thousands of more important points but the above would get you going, at least. My chiefs would add up when they see your post.
Good luck. Thanks a thousand timesss. This is huge an advice. |
