PoliticsRe: Niger Delta Is Not With Biafra Dokubo Can Give Up Rivers by iSlayer: 7:08pm On Feb 10, 2017
dragonking2:
You think your language unified all igbos, sorry to burst your bubble but it isn't true. I will break it down for you.

Let me give you practical examples: I have stayed with igbos and their major divisive problem is that of supremacy over another that's why you will always see an Anambra man claiming Lord over an imo man or anambra vs abia...It is so bad that even the people from ebonyi are seen as the slaves or should I say underdogs of igboland.. #fact.. I have witnessed several arguments amongst igbos from different states on this..

A perfect example of the high rate of division amongst igbos can even be sighted on Nairaland..See Here:

https://www.nairaland.com/3409397/imo-vs-anambra-which-more

https://www.nairaland.com/2745212/anambra-never-point-been-economic

Even Ojuku, the greatest igboman that ever lived, according to you guys contested for a political position and lost..why? His fellow igbos brothers preferred to vote for either a northerner or even a westerner than their very own. This show the high level of division amongst igbos.

Now, do you know that there are several other tribes in the north apart from Hausa and fulani? Will you say because of the different languages in the north they are not unified? We know the answer.
The people of the south south region have an understanding similar to the people of the north despite the number of tribes there..so speaking the same language doesn't necessarily mean you are united.

If a candidate from cross rivers state e.g Donald duke wants to contest the presidential election do you think the average delta man won't come out to vote for him? Of course we will en masse. This further buttress the point that the people of Niger delta are very united. Igbos should focus on getting that unity instead of looking for who to join biafra by force.

The picture below explains better the high level of disunity amongst igbos
Mere skirmishes between unfortunate fellows cannot and will never be equated to Igbo disunity by a sane balanced mind. Your argument is very cliche and also very weak. In a gathering of erudites you'd be floored innumerably if you venture to present that as a point.

Fo heaven's sake, what the hell is "igboid"?? Let those "igboid" tribes speak for themselves, not you. And pls forget about that boast of seizing territories in the SS. Who's going to do that? You pro-biafrans? Pls don't make me laugh. Apparently you've not learnt from history at all. During the civil war Niger Delta territories under Biafran occupation were promptly recaptured compared to the bloody battles in the main Igbo heartland. Ever thought why that happened? You really think SS states will simply fold their arms and watch you folks try to steal their lands? If so, then you obviously don't know much about the tribes within that region. If you folks think you're crazy, bros we're way worse. So chill.

Instead of people to relax for a result that will negate the claim some useless backward cretins are here pouring vituperations. Tufia!!!! God has turned his back on some people! CultureRe: Learn To Speak Ikwerre by iSlayer: 4:45pm On Feb 08, 2017
ChinenyeN:
In truth, Khalilah, given enough time, you shouldn't have any problems switching from the standardized Igbo to Ikwerre, because Ikwerre shares the same fundamental language structure as that of standardized Igbo.

So, here's what I would recommend in your particular case. Since you're coming from zero background, and learning resources are scarce for Ikwerre, I would say learn the language fundamental structure from Igbo as well as sound pronunciation (the basic vowel and consonant sounds are the same for Igbo and Ikwerre). Then, transition to Ikwerre bit by bit by switching out standardized words and syntax for more Ikwerre-like constructions.

I recommend you use these two sites for reference between Ikwerre and Igbo.

Igbo - https://www.bible.com/bible/77/mat.1

General Ikwerre - http://ebible.org/ikwNT/MAT01.htm

*note: The Igbo in that link is not the current, modern standard Igbo, but it is enough that it will do, and it is the the best, freely and readily available reference I could get that is comparable to the Ikwerre link.

Alternatively, if you've got access to any one of his family members, you might be able to get them to help you by going over basic sentence construction in their own dialect of Ikwerre. You can then use the reference link above to help you learn more Ikwerre words expressions.
Better.

I remember a long while ago on NL, someone came asking for Ika/Ukwuani lessons. Someone suggested that they learn Igbo. Igbo people annoy me sometimes with responses like these. Igbo people... the same ones who refuse to bolster the "Igbo language", but yet insist that their dialects take second place to a static and artificial speech form.

If someone wants to learn Ikwere and you do not know of any resources for them, then leave it be. Learning "Igbo" is not equivalent to learning Ikwere. The same goes for each and every indigenous Igbo speech form.

Asari Dokubo or whatever has not been elected as the voice of Niger Delta on the issue of Biafra so his opinions are strictly just that- HIS opinions and nothing else! Niger Delta especially Rivers state is not part of Biafra and never will be. Biafra already has component states such as Enugu, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi and Anambra. He is a self proclaimed Igbo man and so has the right to pursue Igbo agenda for himself and his family but not for Niger Delta.

ChinenyeN:
Odumchi and I were having a casual conversation between ourselves, and in your mind that qualifies as an attempt to foist Ngwa upon you on this thread? Is this seriously your mentality?

Sigh... I would say that you entirely misread the entire thing, but that may just fall on deaf ears.

If your love for Igbo is that intense that you would so choose to be offended by the casual banter between Odumchi and I, then so be it. As it so happens though, you are right in that I am not at all impressed by Igbo bu Igbo, and as such I don't share your propensity to take offense. Perhaps your problem isn't with Ngwa, or even Odumchi and I having a casual conversation (because I find it difficult to conceive of you taking this same stance with two people casually speaking in one Anambra dialect or two people casually going at it in Abiriba, etc.). Perhaps it is me, personally, that you might likely have in issue with.

Whether you consciously realize it or not, you and I are essentially at odds in ideology. You believe so much in your Igbo bu Igbo (very very strongly, as you claimed), and you realize that I don't share that zeal in any way. Perhaps you're too concerned with my not playing well with other Igbo that you simply interpret my action to be an affront to you and your Igbo beliefs, and as such take offense even when you needn't. Now, before you or anyone else asserts that I am deviating or derailing, it should be made known that I only entertained this thought process because you, iSlayer, by your hand, have realigned the focus of our discussion from speaking with dialects to addressing me and the fact that I don't buy into Igbo bu Igbo the way you do. Also, it is because I simply cannot conceive of you taking offense (offense of all things) with others the way you seemingly have taken offense with me.

Perhaps, that might be where this is coming from, whether consciously or subconsciously. I cannot claim to be in your head. Neither am I claiming this thought process to be an indisputable truth. I simply thought I'd bring it to your attention seeing as to how you, perhaps unknowingly, realigned the focus of our discussion.

So, a casual conversation for me becomes interpreted as an attempt to hoist Ngwa for you, and as such you have taken offense. Perhaps that is what is happening right now. Or perhaps I'm simply outright wrong. Either way, I take nothing back. I enjoyed my casual banter with Odumchi, and if the opportunity presented itself (be it with Odumchi or anyone else), I'd do it again, because I see nothing wrong in doing so.

I guess that's enough writing on the subject for me.
1) I do not have anything against you.

2) I've told you before that you can do whatever you want. It's all good.

On a more serious note, I hear you, iSlayer. I get your point, but I simply won't concede to it, because I believe it is utterly childish that Igbo people, after opening their mouths to spew that "Igbo bu Igbo" jargon, will use those same mouths and say that they are offended (offended.. just imagine) when dialects are spoken, no matter the time and place.
@FirstBolded - We know the fact you don't play well with fellow Igbo here. We also know your don't buy into the general one Igbo tag,you subtly advance this notion of a dinstinct Ngwa people. I see this occasionally among the Ngwa people. Whatever your qualms are,no one can tell. Honestly,I don't see it being anything sensible. No offence.

@SecondBolded - Wrong. Igbo is a language, however there are dialects. You may not really be impressed or believe in the whole Igbo bu Igbo thing but I do. Very very strongly too. So I appreciate every dialect, from Ogbuinike to Abakaliki,Ohafia to Ngwa and even Ikwerre but on this thread you got it wrong and you know it. I can quote a post here from an Nsukka girl who asked you and Odumch! to shift to Izugbe but you simply shrugged her off,for you she didn't exist, you were totally lost in your effort to foist Ngwa on us and on the thread. Smh* That and many of your comments here betray your dissatisfaction with whatever bugs you. As I said before, feel free to continue on that path you're on. It's all good.
