HopeAtHand: if you are a careful observer, you will notice that Riverians(or more specifically Ikwerres) are uninterested in Biafra. Your IPOB is merely forcing yourselves to be relevant in Rivers. Your rallies and protest are usually made possible only through the importation of your members from neighnouring Abia, Imo and Anambra as Riverians do not care about your Biafra and largely consider your cause an unneccesary and a huge source of nuisance.
If Rivers people were IPOB members and were shot by security forces in PH for doing a peaceful protest, Hell would have been unleashed by now. I partly agree with you though there's no way to definitely determine there were no Ikwerre in those protests. However, this is a huge step in the right direction. Gradually, the gospel will spread. More inaugurations loading. |

Boleyndynasty2: Sir now i know you're just out for trouble with the Anambra people, I would've loved Obiano to ignore Rochas but I believe he really needs someone to talk to so he stops living under the delusion that he's the best thing that ever happened to Igbos. From the way you're talking I think you're worst than those Anambra people you called out. I wonder how a skirmish between two politicians is biting the boy like this. He must have been coming second to an Anambrarian since he was born. |

Other governors responded politely, only the clown from anambra who has ego problem will respond arrogantly. [/s] You're not a nwafor. Go and check well. |

[s] betterABIAstate: Though we all know Rochas is a bad governor and he has since denied the people of IMO good governance but he never mentioned the name of the governors that will defect to APC. While other governors exempted themselves politely, that of anambra chose to portray the act of arrogance that has long been known with anambra people. They even went as far a saying okorocha begged an anambra person for election fund, please, we All know okorocha has been one of the richest in Nigeria even before he became the governor of IMO state.
Anambra government should drop their arrogance and play the silent game, it just reflect what we see everyday on nairaland about anambrarians, always showing reckless arrogance and tending to reply any shitty statement.
Okorocha has succeeded in bringing anambra down to his level, you shouldn't have responded arrogantly or should I say like mberi secondary school football players. [/s] I thought this guy was matured. Such a disappointment. |

bigfrancis21: I spent 5 years in Nsukka, funny enough I didn't find the dialect too hard to understand. As a fresh person to the Nsukka area in 2007, my comprehension ability was at about 75% to 80%. Also, the Nsukka dialect spoken in the township tends to be less 'concentrated' or a lil centralized compared to the dialects of the interior, this I guess is due to the presence and convergence of other Igbo speakers in the town.
Someone once said here before, as a nwafor born and bred in the east, you'd be able to understand, at least, other Igbo dialects to a satisfactory extent. He may be right. I'll have to concur with that. On many occasions, dialects I found difficult with my comprehension as low as 30% was still somewhat clear to my uncles and aunts. It was and is still a mystery how they understand what is being said. |

owobokiri: Obiano actually needs somebody to pinch his ballooning ego by telling him the blunt truth straight to his funny face. As dangerous as Okorocha has become to igbo interests, the truth remains that Obiano is a distraction the igbo can do without and you bemused lot from Anambra should stop making this an Imo vs Anambra affair, Imo people have no interests in that childish quarrel... That Arrogant Obiano is the reason the governors don't meet anymore because he doesn't want to meet Rochas who campaigned against him during the Anambra governorship elections. Somebody should tell him that It is politics, he should get over it! There is no major achievement to his name apart from the bridges to now-where that he is building endlessly in his village. Peter Obi and Ngige actually covered a lot of space for him otherwise wind for don blow for him nyansh. Obiano should stop acting like an "adamma masquered". There is Nothing special with his style of governing.. Bruh... 1) If you can't agree Obiano has been by far the best performing governor in the SE then don't bother typing at all. Just move along to avoid typing thrash. 2) If you know nothing of Anambra 's transformation under Obiano, which has left states like Imo in the dust. Don't type out of envy, just move along. 3) That Rochas has dragged Imo state backward with unfinished and substandard projects is not the fault of ndi Anambra. Direct your frustrations to Owelle. 4) You should come to terms that under Rochas,Imo has lost that glory it used to have as a foremost eastern state. In summary, you wrote nonsense. |

Probz: As the title says, what's the most urban-sounding/upmarket vs. the most unrefined, rural-sounding dialect in your native tongue?
For me, Igbo - Onitsha (classiest), Nsukka/Ebonyi (bushiest). I no sabi which one is bushier between the Izzi-Ezza cluster of Ebonyi and the Waawa of rural Enugu. They both sound horrible and both are equally unintelligible to mainstream Igboland. For me,I think Nsukka always gets the hard end in issues like this. Their dialect is miles ahead of what you get in Ebonyi(Abakiliki). Then again some dialects in Southern Igboland make me go like...

ChinenyeN: So, "Igbo" people can now get offended when "Igbo" people speak "Igbo" language nowadays? Or is it because it is "weird" Ngwa and not "sweet sweet" Anambra that people will now become offended? Are we no longer "Igbo" people anymore speaking "Igbo" language? Abeg. Just continue enjoying the thread. Someone writing in Ngwa should never be reason enough for you or anyone else to turn sour unless you have some sort of internal issue with Ngwa. My brother,I was only watering it down. It's infact very OFFENSIVE to go exclusively Ngwa on a thread where the whole Igbo are supposed to be feel welcome. It is totally insensitive to do that. There was even a girl asking that you both revert to Izugbe but all to no avail. What message are you trying to pass across? Your last statement and you calling your own dialect "weird" smacks of victim mentality. I love and respect Igbo but going all Ngwa (knowing others cannot follow) is not the best, you're simply trying to play out fellow Igbo with some imagined advantage |

[s] coolscott: You don't understand. GEJ is not their kinsman. If he really was igbo, don't you know the things they would have done would have been extreme?
In the first place, all over Nigeria, from the north to the south, we would never stop hearing them tell the rest of us how they are better and smarter than us all. Their story would be that they are so smart that they are ruling us in our own country.
Their ego's craving to be associated with power (the presidency ) is so ravenous that they made every possible and imaginable case for the idea that the ijaw riverine people of the south south are somehow one with them, a people they have always accused of being saboteurs for supporting the Nigerian army during the Biafran war, and a people who they have had a derogatory name for for generations.
GEJ was their man just as much as much as Donald Trump is their man who will take actions to ensure the emergence of Biafra during his time as president. [/s] What you don't know is that your stupidity is rubbing off every Ijaw person out there. Thumbs up bro, you're a great ambassador. |

[s] davereal: GREED AND THE IGBO MAN: The Prospect of Life in an Independent Biafra.
In September 2010, I began my first journey into the Eastlands. I was happy for exploring a part of Nigeria but was afraid too for venturing into the "lions den". Yes! Lions den, because that was Onitsha especially counting years backward. The tick forest, green grass and fresh air was just WOW as we descended the slope of 9th Mile. Then I saw pretty fair ladies/girls rushing to our bus shouting gala gala, lacasera, lacasera, hmmm...I thought: these beautiful girls are hawking? Where I come from they are " big girls" looking for the next aristo. I remember telling a co commuter that "I love the business prowess of the Igbo nation". But.... As we drive into Onitsha around 8pm, everywhere looked like a war zone, everyone was in a haste, I became more inquisitive, and they said there is a curfew by 8pm because of rampant crimes ranging from killings, robbery, kidnappings etc: then my fear increased to 70%.
Now here is the main reason for this long epistle: The Igbo man is naturally hardworking, business oriented, independent, intelligent, diplomatic there by making the Igbo Nation economically viable. But... My experience that night while boarding a bus from Opi Iweka to Madonna(Okija) confirmed the stereotype that the Igbo man is Greedy, Exploitative, Over-Ambitious, Naive and can go any length to make money irrespective of humanity or moral standard. Some even said " The Igbo man is the number one enemy of his brother". Now this was what happened that night: There came two old women begging the driver to accept their less transport fees, but the he refused. They rushed to the other bus, same fate. They rushed to another again, same fate. They now returned to the first bus and started pleading earnestly. To my surprise the conductors threw their bags out and maltreated these women. Nobody could bail them out. An act that is rampant and normal UP-NORTH: home of hospitality. I recalled this incidence because of what I just read online about the current exploitation of Igbo commuters by Igbo transport companies. Onitsha to Lagos 13,000-15000. People had to donates for one particular man to pay for his four children (13k each) after he cried before the manager who refused to heed to his tears. So I begin to wonder how an independent BIAFRA will fare. One Igbo guy said "Biafra will be a hell for the poor...they will roast us with high prices of everything". As hard as it is, I think he is right. Life is expensive in the East mostly because of " Igbotic Greed". There is high distrust among the Igbo Nation, and until they fight that, my lovely BIAFRA will forever be a mirage. #Peace #GiveusBiafraorwedie #Reality
