The police have been repeatedly said to be your friend and the Army your brother, i know a curious mind may wish to ask : " how friendly are they" i will not attempt an answer to that question today but if you doubt this assertion kindly make a trip to Nigeria or maybe, you may wish to spare your precious time to watch the video attached to this piece. Sometimes I wonder whether these institutions are above the extant laws of the land and their enabling Statutes and do they ever think of the image they are painting Nigeria with especially to the international communities. Have we returned to Thomas Hobbes state of nature where brutality was the order of the day? Why are the men that are fed fat from our taxes becoming a source of our day and nightmares? Sadly, this is our story as a country and this is our daily agony. No one should tell me that he is fighting corruption when the security institutions are classic and perfect examples of the definition of corruption in the country. Let no man sale this tale of lies to me that we are still practising democracy when transparency of government's policies have been jettisoned and a bygone. I think I still need to be sponsored to programs and symposiums so I could be further assured that we are still practising democracy in the face of freedom of speech and expression of thoughts being raped and stripped bare at the instance of the hate speeches. I think I still need to be educated on the version of our democracy where as a citizen i am still being deprived of my right to know the amount of taxpayers money expended on Mr president's health. These basic information and others are shrouded with mysteries and guided jealousy as a newly wedded groom guiding the steps, route and calls of his slay queen . Yet ,being reminded daily that ours is democracy which must be guided jealousy. All these anomalies has reduced and relegated the once giant of Africa to background of scorn and bespattered the face of Nigeria's government with the paint brush of shame. I pray my children do not come to guide this 'our democracy' without question like we do today. God have mercy on Nigeria. SOURCE: https://ndifrekesblog..com Workers in Russia are being taught how to smile in a bid to be more welcoming to tourists during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off tomorrow. According to the BBC, Russians do not smile as much as other Europeans. An article in The Atlantic attempts to explain why when it loosely translates a Russian proverb: "Laughing for no reason is a sign of stupidity." However, there's now a reason to smile as Russian news agency Tass claims that 1.5 million foreign tourists are expected in Russia during the World Cup. To prepare for all the tourists, workers in key companies like FIFA, Russian Railways, and Moscow Metro are all undergoing unique training. The BBC says the world governing body for football and the two Russian transport firms are teaching staff how to smile. The report says that "Russian train conductors are being taught how to smile at foreigners," in an effort to tackle the stereotype that its people are unfriendly. Rihanna dragged Snapchat online, following a distateful ad featuring herself and ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown. The ad reads: “Would you rather Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown”? Many found it very offensive as it referenced the former couple’s domestic violence incidence. Taking to Instagram yesterday, the amous Barbados singer reacted to the controversial ad, saying they were bringing shame to all domestic violence victims and joking about it while stating that she had thrown the whole app away. Her words: “Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But i’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims (Domestic Violence victims) and made a joke of it!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them… but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yey… you let us down! Shame on you.. Thrown the whole app-oligy away. READ FULL POST HERE https://primeratimes..com.ng/2018/03/rihanna-calls-out-snapchat-over-abusive.html

Serving an international customer is no longer as difficult as it used to be. According to one study, 82 percent of shoppers made at least one purchase from an international merchant in a calendar year -- despite the fact that only 1 percent of small businesses in the U.S. export goods overseas. But filling the occasional overseas order isn't the same as having a truly international presence. Expanding to a new market requires boots on the ground to ensure you understand the unique nature of consumption patterns, marketing strategies and business laws. Here are some lessons and strategies you can adopt from Stolpner's and Pollard's considerable experience. Research your target market. This is perhaps the most important step in the process. Researching the local market will help you understand whether it's a good idea to enter a specific country. Strategic research on the potential customer base and current market conditions is just the beginning. Stolpner recommends you ask two important questions: What kind of local adjustments will you need to make (and what will they take)? Are there any local legal limitations to your product or business model? The answers can make or break your decision to move forward with the expansion. User-behavior research also can provide useful insights that influence your strategies. Pollard, for instance, points out that Expedia didn’t enter the Japanese market until much later, due to the way Japanese plan their travel and the expectations they bring to a tour. Hire the right people. While you don’t necessarily need a local office in every country you operate in, it is important to hire local employees who also can speak your language. Stolpner says it's especially crucial to hire a local employee for every new target market. This person should have a deep understanding of the culture and market so she or he quickly can identify product tweaks or customer-experience aspects that must adjust for the environment. If you cannot hire a local employee for a one-time project, Stolpner advises you should -- at the very least -- find a local consultant who can ensure you don't overlook anything significant. Local marketing is everything. Successful expansion depends on nailing a local-marketing strategy. Stolpner believes international SEO is extremely vital to international expansion. He stresses the importance of choosing correct hreflang tags, URL and domain structure from the get-go. These are critical not only from the SEO perspective but also to hit your branding and business goals over the long run. Stolpner considers the right hreflang tags the very beginning of international SEO for new, local websites. He urges that all other marketing efforts must follow to rank well in these fresh markets. Your local employees can help advise your marketing strategies, informing you of cultural differences that will inform how you approach the market -- and through which medium. Through technology, our world has become progressively more interconnected, and has created the potential for hundreds of different business ideas. Being a successful entrepreneur today is all about generating multiple sources of income. The title “serial entrepreneur” is tossed around with ease because the internet has created an avenue through which we can find endless ways to make a living. Those who diversify their revenue streams will help ensure their chances of success without necessarily overburdening themselves. Through technology, our world has become progressively more interconnected, and has created the potential for hundreds of different business ideas. That said, here are five business ideas that you can launch from your living room. Online language tutor Services such as Skype that offer free face-to-face communication instantaneously with anyone in the world have created a market for online language tutors. There are countless startups that offer language lessons by matching native speakers to eager learners. Most of these sites don’t require you to speak the language of your pupils. Join one of these sites and teach for a few months. This will allow you to build experience and credibility as a teacher. Then break off from your matching agency and start your own private lessons. This will allow you to set your own schedule and price! Start a blog The most important rule when starting a new blog is to pick a niche subject that attracts a good readership. If you are a decent writer, this shouldn’t be too hard, and you can also enlist one of the countless copywriters out there to write your content for you (for pretty cheap!). Once you fill your blog with quality content that attracts a solid following, there are many “affiliate marketing” programs where companies like Amazon and Google will pay you to promote their products or services. This idea may take a bit of an initial investment -- especially if you are paying a writer. However, once it gets going, it begins to pay for itself and will only grow from there. Become a translator If you are fluent in another language, it is easy to connect with firms that are looking for professionals to translate documents and audio for their businesses. Most of these businesses have employees that learned the language in school, but the companies want someone with cultural knowledge as well as fantastic language skills. The more obscure the language is, the more you get paid! Source: https://primeratimes..com.ng/2018/03/amazing-business-ideas-you-can-launch.html

Futurists of the 1950s and '60s predicted that by the 2000s, flying cars and airborne robots would be a part of our everyday lives. Instead, we live in a world dominated by live streaming, smartphones and social networks. While those forecasters didn't quite get the timing right, they got the technology right. Today, we are at the brink of another technological boom. This time, technologies like self-driving vehicles and robot assistants are under development. Soon, these and the other exciting technologies described below will go mainstream, changing the world in the process. 1. Voice assistants In four years, the majority of American households are expected to own a voice assistant device like an Amazon Echo or an Apple Homepod. Thanks to the power of artificial intelligence (AI), voice assistants will grow increasingly helpful. Even today, Amazon releases regular updates to Echo in order to help owners get more from the technology. The company recently reported seeing larger-than-expected gains from its voice assistant, which is why Amazon is now doubling down on the technology. Voice assistants are making a significant impact in markets across the globe, and some observers expect that in the future we will communicate with technology through voice rather than text. 2. Robot assistants Companies like Boston Dynamics have already developed a wide variety of robot assistants that can be used in factories or on the battlefield. The company originally started as an arm of MIT and has since pioneered the development of intelligent robots that operate effectively in the real world. Knightscope is another company working on a line of robot assistants for security applications. For example, its K5 robot features four cameras and can recognize 300 licenses plates per minute, per camera. It can also detect suspicious networks that may be operated by hackers. 3. Regenerative medicine Though it may sound like science fiction, doctors are already producing made-to-order body parts. To get started, doctors scrape cells off the body part in question and grow them in a petri dish. In time, the body part grows strong enough that it can be implanted inside the patient. One company, Organovo, has developed a printer capable of 3D printing body parts. In time, this new technology will become increasingly mainstream, providing patients with lifesaving organ replacements. My name is Monica and this is my story. It all started on a Sunday evening, I felt so big because I cannot lower my standards to start talking to some dead girls. I mean I’m a big girl, I should be found with bigger girls and bigger boys. Anyways that’s aside. My roommates were not around so I decided to start tweeting. I didn’t really have anything to tweet, I went through peoples tweet so i started stealing people’s tweets. Most of my followers were retweetting it because it was really making sense. My roommates got back but I ignored them because I was really having fun on twitter. Around 1:00 am I got a DM from a guy, I almost ignored it but I checked it. It was just ‘hi’ from a guy. I checked his avi, OMG this guy is so handsome and on point plus he has over 5000 followers. Definitely, he must be a big boy and he should have cash, this attracted me to him and we started chatting; in my mind I have found new maga. He introduced himself and told me he is loving my tweets because they really inspire him. I told him they were all my thoughts. He must have believed me because the next thing I knew he started telling me his life story. He told me how his girl friend broke his heart and all, he said he loved the girl so much and gave her everything she wanted; he gave her an I phone 4 and also got her a diamond ring he proposed to her with. All this got me thinking of when I would be getting my own diamond ring. Since he got her an Iphone 4 I might get the new iPhone7! Finally, someone to change my blackberry bold1. He also mentioned giving her the key to his house in Lekki when he was travelling to America to see his parents. My eyes were wide opened that was how I knew that YES this guy is perfectly boxed up. I wasn’t going to let him think I was the broke one, so I started forming for him too. I lied to him about how rich my parents were . I started consoling him and telling him that not all girls are the same. Not because I pity him but common this guy is young and rich and this kind of fresh fish cannot slip away from my hand NO! When he called me, I spoke with a black American accent I learned from watching TV. Soon we started planning our first meeting. He asked me for how much I needed. I replied. No thanks, I don’t need your money. He sensed I was being modest and he asked me if 100 thousand naira will be adding that he would give it to me when I come over. I had to look good to impress this guy, my broke a-s had only two thousand naira. I went ahead to buy a Brazilian weave on credit. I also borrowed thirty five thousand naira from a friend. I made a good meal. I got new clothes and other stuffs. Nneka had warned me not to come back to school if I didn’t get her money. We met. While he drove me to the undisclosed place, I talked and laughed at his dry jokes. We got to lekki he stopped by one of the houses, he said he wanted to get something from his friend. Immediately he left, his phone rang but I didn’t pick up, the fourth time the person called I picked up and the person said “I get your message say you don pick the girl, abeg wait for me before you start to dey knack am because I wan knack am too. We go do a before you ask for her ATM card and pin oo. Since you talk say na rich girl, he mean say she go get correct money. No f--k up oo before she go no say you be broke guy, continue to dey form fonee u hear, helooo, hello, hello”. I took my things, entered the next cab I saw………. Haaaaa BAD MARKET. Wat will I tell Nneka!!! Source: https://thedaree..com.ng/2017/07/dairies-unilag-babes-twitter-love-story.html |

It is not an exaggeration to say today that the provision and the availability of a square meal for many families in Nigeria today is a rare occurrence and mostly unthinkable and if it happens, may attract testimonies in the church, mosque or shrine as the case may be. Hunger is chiding all and sundry in the land only sparing the ruling class. Poverty is really ravaging. The millennium development and sustainable development’s goals of availability of food for all has been subjected to mockery. I sense an aggressive return in a no distant time, of the kwashiorkor sickness that heralded the civil war era especially in the then south Eastern states, as a result of lack of food and good nutrition. Today I read on the social media a directive by the Government of Akwa Ibom State that sellers of staple food items should reduce their high, exotic and exploitative prices fixed on the products in the market or face sanction. I really appreciate the effort of the government for firstly coming to terms with the reality that the prices of the stable food is extremely exorbitant today as some stable foods like garri is currently being sold at about one hundred naira per cup. This exorbitant price of most commodities has affected most families to the extent that they cannot afford their purchase any longer and starvation becomes unavoidable and imperative. This make me wish daily for the return of the good old days when as a little boy I used to buy eighteen cups of garri for one hundred naira. Yet, my mother will still complain, chiding me that I have allowed myself to have been cheated of two cups. that certainly appears as a mere and vain wish which will likely yield no positive result in the nearest future, thus, We must Stand up and face the present reality. Having commended effort of government for not showing schizophrenic attributes in this regard to the staring fact that there is serious hunger and famine in the land such as could be compared to the biblical Egyptian days of famine that forced the Israelites to migrate to Egypt, the government should be mindful of the economic principle or the market forces of demand and supply which is the ultimate determinant of market prices of goods in her course of addressing the cause of the public hysteria. Many conscientious efforts should be made in this regard by the government to ameliorate the hardship of the people by donating and/or subsidising stable foods through its various ministries like Agriculture or Welfare. Martin Luther King is credited to have said: “we must learn to live together as brothers or we perish together as fools”. If this advice is interpreted in line with the present state of hardship and hunger, wisdom will demand that the victims of hunger should be given attention if we have a sincere desire to preserve our present population in view of the upcoming census. Historical analysis of event and causes of crime lay credence to an existence of a relationship between proportionality of crime rate and hunger. Nigeria is a democratic state with a democratic principle of one man one vote which has been acclaimed meaningless except same is being accompanied by the principle of one man one bread.
