Business / Re: Why Are Major Oil Companies In Nigeria Controlled By Yorubas And Hausas? by istev(m): 3:38pm On May 15, 2007
Guys!

Please let's get clear headed!!
Some of the things I've seen written here shows that there is big perception problem in Nigeria.
And its seriously affecting the way we think. When will we start seeing that Oil is not the only thing
Nigeria can offer? Why must we always start and stop with crude oil?
Why must this issue about Oil degenarate to this level? (Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa and all this nonsense, )
France today makes more money from tourism than Nigeria makes from crude oil, India makes more money
from outsourcing than Nigeria makes from oil. Yet we have potentails in this county that can match and surpass this.
When will we start thinking this way? Besides, Nigeria today is one of the few countries with the largest amount
of different solid minerals in commercial quantity most of which remained untapped and unexplored.
We are clearly not thinking better than this guys kidanpping foreigners in the Niger Delta creeks.
It is sad but  we Nigerian youths are graudaully sinking into a dangerous abyss, our minds are  beign
conditioned  to  close to all our potentials.
I think we on Nairaland will do better if we concentrate our collective energy on reversing this trend rather than
be a part of it.
Politics / Re: Breaking News: Lagos House Impeach Pedro by istev(m): 1:21pm On May 11, 2007
I followed with growing incredulity   the whole impeachment drama in Lagos State. Now we all know what stuff  "true democrats" are made of.  We now know political officers can get impeached even when they have resigned. The question I've been asking myself since it started is what value is this adding to Lagos or  its people?
The whole "show" is nothing but a flagrant display of misplaced priorities. It serves only to rub the cheap ego of the initiators and  it is an unnecessary irritation  that Lagosians would prefer to be spared. It only goes to underline the fears already been raised that Mr Fashola -the new man  will have to be reporting to uncle Bola to make decisions or even express his opinion on issues. That is if he doesn't want to get impeached the "lawmakers".
I hope EFCC will make good their promise and put those who should be in jail there. We don't need 'an Adedibu ' in Lagos (even if this one has gone to school).
