Burping should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes. I think Alphahandmaden has given you different styles. Is the baby on formula? You could try a different brand or even soy.
only on breastmilk

Okay.
I wanted to be sure you know how to do it.

Burp in between feeds, don't wait till she's done eating. Also no shaking her or rattling her when burping.
Try and be still, place her on your shoulder and gently rub her down.
ok ma. Thanks

like the other mama said, try to burp him in between meals I understand what u are going through because my son was like too between 1 to 3months,he had colic, so most time when he crys I tend to feed him, so as to comfort him, which leads to overfeeding and he will later vomit some of the excess food.i always burp him after each feeds, because if I don't burp him and put him down immediately his food will come out back , sometimes self through the nose which is not good. As soon as he clock 3 month ,he outgrown it, by himself no treatment, he feeds only when is hungry, he does not trow up again ,I don't burp again. he belge himself sometimes .dnt worry ur baby will soon outgrow it. just make sure u burp him regularly
Thanks ma. This is helpful cos people said i might be overfeeding her. Like she throws up d excess.

I had similar experience last Monday. Whenever, I feed him no matter how many minutes I spent burping, he will still regurgitate through the nose and mouth. But on Monday, it went straight back into his lungs. And he pooped and became still. I ran to the hospital with only pant and a wrapper. After observing him ( he came around before I got to the hospital he was on my chest all through and i was rubbing his back. But struggling to breathe.) for about 45 mins they changed their mind about admitting him and placed him on antibiotics because of the food debris that went to his lungs. And advised that I go to the teaching hospital for professional advice on how to care for such situations.
I decided to see my office doctor who is a GP at the teaching hospital. Below are his recommendations:
1. Always burp him after or in between feeding.
2. Always back him to maintain an erect position.
3. When he lies down ensure you raise his head more than his body.
4.Always lie him on the left side in case there is another crises the food will not go back to the lungs because the lungs is on the right side.
5. If the incident reoccur again, pat the baby on the back 3 times. It will send out the debris blocking the windpipe and if there is no response or the baby's hands and feet are Blue run to the hospital.
Meanwhile, he checked if the baby is Blue by closing all window and when the room is dark he used a white light. Torch to check if the baby is Blue. He also checked if there is a hole in the roof of his mouth. Finally, he prescribed flagyl instead of the antibiotic prescribed in the hospital.
Since then, I have noticed a great improvement. I don't burp for long minutes before he belches. Secondly the rate of his nasal regurgitation has reduced and the croaky sound he makes while breathing is gone. Above all measures PRAY. We shall not cast our young ones in Jesus name.
Thanks so much for this great info. This was exactly what happened to her. D doc just burped her and she regained consciousness. But she throws up alot and d pediatric doc said she's healthy 2 them and don't know d reason 4 throwing up. I was referred 2 a gastropediatric and my appointment is on Monday. I would av uses d flagl 4 her but I'm not in Nigeria.

AlphaHandMaiden:
Yes you should burp your Baby after every feed especially in the early months.
You can also pause her feeds and take her off the breast to burp and then continue. That will reduce the milk pouring out of her mouth as you have described.

There are different styles of burping and some are more effective than others depending on who is doing it.

See below for 3 different methods. Try each one and see which one works best for you.
Thanks so much ma. I usually burp her now 4 about 45 mins but he still throws up alot
HealthRe: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Itanna: 9:36pm On Mar 01, 2018
Hello mothers. I'm a first time mum. My daughter is just a month old but whenever i breastfeed her, She pours immediately. Also, must u burp him after every meal?cos if i don't burp her after meal and put her to bed, she feels very uncomfortable. He even fainted when he was about 3 weeks cos i think d milk didn't digest which went d wrong way. I rushed him 2 d hospital and doctor just burped him and he was awake immediately. So doctor said i should always burp him after meal. Its kind of stressful to me cos i burp him 4 a minimum of 45mins to 1hr per meal which made her to be used to hand. Thanks
TravelRe: Italian Student Visa-help! by Itanna: 7:44pm On Jun 07, 2017
newacca:
Like I said earlier, it all depends on your proposed education expenses. For instance if you are going to a private university that charges tuition fee of about €15,000 p/a your account balance as a self sponsor, your account balance might be expected to be heavier than a sponsored student who is attending a government university of €2000 tuition fee p/a.

It boils down to your expenses (tuition + living). I will suggest you calculate your tuition + living + travel expenses for a year, deduct it from the balance on the account you will be presenting; you are expected to still have substantial amount in the account after these expenses have been deducted. It won't be a bad idea if you still have 2M in the account after the expenses have been deducted. (Whether you are being sponsored or a self sponsor )
Thank u.

I don't know if 3M will be sufficient. Though I had beyond 3M in my account when I applied, but I think financial capability will be tested based on factors like: sponsorship(ownership of the account; whether you are being sponsored or self-sponsor , overall expenses per year (tuition + living) etc.
Thanks. Ok self sponsor needs less money than being sponsored?
