oneolajire:Candidly, we may not (not cannot) be able to compete favourably with entrepreneurs in developed countries due to infrastructural inadequacy. |
sunny442:Though the suits are currently imported, I intend to integrate backward by taking charge of production and also have the biggest suit factory in West Africa. The business kicked off last June and the vision was drafted to guide my business decisions. BTW, I only shared 2 or 3 missions as the first one is strategic and better off undisclosed on here

Entrepreneurship is not only about invention but creating opportunities for yourself, taking risks and managing your time for no one but yourself. I did not invent how to make suits or other corporate wears but I run a fashion outlet. Not being an inventor does not disqualify me even though I strive to strategically add my creative ability to give my brand a unique identity. Not all inventors are entrepreneurs and not all entrepreneurs are inventors. Let me rent a space for my business eFyer here. M o d, please no vex ![]() |
When decisions are premised solely on profitability, the outcome may be disastrous. In the dynamic business environment of the 21st century, it takes more than profit to achieve going concern. Profit is not enough and indeed competitors are not always right. |

The LGs would need funds to be operational, effective and efficient. Any plan on generating more revenue within the State without running to Aso rock needlessly for bailout? |

Chanda Kochhar, managing director and chief executive officer, ICICI Bank, explained this could be extended for more than one year based on the requirements of the employee. This initiative allows women employees to have access to their required operating systems in a safe and secure manner, creating a seamless office-like environment. The technology platform for this programme has been developed in-house by ICICI Bank in partnership with students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. To ensure that data security and privacy are upheld, facial recognition technology would be used to scan the face to ascertain there no intruder accesses the office system. Women in all roles, except those in direct customer-facing ones, would be eligible for this initiative based on their life stage needs. These would include young mothers, expectant mothers, those suffering from medical conditions among others. Kochhar said the aim was to give a stronger support system to manage the challenge. The bank has also launched an initiative which aids women managers who travel on business, by covering the travel and stay of young children and their caregivers. This would ensure that when a young mother of a child up to three years travels for an official purpose on an overnight trip, the child is also allowed to travel with her. Kochhar said under the iWork@home pilot, a total of 50 women have been made part of this system and they have received more than 100 requests for this. “Women who would have otherwise quit due to maternity, childcare or other reasons are now requesting for this option so that they can continue to work with the bank from home and are also progressing at the same pace in their career as other colleagues,” she added. The bank, which has about 30 per cent women in its overall workforce, has also seen an increase in productivity where women have been enabled to work from home. Under this programme, which was launched a few weeks back, employees are carrying out multiple tasks which include checking documents for loan disbursement, image-based verification of cheques for clearance and processing of export-import documents for payments, among others. ICICI Bank has also introduced new benefits under its “Advantage Woman Savings Account”. These include unlimited free ATM usage at all banks, cash back subject to a maximum of Rs 750 per month on usage of debit card at departmental stores; it also provides 30 per cent discount on first-year locker rentals. http://www.business-standard.com/article/finance/icici-bank-to-let-women-work-from-home-for-a-year-116030700528_1.html |

a case of putting a square peg in a round hole For a while, I have intended to write an open letter to address the lacuna in NYSC scheme but being so busy putting structure to my business. It is so appalling that the scheme has become a shadow of itself. As an outfall of the civil war, graduates were supposed to serve the nation but what do we have? they are instead used to enrich some unscrupulous Citizens and non-citizens. From personal research, I uncovered that most of the schools (privately owned) do not employ qualified teachers instead opt for corpers paying them peanut who they also change annually upon passing out thereby saving their running/operational cost. This is clear case of exploitation and abuse of the scheme which has indirectly denied the qualified teachers the opportunity to practice their profession. If NYSC must continue, it should be optional. Since the objective is to foster the love and unity washed away by the civil war by unifying a cross section of Nigerians from all regions under a roof/State. Orientation camp is enough to achieve that. Many made contacts across the tribes which they would treasure for years. We don't need a whole year to meet people and know them. Instead Orientation camp should be increased to 4weeks after which corpers get their certificate and move on. Enough of PPA that adds little or no value to the nation and corpers but instead the business owners. I understand that some corpers get retain but sincerely, what percentage of corpers get retained by reasonable and good companies? The monthly stipends being paid by the Federal government is next to nothing when compared to the cost of livingl; instead a one off lump-sum payment of 237,600NGN (19,800 x 12) at the end of the proposed one month camping period would help make more entrepreneurs and increase the nation's GDP. Whoever decided to go clubbing with the funds is free to do so. Wasting people's 365days in the name of fostering unity and inter-tribal relationships is a waste of life The topic on how NYSC officers are being enriched through the procurement of orientation materials (kits, food etc) is for another day. Lalasticlala, Mynd44, kindly do the needful What is your take on the NYSC scheme? |
