Foreign AffairsShould A Soldier Pretend To Be Dead In A Hot Battle? by ItuExchange(op): 9:41pm On Sep 20, 2016
How common is it for soldiers to pretend to be dead during a battle?

This most certainly happened in WW2 and many other wars.

In WW1 there were cases where soldiers were stranded after a failed assault and played dead until it was safe to move back to friendly lines.

There's another well-documented incident in which an American paratrooper on D-Day was stuck on the steeple of a church while para dropping. He played dead while other Americans around him were shot by the Germans as they landed.

Another good documentation of this is in a book called Russia's Heroes 1941-1945. In it is a story of , a Ukrainian sniper on the Crimean battlefield. She decided to conceal herself in a tree. After two sniper bullets nearly killed her she decided to ‘fall’ and play dead.

The story then goes that she unexpectedly caught sight of her opponent, fired, and killed him. When she made her way over to her target a small notebook was found that indicated the German had killed more than 400 French and British soldiers in Western Europe. In 1943 she claimed to have killed 309 enemy soldiers.

In the Pacific region during WW2 it was extremely common for Japanese soldiers to play dead. Often American soldiers and marines would organize “possum squad” to shoot the ‘dead’ Japanese in the head. This can be seen in the Eugene Sledge interview. This is also mentioned in the book “Semper Fi, Mac.”

When thinking about doing this there are a few things to remember. The first is if you suddenly drop down ‘dead’ while your comrades are fighting you will not be looked on to favorably. You will likely be outcasted and be treated as a coward. Fighting by a a mans side creates a strong bond.

The next point is this would only be a last ditch resort. Even if you played dead there is no certainty you would be able to get to safe lines when ‘revived’. In addition to this by the time you realise there is a bullet headed for you, it is likely too late to choose this option. If a solider is playing dead there is no guarantee the enemy will believe your ‘death’. Often soldiers shot and stabbed corpses to make sure they were truly dead, similar to the American ‘possum’ squads.

The final point is it actually against the Geneva Convention, as it gives an unfair advantage. I believe this is only the case for occurrences such as the Japanese in the Pacific to prevent large scale attacks. There were likely many situations where soldiers would do this for survival, but few would have been documented. In the end war is about surviving.

BusinessSo, Neteller Is Also Available In Naira (NGN)! by ItuExchange(op): 10:40pm On Sep 19, 2016
I regret to say that many people are yet to grasp the usefulness of Neteller. They’re attracted to anonymous and unregulated e-currencies because they’re great for criminal activities. People can open accounts with them using fake names, addresses, etc.

People obviously have forgotten to learn from the past.

As per Neteller, I often marvel at the usefulness of this e-currency, which many people are yet to understand.

Neteller is an electronic currency for online payments (e-currencies are exchanged on computers). Money in a Neteller account can be used to pay merchants, sent to other customers of the service, or spent at any retailer that accepts MasterCard® using the Neteller prepaid card that is a part of the account. People in over 200 countries use the Neteller service to transfer money to and from merchants, such as financial institutions, social networks, or online betting firms, and can withdraw funds directly using the Net+ card or transfer the balance to their own bank accounts. You can receive salaries and payments for services in Neteller. You can use your local currency to buy Neteller for your account or change Neteller in your account to your local currency or transfer it directly to your bank account.

Yes you can sell it if your account is denominated in other currency apart from USD. The remittance would get to the recipient’s USD account automatically. When you buy it, you are funded in a world currency, and Neteller will settle you in your account denomination automatically. But a conversion fee of 3.99% will be applied by Neteller. Please note this. You can also have your Neteller in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and use it to receive any currency and send to any currency.

As you can see, someone once sent some funds to an account denominated in Australian dollars. If you want dollars, euro, pound sterling, yen, naira and so on. You can open a Neteller account in that denomination and have it funded by an exchanger which would send dollars to it and have it converted automatically for you.

One good thing about it is that, the fund can then be withdrawn by you to your domiciliary account here in Nigeria or to your debit Net-Card, given to you by Neteller. You can use it anywhere in the world and for anybody in the world.

A Great Example
When it comes to Naira, someone received some Euros from Europe into her Neteller NGN account, and saw that it has been changed to 36,000 NGN. She sent it to an exchanger who saw 108 USD in his wallet. The woman was quickly paid a sum of 40,200 NGN for the sale.

As you can see, the woman has made additional 4,200 NGN from her simple action, since Neteller uses official conversion rates.

A word is enough for the wise…

Jimoh Ibrahim is a lawyer, politician, businessman, and philanthropist in Nigeria. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of Global Fleet Group, a diversified conglomerate based in Nigeria, with business interests and subsidiaries in neighboring West African. – Wikipedia

He’s identified many problems with Ondo State, and numerous potentials the State has. He’s promised to solve these problems and make Ondo State a debt-free state.

Given his current achievements, having proven himself, do you think Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim can deliver? Do you think he can fulfill his promises?

Do you think he’s the potential and capacity to win a gubernatorial election in Ondo State?

Do people like Jimoh Ibrahim?

Christianity EtcIs It True That Humans Used To Live Longer In Ancient Times? by ItuExchange(op): 10:32pm On Sep 18, 2016
My background is in biology so I know that the human life expectancy has increased in the recent centuries due to healthcare. A friend who’s a history major doesn’t believe that and claims that humans used to live 100+.

Is this accurate?

If not how can I prove him wrong with historical evidence?

People certainly lived longer than we give them credit for. There are lots of examples of people who were older than we thought. I hate when I hear someone say that you’d die at 35 in the middle ages. Didn’t happen, at least, it wasn’t entirely normal. Like here, meet my buddy.

This guy is known as Towton 16, because he was the sixteenth body removed from the hole they found him in. At Towton. (funny the logic of that)

Towton 16 was probably in his late 50’s to early 60’s and felt spry enough to fight in one of the larger battles in English history. And it seems that he was fleeing (most likely fought for Lancaster) when he was killed. As he and the others were some distance from the sight of the battle, we can guess he was pretty healthy. He at least kept up with a 24 and a 15 year old.

But that said, to a hundred? No, it wasn’t very common. Seventy, and Eighty happened. Ninety was a rarity. And it would have been very very rare that anyone reached a hundred.

It seems sometimes, that part of this comes from the Bible. One of the things that people don’t often realize about the Bible, is that the way they recorded the Torah we get the Old Testament from had a tendency to add extra zeroes at the end of numbers.

This is also part of the problem we get with some of the crazy army numbers in the OT. Especially since when vowels were removed (a first century AD decision among the jews) ‘Thousand’ and ‘professional’ become the same set of consonants. So like at the burning of Gad, KJV will tell you that 400,000 soldiers burned that town. (That’s a lot) But it might have been 400 professional soldiers. And it could have even been 40 professionals.

Yay for bad number keeping.

Tl;Dr. No, people lived till their sixties and seventies. And bible recorded numbers weird. as did most of history.

EducationAre “ember” Months Really Significant? by ItuExchange(op): 8:45am On Sep 18, 2016
“Mass stupidity is nothing new. Just because everyone else is acting like an ass doesn’t mean that you have to.” – Louise Bedford

“Ember” months, which Yorubas call, Osu ba ba ba, are here again. This is because the months (September, October, November and December) end in “ber”

Most people think these months are riskier and full of more evil than the rest of the months, i.e. January to August. This can’t be farther from the truth.

The last major earthquake in Haiti didn’t happen in an “ember” month. The last major earthquake in Japan didn’t happen in an “ember” month. Boko Haram and ISIS didn’t kill people only in ember months.

Lassa and Ebola didn’t happen only in “ember” months. 40 million people died this year, before September 2016. Close to 900,000 died of motor accidents this year, before September.

If you remember, June 2016 was one of the deadliest months this year, and it isn’t an “ember” months. Ember months is a myth, fueled by superstition and folly.

When someone dies in January or March or July, people think it’s normal. When someone dies in November, they think it’s abnormal because the year is going to an end and people must see it thru. They’ve forgotten that someone who shouts “Happy New Year,” can die in January and February or March. It doesn’t make any difference.

One thanks God because one sees a New Year, but the reality is that, it’s only not time for one to die. When the time comes, it doesn’t matter the time of the year it’s. I know those who used to give thanks for being alive, but they’re now dead.

The masses are moronic, they become crazy in ember months, running a rat race to make money for December celebrations and taking things serious as if they don’t happen in other months of the year. They go into debt and start a New Year in misery.

Anyone taking one month as being more important than the other is not in their right mind.

InvestmentHave You Ever Come Across A Completely Honest Person? by ItuExchange(op): 12:39am On Sep 18, 2016
What did you see someone do which made you think he/she was honest?

There's a five dollar note pinned to the noticeboard at work. It had been there for more than a month now, with a note saying “our lovely cleaner found this outside the men’s toilets. Is it yours?”

At the end of the first day, someone wrote at the bottom, “no. I think our lovely cleaner should take it.” At the end of the first week, I spoke to the cleaner and told him he should take it, since no-one had claimed it and he had been the one who found it.

He demurred. I pointed out (perhaps gauchely) that everyone else is paid more than him, so he had more need of it. Still he declined to take it. The five dollar note is still there.

CrimeDo Professional Assassins Really Exist? by ItuExchange(op): 9:38am On Sep 17, 2016
Do hitmen really exist in America or just in the movies?

I ask because I recently saw the movie “ Collateral” with Tom Cruise. It is a very fun movie, but was not sure how realistic it was.

Hitmen are mostly average looking people, otherwise they couldn’t blend in the crowd before and after the job is done.

And there's nothing sexy, cool or glamorous about their job, they might make good money for what they do, but chances are, they don’t live in luxurious mansions and have private jets and personal assistants. They live normal and lower-than-average lives, so no one suspects of them, specially FBI, police, Interpol, etc.

Also, basically any crackhead living near your house can become a hitman if your just pay them money or drugs for killing someone.

Yes, they exist. After I retired from my real job, I sold dirt for a Builder in the form of houses to be built. Our closing attorney was awesome and cool, or so we thought, until he was arrested for hiring a hitman to kill his wife. Even really smart people can be dumb, I guess. No, not guess, I know.

NB: If your spouse is murdered, or if someone attempted to murder the spouse, then you, as the other spouse, did it. I don’t care if you didn’t do it, you still DID IT, as you will be the #1 suspect. Don’t kill or try to kill your spouse, you won’t get away with it.

CareerThe Most Important Career Advice I Ever Got (confidential) by ItuExchange(op): 9:51pm On Sep 15, 2016
Originally I was going to make this a post about habits I’ve developed.

You know, “habits to be the amazing, successful person that I am.”

But I realized I don’t really have that many good habits. And I’m not sure I’m worth emulating.

There is only one super important habit that stands above all the rest:

But first I’m going to leave you with this cliffhanger…..

The most important thing you can do is find someone good to spend your life with.
This is the only career advice.

And if you can’t find one person, then only spend time with people you can learn from. A person who inspires you to be a better person.

I ask myself when I am with someone, “Does this person inspire me to be a better person.”

Some people might be good, but just not good for you. So it’s a relative thing.

Whenever I follow this rule, my life gets exponentially better very quickly.

Whenever I don’t follow it, I know one of two things will happen:

I will end up dead or I will end up in jail.

I have ended up trying to kill myself. And I have ended up being picked up by police. So I know this much to be true.

If I am not with one person but “looking” then I try to learn at least one thing from each person I am around. The one takeaway.

If you can’t get one takeaway then you wasted one night of your life.
Which is not really so horrible either. I don’t want to judge.
Forget business jargon. Forget habits. Forget 10x thinking. Forget goals and minimum viable businesses. Forget “goal-stacking.”
Forget: “jump starting” and “e-myths” and “learn this.”

Dream of the right person to be with. Be with that person. Be good to them. Stay as long as it’s worth it.

CareerHow To Self-publish A Bestseller: Publishing 3.0 (confidential) by ItuExchange(op): 6:24am On Sep 15, 2016
My most recent book, “Choose Yourself!” sold 53,000 copies since it’s release on June 3 [update 2016 – over 500,000 copies], hit the Wall Street Journal Bestseller list, was No. 1 on Amazon for all non-fiction books for a few days and is still flirting with No. 1 in its various categories.

This post is about what I did differently, why I did it differently, and how I think anyone can do this to self-publish a bestseller. I describe all the numbers, who I hired and why, and how I made the various choices I did.

I strongly believe everyone reading this blog has the content inside of them to write a book. If you want to stand out in a world of content, you need to underline your expertise. Publishing a book is not just putting your thoughts on a blog post. It’s an event. It shows your best curated thoughts and it shows customers, clients, investors, friends and lovers what the most important things on your mind are right now.

Unfortunately, most people suck at it. I’ve largely sucked at it. I’ve published 11 books — five with traditional publishers and six that are self-published.

I’ve written before about publishing and self-publishing. But mostly it’s been how I lost money on every book I’ve written. This is the first time I can say I’ve published a good selling book and here is what I did.

Please read more at: http://www.jamesaltucher.com/2013/07/how-to-self-publish-bestseller/

Technology MarketDo Your Parents Understand Technology? by ItuExchange(op): 10:09pm On Sep 13, 2016
What were some funny instances where your parents didn't understand technology?

Few weeks back my father phoned me up in a panic that their internet is broken and that he couldn't open any websites. After a lengthy phone-call asking him to check a bunch of things and hearing him growing increasingly upset, I decided it would probably be better just to drive over there and see what's wrong. When I get to his computer he worryingly points to the desktop - 'See? The internet is gone!' Hang on, I thought, what do you mean by 'gone'?

It turns out the technician who installed their router had renamed the browser’s desktop shortcut to 'The Internet', and my dad had accidentally deleted the shortcut. So I just restored the shortcut and of course everything was right as rain. He still thinks I did something magical to fix his internet though I couldn't help but chuckle about it for the rest of the day.

Nairaland GeneralWhat’s Your Biggest Regret In Life? by ItuExchange(op): 7:18am On Sep 13, 2016
What is your one regret in life?

When I was a child, 3rd grade to be specific, I found a caterpillar in my garden.

I instantly remembered one of my friends saying “Lock a caterpillar in a match box, it will turn into a butterfly after a week”.

I loved butterflies. So I ran into my kitchen to find a match box. Found one. There were only two match sticks, threw them away and went to my garden running. Somehow managed to put that caterpillar in that matchbox.

I made two small holes on the either sides so that there’ll be some air. Placed the matchbox in a cool and dry place.

2 days passed, I couldn’t stand my curiosity, opened the matchbox to see the progress.

I FOUND IT DEAD.

I cried a lot but that caterpillar I had killed unintentionally never came back to life.

All I had in my mind was REGRET.

I eventually learned not to believe anyone blindly. This incident laid a foundation.

HealthWhat Do You Do To Stay Young? by ItuExchange(op): 1:15pm On Sep 12, 2016
How do you stay young?

A friend shared this with me few days ago and I'd like to share with you too:
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being, she said, "Hi, handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children, and then retire and travel." "No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age." I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk non-stop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed she cleared her throat and began:

"We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success."
"You have to laugh and find humor every day."

"You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!"
"There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old.

If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change."

"Have no regrets. The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."
She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the years end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY, GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.
Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

CelebritiesHas Anyone Had An Encounter With A Ghost In Real Life? by ItuExchange(op): 9:59pm On Sep 11, 2016
NB: Many modern people no longer believe in ghosts.

As a child, I loved listening to ghost stories told by my grandparents and other elders. Even if I was scared, I used to stay awake late night just to experience any ghost sightings but never actually saw anything unnatural. As I grew up, I turned into a non-believer of ghosts and someone who would never get frightened of being alone, in dark or watch/hear anything scary. Then one incident changed me!

This happened when I was around 17 years old. I had gone for a vacation at my maternal uncle's place which in Gujarat. He had moved into better (bigger) railway quarters (residence for employees working in Railways). We had travelled a lot in the day time from Mumbai to Vadodara and reached his place around 10 PM at night. There was a balcony starting from entrance of the home. It had a bathroom and toilet at the left side and living room and bed rooms on right side. Similar to the below arrangement so, from Living room, we could easily see the balcony.

Post-dinner we were just relaxing and watching TV in the living room. After some time, I saw some white misty apparition running in the balcony toward the bathroom. I first thought I was hallucinating because I was tired of the day's travel. But this happened 2 to 3 times more. I told my uncle and he said that it must be some pigeons which have their nests above the balcony. But I was sure they were not pigeons! I slept ignoring it.

The next day, I completely forgot about the incident and started doing my morning chores. I went to the bathroom to take a bath. The moment I entered the bathroom, I started shivering due to fear and was constantly feeling that something bad was around. I came out of the bathroom as soon as I could and told my uncle and mom. They again consoled me saying there was nothing to be worried about, etc. Me, being a bold and un-fearful girl, my mom sensed something wrong.

Throughout my 5 day stay there, these things continued... Seeing apparitions near the balcony and shivering inside the bathroom. I was also getting scared around other places in his house. One such place was the bookshelf inside the bedroom where I always got scared like crazy. I was unsure why it was happening with me! The questions were still unanswered for 2 years.

After 2 years, my uncle shifted to another place. After meeting him, he said that the house was haunted and a lot of bad things happened there in their 2 years of stay, so eventually they had to leave it.

Apparently, the real story was, few years back, a girl staying in the house had committed suicide. She had set herself on fire near the bookshelf in bedroom she ran from the balcony to bathroom, but eventually died inside the bathroom.

After hearing this, I was totally freaked out! My uncle said that he did not want to spoil my stay there, so he had not told me that time.

PoliticsHow Would You Solve Nigeria’s Power Problems Finally? by ItuExchange(op): 7:37am On Sep 11, 2016
How Would You Solve Nigeria’s Power Issues Once And For All?

If you were President Buhari, what would you do to solve Nigeria power supply problems once and for all? Because it majority of those who criticize the government don’t realize the enormous difficulties of this task.

There are too many criticisms out there without solutions?

Political candidates would blame the incumbent office executives and senators so that they can win votes. But once they get to office, they perform exactly poorly or (worse). This has been said of president Buhari.

It’s extremely easy to criticize… But when it comes to action, most critics fail.

Now, if you were president Buhari, what would you do to solve power generation problems once and for all? I understand that the power section has been privatized, but the government still has lots of power to turn things around. Just like CBN has lots of power to turn things around for better or for worse, for banking sector.

What is your suggestion? What could you do as president to solve this power problem forever, and make history and break a record?

FoodWhat Is The Strangest Combination Of Two Foods You’ve Ever Eaten? by ItuExchange(op): 10:03pm On Sep 10, 2016
My parents are Chinese immigrants, so they’re not very familiar with American food. My dad made me weird things for lunch, like

Peanut butter and jelly AND

Ham and cheese

In the SAME sandwich, held together by two pieces of whole wheat bread. I kept forgetting to tell him to separate them out, so I ate this for lunch at school for about two weeks.

My parents have also made me ham and tomatoes (soaked through the bread and had to wait to get home to eat it), peanut butter and cheese, jelly and ham and cheese, etc. I’ll eat anything, but I genuinely miss school lunch…

I eat my own weird combinations all the time, like

Ketchup + hot sauce + whatever my parents make for dinner, which is always rice, vegetables, and meat (they make everything taste so much better! I use vinegar or soy sauce if we run out)

Bologna and peanut butter sandwich (one of my childhood classics)

Cereal mixed with peanut butter for snack

Cinnamon and bread “sandwich” for when we run out of fillings

Basically any sort of savory, flavored liquid + solid, dry food

HealthWhen And How Did You Find Out You Couldn't Have Children? by ItuExchange(op): 8:25am On Sep 10, 2016
So a close friend of my mum’s has become infertile and completely unable to have her own biological children because she has had a hysterectomy for health reasons. She's quite young (28) and when my mum asked her how she felt she responded that it was a weight off her shoulders and she didn't have..

I was about 11 years old.

Against my dad’s wishes, my (probably narcissistic, but almost certainly hypochondriac) mother secretly brought me to a doctor to be evaluated for delayed puberty. My mom was pretty convinced that both she and I had MEN-1 (Multiple endocrine neoplasia-type 1, which is an autosomal dominant inherited endocrine disorder in which tumors tend to grow in the pancreas, pituitary, and parathyroid glands, among others). They examined me, but I don’t remember much other than my mom laughing and seemingly having a good ol’ time with the (male) doctor, despite the seriousness of what she believed was going on with me.

On the car ride home her behavior and mood changed—she was suddenly very serious (crying), turned to me and said, “you know, you may never be able to have kids,” or something to that effect.

It took me many years to realize how devastating this was to me, and for a long time I believed without question that she must be right. She was a nurse, after all, and very smart. Furthermore, she was my mother, and I never imagined she was being irresponsible or self-absorbed to be thrusting such sensitive information on my young self.

Since I thought I would never have the option of having children (I pretended never to want them, anyway, as a teen, just to protect my heart from that hurt) or get to experience any of the joys of having a family of my own, my self esteem was pretty poor and I fully expected to live a lonely life. The fear and expectation of being alone was compounded when my mom moved out suddenly when I was not quite 13. I became certain that I was unlovable.

Fast forward to today: I have a supportive partner, a biochemistry degree, and most precious of all, five beautiful kids. AND a great therapist.

I am very, very, very blessed, and I know this in my bones every day.

Whether or not genetic testing ultimately revealed an endocrine disorder is moot.

Diagnosis (or emotional abuse of a childhood self) is not destiny.

FamilyWhat Were Some Instances When Your Child(ren) Made You Proud? by ItuExchange(op): 10:34pm On Sep 09, 2016
Parents: What were some instances when your child(ren) made you proud?

My husband passed away in March 2013.

As we were preparing his funeral, both my kids, then 10 and 12, told me they wanted a chance to speak at the service. I was a bit nervous about this, so checked in with friends - all encouraged me to let them do this.

So each had a chance, independently and without any input from me, to talk about some memories about their dad.

My son made everyone laugh, telling stories Dad had related about his childhood years. Then my daughter, age 10, sang a song, acapella, that she wrote for her dad, the NIGHT BEFORE the funeral. It was beautiful, talking about how although he was gone, she would never be afraid because he was always in her heart. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I was never prouder of my kids!

Technology MarketTwitter, Yahoo!, Google, Facebook, Etc. to Disappear Soon – Jimoh Ibrahim by ItuExchange(op):
Billionaire Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim was recently talking to Nancy Illoh of The Money Show. Here are some of what he said:

“People mention Twitter. I don’t even know what’s Twitter. Twitter, Facebook, etc. I can tell you in 10 years to this time, you won’t see them again. Things do change.

That’s why the owner of Facebook is buying some new successful businesses like WhatsApp so that he doesn’t go down. Several years back, did anything like WhatsApp exist?

In 5 years’ time, Google and Yahoo! will disappear. Google was once blocked in China – a country that controls a large % of money circulation in the world. These tech companies would start bouncing off (offending) countries that would be blocking them one by one.”’

He said he wants to become governor of Ondo to bring about infrastructural development and repairs like roads and others. Ondo State has lots of natural resources that are still abandoned. Why? The state ought to be independent of Federal allocations. They shouldn’t owe any salaries at all; and they owed 7 months salaries. The allocations they get from the Federal movement can be used to pay salaries while approximately 50% of the funds would still be remaining. What have they done with that money?

As for ailing companies, he said the Federal government should call a round-table discussion to find out why the companies are failing and what can be done to save the situation. If a company that previously paid 8,000 workers monthly had to be forced to downside to 3,000, what would happen to the rest of 5,000 redundant income earners? A business must be sustainable before it can be profitable.

Before you criticize this man. Please note these facts:

He’s been decorated with national awards in recognition of his contributions to Nigerian economy. He owns 16 successful companies, some of which are located abroad and are doing very fine.

Someone like Jimoh Ibarahim is not a dullard when he speaks. What are your achievements in life? Think about that before you start criticizing him.

EducationWhat Happens When You Don't Wash Your Sheets by ItuExchange(op): 11:43pm On Sep 08, 2016
My least favorite Sunday chore is washing my bed sheets, as this requires unmaking and remaking the bed when I could be doing something more fun with my time.

It's annoying, particularly if you don't have a washer or dryer. But it's important to your health and for maintaining good hygiene.

Bed linens come into close contact with your body as long as you're in bed every night, and your bodily fluids seep into the sheets while you sleep, Mary Marlowe Leverette, a laundry expert for About.com, told ATTN:. That includes your sweat and even more disgusting stuff, which builds up in your bed over time if you don't wash your sheets:

"During sleep, we continue to perspire, and body oils and soil are released. It is possible to find saliva, urine, genital fluids, and fecal matter in the fibers. If the [linens] are not washed regularly, and the occupant has scratches or wounds, they can be come infected. Athlete's foot and other fungi can be transferred from fabrics. Infrequent cleaning of sheets and pillowcases allows the fluids to seep into the pillows and mattresses, and those are MUCH more difficult to clean than tossing sheets in the washer."

You also shed skin cells in your bed, which attract dust mites, microscopic bugs that feast off human flesh, Marlowe Leverette said. ATTN: previously reported that millions of dust mites live in your bed, eat your dead skin flakes, and make your mattress heavier over time. Their excrement can also cause asthma and allergies. All of this calls for frequent washing, Marlowe Leverette said.

"The excrement of the mites can cause breathing problems for those with allergies and asthma, but can easily be removed by washing in hot water. By not washing linens frequently, the oils and fluids build up and embed in the fibers, making them much more difficult to remove. If you have ever pulled some sheets from the linen closet, and they smell slightly rancid and stale, that is body soil left in the fibers because the sheets were not cleaned thoroughly."

To maintain a clean living space, help prevent allergies, and stay clean, the best thing to do is wash your sheets once a week in hot water, Marlowe Leverette advised:

"Ideally, bed linens should be washed every week using the hottest water recommended for the fabric. If the weather is extremely hot, and the sleepers perspire heavily or the sleepers are ill, more frequent washings are recommended."

CultureWhat Do You Find Strange In Your Own Culture? by ItuExchange(op): 3:30am On Sep 08, 2016
What strikes you as unusual about your own culture?

Korean Superstitions
Oh Koreans, why you so crazy?

1. FAN DEATH
A common Korean superstition is that you should NEVER ever leave a electric fan running in an enclosed room with the doors and windows closed because you will die from suffocation or hypothermia. The idea became so prevalent that companies that made electric fans started incorporating timers on their fans so that the fan could turn off by itself why you were asleep.

2. Shaking your legs
You should only do this if you want to be poor. Koreans believe(also a common Chinese superstition as well) that when you shake your legs, you're shaking out your fortune. Why? Korean culture believes that gold and prosperity lie within your legs.

3. Butterfly/moth + eyes = blindness
Not as common as other superstitions. You should never touch a moth or butterfly and then rub your eyes because you will become blind. It has some credibility since you can infect your eye in this manner, but blindness is taking it a bit far.

4. Only eat sticky stuff on exam days.
Exams are very important in Korean education. Your future rests solely on a single exam after you finish high school, and decides which college you can get into. People literally kill themselves when they score badly. The idea behind this superstition is that you should eat sticky foods so that all the knowledge you learned will remain in your head. YOU FAILED THE EXAM??!!?!? Did you eat soup? That stuff will make all that information slip out of your head. So will using conditioner on your hair. So slippery. Oh yes, don't eat bread either. The Korean word for bread is "bbang" which also happens to be the word for 0. So you'll probably get a 0 on that test. Way to go.

5. Leave a mess when you move homes.
You shouldnt sweep the floors and don't pick up any trash either. That way you'll trick the evil spirits from following you since they'll think you still live there.

6. Don't trim fingernails at night.
Because mice will eat them and then steal your form and suck out your soul.

7. Don't whistle at night.
You'll attract ghosts and snakes to your home. Oh and you'll probably piss off your neighbors.

8. People with moles or beauty marks near the mouth.
Always be on the lookout for these people. They're supposed to be super flirtatious and cheaters.

9. Writing names in red.
Koreans traditionally wrote the names of the dead in red. So its ultimately viewed as the kiss of death. A teacher did this on a assignment of mine once and my mom went berserk. Let's just say that the teacher threw away all her red pens and only graded in purple the rest of the year.

10. Don't jump over your baby.
Besides the fact that this is poor parenting, you'll also stunt your child's growth. Makes sense.

Jobs/VacanciesHave You Ever Sacked Someone? If So, Why? by ItuExchange(op): 11:44am On Sep 07, 2016
tongue

Have you ever fired someone? If so, why?

Dozens. Hundreds, I’d bet. I was an HR manager for a number of companies and it was my unfortunate task to terminate a lot of people. The bulk of those terminations were:

Reduction in force — usually at the end of the Christmas holiday season and/or a downturn at a store that required letting people go. This easily puts the numbers into the hundreds. The post-Christmas one was easy. The reduction in force that came about randomly (at a store I worked at) was painful.

Attendance — this was was actually a joy for me. Yes, a joy. As a manager, you learn to appreciate reliability and while many terminations are agonizing, especially if the person is caught up in circumstances you cannot totally blame them for, attendance was either painless or a total joy. Literally, I’d have to contain the smirk when I’d finally be able to tell slowpoke #85 who called off all the time, “Well, you see, Tony, I’m sure you know what’s about to happen …” they always did.

Performance — this was usually not unpleasant, but sometimes was horrible. Most of the time, it was a relief. People who are struggling don’t realize they’re being done a favor. If you suck at your job, you’re miserable anyway (I’ve yet to see a horrible employee who is thrilled with the job). By terming them, you’re moving them to the door and on to something better in life. It also was almost always the worst experience because, inevitably, there would be that rare employee who tried very, very hard and just didn’t make it.

This was always a tough one to explain because we’ve all been polluted by high school and parents who tell us to “just try, that’s all we can ask.” A job pays you to do a job, not try. If Person 1 can put zero effort in and get the job done, they keep their job. If Person 2 works their ass off and still doesn’t get the job done, they get fired. Companies are for-profit businesses, not charities and people are paid to do a job.

The thing that made it horrifying is when someone was in a situation where you knew their entire life depended on making money and providing for a family. Performance terminations don’t creep up out of nowhere. At least when I gave them, an employee was frequently given 9 months to improve (with two separate performance counselings). When I was in HR —having been terminated for a performance counseling that was used specifically to get rid of me— I always took it as a personal charge to really invest time in working with the employee. Most of the time they made it, sometimes they didn’t. That was painful when they were supporting a family.

Insubordination/Attitude — this is an incredibly rare reason to terminate an employee, but they exist. Why? Because insubordinate and negative people tend to do a sucky job. It’s easier to counsel and terminate an employee for performance than the fuzzy world of insubordination and poor attitude. Still, I had an employee tell me that she wouldn’t do some task that fell within her purview. When called back into the office, she said (in front of me and a witness) that she refused. She was sent home and the next time she came in, she lost her (supervisor) job.

Workplace violence — Not an issue. Never cared about these people and sending violent people home is always a joy.

Harassment — This was THE worst situation I’ve ever dealt with. A supervisor I adored had used his access to employee information to send inappropriate text messages to a female coworker. He was like the damned Trinity Killer (no murder): the most pleasant man to your face, but as it would turn out, a stark raving lunatic to subordinate women. I was so angry and so stunned. Well, he just had to be let go.

Theft — this was also lots of fun. My favorite situation was honing in on a woman who was stealing money from the till at Walmart. There was a whole investigation and a camera pointing at her register. We caught her slipping $100 notes in her pocket RIGHT ON CAMERA. The police were waiting for her and everything.

Foreign Affairs10 Differences Between Conservatives And Liberals by ItuExchange(op): 11:22pm On Sep 06, 2016
Conservatives and liberals approach almost every issue with completely different philosophies, underlying assumptions, and methods. That's why it's so hard to find genuine compromise between conservatism and liberalism -- because not only are liberals almost always wrong, their solutions almost always make things worse.

With that in mind, let me take a few moments to explain some of the key differences between liberals and conservative to you.

Bonus) Conservatives believe that judges should act like umpires instead of legislating from the bench. That means that judges should determine whether laws are permissible under the Constitution and settle debates about the meaning of laws, not impose their will based on their ideological leanings. Liberals view judges as a backdoor method of getting unpopular left-leaning legislation passed. They don't want umpires, they want political partisans in black robes who will side with them first and then come up with a rationale to explain it.

10) Conservatives believe that individual Americans have a right to defend themselves and their families with guns and that right cannot be taken away by any method short of a Constitutional Amendment, which conservatives would oppose. Liberals believe by taking arms away from law abiding citizens, they can prevent criminals, who aren't going to abide by gun control laws, from using guns in the commission of crimes.

9) Conservatives believe that we should live in a color blind society where every individual is judged on the content of his character and the merits of his actions. On the other hand, liberals believe that it's ok to discriminate based on race as long as it primarily benefits minority groups.

cool Conservatives are capitalists and believe that entrepreneurs who amass great wealth through their own efforts are good for the country and shouldn't be punished for being successful. Liberals are socialists who view successful business owners as people who cheated the system somehow or got lucky. That's why they don't respect high achievers and see them as little more than piggy banks for their programs.

7) Conservatives believe that abortion ends the life of an innocent child and since we believe that infanticide is wrong, we oppose abortion. Most liberals, despite what they'll tell you, believe that abortion ends the life of an innocent child, but they prefer killing the baby to inconveniencing the mother.

6) Conservatives believe in confronting and defeating enemies of the United States before they can harm American citizens. Liberals believe in using law enforcement measures to deal with terrorism, which means that they feel we should allow terrorists to train, plan, and actually attempt to kill Americans before we try to arrest them -- as if you can just send the police around to pick up a terrorist mastermind hiding in Iran or the wilds of Pakistan.

5) Conservatives, but not necessarily Republicans (which is unfortunate), believe it's vitally important to the future of the country to reduce the size of government, keep taxes low, balance the budget, and get this country out of debt. Liberals, and Democrats for that matter, believe in big government, high taxes, and they have never met a new spending program they didn't like, whether we will have to go into debt to pay for it or not.

4) Conservatives believe that government, by its very nature, tends to be inefficient, incompetent, wasteful, and power hungry. That's why we believe that the government that governs least, governs best. Liberals think that the solution to every problem is another government program. Even when those new programs create new problems, often worse than the ones that were being fixed in the first place, the solution is always....you guessed it, another government program.

3) Conservatives are patriotic, believe that America is a great nation, and are primarily interested in looking out for the good of the country. That's why we believe in "American exceptionalism" and "America first." Liberals are internationalists who are more concerned about what Europeans think of us and staying in the good graces of the corrupt bureaucrats who control the UN than looking out for the best interests of this nation.

2) Conservatives, most of them anyway, believe in God and think that the Constitution has been twisted by liberal judges to illegitimately try to purge Christianity from the public square. We also believe, most of us anyway, that this country has been successful in large part because it is a good, Christian nation and if our country ever turns away from the Lord, it will cease to prosper. Liberals, most of them anyway, are hostile to Christianity. That's why, whether you're talking about a school play at Christmas time, a judge putting the Ten Commandments on the wall of his court, or a store employee saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays," liberals are dedicated to driving reminders of Christianity from polite society.

1) Conservatives believe in pursuing policies because they're pragmatic and because they work. Liberals believe in pursuing policies because they're "nice" and make them feel good. Whether the policies they're advocating actually work or not is of secondary importance to them.

Science/TechnologyWhat Happens When You Put A Fork Into An Electrical Socket? by ItuExchange(op): 10:56pm On Sep 05, 2016
There was a kid in my 7th grade science class who decided to try and find this out for himself.

He took a fork and wedged it in an outlet in our classroom. The outlet wasn't turned on, so it only happened when the teacher turned it on (when we weren't there.) The fork got welded to the outlet and is probably still there to this day.

TravelThe Best Way To Avoid Traffic Holdup At Abule Egba, Lagos by ItuExchange(op): 1:30pm On Sep 05, 2016
Lagos State announced they would spend only 18 months building the bridge at Abule Egba, Lagos. But I can guarantee you that it’ll take a minimum of 3 years. The pace of the construction is too slow. Sometimes, you’ll see only a few workers, working tardily like hungry men. Sometimes, you’ll see no human beings working, save equipment that are just lying there.

It’s a good idea to build a bridge at that place, because it would surely solve some traffic problems. However, the way they do it is extremely slow: Where about 20 workers should be busy days and nights, you’ll see only 3 or 4 working slowly only during days.

Motorists and passengers are facing serious, frustrating and exasperating hardships on that road every day. Some can spend 3 hour or more there! Why?

There’s nothing that can be done, really. Nigerians should know by now that, no matter how much they waste their time shouting, the governments will do what they will do. Then how do you alleviate your own suffering?

Whenever I’m coming from Iyana Ipaja or Oshodi, I’ll simply take an Abule Egba bus and alight at Super Bus Stop. Then I’ll trek to Abule Egba Bus Stop, which isn’t far anyway (far shorter than Yaba Bus Stop to Oju Elegba). From there, I’ll take another bus to anywhere I’m going. This way I avoid the hold up.

Buses which take Agege face impasse. Those who turn around Ile Epo to emerge at Ekoro Road also face bad road situations.

Waking for several hours is good for your health. Isn’t it?

Christianity EtcCan A True Christian Be A Professional Boxer? by ItuExchange(op): 9:08pm On Sep 04, 2016
It’s clear that the Bible condemns violence. Professional boxing, which we tend to view as mere sports, is undoubtedly, a form of violence.

Many Christian denominations preach against that. However, more and more modern, liberal, international churches now portray successful professional boxing as a blessing from God. I’ve seen such evidence in a European church, pastored by a Nigerian, and an American Christian program, anchored by a Nigerian.

Let’s face it, boxers legally hurt each other while fighting. You hit someone. The injuries could even be more serious than imagined.

Is boxing a harmless fun in God’s eyes? Can Christians engage in it and remain born again? Please what’s your viewpoint?

RomanceIs It Ever Okay To Lie And Say "I Love You" And Not Mean It At All? by ItuExchange(op): 1:54am On Sep 03, 2016
I went down to the biggest department store and picked out an engagement ring. At the time I was making $1000/US a month so I had no real money.

I think I spent $500 on a ring with an emerald and two microscopic diamonds on either side.

My girlfriend and I had been going out for two years and she was strongly implying marriage was a good thing.

When I started to go home after buying the ring I found myself shaking uncontrollably. I was 24 years old. I didn't think I was in love with my girlfriend but I didn't even know what that meant.

In fact, I was on a bus at the time and I think I had just fallen in love with the girl who was sitting across from me on the bus. That was the extent of my knowledge of "love".

What does it mean at the age of 24 to say "I love you", knowing that those words could affect the next 80 (potentially) years of your life.

So I went back to the store. I had the ring turned into a necklace. I went back home and gave my girlfriend the necklace. I told her I loved her and that this was a prelude to marriage. I tried to convince her this was a good first step.

Then bad things happened. I cheated. She cheated. I moved to a new city (my typical method for breaking up with someone at that time) and we were constantly arguing.

It was two miserable years before we finally broke up. So about 5% of my current life was destroyed because I said three words: "I" "Love" "You".

Why did I say those words? Because I was afraid of confrontation. Because I was afraid to offend her. Because I was afraid to be lonely. Because I was afraid of what other people would think of me. Because I secretly was in love with her best friend and didn't want her best friend to hate me.

On and on. Many bad reasons that were born out of insecurity and fear were the reasons I said, "I love you".

Because of these inner fears, because of my inner weakness, my outer life suffered the consequences for two entire years. Everything you do, everything you say has consequences.

But this means also that everything you think has consequences.

The outer world is just a mirror of your inner world. If you clean your inner world so you are focused on being honest, doing your best, and trusting that honesty and healthy living will produce the best outcomes, then the outer word will produce the best outcomes.

This is the key to all living. This is what I didn't know then but I practice daily now.

I thought I had absolute control over the future outcomes in my life. But all I have control over is how I treat my inner life today. Keep the lights on, keep the windows clean, and you become a beacon of light for all of the life around you. This is my only job every day. Sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's easier.

BUT, to answer your question, I have no idea. Who am I to judge?

We are all meant to do the things that will help us grow the most. Maybe at this stage in your life, this is the lesson you need to learn and to experience.

All I am saying is: everything you think on the inside, is reflected by consequences on the outside, including saying "I love you" and the effects that it has.

Being honest will always have the best consequences. But sometime something inside of us needs more drama and more pain in life for awhile.

In my example, the pain and drama lasted for years. In fact, I don't think I learned how to avoid that drama until I was 40 years old.

Be honest, do the best you can, don't judge others. So I won't judge you. Good luck with your love. You are clearly a giving and generous person. Keep working on that and the right outcomes will happen.

PetsGreat Dane – World’s Tallest Dog (photos) by ItuExchange(op): 10:10am On Sep 02, 2016
The Great Dane is a large German breed of domestic dog known for its giant size. The German name of the breed is Deutsche Dogge, or German Mastiff. The French name is Dogue Allemand.

The Great Dane is one of the tallest dog breeds. The record holder for tallest dog was a Great Dane called Zeus (died September 2014; aged 5), that measured 111.8 cm (44.0 in) from paw to shoulder.

Giant George was a blue Great Dane previously recognised as the world's tallest living dog, and the tallest dog ever by Guinness World Records. There were originally conflicting media reports regarding his height, but the official measurement showed that he was three-quarters of an inch taller than the previous record holder, Titan (at 43 inches (109.2 cm) at the withers) and an inch shorter than the subsequent record holder, Zeus. His records were announced as he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in February 2010. – Wikipedia
