The Nigeria Immigration Service will commence the issuance of the much awaited New International Passport on the 29th April, 2019. With the new passport, you can get up to 10 years validity as against the outgoing one that has a maximum validity of 5 years.
The new passport which will now be applied for and paid for online, has also added a new mandatory requirement that must be provided by all applicants.

The new requirement is the National Identification Number (NIN) and it will be provided in addition to the existing requirements like passport photographs, birth certificates, marriage certificates/newspaper publication, Local Government letter of identification, letter of consent for minors under 16 years, police report incase of lost passport amongst others.

Nigerians on social media has reacted to a statement by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige permitting medical doctors to leave Nigeria, to practice outside the country.

According to Daily Post, Ngige said this on Tuesday while as a guest on Channels TV Sunrise Daily, adding that Nigeria has surplus doctors.

In his statement,
"I’m Not Worried, We Have Surplus (Doctors), if we have a surplus, we export. I was taught Biology and Chemistry by Indian teachers in my secondary school days."

Taking devastating decisions due to depression is really tempting

The police command of Ebonyi State on Monday, rushed a 37-years old man to Alex Ekueme Teaching Hospital for treatment who allegedly set himself ablaze.

According to NAN, the man identified as Chinedu Nweze set himself ablaze behind a classroom block at St. Patrick's Primary School, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki.

He was said to have tied his leg, then wet himself with petrol before committing the act.

NAN learnt that Nweze, who hails from Umuogharu, Ezza North Local Government Area of the state, had complained to his neighbours of frustration and inability to feed himself, a day before the incident.

Mrs. Loveth Odah, Ebonyi Police Command Spokesperson said the investigations are being carried out to ascertain whether it was a suicide attempt or not.

According to her, the man is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

A British woman identified as Faye Mooney has been killed in Nigeria by kidnappers, the kidnappers also murdered a Nigerian man, abducting 3 others in Northern Kaduna State.

The local police and British Commission confirmed the incident. The woman was named by the British high commission as Faye Mooney. She had travelled from Lagos as a tourist and was attending a party before the incident happened, police said. Kidnappings are rampant in Nigeria, where both locals and foreigners are targeted, mainly for ransoms.

Mooney was employed in Nigeria by a non-governmental organization called Mercy Corps.

The commission and police are yet to identify the kidnappers.

According to The Guardian, “Some suspected kidnappers armed with dangerous weapons gained entry into a recreational resort called Kajuru Castle in Kajuru local government area shooting sporadically and in the process shot dead two persons, including an expatriate lady, and took away three others,” a Kaduna state police spokesman said.

The Spokesman of the Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed this in a statement he released to Journalists in Benin Saturday evening.

Chidi described the suspects as notorious gang members of kidnapping, armed robbery and syndicates of Boko Haram that terrorized Kogi and Edo axis.

The statement reads...

“Based on credible intelligence through the Department of the State Security (DSS) in conjunction with the office of the Inspector-General of Police, Edo State Police Command was alerted by the Inspector-General of Police that the above mentioned criminal elements are planning coordinated attacks against police formations in Edo State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Dan-Mallam Mohammed, directed the tactical teams of the command to go after the criminals.
“On 19/04/2019, a robust raiding, coding and search was conducted within Auchi axis, which resulted in the arrest of the following: Salihu Uzovehe (23), Hadi Musa Gambari (23), Tijani Garuba (24) and Mohammed Abdulkadri (44), who are deadly and notorious gang members of kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates ?that are terrorising Kogi and Edo States axis.”
Items allegedly recovered from the suspects include an old carton-color Toyota Valet car with registration number AG-721-AGZ, one pump-action gun, two locally made guns, 20 live cartridges, a pair of police mobile force uniform, two face masks and charms.

The command appealed to the public to be viligant, and report any suspected case.

Tragedy struck as a total number of 13 people including a child was killed during a family party in a Mexican State.

Gunmen raided a family party in the Mexican State of Veracruz, killing 13 people including a child, authorities says.

Four other people were injured in the attack Friday in the city of Minatitlán

The Secretariat of Public Safety said the gunmen arrived at a family reunion in Minatitlan asking to see someone named “El Becky’ — the owner of a local bar — before opening fire.

“Federal and state forces have deployed a strong search and capture operation of those responsible for the events,”Gutiérrez Maldonado, secretary of public security in Veracruz state, tweeted Saturday.


It said seven men, five women, and a child were killed, and four others injured in the attack.
There was no known motive for the shooting, but Veracruz is plagued with organised crime and bloody gun battles frequently erupt between rival drug gangs.

Captain Victor Olukoya, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, confirmed the arrest of the five kidnappers to journalists in Akure, saying the hoodlums had first abducted some farmers and also demanded some huge ransom.

According to Sahara Reporters, the Nigerian Army announced the arrest 5 suspected kidnappers who have been terrorising locals.

The hoodlums were arrested at Owo Local Council Area of the state.


Olukoya said that the five victims who were abducted and held hostage by the kidnappers were later freed through the raid on the den of the kidnapper.

“We made the arrest when we carried out a raid on at about 1:00am on the kidnappers’ hideout at Jugbere village in Owo LGA," he said.

“The operation was based on a tip-off that suspected kidnappers had kidnapped nine farmers on a farm belonging to one Mr. Godwin Ugu. During the raid, troops were able to rescue five of the hostages while four others escaped from the kidnappers den.

“The rescued hostages and some of the suspects who sustained minor injuries are presently undergoing first aid treatment at the 32 Artillery Brigade Medical Centre. Items recovered from the hoodlums include, a dane gun, axe, cutlasses, live cartridges, ring charms."

The Army spokesperson disclosed that the arrested hoodlums will be handed over to the security agents after preliminary investigation.

As of last year, the average Nigeria wedding cost something like N500,000 and the it goes upward from that to more unimaginable cost. For most people, especially in this economy, that’s a lot of money. But all we advise is that men should try and cut their coat according to their material

4. In search of a ‘working class’
Today, most Nigerian men are in search of a wife capable of sharing financial responsibilities with them. Gone are the days when men marry ‘full-house-wives’, the increasing cost of living has tilted most men in favor of ladies who have a means of livelihood and willing to share with their man, the burden of building a home.

5. Fear of Freedom
There is a common belief among some men that marriage puts an end to one’s freedom. Single men today are much more proud about not being dependent and being on their own. They fear marriage because they will become answerable for every action they take to their spouse. That is one big responsibility some men are not ready to take up.

Kolade Johnson, a Nigerian man who was killed by SARS Operatives was buried in Lagos admist agony and tears.

On the 31st of March 2019, late Kolade Johnson was shot while he was at a football viewing center watching a live match. The officer who shot him, Ogunyemi Olalekan was said to have been relieved of his duty after the incident.

Many youths gathered to mourn Late Kolade Johnson as he was buried at the Atan Cemetry, Yaba on Thursday.

Family, friends and well wishers beckoned on the Federal Government to prevail justice.

At about eleven in the morning, the casket containing Kolade Johnson’s corpse arrived at the Atan cemetery, Yaba accompanied by a long convoy of family members, friends, and sympathizers.

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) killed 39 Boko Haram terrorists, captured many equipment from them, while 20 Soldiers were wounded.

The spokesman of the task force, Col. Timothy Antigha, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

Antigha said the terrorists were killed when they attacked the troops position in Cross Kaura on Tuesday.

He also stated that the wounded soldiers have evacuated the area so as to receive proper medical attention.
