Greetings! Glad to hear my (your!) country is treating you well! What do your children say about the school?

It's good that you have your green card in hand. You should never spend more than 12 months at a stretch outside the United States, because if you do, you'll have abandoned your Legal Permanent Resident status. It would be good if you could show that you spend more time inside the U.S. than outside. But, considering the nature of your work, your travel history makes sense. You might consider traveling with documentary proof that your production company is indeed domiciled in the States -- that should soothe the hearts of any border agents who might question your travel.

I really don't think you're going to have problems. It's the people who spend two weeks in the U.S. and ten months in Nigeria who have a hard time convincing the border agents that they "reside in the States." Your situation is quite different.

All the best to you, your wife and kids!

Tnx a million...My kids love the schools, two attend elementary and one in middle and they've fully settled in....tnx again and God bless you.

Regards.

Hi VO,

It's been a long while and I see you have maintained and sustained that which makes you endearing, I hope you're doing great... I and my family traveled on the 10th of Oct and has since settled down in Virginia, the kids are already in school and my wife is at the verge of securing an employment and believe me when I say I have never been so fulfilled.

Based on the nature of my job (Freelance Filmmaker) I travel a lot and stay a maximum of 3 months on some projects, I have gotten the physical GC and I'm presently in Nigeria for a production that will take me 2 months to film so I hope to be back in the States in January, now my questions is this.

1: what's the healthiest travel history that I should keep to maintain my LPR status?
2: do I need to file any form of application in respect to my job related trips outside of the US?
3: I have a production company domiciled in the States and most of the job I do comes under the auspices of the company, does it have any advantage?

Regards,

Goodluck to you!

I want to say a big thank you to the entire members of this house, you might not understand the strength of this forum nor the impact and influence it has over some of us.
I and my family arrived New York on the 10th of Oct. and moved to Virgina on the 14th, it has been a wonderful experience and I'm grateful to most of you.
My family is settling in so seamlessly, my kids are already asking me they hope we're not going back anytime soon and I totally understand their fears.... Life here is so good and organized and I think it's best for kids.
Most times the reward for the good works you do are what keeps you going even where others are failing.
@Jejelady your story will always be that of success, I have never had any personal dealing with you but the testimonies abound.
@adeboy007, we spoke a couple of times and I find in you the burnings of a liberal man who is willing to help at all cost.
I wish to keep in touch with most of you as I am already in talks with some groups in Atlanta, Houston, Virginia and New York to start working with Nigerians in the US who are interested in movie productions both as investors, behind the camera personnels and actors to see how they can be make a living out of it and still keep a regular job.
I intend to finally move to Atlanta, so will be going in search of a place to rent next month, any help in this regard will be appreciated.

I will pay the GC fee on the 20th of Oct. cos I having issues with GTB MasterCard and it most likely will be resolved on the 20th
How do I go about obtaining an SSN as soon as possible.

Regards,

Well, the sad truth is that we're seeing so many imposters lately, the Nigerian police didn't have time to detain StSteven and his "wife" that day. So I asked them and another imposter couple to come back Thursday. One couple was too smart to come back, the other couple was not.

Whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad That's the only explanation for him to have returned to the embassy, knowing things were not right with his application.
Now even if he becomes excessively rich tomorrow, entering the US will remain one huge huddle.
This is one decision he would live to regret.

VisaOfficer: I just had a discussion with a trusted colleague about the ethics of disclosing the person's username. We finally decided that it's probably more ethical at this point to keep from derailing this thread with speculation, especially considering that we're going to post a link to any articles (which will certainly include names) when they're published. Also, it could serve as a warning to anyone who might be in collusion with the person.

So: it was StSteven.

Hi Everyone,

I am tempted to comment on this one, I just cannot resist it.

PRAYER AND FASTING is no longer a practice but a SLOGAN.
For me I'd rather you don't pray, you don't fast but live a good and honest life.
To think that this individual has been very active on the forum, probably gained the trust of some members who might even be willing to vouch for him is shocking.
I Feel really sad anytime issues like this come up cos this is the reason some genuine people get denied, it makes me remember how much sleepless nights I had prior to my family's visa approval, I was always thinking "WHAT IF I DON'T GET THAT OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE MYSELF" and this is because these fraudulent guys sometimes lay their hands on genuine documents thereby making other genuine documents suspicious.
Good a thing this was exposed, maybe those planning to go the sames route might have a change of heart.

You can actually send same through email as long as it's the same info, so I would suggest you attach all forms and send as an email to kccdv@state.gov as soon as possible.
Don't know how late this is coming but it's worth the fight.

JehovahFavor: Gud evening house. Can someone pls enlighten me on how long does it take before a medical certificate issued for visa chat expires? Thanks for prompt respo nse.

Usually, if there are no issues, it's 6 months from the day you went for the medicals but I have also always thought that that visa is valid as long as the medicals.
For instance, I went for my medicals on the 2nd of June and then went for interview on the 16th June but my visa will be valid till 2nd of Dec. maybe there are other parts of info between your medicals and interview dates that might turn a major factor in entering the US with an expired medicals.

Adeboy the 007, it can only be God.
A lot of persons get denied for their negligence and some for ignorance while some for lack of confidence.
Even the heavens are aware of the consequences of your denial to the entire Nairaland community, for the Bible says "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints and do minister" (Hebrews 6:10 KJV)

Adeboy, your efforts on this forum can never be in vain.

I spoke with you a few days before your chat (which turned out to be a drilling) and I had no doubt that you were going to scale through but never knew the huddle will be this high. Congrats!

I want to use this opportunity to congratulate all those that got approved, for those on AP I urge you to be steadfast in prayers. God can tumble any situation, for those waiting for their chat be rest assured that our prayers are always with you. IT IS WELL

Let nobody think I have gotten approved and sneaked away... It's been hectic cos I have so much to clear from my desk, I seldom sleep these days, working round the clock (24hrs now seems too short to be called a day) to see if we could leave by mid August, (strange enough we have not decided on what city to settle), as the days go by I should be able to come around more often.

Theoretically, in a "please don't quote me because I'm not a Customs and Border Patrol agent" sort of way, yes, it sounds like you should be fine.

Thanks, I won't quote you, I'm just going to say "I heard"

Thank you and have a nice day.

Good to see you again! grin

It's best if you stay in the U.S. until you receive your Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) card, then make sure you travel with it at all times. If you stay outside the United States for more than 12 months, you will lose your LPR status, so keep that in mind! Also, if you spend more time outside the U.S. than inside the U.S., at some point the Customs and Border Patrol agents will begin to question you. But if you can show that you're traveling for work, they shouldn't have a problem. Are you going to be able to change your work address from Nigeria to the U.S., even though you travel frequently? That would help.

If you do travel without your LPR card, you'll need to come see us for a boarding foil before you're allowed back on a plane, and that's complicated and takes around a week. So it's in your best interest to hold still until your card is delivered.

Hope this helps!

Sure, I am a freelance filmmaker so my address changes to my US address and I am willing to spend the first 3 months in the States before jetting out to go film somewhere in west Africa and I am sure I cannot be outside to the US for more than a month a time.

I should be fine I suppose?

Thanks.

I'm so glad Nairaland is back and running, though a lot of posts were lost but the good thing is that we're back.

We've gone to pick our passports and immigration packages now warming up to take off not sure when though cos I need to clear my desk.

Welcome back everyone and please let's get update on past/pending interviews and lets not forget the July fasting and prayers, it goes a long way.

Hey VO,
I am so glad you're back.
These few days for me was one hell of a nightmare.
Don't know what to think, don't know whom to ask or talk to, I called Adeboy007 cos he's about the only one I have direct contact with and he was as lost as I am but thank God Nairaland is back and you returned to start off where it all stopped.
Though we lost a lot of posts but happy to be back.

We have since gone to pick our passports and immigration packages (never felt so proud)
My kids wake up almost every morning to ask me "are we leaving today?" and I will always smile and say NOT YET.

I have got an issue I need to clarify.

My job makes me travel a lot, I travel an average of once every two months, so even whilst in the State if I must put food on the table and pay my bills I've got to keep traveling
How do I make sure this doesn't affect my status as a GC holder?

Regards
