Well... You can't get all those features in one phone except you go for more expensive ones like Gionee m5 and TECNO L8+.
Like I said earlier, both devices are quite good for their prices. They both have pros and cons so your choice will depend on your most important priority. If you are more interested in camera, video calls and selfie, Buy m3mini, but if you really want a long lasting battery, get L5. The m3mini batt is still good but when it reaches 20%, it doesn't last anymore, it can drain from 20 to 0% in one hour while 20% in L5 can take you a whole day on moderate use.
Both devices doesn’t get hot, but only the charger can get hot due to long charging time (M3mini takes approx 3hrs while L5 takes approx 4hrs).
Talking about lagging, both devices have 1gb ram and can lag once in a while, though, L5 processor speed(1.3ghz) is a bit faster than m3mini (1.0ghz). But m3mini has a better chipset and latest processor architecture. No need to mention the 4G LTE in m3mini because it's almost useless in Nigeria.
When I was in the same situation you are now, I chosed L5 and till today, I have no regret whatsoever for making that choice.

for those experiencing memory card unmounting after using ur phone for a very long time its just a ROM(operating system) fault so if u know any thing about porting ROMs then u can port teccno boom j5 ROM to ur phone it has d same interface with l5 that it won't even be notice that its not d default rom. thats how I solved mine I would have posted the ROM but it is too big cos I didn't remove any thing from it its about 980mb in size and I'm just using Airtel 2g plan.

Please can this be done with Camon C9 too?
