We would
1. Give them religions .
2. Colonise them.
3. Cart away all their resources
4. Leave them 2 be fighting qbout d religions. That would likely happen if we could overpower them. And guess what? USA, China, Germany, UK, Japan would get most of the space resorces with Africa left in the dark. |

johnydon22: My thoughts are
-If there actually are intelligent extra-terrestrials more advanced than us then they probably are ignoring us as we most likely are ignoring ants who we see less intelligent than us.
we can't teach ants physics as they won't understand so it's of no use. so myabe these being likely do see us as per their intellect the way we see ants in intellect.
- Technological intelligence is rare in the universe even at that considering the number of planets it could still amount to millions if not trillions if live evolved on other planets.
But may like us they are all young species still trying to figure out left from right and have not developed enough tech to explore deep space.
the possibilities are endless
Whats your take on it, and what's this solution according to the article? Do you know that the moment we meet with an intelligent life form from space, it is war? Especially if they have resources or we have resources they need? |

Long ago i made my peace with being a sinner and lecherous degenerate, unlikely to see or enter the kingdom of God whether I believed in him/her/it/them or not..
Im not particularly interested in science, don't really care much for the origin of our species, and have only mild envy of the lavish lifestyles of the pastorpreneurs.
I'm not looking for a deeper purpose to life and I'm not interested in the mysteries of the universe.
I just don't want to die. See the fvcking hedonist! You are not serious! |

hahn: Yeah. Same here. However, I do not feel hatred. I feel a mixture of disgust and pity. Disgust at the pastor's obvious scam and pity for "believers" who have obviously been misinformed by society.
I am also more introspective and there is this necessity to only speak of what I am sure of and what I have researched.
I have also contemplated starting my own church. Money dey there oooo lol....church business is the only guaranteed profitable business in Nigeria. As for hatred, come to the dark side. Hatred is stronger than love. The rage consumes. It causes wars and destroys enemies. Receive it!!! |

herald9: LOL.
So true.
In addition:
Everything about religion is quite surreal to me now. Whenever I hit the church, I don't seem to have any sense of belonging, it seems I'm just outside looking in.
I am more critical of every sermon; I dissect and analyse each of them which always make me chuckle, and at the same time, angry at how humans with brains could swallow such putrid without flinching.
I don't try to live good based on expected reward or to escape eternal punishment, I live good cause it'll help our continued existence.
I keep hoping that one day people will come to accept the world the way it is and stop living on sugar-coated reality painted by religion.
I'm moved by suffering and death. I sometimes wish I was a god.... Yeah, but for me, I find it hard to even stay in church. The bullshyte is too much! |

However, living life to the fullest means different things to different people. For instance, some hedonist would want to fvck women from all the continents in the world before he dies. Some would want to travel the world. Some would want to make a change in their society. |

Weird Atheism
Has anyone seen a dramatic change in lifestyle after becoming an atheist? I know different people have different reactions but here is mine;
After becoming an atheist-
1) I have become more thoughtful about things. But this has also made me moody. This is because I am starting to realise that life is unfair and that so many people waste their lives for useless things like religion and wars.
2) I'm more interested in science fiction and the supernatural. I keep wondering what is at the end of the universe. I consume horror and sci fi movies like a madman.
3) I'm a more curious person. Nowadays, I tend to demand for proof or more explanations for things.
4) I can't stop thinking about death and history. When it comes to death, I just wonder why we are here in the first place when it is so easy to die and never come back. As for history, I keep wondering about the generations before us. When I see an old house, I imagine the people who have lived there and died there.
5) Children. My love and pity for children has grown. I realised how much misinformation we are abused with as children. The religious indoctrination and the cultural taboos. I try to teach children whenever I have the chance.
6) Hatred. There is this hatred for deceivers and false prophets. There was a time I even sat next to a pastor. This guy was so fake with all his jewleries and he was talking to me gently. Despite his gentle approach, I moved away. I could not just stand his fakeness. The clown was talking humble but has jewelry worth millions on his hands and necks. I can't even listen to christian preaching anymore or even Nigerian politicians when they speak. They lie lie lie lie.
Have you guys changed in any way?

Reyginus: You think the length of a post gives it meaning but I don't think so. Simply tell me what Perfection is in your own language? It is a complex subject but, you somehow can condense it into two lines? Please, continue asking the question, rather than explaining your beliefs.....keep proving my point. At least, I have a page of my arguments here if someone wants to know my position on the issue of perfection. |

I remembered that I always find fault in those words whenever it's mentioned right from my early university days without actually knowing why until later.
Please both of you should agree to disagree Regyinus is just a JAQer. "Just Asking Questions" guy. At least, Kingebukasblog will try to state his opinions and still flesh out his beliefs. This Reyginus is an expert in asking questions over and over again without putting anything of substance. A covert way of trolling. Just look at his last 3 comments. |

Reyginus: I've told you what I think it is and you disagreed. A person who disagrees that a thing is perfect must have an idea of what perfect really is. You rejected mine so tell me. Please, just go. For such a complex issue, you barely write three lines. I predicted that you won't define perfection. I've been talking about perfection for over a page. If you have no idea where I'm coming from, its your fault that you dont want to read what I wrote. |

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 11:31am On May 07, 2016 |
Reyginus: Can you add anything to perfect again? Is the song different because he's high on weed or the quality of a song written when high? Absolutely the quality. And we have a Perfect Song Writer so he'd definitely write it. So, try again, what type of song can a Perfect Song Writer not write? I really restraining myself from insulting your intelligence. You didnt even bother to think about what you read in my comment. I gave you a clear example of a song that came about from a random event. You can't sit down and write it because it is not something that could be thought about. A random epiphany. There is an episode of the Flintstones that had Fred Flinstone become a music superstar by accident. A rock or hammer fell on his leg and he started shouting "ay ay ay Iyogi ay ay ay". His friend loved the sound and it became a music hit. What kind of song writer would be able to sit down and compose "iyogi ay ay ay ay"? As for the weed or cocaine high, it is unique to every individual. Vybz Kartel smokes weed and becomes a philosopher poet. Kid Kudi takes drugs and becomes a suicidal poet. A great song writer could not write what another person sees in the haze of highness. |

I've been waiting to hear something like this. This requires a great deal of critical thinking to understand not our primary school definition of perfection.
That's my problem with the 4 words I mentioned above. I said something like that too. |

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 11:14am On May 07, 2016 |
Reyginus: Let's say I'm a perfect song writer are there any kind of song I cannot write? 1) By what standards are you perfect in song writing? 2) Well, you couldn't compose harmonic cacophony. 3) You couldn't compose what a high on weed or cocaine can compose. Some people do some random mixes/remixes (mashups) of different and it works sometimes. It is not something you can sit down and write. It comes by mistake or trial and error. Take for instance, some guys started saying "mmbop.....mmbop" and it became the chorus of a great song. It is not something they wrote. It just came randomly and they realised that it sounded good. Here are the lyrics of the chorus of the song- -mmbop..pa-pa...mmbop......heyi.ye..i..ye.....mmbop. What about the popular scatman song? "Pirapaparopo....I'm the scatman" |

hahn: Well, we as humans keep seeking for perfection but have never found it. I think that is perfection in itself. On a flip side, perfection can never exist because it will always be improved upon. What might seem perfect today will eventually become archaic tomorrow.
We just said the same thing. Lol I see your point now. Sorry, I thought you were saying something different before. |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 10:56am On May 07, 2016 |
Reyginus: I think Perfection can only be a flaw to the imperfect and we can never decide what is morally good from the morally inferior. I think you are wrong. Your comment only proves my point further. If we are imperfect beings, how good is perfection to us? Wouldn't we as imperfect beings desire for imperfect things due to our imperfect nature? We would see perfection and it wouldn't satisfy us. We would see it as inadequate to our nature. Perfection for humans will be a flawed concept since we are imperfect by nature. Just like the perfect indomie, we love cooking it the imperfect way (different from the instructions on the pack) because of time and resources. Have you ever measured the water with proper utensils before cooking indomie? Do you use all the sauce when cooking 4 or more packs of indomie? Given that we are imperfect, how are we to understand a perfect God. How is he supposed to make sense to us when we can't relate to him? Human morality is not perfectly black and white (good vs bad), it is sometimes grey, in which there is no correct answer. How are we then going to live with the perfect morality a God supposedly gave us through holy books? |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 10:46am On May 07, 2016 |
hahn: Your comment is more of a probability than a possibility.
Personally, I feel it is the other way round. Imperfection is a sign of perfection Its a common phrase and yet, not true. Imperfection can never be a sign of perfection because you already know that it is a flaw and not perfect. but perfection on the other hand, is never enough. There is always better. |

urahara: Have observed that after u came back to nairaland just recently , u are not as an envangelical as u used to be.. Well, I received a lot of unfair abuse and bans during my evangelical days. Nairaland was not always fair to atheists then. And I was not perfect myself- I used anger to react to the bias and then, the biased people use the anger as a retroactive justification for the ban. I was even betrayed by one of my disciples. So yeah. I just do the little I can these days. |
