KingEbukasBlog: You see that is an opinion which have not been proven to be true . It does not actually preclude God's perfect nature . This is quite ironic seeing how you pull phrases like "God's perfect nature" out of your azz. How do you know that God is perfect? Even your own God says that he is a jealous God. Thou shalt have no other Gods before me?? Why?? God can't bare the fact that some people prefer Zeus and Buddha? However, that is besides the point. The fact remains that it is logically impossible to defend or even imagine something that is "all-perfect". Such a thing cannot exist. Perfection in one area usually means imperfection in another area as we have demonstrated here. If someone is perfectly good, that means that he cannot do a lesser evil in order to stop a bigger evil. For instance, you're in the north as a christian and there are boko haram terrorists going around killing christians. Unfortunately, a boko haram member gets lost and finds his way to your hideout. You hear him cursing christians and infidels, and by chance, he sees you guys hiding through your window. He brings out his phone to call his other members........
.....the right thing to do is to kill him or at least, knock him unconscious. However, he will fight to the death, so killing is the most likely action. Would a perfectly moral person kill him? No, the perfectly moral person would either try to reason with the terrorist or run. Both of which will get the perfectly moral person killed |

The Logic boy eehhhhhhhhh ! ! ! dblackninja: Hmmm LB I think you should stop all these type of statements/questions cause clearly not everybody understand them. But since you wanna know whether you're right..yes you are!
The greatest perfection is imperfection This may sound gibberish..but it's not. It takes a quite lot of reasoning to actually understand that.
You cannot have perfection..without imperfection. A question may arise why?
I don't know how best to answer this but let me try and relate it with our understanding... one of the most impressive qualities of any object or person or a company is its ability to improve.
That means it is difficult to say that anything is perfect, unless it can also get better in the future. So how then could it be perfect if it's missing that vital attribute?
So if it is perfect, it must also therefore be imperfect at the same time.
Hope am understood The japanese have a concept called Kaizen. It means continuous improvement. You try to improve yourself everyday. A oerfect person would fail at such a philosophy A perfect person would remain stagnant while someone who is imperfect has room to improve. There is always better. |

KingEbukasBlog: Simple : When I'm perfect at something I know when someone is not doing it right . E.g
1. A perfect cook can easily detect an insipid meal , tasteless , not up to accepted standard .
2. A perfect gentleman knows a rogue or tout or a misogynist
Instead imperfection can understand perfection . Imperfection tries to obviate flaws , producing perfection
1.A bad cook can copy the perfect cook in order to do it right
2.A tout would want to be well mannered ,stop being uncouth and try to be a perfect gentleman
THat's why we look at a perfect God to guide us to perfection .
Matthew 5 : 28 "Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. " - God is a quintessence of perfection , we look unto him to know we are not doing it right . He as a perfect being knows we aint doing it right so he wants us to strive to be like him
Logicboy you dey fall my hand big time ! 1) A perfect cook cannot cook an imperfect meal. 99.9% of Nigerians cook indomie imperfectly and we love it that way. No one follows the direction on the pack because you would use more water. Also, when cooking more than 3 packs of indomie, most people will use n-1 (1 less) bag of sauce. If one was to cook indomie perfectly, he would not only follow the exact directions on the indomie pack but also use the given amount of sauce. Which we don't. 2) Some women love arrogance and rough behaviours. They love the bad boys. Olamide has girlfriends doesnt he? Orubebe is married and Floyd Mayweather with his toutishness and misogyny has babymamas. A perfect gentleman can be boring. Chris Brown beat Rihanna but the love dey strong. Perfection comes with its own problems. |

UyiIredia: You just dey yarn nonsense. Omnipotence, I repeat, is not contradictory. All of God's abilities are in harmony. None contradict. lol. Do you think you are making sense? You are just making empty statements with no proof or back up. How do you arrive at omnipotence not being contradictory? At least, many scholars or philosophers use a logical approach to define omnipotence and reach a conclusion that it is a paradox because you cant do everything. You on the other hand, just somehow know without seeing or asking God or using any logic, that God's abilities are all in harmony. Some religious people amaze me. |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 6:04pm On May 06, 2016 |
UyiIredia: Why will you say God's omnipotence is contradictory when it's not. You've not brought forth evidence that it is. Furthermore by suggesting that it means one can do everything you show you completely misunderstand what it is. God omnipotence is to show His power supersedes that of all of creation since He made it. It doesn't mean He can do everything since God's omnipotence is bound by the laws of logic. 1) How do you know that God or his omnipotence is not bound by logic? Are you not pulling that out of your behind as an ultimate escape card? Wouldn't that make God illogical if he is not bound by logic? 2) Omnipotence is contradictory. It is impossible to be all powerful. There are things God can not do. Some of his abilities will negate other abilities. |

Richirich713: I don't know , It should be more dry, it should be electrically program to sumhow change its properties at the last second to avoid some1 slipping.
U contradicting urself when u say, a being that has no flaws, has flaws since he has no flaws. It's again like taking about squares with 3 sides.
As I said : "Again Maximum greatest, perfection by definition means no flaws".
"God is a maximally great being, he possesses all qualities that are better to have aka great making properties. Flaws are not better to have, like for real it's called flaws for a reason".
I'm talking about a maximally great being, not perfection in one property, perfection in one property ain't maximal greatness.
U see the problem is mr good has flaws , he's not maximally great in all properties better to have. He's only perfectly good. He's not a maximally great being meaning by definition he has flaws and he does, he's not all-knowing nor is he all powerful.
If he was all powerful he could easily stop Boko haram, if he was omniscient he could easily stop Boko haram.
How does being omnipotent make God evil and illogical? Also having power doesn't corrupt beings that has no flaws, it's only corrupts humans who have flaws like being greedy and power hungry.
Don't see how this has anything to do with the omnipotent paradox.
Yeah power can be dangerous, doesn't mean it's a flaw. All depends on how u use it.
Nope the existence of God is so logical that his existence can be proved by logic alone. I can now see the problem. You essentially do not understand what a paradox is, especially a logical paradox. This is why such a simple bit of logic is not registering with you. I clearly stated that perfection is a paradox. Perfection means having no flaws but that itself can be a flaw. ^^^ If you can not see the simple paradoxical logic in the above statement, there is no hope for further discussion. You do realise that being perfect in one thing, sometimes means that you are not perfect in another thing? |

Richirich713: Again Maximum greatest, perfection by definition means no flaws. God can't create a square with 3 sides cuz a square by definition must have 4 sides.
Imagine a perfectly smooth floor. It is perfect. Flawless. But it is also dangerous because it will likely be very slippery compared to one that is not as smooth.
Exactly the floor aint perfect since it lacks other properties. God is perfect in all properties better to have, his a maximally great being. What other properties should a floor have? Again, you are ignorant on what a paradox is. A paradox is a statement that contradicts itself but yet might be true. Perfection is a paradox. Perfection means "no flaws" but then again, perfection itself can be a flaw. A good example is a perfectly moral person (let's call him Mr. Godd). This Mr. Godd can not lie, cheat or steal. Imagine that there are Boko Haram killers at the door of Mr. Godd who is hiding christians in a secret compartment that no one can find. If the Boko Haram killers ask Mr. Godd if there are any christians in his house, Mr. Godd cannot lie. He will condemn the christians to their death with the truth. If you were a christian hiding in Mr Godd's house, wouldnt you think that Mr. Godd's perfection is a flaw that would get you killed? Too much of anything is bad. Perfection is too good to be good. Your God is too powerful and that makes him conceptually illogical and evil. As we all know, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We can see how your God used his powers to flood the world. How he burnt Sodom and Gomorrah. Just look at the power you have over an ant- one false step and the ant is flattened. Power is dangerous. At the end of the day, who God's omnipotence don epp? Who God don epp? |

Richirich713: No I'm admitting nothing, just telling like it is. Using God omnipotence against him is not logical.
Not having any flaw is a flaw in itself? What?
God is a maximally great being, he possesses all qualities that are better to have aka great making properties. Flaws are not better to have, like for real it's called flaws for a reason. Not having a flaw is a flaw in itself. It seems that you do not understand what a paradox is. Imagine a perfectly smooth floor. It is perfect. Flawless. But it is also dangerous because it will likely be very slippery compared to one that is not as smooth. A flaw, like a problem, can be a blessing in disguise. ================== Your God's omnipotence is actually his greatest flaw. Killed by his own perfection. Too much of anything is bad. Your God has too much power which made him illogical. Your God is sooo powerful that he can't kill himself. He knows so much that he can't be ignorant but if he can't be ignorant, he can't know the experience of being ignorant. |

Richirich713: Omnipotent - Means almighty in power, it doesn't mean the ability to do anything.
It's one of the flaws of being human, I can also not exist, I can also kill myself. God doesn't have any flaws, he's the greatest possible being. Are you indirectly admitting that there are things your almighty God cannot do? I also hope that you realise that perfection too is a flaw? Not having any flaw is a flaw in itself? |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 3:48am On May 06, 2016 |
Richirich713: Nope I put square circles and 3 sided squares to show u how illogical questions look since it's seems u not familiar with them.
Lol Any human being can break his own arm, any human being can stop existing, that's the flaws of being a human being.
Asking "Can God created a stone so heavy that even he can't move " is logically incoherent. U can't put God's omnipotence against himself
God cannot do the logical impossible dear aka nonsensical logical absurdities. You made two important statements 1) U can't put God's omnipotence against himself2) God cannot do the logical impossible dear aka nonsensical logical absurdities. Here is my reply to those statements 1) You are admitting that God's omnipotence can't look itself in the mirror. This means that it can't stand an unbiased reflection of itself. It can't live up to scrutiny. This is why I say that omnipotence is a self-refuting contradiction. It is impossible to be able to do everything. 2) You said that God cannot do the logically impossible. Creating a rock that you cannot carry is not logically impossible- it is a very easy task for a human being. |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Nigerian Secular Philosophy! by JackBizzle: 3:19am On May 06, 2016 |
Richirich713: Lol you ain't refuting God ? u refuting urself. It's takes a special kind of ignorance not to see how illogical it is to ask - "can God created a stone so heavy that even he can't move".
It's like asking :
• can an omnipotent being create a square with three sides? • can an omnipotent being tell u the shape of purple ? • can an omnipotent being create a square-circle? • can an omnipotent will himself out of existence? • "who created God ", in other words " what caused a uncaused thing"
We call such things logical absurdities aka nonsense. Square-circles, 3 sided squares, shape of purple isn't logically coherent, it's just a bunch of words mimicking a actual logical coherent sentence. One of these things is not like the others -It is impossible to create a square with 3 sides. A square doesnt have 3 sides -It is impossible to state the shape of purple. Purple has no shape -It is impossible to create a square circle. A square cannot be a circle -It is possible to make a rock that you can't carry. The rock just has to be heavier than your energyYou can see that your analogy is seriously faulty. Any human being can make a rock that he or she can not carry. It must be heavier than their energy can handle. Square-circles and 3 sided squares are just ridiculous strawmen you put to derail the argument. |
