I read a news where a young man was shot in the early hours of Thursday and University of Ibadan teaching hospital rejected him, on going round Ibadan that night, he died, that Saturday was supposed to be his wedding.
The law says a hospital should report stabbing and gun shot wound to the police within 2 hours of treatment.
I am also aware that criminals can invade a hospital especially if it was cult clash to disrupt the hospital, but does this mean innocent people should continue to die?

I was a victim of a similar case. This time it was a stab victim, a man stabbed in the external carotid artery with a scissors by his girlfriend. They rushed him in by 11pm. Already he was bleeding out and already in decompensated shock. I did all I can but dude succumbed. By 7am police came to the hospital to arrest me. My crime? I didn't alert them of the case early enough. I told them I was the only doctor in the hospital on night duty and I couldn't have left all the very sick patients just to start looking for the nearest police station by 12am when I don't even know that area(the hospital is at Eleme and I live in Port Harcourt). All my pleas fell on deaf ears. I refused to follow them for the arrest. They said when they return they would come with armed mopol. They left. I hurriedly left after them. I didn't even hand over to the morning doc. By 9am the hospital Secretary called me that they came with armed cops to forcefully arrest me.
Now tell me if you are me what you would do the next time a stab or gunshot patient show up?
The problem is still the Nigerian police. Their low cadre staff harass and intimidate Hospital staff who treat these victims. They should ensure they themselves fully comply. NMA and Ministry of Health alerted them to these issues of harassment for them to look into it

So u work in a hospital that don't have any other staff apart from u the doctor on night duty?
U work in a hospital that can't reach out to the police station?
The big is, how did the police find out that you treated a patient that was stabbed by 7am?
The law is written that you should notify the police within 2 hours of treating a gunshot wound or stabbed patient, did u notify them?
There's a popular teaching by Confucius, it says "let the ruler rule as he should, let the minister be a minister as he should, let the father be a father as he should, let the son be a son as he should, only then will the social order be sustained".
The police force is fiIIed illiterates who thinks flexing muscles makes them important, I am not disputing that, the big question here is, did u behave the way u are supposed to behave?
If u contacted them within two hours, would they have the right to come and tell u anything?
If u had followed the time they came, would they have come back with armed police men?

It's a law that a patient with gunshot wound must be treated, it's a law passed by the Senate and hospitals who reject such patients shall be dealth with according to the law.
The IGP issued a signed statement, "mere police statement" won't solve it, when one or two hospitals are dragged to the court and made to paid heavily for damages, doctors has their license withdrawn then the issue will be solved.
Most people in Nigeria get mistreated because they can't leverage on their rights.
