Good write-up.

Unfortunately, the contents are mere wishes and dreams as far as today's Nigeria is concerned. It is the dream and aspiration of every one of us to be what we can be wherever we reside and whatever endeavour we want to undertake, but has that been possible in reality? No.

Let's be sincere to ourselves here. Nigeria is not matured for "Every where is home" situation yet. Until then, "to your tents oh! Nigerians". grin grin

@jamace. I believe every Nigerian has the right to contest any post as long as he was born and has resided in that area.

Aba South and Aba North LGA in Abia state has never been ruled by indigenes because non-indegenes comprise the majority. If a popular indigene contests he will still win.
My brother, I'm not disproving that paper fact that every Nigerian has the right to contest any post as long he/she was born and resides there. You must understand that Nigeria is not yet ripe for "any where is home". The Yorubas, Igbos, Efiks, Urhobos (just name them) residing in Jos and who has political ambitions go back to their states of origin to actualise their dreams. For instance, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is even more jos than some Jos indigenes but to actualise his political dreams he went back to his State of origin (Imo) to do that. Why can't the H/F do same?

For your information, Aba North and Aba South in Abia State are inter-state boundaries LGAs in which cases we have dual identity indigenes of Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom States respectively, and in that case, any of the indigenes can be the ruler. The Jos case is not like that. From one of the Reports on Jos crises I read, the indigents of Jos are the Beroms (which form the majority), the Afizeres and the Anaragutas. Same report stated that H/F came to Jos for enterprise just like the Yorubas, the Igbos, the Efiks etc. Of these sojourners, Why is it only the H/F that are causing trouble because they want to own a LGA in Jos?

If you insist that every Nigerian has the right to be whatever he wants to be wherever he is in Nigeria, why do we still talk of zoning, quota system, rotation, state of origin and the federal character commission?

Abagworo, please, tell your H/F brothers to leave Jos politics for Plateau indigents to avoid further shedding of innocent bloods. If the H/F have lost their roots and need accommodation they should do it humbly, not by fire by force.

Politics › Re: Igbo Christians In Jos - A Must Read by jamace(m): 9:48am On Jan 13, 2011
The crisis in Jos is further aggravated by the fact that the H/F has hired mercenaries who can not distinguish between a Berom man and an Igbo man, Yoruba man, Tiv man or an Urhobo man etc. These other trbes are masacred along with the Beroms. Therein, lies the complication in the crises.

I think Jang should be blamed for this mess.He does not want to recognize the fact that Hausas are majority in Jos North. It all started as a political crisis.

Jos crisis: Time for sobber reflection!
By SANI GARBA KARAYE
The recent political crisis, a fall out of the local government election that turns out to become religious mayhem in Jos came at the time to everybody as a shock, when peace is the reality we need to make our country advance further economically, technologically and socially.
It all started as a result of the decision of Plateau state government to use the state electoral commission (PLASIEC) to upturn the elections of opposition parties who had won in some local governments, by declaring PDP as the winner.
The local government election was conducted on 26th November, 2008, and the following day people are expecting to know the exact results, instead, PDP was declared to have swept the elections in 17 local governments.
For instance, in Jos North, where there are 20 wards, and 16 wards results were announced, which the opposition ANPP is leading. But the ruling PDP, sensing its imposed candidate cannot make it, decided to stop announcement of the results and said more results are coming, hence truncating the announcement of the remaining results.
This greatly infuriated the members of the other parties contesting in the elections and before you said Jang! PDP, using state government machineries deployed its arsenal to deal with those who wanted to defend their rights.
It is a well known fact that Jos north is inhabited by Hausa/Muslims who are in the majority and had never had a local government election since 2001, because, according to the then governor, they were not  indigenes, hence, they would not be allowed to contest any election, sensing that no matter what, they would win.
Since then, they have only caretaker chairman up to the coming of the current governor by name Jonah Jang.
The governor has not only associated with this posture, he further makes it a state policy, that no Hausa/Muslim should be appointed or elated in his government, and wherever they are, they would be frustrated and destroyed.
Based on these, Governor Jang ensured that the person contesting under PDP for the Jos North chairmanship is not only Christian, but hand-picked one Mr. Timothy Buba from his ethnic background, painfully of Jos South extraction, outside his territory, all other candidates in PDP were sent packing and never considered.
On the other hand ANPP fielded Hausa/Muslim, who has large following and supporters, but these notwithstanding, he was declared loser despite his earlier lead in the poll.
The way people of Jos North and other places were denied of their mandate, and the innocent people killed, maimed, burnt and displaced with the aid of uniformed men, shows the tacit approval of Jonah Jang, more so, with his unconcern attitude in giving support to victims of the mayhem. Instead, the controversial governor went to the state media accusing others as responsible for the crisis.
Jonah Jang’s administration is fully aware that Jos North is no go area for PDP and his anointed candidate, Mr. Timothy Buba, the local government being the hottest seat and the commercial nerve centre of the state and as such prepared to make sure his candidate scale through by whatever means, hence his deployment of uniformed men to kill [shoot at sight] people recklessly, simply because the people protested against the snatch of their mandate.
Many worship places were burnt, properties of innocent people were damage. Yet, no politician was touched, or any party secretariat burnt. And those killed are innocent, including students; all in the name of claiming a stolen mandate.
This mayhem is far from being political; it is pre-planned with the active connivance of Governor Jonah Jang, his ethnic co-travellers, and these so-called religious fanatics of CAN, which claimed that their perceived enemies, mainly Hausa/Muslim had taken over the commercial activities of the state, eventhough they are non-indigenes, and must be eliminated no matter what, and they, instead, decided to use local government election period to perpetrate their acts.
How can you describe the way uniformed men act [an issue confirmed by community leader, Shehu Ashaka, Sunday Trust, 30/11/2008, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Leadership Sunday, 1/12/2008], in the way they killed and burnt people’s house, the state government indifference to the plight of innocent people, and the lackluster attitude of the central government, which only responded to the crisis after many lives were lost and properties destroyed.
Before now, Jos is a place to visit, live and transact business, but now, with the coming of democracy, the city is shadow of its former self. The former state governor, Dariye and co had never hidden his disdain to eliminate and make Hausa/Muslims an outcast, the same thing the current governor undertake with vigour, and in fact elevate it to state policy.
Jang came with two missions, being from Berom tribe, the first is Beromisation of Plateau, then Christianising Plateau. The way to achieve these is, first, by eliminating those perceived to be enemies of the two missions through whatever way.
Unfortunately, the Jasawa were never allowed to contest in elections, clipping their business by instigating crises, divide and rule using religious sentiment, etc, as the recent crisis shows, where by the lives, properties and business of mainly Hausa/Muslims and few others were torched; all in an effort to make them weaker, poorer and beggars, and in the long run to leave the city, to allow the so called indigenes reclaim their lands.
No place in the North, that Hausa/Muslims are hated to the core like Plateau state; they are denied certificate of indigeneship, admission to state institutions, denied employment opportunities, and any form of support. Their offence is that, they are Muslims. And now, with the coming of Jang, the moves further appreciated to a great length in collaboration with his lieutenants.
It is an open secret that, CAN has its own soldiers, who are participating in many religious crises as they posed as policemen, yet they use their uniform to kill, burn and destroy people’s properties.
It is only in Plateau that neither the deputy governor nor the secretary to the state government is Muslim, even in the state executive council there is only one person from the Hausa clan.
Some may cite Buhari Bello, who was secretary to the state government for a year. Nevertheless, he was removed because the power that be in the state consider it non- sense for Jang to allow Muslim to be his secretary in a state they see and regard as ‘Christians empire’, hence Bello’s redeployment to local government service commission, perhaps before his final discharge! Yet, in states where Christian’s population is low compared to the number of Muslims in Plateau, they do get either deputy governor, secretary or both, Kaduna, Gombe, Nassarwa, Kwara states are some examples.
The challenge before Hausa/Muslim community in Plateau is that, they should put their house in order and defend themselves against any future attacks on them, as the current state government, would never defend them. They must make sure all their properties destroyed are compensated by the state government.
To the Muslim leaders, the time for calling people to embrace peace after they were cheated is over, they should come and defend their followers no matter what, for the humiliation, suffering and embarrassment is enough to the Muslim ummah in Plateau.
A stitch in time saves nine.
Sani Garba, writes from Karaye Local Government, Kano state.

When I read this as at 2008 I advised all Igbos to leave because Hausas will never forgive these Berom people. The way hundreds of Hausas were slaughtered and some nairalanders back then were praising beromites got me astonished. The only solution now is to allow  the Berom and Hausa to finish their fight.
@Abagworo, you made this same comment on another thread yesterday and I countered it. Maybe, you did not see my contribution. See below:

Quote
This is absolute crap. This whole crisis was avoidable.Go to Nairaland archive and you will see where I complained then that the Hausas who are majority should be allowed to rule Jos North while the Beroms rule South but the Governor is a fool and wanted to install a Berom by force. The best thing is for all Nigerians to withdraw and let Hausa/Fulani fight with Berom and whoever wins takes the land. That is the only possible solution.
That is wrong, my brother. What you are saying there is like saying that every place in Nigeria in which the Hausa/Fulani are dominant in population,  should be accorded a Hausa /Fulani Local Govt Area, even if it is in Enugu State (Awkunanu area), Ogun State (Shagamu area), Lagos (Mile 2 or so) etc.

Be informed that the Hausa/Fulani are sojourners in Jos just like the Igbos, the Yorubas, the Igalas, the Urhobos etc. But trust the political instinct of the typical H/F to lord it over local inhabitants because they marry 4 wives and can produce kids faster than rabbits, thereby having a higher population over those with one wife.

Forget the fact that our constitution says every Nigerian has the right to be whatever he wants to be in any part of Nigeria in which he/she resides. That is only on paper. I'm yet to see a Yoruba man claiming right to political position in Kano. I'm yet to see an Igbo man agitating for political position in Ondo State. I have not also seen any igala man claiming political relevance in Oyo State. Presently, the political setting we have in Nigeria is indigents of a state have the political rights to occupy political positions in the state while sojourners face their business or whatever profession brought them there. Jos, Plateau State should therefore not be an exception.

Before I forget, I think the indigents of Plateau State made a costly mistake in the first instance by giving political positions to the Hausa/Fulani in their government. As I type, a H/F is the deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly. There are other H/F who are commissioners in Plateau State. It is with this liberal disposition of the indigents of Plateau State that gave the H/F the audacity to start claiming equal right to lands and political positions in Plateau State.

Finally, I want the federal govt to intervene. The FG should tell the H/F bluntly to leave political administration of Jos to indigents of Plateau State just like it is in other states in the federation. Any H/F itching for political power should go to his state of origin and do so.

Note: I'm not an indigent of Plateau State. I'm only a political observer.

@Abagworo, do kindly respond to this.
