Politics › Suspect In Weapon Intercepted At Apapa Wharf, Seek Refuge In Iranian Embassy by jamace(op): 7:19am On Oct 30, 2010 |
Suspect in Weapon Intercepted @ Apapa Wharf, Seek Refuge in Iranian Embassy huhuadmin User Rating: / 0 PoorBest Huhuonline.com can disclose that the mastermind of the arsenal of weapon intercepted at the Apapa Wharf, yesterday, has gone into hiding. The man identified by huhuonline.com impeccable security sources, is an Iranian business man, who has chains
of business. However, our finding has revealed that the suspect is not licensed to deal in arm in the federal republic of Nigeria. For security reasons, huhuonline.com is not allowed to disclose his name, but can reveal that the illegal arms dealer has sought temporary residence at the Iranian Embassy in Nigeria.
When asked about their guest, an Iranian Embassy official confirmed he was with them, but refused to say, if he would be handed over to Nigerian security agency. The customs agents, who were in cahoots with the arms dealer, have been arrested. Now, the Nigerian security agencies, which launched a manhunt, Tuesday, are barred from entering the embassy premises to arrest him.
According to article 22 of Vienna convention on diplomatic relations, which Nigeria and Iran are signatories,“The premises of a diplomatic mission, such as an embassy, are inviolate and must not be entered by the host country except by permission of the head of the mission. Furthermore, the host country must protect the mission from intrusion or damage. The host country must never search the premises, nor seize its documents or property”.
Huhuonline.com understands that the discovery of these arms has sent shockwaves across Nigerian security agencies, as the weapons intercepted are considered to be highly sophisticated, and are used mainly in operations of mass destruction or war. However, the National Security Adviser, Gen. Aziza, who visited Apapa Wharf, today, said the government was alarmed at the volume of the arms intercepted and promised that a thorough investigation will be carried out. Continuing, Azazi said, “At this point, the only thing we can say is that we have some armaments that were discovered at the port by the security agencies. We do not want to make any conclusion about what caliber of ammunition, where they are going or where they are coming from.
“We need a lot of verification and at the end of the day Nigerians will know what the issue is all about. Let us not jump into conclusion”. “We have discovered them and we will do whatever is required to make sure that everybody is protected. I think the SSS has a very good procedure and that is why these containers could not go unchecked.” As huhuonline.com previously reported, the State Security Service (SSS) intercepted containers loaded with rocket launchers, grenades and other explosives in the main port of Lagos, weeks after deadly car bomb attacks in the capital Abuja.
According to the SSS spokeswoman, Marilyn Ogar the 13 containers were intercepted in Apapa Wharf, as part of tightened security measures introduced after the Oct. 1st bomb blast. Continuing, Ogar said, “On opening the first container, the service operatives discovered rocket launchers, grenades and other explosives,” “The weapons were concealed among crates of floor tiles and the paperwork indicated that the shipment was made up of building materials”. The other containers were still being searched, Mrs. Ogar added http://huhuonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2201:weapon-apapa-warf-suspect-seek-refuge-in-iranian-embassy&catid=103:more-news |

There is absolutely no reason why the criminal who imported these bombs shouldn't be apprehended. On the Bill of Lading, the name of the consignee will be boldly written, and if no name is there, the notify party's name i.e the bank that processed the Form M name will be written. The official can start their investigation from the bank that processed the Form M and the risk assessment report RAR.
Finally, the agent responsible for the clearing of course knows the contact person that gave him the Bill of lading and other documents. Its the simplest investigation that can be carried out.
Even if the culprits are at large, at least they can be identified and soon they will be caught.
I dont expect the security agents to waste time on this one at all. These are great hints. But would our security agencies do the right thing or be allowed to do the right thing? |

Hey people, let's get GEJ right.
GEJ is simply appealing to his people to cooperate with him in moving Nigeria forward.
He is only saying "common guys, you are my brothers and sisters, I should feel freer amongst you than any other group in Nigeria. I shouldn't need these number of security men when am in your midst. Please, give me your support so that I can succeed in the leadership of this country because when I succeed, you have succeeded and if I fail, it will be your failure".
This was just a brotherly talk. |

You have all spoken (written?or posted?) well.
you guys seems to be in touch with the reality that can help save and shape this country for the better.
genuine progress has eluded Nigeria because of our collective inability to face reality where it matters most.
we feel threatened by reality so we make every excuses, in most cases starting with accusations (and outright attack) of perceived opponents (enemies), whipping up sentiments on simple issues to garner sectional or tribal sympathy(ies), crying wolf where there is none, covering a clear atmosphere with dust of selfish sentiments; masking the main issues and finally loosing track of the real situation that need to be corrected - thereby making bad situations worse, just to keep our kin in (or on ?) power.
what is the result? all of us are paying for it.
backlog of unsolved issues, more confusion, weak leadership, weak followership, sycophancy, weak institutions, manipulations, corruption, laziness, buck passing, retrogression, illiteracy, unemployable graduates, unemployment, poverty, hunger, begging, thuggery, area boys (also area fathers, papas, babas, and mamas) unpatriotism, lying, accusations and counter accusations, militancy, rigging, ballot snatching, religious crises, ethnic crises, stealing in churches and mosques, robbery, bribery, bombing, kidnapping, molestation of innocent citizens, brutality, killing, self-pity, cheating, injustice, poor renumerations, strikes, death traps in place of roads, diseases, religion without spiritualism, unrighteousness, unfaithfulness etc, etc, , (excuse my use of verb tenses here).
The earlier we turn to reality, face it, do the do ables, accept our weaknesses and work on them, the better for us collectively; otherwise we would just wake up one day (if we are lucky -or unlucky- to be among the living) and Nigeria, the country we have built on falsehood, deceit and fabrications will be no more; it has been overtaken by reality. Then it will be too late to turn back the hand of time.
Remember, deceit can only make flowers but can not bear fruits! you blind supporters of gej (and others) please be warned. The bolded are cancers caused by previous regimes. It will take time to heal them. Those saying GEJ is weak should seriously educate themselves on the differences between a democratic government and an autocratic or dictatorial style of governance. GEJ can not act like RAMBO in a democratic set-up. |

Come o. Why are women and children the perpetual victims in Jos crises? Where were the men when all the killings took place? I'm forced to withdraw my sympathy for these Plateau people due to the lackaidaisical attitude of the MEN . They have failed to muster themselves and deal ruthlessly with the nuisance Hausa/Fulanis in their midst. It shows the men have no common purpose and therefore not organised. Common, I'm fed-up. |

The discovery of weapons in our port is not a joking matter. This issue should be of paramount interest to all Nigerians and GEJ in particular.
The way it is now, it is clear our leaders have gotten second homes abroad to flee to incase of "Area scatter". But I'm sure the masses have learnt from previous war and other crises to reject being used by our leaders as cannon feeders.
While I may not want to point accusing fingers at any group with regards to this importation of arms into this country, the threatening utterances of people like Ciroma and other Northern elements must not be waved aside.
Like some one said, I believe our security agencies know who the importers are but lack the will/gut to deal with such crookedly intimidating personalities.
Uncle GEJ must not spare any security chief found to be concealing information from him and in any way aiding and abbetting those who wants to tear Nigeria apart in an inglorious manner. |
