Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo in his autobiography had opened a can of worms on many major stakeholders in the country. One part of the book, My Watch shines light on the nation’s only Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, whom the elder statesman described as “a self- serving critic” who always loved to take the lead on all matters. He wrote: “For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him, His friends and loved ones will always be right and correct no matter what they do or fail to do.” Obasanjo described Soyinka as “a misfit as a political analyst, commentator or critic,” adding that it was good that Mr. Soyinka did not go into politics. “He is surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful “aparo” (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic, not to talk of what he would do as a politician,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “I take him seriously on almost all issues except on the political particularly Nigerian politics.” He however thinks the Nobel Laurate has calmed down recently after he turned 80. Obasanjo finally wrote: “If I go before him, I will bid him welcome when he arrives at the great beyond. Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, a member of Board of Trustees, BoT of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has promised that Ndigbo would still vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 presidential election, despite lack of federal presence in the Southeast geo-political zone. Vanguard reports that Ezeonwuka, on Friday advised that in as much as Ndigbo has already made up their minds to vote massively for Jonathan in 2015, the President on his part should be ready to reach an accord with Ndigbo in order for him to have the guarantee for Igbo votes. He, however, lamented that for over 15 years the PDP has been in power, it failed to maintain Eastern roads built within only four years by the Shehu Shagari administration. “We will vote for Jonathan on the condition that he has to speed up the second Niger Bridge project, maintain Eastern roads, give us uninterrupted power supply and ensure federal presence in the Southeast region,” Ezeonwuka said. The APGA chieftain further stated that the party as an Igbo party has already endorsed Jonathan for the second tenure, despite of all odds. He noted that it is now left for President Jonathan to reciprocate the gesture by swinging into action to fulfill his own part of the deal when he starts his second tenure. |

Men are officialy more stupid than women, according to a 20 year study of the Darwin Awards. The research was published in the British Medical Journal in an article called Darwin Awards: sex differences in idiotic behaviour. A two decade examination of the Darwin Awards – an annual review of cases where people died in exceptionally stupid ways – has found that males make up 90 per cent of the ‘winners’. The research conducted by Newcastle University suggested ‘male idiot theory’, MIT, that is to blame for such high level of ‘stupid’ male deaths. It implies that ‘men are idiots, and idiots do stupid things’. In the 332 cases analysed since 1995, 282 involved men dying easily avoidable deaths, whereas only 36 women died in doing stupid things (14 cases involved both men and women and were therefore discounted). However, the researchers say that men are willing to take such unnecessary risks in pursuit of male social esteem or solely in exchange for ‘bragging rights’ (the rights granted to a person that allow him to boast to a certain extent without dispraise from others.) Some Darwin Winners: The terrorist who unthinkingly opened his own letter bomb on its return after he posted it with insufficient stamps. The General Overseer of Galilee Christian Center in Lagos, Prophet Williams Onuoha, has predicted that the current governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, would become Nigeria’s president in 2015. According to him, for this to happen, Okorocha would have to adhere to God’s direction, adding that only a running mate from the South West region can give him the presidency. In a recent interview with Daily Sun, Onuoha, who is seen and referred to by many who attend his church as a highly gifted prophet of God, said he saw the vision in 2011 and now it’s coming to pass. In 2011, I saw in a vision that the present governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha will be president in 2015. And in one of the national dailies recently, the governor said he would be president in 2015 and that it had been prophesied. True. I had seen this vision, but there are things that needs to be done before this prophesy can come to pass and one of them is that only a running mate from the South West region can give him the presidency. “I have never met the governor before. When he said last week in the papers that he would become president in 2015 and that it had been prophesied, I was not surprised. What I saw in 2011, the governor said in 2014. God is truly wonderful,” the prophet said. Onuoha said he had predicted the global economic meltdown and that a black man will become president of the United States. He explained that he has made so many revelations and all have come to pass. The man of God said: “Three weeks to when the Ebola virus came into Nigeria I had told my members to pray seriously so that the country can escape the calamity that was to befall her. We did pray and by His grace we escaped. “I feel it is time to free this country from the grip of the devil and his agents. Look at our youths; they lack direction. This is because the head is corrupt. When the head is corrupt the body will definitely be corrupt. |
