defashan: Jews control businesses and multinational corporations? They are into I.T., manufacturing, Banking and Finance, Top entertainment industries, military hardware and above all politics.
Do ibos control multinational corporations, Do they control businesses? I’m not talking about a man opening his small store at Alaba or ladipo otherwise I’ll be comparing Jews to Asians ‘off license’ shop just around the corner or his kebab shop!!, are ibos into manufacturing? I don’t mean copying and coupling fake goods at Aba.
Are ibos controlling the banking industry in Nigeria let alone Africa? The corporate headquarters of fidelity bank and diamond can not compare to a branch of GTB?
Ogundes, Jacobs were doing big things in the cinemas and Hollywoods ‘reel time’ when the Edochies and ozokwos were learning how to speak.
Do ibos manufacture military hardwares? No, an aboki from the north can teach a UNN physics professor how to couple a few wires to make a big bang...fact. Have you heard of Defense industry Corp? It’s in kaduna. They make all sorts of weapons. Can an ibo man fabricate a reliable pistol that can fire continuously without burning the firer?
Are ibos good in politics?
What exactly are ibos good at? Sports? No you are not. Don’t start with football cos you are dead on arrival. Boxing? Your last hero was Dick Tiger, bless him. Yorubas rule in boxing. Fact...Joshua, google it and tell me one Ibo man who can be brave enough to square a Yoruba man in a proper duel.
Table tennis?? Which ibo man can handle a bat?
You always shout ‘this is not 1967’. When the python csme down, it swallowed your dilektor and his piglets. Has any of you made any noise since then? Where are your ‘gucci’ f rags’.?
Where are your rabbis? Buratai used them to make his suya and rabbit stew.
All you people should just shut up. Yes, we are not good at anything. Can you now let us go and have our Biafra? |

18-year old Biomedical Engineering PhD student, Nkechinyere Ogbolo dropped by our office to talk about her journey, and what’s next after the release of her debut book, “Tales of an Uber minor in college.” Here's how our chit-chat session went. More21 Dec “Does she have two heads?” Nkechinyere Chidi-Ogbolo is that kind of child who parents would use as a reference when advising their own kid, because she has proven to be a whiz-kid. At 18-years, Nkechinyere already has a Chemical Engineering degree from Howard University, Washington D.C, and is presently a PhD student at the University of California.
The depth of her accomplishment piques the interest of many. How did she do it? What inspires her? How has her journey been so far? These questions and more were answered by Nkechinyere in her debut book “Tales of an Uber minor in college,” which was launched in partnership with GTBank at the Muson Centre on the 19th of December, 2017.
Recently, Nkechinyere dropped by our office to talk about her journey, and what’s the next big thing she’s working on. Here’s how our chit-chat session went;
Congratulations on the successful launch of your new book “Tales of an Uber minor in college.” What is the driving force behind your success, which you have channelled into this book?
The driving force behind my success has been my support system, most especially my parents. My mom has always been there for me and she was the one who suggested I compile my story into a book to possibly inspire people that have doubts about achieving the same or similar things I achieved because they don’t have the privilege background that other people have.
Nkechi and some students at GTBank YouRead Initiative
What’s the one message you want young people to take from your book?
Information is a weapon and it’s up to you to use it, so as long as people don’t have access to information they are unlikely to do well. It’s important to have mentors and people in your life who will be your support system and it’s equally important to have a connection and relationship with your parents so they could help guide you. In situations where your parents are barely around, you can find other people within the community that will be your support system. If I can be that support system that will, of course, be great.
Has writing this book changed you in any way?
While writing the book, it dawned on me how much I’ve changed since my freshman year in college. Seeing my growth on paper was interesting. I don’t think the person who wrote the book is the same person I am today. Sometimes, I read it and say to myself, I wrote that? Did I have to tell everyone my business like that? (laughs).
You are a chemical engineer graduate currently doing your PhD in medical research and now you’ve added author to your feather. This raises that popular question we are asked in our younger years “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
(laughs) I do plan to do medical research long term. I’ll also have a lot of things to do on the side, I’m going to have a foundation to help young people empower themselves, there’s probably going to be a musical journey too because I do want to sing as well. There are a few other things but the main thing will be my medical research.
What are your other interests and passion outside your academic pursuits?
I love to sing. Singing makes me happy. I have a karaoke app on my phone that I use to sing whenever I want to de-stress. I also love to watch movies especially K-dramas, Korean movies are my favourite!
You’ve said Information is a weapon. What other topics and issues do you hope to tackle in your future books?
I’m hoping to tackle inequality, for people not to neglect other people in other positions because that can result in frustration and anger. That’s something my mom is very passionate about. I also hope to change the mindsets of people who think they can’t achieve something or get to a certain place because they feel they are lacking something. I want them to know they need not create a ceiling over themselves. Their dreams and goals are possible.
GTBank is committed to talented young individuals like Nkechinyere Ogbolo and to that regards is giving out her book to thousands of young people for FREE. Kindly mention someone, in the comment box, who needs to be inspired by this amazing book. https://635.gtbank.com/2017/12/meet-nkechinyere-chidi-ogbolo-18-year-old-whiz-kid/

FlirtyKaren: GTBank has released detailed report of their transaction with Innoson Motors CEO, Innocent Chukwuma that led to his EFCC arrest. Read below:
1. GTBank has stated they are not behind Innoson Motors CEO, Innocent Chukwuma’s arrest.
2. Rather, the EFCC has announced they arrested Innocent Chukwuma over a N1.4bn fraud and usage of forged documents to secure tax waivers.
3. True story how Innoson vs GTBank war started: In 2009, GTBank granted Innoson several credit facilities (i.e loans) totalling N2,400,000,000,00 (two billion, four hundred million Naira only), to part finance working capital requirements, import new motorcycles and motorcycle spare parts, agricultural spare parts and plastic manufacturing equipment (“Imported Goods”).
4. Under the loan terms agreed by Chief Innocent Chukwuma on behalf of Innoson, proprietary interest in the Imported Goods was consigned exclusively in favour of the Bank. This means that the Bank was the exclusive owner of the Imported Goods. Accordingly, the original shipping documents (i.e. the Bills of Lading) were in the custody of the Bank, and have remained in the custody of the Bank at all times.
5. Because GTBank was the exclusive owner of the imported goods, ownership of the goods could only be transferred to Innoson (or any other third party) by the Bank. The condition in the agreement between the Bank and Innoson, for the release of the Imported Goods by the Bank to Innoson, was the payment of 25% of the value of each Letter of Credit transaction by Innoson.
6. Innocent Chukwuma approached the Bank, on behalf of Innoson, requesting the release of the shipping documents without payment of the agreed+ 25% equity. The Bank declined his request as a result of Innoson’s failure to meet the agreed conditions.
7. It came to the Bank’s knowledge sometime in June, 2011 that the Imported Goods for which the Bank declined to release shipping documents to Innoson in view of its failure to meet the agreed conditions, had been fraudulently procured by Innoson.
8. The Bank discovered that Innoson, under the control of Dr. Innocent Chukwuma had forged the Bank’s endorsement on the bills of lading to the Shipping Line and fraudulently cleared the Imported Goods which were in the name of the Bank.
9. The Imported Goods, being property of the Bank should not have been cleared from the Port without the original shipping documents being endorsed by the Bank in favour of Innoson, or any third party.
10. The signatures of 4 (four) staff of the Bank, to wit, Taofeek Olalere, Dan Attah, Bunmi Adeyemi and Amazu Amalachukwu, as well as the Bank’s stamp were forged on all the shipping documents used by Innoson to fraudulently clear goods at the port.
11. The Bank did not at any time endorse or transfer the shipping documents to Innoson, as the originals of each of the relevant Bill of Lading remain in the Bank’s custody to this very day.
12. When the Bank reported the matter to the Nigeria Police, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma claimed the Bank released the shipping documents to him.
13. Consequently, the Police commenced investigation into the Bank’s complaint, including a forensic examination of the disputed signatures, and established that the signatures of the Bank’s staff were forged, and the Imported Goods were fraudulently cleared from the Nigerian Ports Authority by Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and his accomplices.
14. Police investigations confirmed that Innoson and Dr. Innocent Chukwuma deliberately set out to defraud, steal from the Bank and convert the Imported Goods belonging to the Bank by deceptive means and through forgery and misrepresentation.
15. The unlawful takeover of the Imported Goods, which served as the Bank’s collateral, left an indebtedness in excess of the sum of N1,654,481,895.04 (one billion, six hundred and fifty four million, four hundred and eighty one thousand, eight hundred and ninety five Naira, four Kobo) as at September 26, 2012.
16. Chief Innocent Chukwuma was arrested and interrogated by operatives of the EFCC, following which he agreed to make monthly payments into Innoson’s account until the full liquidation of Innoson’s indebtedness to the Bank.
17. However, Innoson defaulted in making the agreed payments.
18. Investigations by the Nigeria Police following a petition by the Bank in September 2013 also found Innoson and Chief Innocent Chukwuma culpable of the criminal allegations levied against them by the Bank, and Chief Innocent Chukwuma was accordingly charged to court by the Police.
19. The Police filed Charge No. FHC/L/565C/2015-Inspector General Of Police And Innoson Nigeria Limited; Innocent Chukwuma; Charles Chukwuma; Maximian Chukwura; Mitsui Osk Lines; Annajekwu Sunny for fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, conversion, stealing and conspiracy presently pending before Faji J, at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi and adjourned to November 21, 2017 for arraignment/or hearing of motion for issuance of Bench Warrant.
20. What Innoson did next - Innoson approached the Bank for a reconciliation of his account and pleaded for a debt forgiveness.
21. A reconciliation was carried out on the account – which had a debit balance of N1,654,481,895.04 as at December 31, 2011. In the spirit of amicable resolution and EFCC intervention, the Bank said it agreed to forego the sum of N559,374,072.09 which represented default charges that has accrued on the account and debited in line with the loan agreement between the customer and the Bank.
22. Based on this, the Bank decided to accept from the customer, the sum of N1,095,107,822.95 as full and final payment of the customer’s indebtedness to the Bank, provided that same shall be fully paid not later than (30) days from the date of the letter written to him.
23. Surprisingly, Innoson commenced suit no:FHC/AWK/CS/2012 against the Bank at the Federal High Court, Awka stating the bank had debited its account with excess charges totalling N559,374,072.09 and obtained judgement in excess of N4.7Billion against the Bank.
24. Again choosing to dishonour an agreement that was amicably reached between him and the Bank for a full and final settlement of N1,095,107,822.95 wherein the Bank graciously forgave him the sum of N559,374,072.09 which accrued on his account during the period which he abandoned his account.
25. To further stall the criminal proceedings against him, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and his company instituted suits at the Federal High Court, Abuja, as well as the Federal High Court, Awka in January 2014 against The Inspector General of Police, The Nigeria Police Force and Investigating Officer(s), seeking declaratory and injunctive reliefs, including orders restraining the Police from commencing criminal proceedings against Innoson and Chief Innocent Chukwuma.
26. Furthermore, in a bid to stall the Bank’s recovery steps, and distract the Bank from focusing on the criminal action, as well as civil actions filed for recovery of the debt, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and his company Innoson, have continued to institute various spurious suits before various courts, claiming frivolous and outrageous sums against the Bank.
27. What EFCC is Saying - they have released Nnewi, Anambra-State born Industrialist, Chief Innocent Chukwuma on bail.
28. ''The business man who runs a local auto assembly plant was arrested on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at his Enugu residence, following his refusal to respond to invitations by the Commission, after initially being granted administrative bail by the Commission, while his surety could also not be found.
29. “Unfortunately the industrialist resisted arrest and stirred controversy by bringing six truck-loads of thugs to block the entrance to his Plot W1, Industrial Layout, Abakaliki Road, Emeni, Enugu, home.
30. “This was after he initially misled the Police Command by informing them that his home had been invaded by armed robbers and kidnappers despite the fact that operatives of the Commission duly identified themselves to policemen guarding his home.
31. “His unruly thugs encircled and manhandled operatives of the Commission who had gone to effect the arrest. Consequently, a distress call was sent to the Commission’s Enugu Office for reinforcement.
32. “In all of this, the Commission’s operatives acted with decorum and civility. No one was manhandled or assaulted by the EFCC team, and not a single shot was fired, despite the provocation.
33. “Chief Chukwuma and his brother, Charles Chukwuma (who is still at large), are being investigated by the Insurance and Capital Market Fraud Section of the Commission’s office in Lagos over matters bordering on N1, 478, 366, 859.66 fraud and forgery.
34. ‘The industrialist, among other infractions, allegedly used forged documents to secure tax waivers.”
35. After Innoson Motors's CEO, Innocent Chukwuma was arrested, his company took the battle to social media. Immediately, numerous sponsored social media campaigns against the Bank such as #BewareOfGTBank and #WhatIsWrongWithGTBank sprang up.
36. The company Innoson also went on Television, with its owner, Dr Innocent Chukwuma granting an interview to TVC, where he claimed he had obtained a judgement of N8bn against the bank. He added that the bank pleaded with him over their inability to pay, and that he graciously offered to accept shares of the bank as payment.
37. GTBank on their part has chosen to remain silent on the matter, perhaps trusting in the integrity of the legal system.
38. A staff of the bank who spoke under anonymity, stated: “Irrespective of the issues we are facing with the company, Innoson remains a customer of the bank and we owe him a duty of confidentiality and to conduct ourselves in a responsible manner towards him”.
39. In responding to Innoson’s motion for a stay of criminal proceedings at the Court of Appeal, the Honourable Justice J.S Ikyegh on September 17, 2017 dismissed the motion for being unmeritorious and ordered that proceeding in the criminal case against Innoson should proceed.
40. On October 12, 2017, the Police through its Charge No. FHC/L/565C/2015- filed an application for the issuance of bench warrant against Innocent Chukwuma; Charles Chukwuma and Annajekwu Sunny for fraudulent clearance of goods, forgery, conversion, stealing and conspiracy presently pending before Faji J, at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi and adjourned to Decemeber 8, 2017 for arraignment/or hearing of motion.

Politics › EFCC Took Me Away In Pyjamas Like Criminal – Innoson by jamesibor(op): 5:18am On Dec 22, 2017 |
EFCC took me away in pyjamas like criminal – Innoson chief Innocent Chukwuma By Ebere Chukwu - December 21, 2017 - Advertisement - The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, who was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday got a heroic welcome Thursday by members of his staff and kinsmen from Nnewi at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport as he returned. EFCC officials from Lagos had invaded the Enugu residence of Chukwuma on Tuesday morning, arrested and detained him at their Enugu office before whisking him away to Lagos on Wednesday where they later released him on bail. The anti-graft agency claimed that Chukwuma was arrested following “his refusal to honour an invitation by the commission having earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him in a case being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the Commission’s Lagos office.” But the industrialist and auto manufacturer told newsmen at the airport that he was not guilty of any of the allegations leveled by the EFCC. “I still maintain that my arrest was illegal, as there was never a period that EFCC under the leadership of Ibrahim Magu invited me for any reason. In due time, I will tell Nigerians the whole truth about this matter. I intend to work faithfully with the EFCC on this alleged investigation so as to clear my name which has been badly damaged, and I will follow up this so-called investigation to its logical conclusion,” he assured. Narrating how the operatives of the EFCC arrested him, he said: “First of all, I want to thank all Nigerians who stood by me, because GTBank wrote a false petition against me. The EFCC came to my house, jumped over the fence of my compound and whisked me away, but all Nigerians refused to accept this. “So, I am thanking everybody who fought in this matter because I was surprised when the EFCC jumped into my compound very early in the morning. When I saw them, I thought they were kidnappers or armed robbers, only to notice that they were actually from the EFCC. “Immediately I saw them around 5:30a.m, I hid for over two hours until when the weather became a little bit clearer around 7:30am, when I was able to see that they were putting on police uniform. Suddenly, I began to hear gunshots and that was when I realized that many policemen had come into my compound, and that was when I came out of my hideout. - Advertisement - “When I came out, they said they wanted to arrest me and that they are from the EFCC. I followed them to their office in Enugu, but up till now, they have not told me my offence.” The Innoson boss who was later flown to Lagos said that on arrival at the EFCC Lagos office, the operatives asked him to go without telling him what his offence was. “They arrested me like a criminal, I was putting on the pajamas I woke up in and was taken to the airport on shorts and singlet, from there to Lagos, I am just returning from Lagos now,” he said. He insisted that he was never invited by the EFCC, saying “nobody invited me, nobody got me informed prior to my arrest. If they had invited me or written any letter to me, I would have honoured the invitation because I am a genuine businessman and industrialist. I don’t have anything in my cupboard to hide. And that is why I insisted they should tell me what I did, but till now I haven’t been told my offence.” Chukwuma disclosed that when he was released at the EFCC Lagos office, he refused to leave the office until he was told his offence, adding that “they had to beg me before I left.” He said that he would make sure that the commission explains why they got him arrested, saying that “I have never in my life owed any tax, I pay all my taxes and all my duties. I am a genuine businessman and industrialist, I have a history in my business.” He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers from across the country and other Nigerians for their support in kicking against his illegal arrest, which he pointed out contributed to his release. Some of his workers and kinsmen who spoke at the airport said that they came to show solidarity to their boss and brother over his ordeal in the hands of the EFCC. The workers described him as genuine businessman who has helped the government to reduce unemployment in the country, saying that his arrest was a wicked act. https://www.today.ng/news/nigeria/44529/efcc-pyjamas-criminal-innoson-chief-innocent-chukwuma?utm_source=TDYTW&utm_medium=twitter |

Foreign Affairs › Palestinians In Jerusalem: UN Vote 'pointless Exercise' - Aljazeera by jamesibor(op): 10:37pm On Dec 21, 2017 |
Palestinians in Jerusalem: UN vote 'pointless exercise' 21 DECEMBER 2017 As UN General Assembly rejects Trump's Jerusalem decision, Palestinians say two-state solution is long gone. The non-binding measure passed at a UN General Assembly emergency meeting on Thursday with 128 votes in favour [AFP] byZena Tahhan Palestinian leaders have hailed the result of a vote at the UN rejecting a unilateral US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, calling it proof of international support for "justice". "The international community has unequivocally proved that it will not be intimidated or blackmailed, and its members will defend the global rule of law," Hanan Ashrawi, a senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said in a statement after Thursday's vote. But for many on the ground, the resolution approved by the UN General Assembly was nothing more than a symbolic act. "It's a pointless exercise," Amany Khalifa, a political activist in Jerusalem, told Al Jazeera. "The Palestinian Authority (PA) has to evaluate the whole diplomatic process of going to the UN. The experience we've had is that for decades now these resolutions have not changed anything." Breaking with decades of US policy in favour of a two-state solution, President Donald Trump on December 6 said Washington would formally recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and would start the process of moving its embassy to the city. The declaration dealt a blow to the Palestinian leadership, which for more than two decades has unsuccessfully attempted to establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. When a US veto at the UN Security Council earlier this week blocked the same draft resolution from passing, the PA decided to take the issue to the General Assembly, where the resolutions are non-legally binding. "We will take political, diplomatic and legal actions against Trump's declaration regarding Jerusalem," Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the PA, said. But Khalifa believes that "the only ones who are still talking about the two-state solution are the PA". It is "in their interest to maintain this discourse", she said. "If they don't do so, they will cease to exist." The PA, which administers pockets of the occupied West Bank, says that the only answer to the more than 70-year-old conflict is the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside the existing Israeli one. But since the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993, meant to lead to the formation of that Palestinian state on the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation of these territories has only intensified, making it difficult for Palestinians to envision such a solution. Currently, between 600,000 to 750,000 Israeli citizens - or 11 percent of the Israeli population - live in the occupied territories. Guarded by heavily armed Israeli soldiers, they have taken up large swathes of Palestinian private land and are. At least 12 such settlements have been built around and in the heart of Palestinian neighbourhoods in Jerusalem. Amid this reality, as well as dwindling hopes of Israel ever withdrawing its settlers, some say it is time for a different approach. "People are already living in the reality of settlements and they see that such a solution is impossible to be achieved on the ground," said Khalifa. "We need to accept that there is one state - the Zionist one - and then we can talk about finding other means of resistance - not clinging on to the two-state solution," she added. 'Oslo ruined us' Jerusalem's religious significance to Islam, Christianity and Judaism makes it by default more than just a local issue. For many on the outside, particularly in Muslim-majority countries, Trump's Jerusalem declaration was outrageous. Since his decision, there have been rallies across major international cities, with tens of thousands turning up to protest and asking him to rescind his decision. There have also been protests across the Palestinian territories, following calls by political leaders, with at least 10 people killed by the Israeli army. However, those on the ground say that the response has not been as strong as the more grassroots protests witnessed in Jerusalem in July against Israel's installation of metal detectors at the entrances to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound. "If you ask any of the guys protesting, they'll tell you: 'Trump wasn't any new news for us'," Mariam Barghouti, a West Bank-based writer and political activist told Al Jazeera after attending a rally on Wednesday, adding that the demonstrators are mostly affiliated with the PA. "There's no momentum." A reason for this, says Nora Sub Laban, a resident of the Old City - which hosts Jerusalem's major religious sites - is that Trump's decision reflected an already existing but painful truth. "When our leadership said it would accept a two-state solution, what was left for us to say? Oslo ruined us. We are surrounded by settlements from all sides and nothing is left for us of Jerusalem," Sub Laban, who fought a long legal battle with Israeli settlers who wanted to take over her home, told Al Jazeera. She explained that while she does not believe in splitting Jerusalem for an Israeli and Palestinian state, many have lost hope and will accept anything they can get. "Our demands have continued to decrease as time goes on. And the international community has only let Israel grow stronger - from 1948 until today," she added, referring to the year of Israel's establishment, known to Palestinians as the Nakba - when more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their homeland to make way for the Jewish state. Heart of the conflict The issue of Jerusalem has been at the heart of the conflict since its start. When the UN proposed to partition historic Palestine into "Jewish" and "Arab" states in 1947, Jerusalem was meant to remain under the control of the UN due to its religious importance. But a year later, the newly-established state of Israel seized the western half of the city and declared ownership over it. In 1967, Israel annexed the eastern half of the city and claimed it as part of Israel - unlike the West Bank, which it physically occupies but does not claim. The majority of the international community does not recognise Israel's ownership of Jerusalem. As a result, all embassies in Israel are located in Tel Aviv. Despite the international position, Israel has only consolidated its control over the city. In 2002, it began building a separation wall cutting off the 3.1 million Palestinians in the occupied West Bank from Jerusalem. Many have not been able to enter the city for more than a decade and have stopped trying to, owing to the restrictions enforced by the Israeli army. In addition, the PA is not allowed any presence or authority over the eastern half of the city, where some 420,000 Palestinians live in limbo - not citizens of Israel, nor Palestine. "The international community only believe in the rights of Palestinians on paper - not in reality," Mohammad Abu al-Hummos, a Fatah-affiliated activist in Jerusalem, told Al Jazeera. "Not one decision taken against Israel has actually been applied on the ground," he added. "Some of us believed in the two-state solution - and our leadership convinced us of it - but unfortunately, if you look at the situation today, it's pointless to do so." 989900: I was going to emphasize the above too (exchange rate), however, don't you think the exchange rate increase and recession would have affected the volume of imports?
The news while seemingly good, needs a rather in depth forensic analysis.
P.S. NCS generated N977b in 2014. Whichever way you look at it, it's a poor performance. |

webincomeplus: Imports might have picked up in the sense that importers have started business again. But in terms of quantity, many haven't bounced back.
For example, car dealers are still importing cars, but the quantity has reduced drastically. Not just because of dollar increase, but also because internal demand for goods is low. All in all, the marginal increase eis still poor when you convert the figure to dollars. |
