It’s Monday morning again and it’s the harmattan season. This season brings along with it alot of memories. I’ve learnt alot and I am a survivor. This season brings alot of fears and tears with it. It was during this same harmattan season and on a Monday that I met Amara and it is this same season that I lost her. Living without Amara is more like living an unfulfilled and empty life because without her I won’t be here.

I am back from the hospital and I’m recovered and on my feet again. I was not able to attend Amara’s burial because she was buried immediately....

Things have fallen apart

I could hear faint sounds of how people tried to pull me out of the car wreckage. I still remembered although not vividly how I was put in another car and rushed to a nearby hospital. Some people recognized me and soon the information reached my parents and family that I’ve been involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed 6 persons lives.

I was just fortunate to be alive. I was rushed to the emergency unit. In few minutes my parents and family members rushed to the hospital including Amanda and her father. I could hear voices around me and I felt bad. “so I’m still alive? Why didn’t I just die? God why did you spare my life?”. I really wanted to die and be gone. After all I’ve lost everything that brought me happiness and joy, Amara. I was transfered to the intensive care unit and a special and private ward was paid for me to stay all alone.....

Amara was already in my street and by then Amanda was already worried about my unsettling attitude. I told her a friend of mine was coming around to check up on me. And that I wanted to see her. She started to ask too many questions and I wasn’t comfortable with it… Besides I didn’t want to eat. So I left to go outside to welcome Amara. Amanda was waiting to see who it was. As soon as I heard the sound of the car outside I rushed to see who it was.....

Amara came out of the car and jumped on my body and gave me a kiss. Amanda was watching through....

Have you ever been in love?

Months have passed and things are going so great. I have gotten my job with my father’s connection in another oil company and it’s so beautiful to have everything I ever wanted to have. Amara’s waec result just came out and she made it. I was so happy that I fulfilled one of the promises I made to her if she did well in her exams.

I bought her a laptop and I promised to see her through her university education in any university of her choice no matter what it Will cost me...And without wasting anymore time I started by registering her for the upcoming jamb exam. Her siblings, two brothers and one sister were all going to school now and they were doing well too..

When love meets hate....


Moving into my new mansion was a dream come true for me and having my privacy is something I’ve always dreamt of. And you know what? My little cousin cried her eyes out because she wanted to come stay with me. Her wish was granted and my sweet little cousin of 12 moved in with me. We are like 5 and 6 and she is so brilliant.

That day Amanda came to my house after the house warming party to stay a little with me. I wondered why she didn’t show up at the party.

She had bruises on her face and when I asked she said “I had a fall”. Well that’s not my business and after everyone was gone she made her way to my room. Before I could clean up and come upstairs she was already wearing my extra large T shirt and lying on my bed. I was disturbed. First of all she didn’t show up when others did and now she just went to my own personal room to cool off. Of all 5 rooms in the mansion why my own room....

On getting home we were greeted to this large family all waiting for us as if I’ve committed the worst crime on earth. The news went round that the only son of Gburugburu had rescued a poor widow and had bought her a new home. News spread faster than anything and it was no surprise that my dad and mom were getting calls from so called well meaning friends to ascertain the level of truth of the news they were hearing.

Everyone was already seated in the sitting room waiting for My arrival as if I was to grant a press conference. I am fully dressed for my first date with the Senator’s daughter Amanda. Earlier that day I had gone to the akara woman with the hope of seeing Amara but had to wait for about an hour without seeing her. Her mom said she really works so hard and wouldn’t return until she sells everything. I, out of my generosity bought almost everyone I saw around there akara and this woman was so happy because she ended up selling all her akara and was ready to leave for the day with the intention of returning to continue that night.

I left without seeing Amara. But I was glad I did help her mom sell all her akara. Amanda had called earlier to ask that we had dinner in a very expensive restaurant that night by 7pm. My dad and mom were aware and were very happy because they loved her so much. My sisters brought me the latest designer suits. It was only my cousin sister that would not smile because she didn’t really like Amanda. In her opinion she is a very flamboyant and authoritative person.

Love they say is sweeter when you fall in love with the right person”… This statement is something that I grew up with and it has been working for me. Although I am a ladies guy but I always like to keep my self respect especially because I respect the women folks a lot and wouldn’t want to play games with them. So it is not everyone that shows interest in me that I would want to date.
I can just be nice and then it ends there. I remember once in my school in America when a very beautiful black American girl was all over me and wanted to be my girlfriend. I had to maintain boundaries and didn’t allow it go beyond mere friendship. Few weeks later a guy was shot and killed. When we asked I was made to understand that the guy had dated her for some weeks and this girl’s boyfriend who was part of a dreaded cult group tracked the poor boy and killed him for dating his girlfriend.......

Sh-it’ he’d totally forgotten what he’d
come for.
“Hi” Deifa greeted her looking from her to
him and back.
“Hi” she replied back while fixing him with
a pointed glare that showed she was mad
as hell. “TK what’s taking you so long”
“I’m sorry, I got caught up.” He apologised
looking guilty as hell, he’d left his
girlfriend alone, half aroused and had
come down here to gist!
Heads were going to roll, his would be
first. She turned and left. He hurriedly pulled
off the mitts and dropped them next to the
trays. “Sorry, gotta go.”
“Sure.” She replied and he thought he saw
a hint of a smile playing on her lips but he
didn’t have the time to confirm. Quickly,
he grabbed the champagne bottle and
glasses before running after his girlfriend.
When he got into the room, she’d already
turned on the tv.

Edna smiled as she ended the call with her
son. He was on his way he’d said although
he would be a bit late, he had to drop off

driver. He was doing her a favour since
her driver was on sick leave.

She was a very proud mother. The boy had grown up to be everything any woman
wanted in a son, a good heart, put others
before himself and really hardworking. He
had been a blessing since the first moment
she’d held him in her arms. He’d been a
good child and now he was a good,
promising young man. He had the heart of
his mother and would make a great
husband to a lucky girl, she was very sure
of it.

been bitten on them all day and now she
felt like a total wreck because of this thing
with Osaze that had been on her mind
since the day before. She would never
have thought he could be such a monster.
After years of dating, it was as if her eyes
had just been opened.

She’d thought they’d
shared a bond especially as he hadn’t
pressured her into sex. She’d thought he
was patient and understanding as not
many guys would agree to a relationship
like that. She had thought him to be one of a kind when infact he’d been fooling her
and getting his action from other girls.



Glancing at the bedside clock, she saw the
time was six pm. Lisa had told her not to
worry but how could she not? She had no
faith that whatever Lisa did could stop
Osaze. He would always get his way one
way or another.
Getting up from bed, finally since

trying to relax by listening to her IPod but
wasn’t succeeding. Thoughts of Osaro filled
her head, she’d been avoiding his calls
since she’d caught him red handed with
that tart Mira at the A- Lounge bar. Who
would have thought that changing her
mind to surprise that lying cheating
boyfriend of hers would end up surprising
her instead?...
He’d called her over a million times since but she wasn’t ready to listen to him yet.

The question plaguing her since was what
Lisa had asked her after she’d told her the
news of what she’d seen with her own two
eyes.

Did she still feel so strongly for him? She
hadn’t had an answer right at that moment
and she still didn’t have one yet. She felt
anger, she was really pissed for being
foolish but did she hate him? she wasn’t
sure yet, needed more time to confirm
