Osas prided himself on his ruggedly
handsome good looks. He could get any
damn girl he pleased so why did Deifa act
like she could boss him around? The girl

sorry as he always did, for the insults he’d

He felt it was dangerous heading home with all the Evidence in our possession.
At the hotel, we brought out the file containing my Dad’s asset. Richard was into land and properties managment so Bayo handed him the documents so he can ascertain if it was the original copies and how much they were worth......

After two days rest Bayo announced that we should get on with the investigation. He wanted me to involve the police so they can re-open my parents murder case but I refused. We didn’t have enough evidence.

Though I had few documents stating the fact that they were murdered because of an information in their possession. But I have no idea what the information was or who was responsible...

I told them we needed more information before we can go to the police. Everyone agreed after a while. They were scared for my safety but I didn’t care. All I want was justice to be served to those responsible.

One day, on my way to the market to get some food stuffs. I discovered Ijeep. Ever since Bayo’s incidence I was careful, I watched every street corner, every cars and faces around me. But I didn’t see anything suspicious until this particular day.

We checked Bayo for a pulse and thankfully it was there though very faint. We rushed him into our car and Drove him to the nearest hospital.

After examining Bayo, the doctor told us he was drugged with a very dangerous chemical and his body reacted badly to it, he has been comatose for 3days without food or water that’s why he had weak pulse. After speaking with the Doctor, I went to Bayo’s ward to check on him. Richard and christy went home to freshen up.....

The third day came yet no news from Bayo. This was unlike him. “Richard we need to look for Bayo”. I said. Christy agreed with me.

The journey to lagos.....


The moment we left mr Christopher office, I knew something was not right. Something didn’t add up. But I could not place my finger on it.

We got to our hotel very late, we were tired and hungry, we didn’t say much on the way. We needed to rest and analyze all we have discovered so far.

We entered our room and I saw aunt christy new husband on the sofa beside him sat Bayo grinning from ear to ear. I just stood there in a jumble of emotions. I was happy, shy, in love, surprised and so on and so forth.

Aunt christy was already in the arms of her husband in seconds. While Bayo and I just stood there staring at each other. He took the first step and I followed suit. It was easier talking to him on phone than standing in his presence I realized.



We walked the rest of the way and he said “I missed you” I missed you too I replied. He hugged me and I saw in his eyes he wanted to do more than hug me but he was a man of principles. My respect for him grew by just that simple restraint......

To find J.P Okon, I would have to travel to Ogun state. My Dad said not to trust anyone, I would have to be very careful when I find mr Okon.

I called aunt christy to tell her of my discovery. she told me to close up the shops and travel down to illorin (where she was having her honeymoon) to meet her then both of us would go in search of answers together. I told her not to worry that I could do it alone but she would not hear of it. I didn’t want to involve her, she just got married besides it could be dangerous. But when she sets her mind to something its hard to change it. So I had no choice than to do as she said.

We arrived Ogun state on Monday got booked in to a nice Hotel and immediately went in search of mr Okon’s address. It took a while but we eventually found it. “No: E6 Abeokuta street, Kamal office complex secondfloor. Ogun state Nigeria”
The complex was really huge, Mr Okon’s office was on the second floor. But we had no idea which office was his. The entire second floor was occupied by a law firm as we were earlier told by the security men at the gate. We approached a lady seated behind a desk, a secretary perhaps ” please we would like to see mr J.p okon” I said. She looked confused for a while and answered ” madam there is no one by that name here” I turned to aunt christy for help.” he might not be here presently but he worked here some years back. Can you help us check him out please” asked aunt christy. The secretary looked at us suspiciously and told us to wait for her to confirm from her Boss who is a partner of this law firm.
She came back and told us her boss would like to see us......

Mr Dimples stretch forth his hand to help me up from the floor but I refused. “Have you not heard the word sorry before” I asked, he just smiled left me there and walked to one of the cars parked outside to retrieve what ever he came to pick. I stood up dust myself and rushed into the house murmuring to myself.

” What did you just say” asked aunt christy. ” I didn’t realized I was talking out loud I replied. All through the ceremony I didn’t come out, I pretended to be busy so as to avoid mr Dimples or whatever his name was.

As the introduction ceremony came to an end. Aunt christy called me out to introduce me to her fiancé’s family. Standing right beside her husband to be was mr Dimples. ” Happy I want you to meet my hubby’s best friend Bayo, Bayo this is my sister Happiness”

“Nice to meet you happiness” Bayo said, “you didn’t sound happy this afternoon though” he continued. “Oh you’ve already met her” said aunt christy. ” Not really” I answered quickly.

All through the traditional wedding I pretended not to notice Bayo. I didn’t understand the feelings he evoked in me. So the best I could do was avoid him. If I see him coming my way I changed direction.

We played cat and mouse for awhile until he cornered me at the bachelors Eve. “Why are you avoiding me” asked Bayo. ” Why would I avoid you” I lied. “When a woman avoids a man it either means she Hates him or like him” he moved close and asked ” do you hate me or like me”. ” I am… am.. I am sorry I don’t know what you mean” I stammered and walked away......

The turning point....

Life continued for me, God gave me favor everywhere I went. My past became only a sad memory. Aunty christy opened two more business centers and ask me to run one of them. She told me I was good luck but I knew God blessed her because she was a kind soul.

I blossomed into an attractive woman, God made me an envy among my peers. Having excellent grades made me the favorite of all the lecturers. I didn’t have time to Date in school, guys were even afraid to approach me. They see me as a nerd. I have a set routine, from class to work and later to church.......

I fell on my knees and begged mrs Badmos. “mummy please forgive me if I did anything wrong.” i pleaded.
Beat me, punish me but please don’t send me away”.
She was soo angry, all the Hatred she had for me came rushing out. She told me how she wanted me gone the first day but her husband threatened to end their marriage. She told yemisi to pack my things cause I was on my knees pleading with her to let me stay.

Yinka came in from school as they were dragging me out “mum what did she do, leave her alone mum please stop it” yemisi shouted at her to keep shut but she didnt. ” You are wicked she screamed” they turned on her gave her severe beating and locked her up in her room.

They came back for me dragged me to the gate and told the gate man never to let me in. I looked around and discovered I was back to square one. I cried and screamed God why me. My name is happiness but why do I get only sorrows. I cried till all the tears in my eyes dried up.

After seating down at the gate for hours. I decide to move on. I looked at my stuff and was grateful to see my dads bag along with my few possession. Its the only reminder I have of my dead parents and I didn’t want to lose it. Besides my admission letter was in the bag.....

A letter came in from my school that I had been awarded a scholarship due to excellent performance in school.
I was happy and over joyed, I had something to live for.

As years past on God gave me the strength to bear all the pain caused by my aunt. I was focused I had to be something in life, I will not give up.
My aunt passed away when I was writing my SSCE exams, I was 17 at that time.

I was all alone again. She didn’t have any children because she never married. I missed her, though she was cruel to me she provided a roof over my head and a place to call home for awhile.

Going through my aunts things when she died I came upon my fathers office bag. All the memories came back to hunt me and fresh tears fell from my eyes. I opened the bag, I saw some documents which I didn’t really understand at that time, I saw some photographs and a bunch of keys.

Few weeks following her death, I started looking for a job, I needed food and a roof over my head. Other family members refused to take me in believing that am an evil child that would bring harm to them.

On a sunday after close from church I saw a wallet on floor just outside the church. I looked around and didn’t see anyone in search of anything so I took it to our pastor. He prayed for me and thanked me. But before I left his office the owner came in......

Finally... The punishment is served.....




The nurses around quickly ran to Amelia’s side… She was unconscious. They quickly got a stretcher and wheeled her into the very same ward where Brenda was admitted.

She was placed on a bed next to Brenda. Of course, Dave and Brenda saw her. One would think they would have gloated and torn her apart but they didn’t. Despite the fact that Amelia was never good to them, they appeared to be very concerned about whatever had happened to her. Dave was asked to wait outside as they attended to Amelia.

The impact of the fall on Amelia was worse than the doctors had imagined. She began to convulse and someone sent for Dr. Sam. He rushed into the intensive care unit where Amelia was. The flexible metal spoon that had been shoved in between her teeth by the nurses was giving way as the medical team shuffled around to attend to her. They didn’t notice when she breathed her last.

They tried to revive her but Amelia was dead.
Dr. Sam’s head spun. How was it that within the space of one hour the lady who kissed him and promised him an eventful night fell slightly and died? He was shocked.

Meanwhile in Brenda’s ward, the nurse had administered her follow-up dosage of injection ordered by Dr. sam before he found himself in the ICU attending to Amelia whose body was now ice cold. Brenda too was in trouble. one of the injections already administered to her was the dosage meant to paralyze her.......

Mr Edwards was quite impressed. He offered to give Amelia a good massage for a job well done and for getting it done within the shortest possible time.
She stripped down to her underwear and Mr Edwards began massaging her back… Her heart was racing and every stroke of his hand pleasured her.

She was in her seventh heaven when Mrs Edwards suddenly barged into the hotel room.
Amelia quickly wriggled out of the bed and hurriedly dressed up but Mrs Edwards’ attention was not even on her… She was focused on her husband. She had finally caught him red-handed, confirming she hadn’t been paranoid all the while she’d been suspicious.
Mrs Edwards was very hurt.

She was the one practically taking care of the family… even the house they lived in belonged to her late Father.

“My dear wife, I’m really sorry, it’s the devil… Please forgive me” Mr. Edwards begged
Mrs Edwards: “I clothed you; put you under my roof because as old as you are you can’t even afford a house of your own. All you do is spend your money on this little thing (pointing her hand at Amelia who was hastily dressing up).”

Amelia: “Woman deal with your husband and not me, abeg”.
Having said that, she chuckled and quickly left the hotel to avoid any public drama/embarrassment. She looked so unrepentant wasn’t even remorseful.

Mrs Edwards on the other hand warned her husband to never step foot in her house again. She told him to go look for shelter with someone else.

She further assured him that she was going to seek for divorce.
She took off her wedding rings and threw them at his face. Next, she took Mr. Edwards’ car keys; his wallet, containing his ATM card and some money. Finally, she yanked his shirt and trousers, leaving him with only the boxer short he had on.
She left the hotel room and only God knows what happened to Mr. Edwards......

The Doctor felt like he had finally found the wife of his dreams… Until Amelia’s next request.
Amelia: “Sam, I want you to do something for me”
Dr Sam: “Ok… What it is you want me to do?”
Amelia: “Well, it’s a bit complicated. Give me your word first”
Dr. Sam: “Hmmmn, you have my word”
Amelia: “Good. It’s about that girl we brought here… your patient, Brenda. I want you to paralyse her!”

Sam was taken aback… Amelia was asking him to deliberately hurt someone. He was curious as to why but first, he needed to get over the shock of her request.
Dr Sam: “Seriously?! Amelia, that is totally against the ethics of my profession. Sorry, I can’t do it”
Amelia: “Sam, you gave me your word”
Dr. Sam: “Yes, because never in my wildest dreams would i have imagined you’d ask something like this of me”

Meanwhile, Dave was led to Brenda’s ward. She was lying down when he got there. He could see that the accident had a great impact on her. He went closer to her bed and took her hand.
Brenda opened her eyes to look at him. She smiled and told him she missed him. Dave advised her not to talk too much so she could conserve her energy. She, however, continued

Brenda:”I saw my Father and Amelia. I stood there, right in front of them”
Dave: “Brenda, there is a way out of this. Just please get well first baby”

The Doctor felt like he had finally found the wife of his dreams… Until Amelia’s next request.
Amelia: “Sam, I want you to do something for me”
Dr Sam: “Ok… What it is you want me to do?”
Amelia: “Well, it’s a bit complicated. Give me your word first”
Dr. Sam: “Hmmmn, you have my word”
Amelia: “Good. It’s about that girl we brought here… your patient, Brenda. I want you to paralyse her!”

Sam was taken aback… Amelia was asking him to deliberately hurt someone. He was curious as to why but first, he needed to get over the shock of her request.
Dr Sam: “Seriously?! Amelia, that is totally against the ethics of my profession. Sorry, I can’t do it”
Amelia: “Sam, you gave me your word”
Dr. Sam: “Yes, because never in my wildest dreams would i have imagined you’d ask something like this of me”

Meanwhile, Dave was led to Brenda’s ward. She was lying down when he got there. He could see that the accident had a great impact on her. He went closer to her bed and took her hand.
Brenda opened her eyes to look at him. She smiled and told him she missed him. Dave advised her not to talk too much so she could conserve her energy. She, however, continued

Brenda:”I saw my Father and Amelia. I stood there, right in front of them”
Dave: “Brenda, there is a way out of this. Just please get well first baby”

The hospital saga....



Dave saw her from a distance and tried calling but it was too late. A vehicle came out of nowhere, took a sharp turn and crashed into her. Brenda fell down with a thud…
She laid there motionless while the driver who hit her fled the scene. Mr. Wilson and Amelia came out at that moment. They had followed her when she ran out of the pub.
Dave got to the spot where Brenda laid and cried out her name, but she remained lifeless.
Dave cried like a baby as he placed her head on his chest. Oh my God!, could it be that my Brenda is dead?
He couldn’t help but thought of the worst.
“God please help me,” he silently prayed.

Mr. Wilson quickly brought his car around and together with Dave and Amelia, rushed her to the hospital.
On their way to the hospital, Mr. Wilson couldn’t think straight. He was so confused that he didn’t know where to start.
” what on earth is Brenda doing in Nigeria?,” he muttered......
