The poster above just simplified it well.

Now let me put it simply in monetary terms. Right now, I earn more than 6 times what I was earning before going to school over here.

For example if I was earning $1000 every 2 weeks before I went to school, today i earn $6000 just because I went to school and I am working with less effort but earning more.
would you classify getting a six month certification as getting a qualification or climbing the ladder?

Permit me to add some insight. To be successful in the U.S., you need to think long term. Being a corrections officer or joining the military in a non officer cadre is a good start, but you don't want to remain there. In my opinion, these jobs are a young mans game. Do you want to be working corrections and doing odd shifts in your 50's and beyond? If it's not a state position with a pension, will you earn enough to save a good amount in your 401k so you can retire when your strength or health starts to wane? In the military, the salaries are not that good compared to the private sector and the lifestyle is brutal. Looking from the Nigerian perspective, yes, they are a good start but you must look beyond the here and now.
I have friends who started in these jobs but went back to school to upgrade their educational qualifications. They are all doing very well today. The difference in income, potential and lifestyle is like night and day between both paths.
I see so in essence working those jobs are just basically a means to an end with the end result of getting more qualification/better job.
thank you for your insight

Next tip: Go to school and get an education.

Before you enter US, you must have planned that education is part of your plan in US. Education is what will protect you as a Nigerian in a foreign land.
interesting so what about those that don't go back to school but end up as correctional officers or at most join the military any part way to success for those people?

My guy, I think it’s a fair price for a 2008 Toyota Corolla. The 2005/2006 Toyota Corolla is going for 1.850M. Also, other factors such as exchange rate, duty. The exchange rate is now 449 per $ which was 359 per $ just in early March. Also, the duty for a 2008 Corolla was 500k, but now it’s 560k.
These are all factors to take into account and I hope things stabilize so we can go back to buying this Corolla for 1.8M.
Oga nobody go buy this car for that amount honestly as for the exchange rate it doesn't affect the sells of cars that landed before the lockdown

I have been enjoying this thread and this is my advice to my bros.
If you want enter yankee through AKATA, then follow the OP's rule if you want to return here a successful fella

If you want to Hustle legit, please kindly run from Akata especially those from suburbs with high school certificates. Their level of education highly contributes to their characters especially the female folks but their dramas are intact, don't just punch it bro

I prefer Jamaicans to AA any day because Jamaicans are kind hearted folks even with their craziness

Please do a plus and minus to the OP's advice and choose what suits you

SHALOM

I agree with you Jamaicans are more family oriented than Akata's Akata's are so insecured and broken to the extent that they no longer believe in love or men and they love sex too much my only problem with the every Jamaican is that they smoke weed too much and I don't like someone who smokes. boys dey suffer for all these akata women hand ooo

You know those ones can have serious internal damage too.

The only major difference is that people kinda pay more attention to details like checking the VIN and all.

When naija man went to spend millions, he automatically becomes wiser than King Solomon.
true sometimes I also feel buying a car is more or less like playing a lottery

no one should pay mudi26 any money. He is a coded scammer.

He said he is doing it for free and for humanity, lols cheap scammer. See his format

he will ask if you have a car for logistics, if u say yes, he will ask u to come to a place in town to meet someone...which is him and probably his co thiefs they can still your car or harm u. be safe.

if you don't have a car he will tell you that his friend one big man in apo legislative quarter is the one running the package on his behalf. he will then tell you that recently the man is complaining of wasting his fuel and going to offices for the sake of people he is helping. That the man wants money for logistics before anything.

Money for logistics can be from 500k down to #5,000 if you have sturbon head.

if you pay he will make you believe that they are now working on your job. Take note if you pay 5k or 10k for the man logistics just know that you are officially his ATM. he will be billing you once in a while telling you that he is working on your job and they need more logistics or whatever.

don't fall for his scam.

If you say you want to meet the man that will run the package for him(because he says he is not in Nigeria at the moment that's why the man is running things for him) he will say ; no you can't speak or meet the man that you will do everything directly with him then he can pass info to the man. Then he will ask you to make payment in his account which he will forward to the man.

don't fall mugu o desperate job seekers. see his account detail below.
I knew he was up to some thing.... Why help random people when most of his family members are jobless

More reasons why constituencies have their own representatives. If they all will be giving free job slots, e for make sense. I really envy these northerners who believe in the spirit of brotherhood unlike some of our people here in the south...

yes that their primary constituents that voted them in ....the worst are the one from the east...they dont hustle jobs for their constituents ...i heard one saying he spent over 100m to win so he bought the seats so he only interested in his pockets ...but others hustle job call dusturbing dgs ,boards etc ....
yea reason why I love the core northerners. Their leaders are selfless and help a lot when it comes to employment and empowerment of their constituent.
Please can a head of agency under the presidency help for recruitment? A relative of mine heads a federal agency under the presidency in Abuja. I have been on his case for over a year now and he keeps assuring me that soonest he will help me

oga I paid 500k in 2014 and I was duped. The bitter truth is that 95% of those so called agents collecting money with the assurance of getting job are thieves preying on our vulnerability. I'm not used to sugar coating words and don't be surprised that the so called agent would have collected money from multiple applicants
