Basil Ejidike, the APC chairman in Anambra, has promised to secure lives and property if the APC governorship candidate is elected.

He stated this in Awka, claiming that security is in its lowest ebb in Anambra.

The party chieftain also blamed the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for insensitivity to the plight of people in the state.

He further alleged that political killings had resurfaced in Anambra and assured the public that APC would deploy all its arsenal to stop insecurity in the state if elected.

Mr Ejidike was speaking on the heels of the recent killing of Alex Edozieuno, a former traditional ruler of Mkpunando in Aguleri, Anambra East local government area of Anambra, and his driver, Chukwuemeka.

“Edozieuno recently joined APC and since then, as a trusted party member and grassroots person, had promised to deliver the party in his area,” he said.

The Anambra APC chairman expressed disappointment that the late traditional leader was not allowed to rest since the Anambra government dethroned him.

“The man was still serving the suspension order of the government and was replaced by another person. APGA knows his political worth and was afraid of his actions since he joined APC,” added Mr Ejidike. “Our people can talk and talk, do all sorts of things. But as Igbo, we value the sanctity of life and regard human lives. “We have never seen this type of killing in Anambra. That is why we raised the alarm.”

Governor Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe has directed government hospitals in Geidam and Damaturu to offer free treatment to residents wounded after the Nigerian Air Force airstrike killed many in Yunusari local government area.

Yunusari, which shares an international border with the Niger Republic, has an area of 3,790 km2 and a population of 125,821 according to the 2006 census.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Buni’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, in Damaturu.

The governor also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide relief materials to cater for the immediate needs of the families of the deceased persons and other members of the community.

The governor commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the Wednesday airstrikes, directing his Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Dahiru Abdulsalan, to liaise with the Nigerian Air force and the MNJTF to identify the root cause of the strike.

Human rights activist and Amnesty International designated Prisoner of Conscience, Omoyele Sowore, has chronicled over seven cases where the Department of State Services arrested innocent Nigerians on the orders of or in connection with some big men in the country.

The human rights’ activist, Sowore, in a response, catalogued some of the cases when the secret police detained Nigerians for big men, adding that the DSS was the “hushpuppi” of Nigeria’s security agencies.

He said, “In Response To Lawless DSS Threat Against Segun Adeniyi and the fact that it doesn’t detain people on behalf of Nigerian big men! These are some facts: Huge lie! The DSS is the HushPuppie of security agencies in Nigeria.

“Their directors told me that my detention was prolonged because I reported that the late Chief of Staff to Buhari, Abba Kyari collected N500million from MTN. Then they sent a delegation led by the late Isa Funtua to ask me to apologise to Muhammadu Buhari for insulting him on ARISETV. When I refused, they charged me to court with stupid charges which they later reduced to “treasonable felony.” I met a guy who was released same day as us who was jailed for eight months because he purportedly scammed his boss who is friends with the DG DSS and a director. He nearly died because he won’t eat for 21 days.

Another guy had kidney disease after a prolonged hunger strike because he was opposed to the president of Chad, Idris Derby who is also now late. What about the case of Emperor Ogbonna who was detained because he had an issue with his state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (Isi leather slippers).

PDP Crisis: Secondus Speaks Out, ‘Reveals’ The Person Trying To Hijack The Party From Him

embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has revealed that a strong chieftain of the party is trying to hijack the PDP from him.
Secondus who spoke on Wednesday alleged further that the person whom he refused to name, is working on denting his image.

The PDP chairman revealed that the person is pushing for the party to have an interim arrangement in the form of a caretaker committee so he could take over the party structures.

The alarm raised by Secondus was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, titled, ‘Who is after Secondus and why is somebody in love of caretaker?

The statement reads in part: “The media office of the National Chairman is privy to intelligence that the strong party chieftain bent on hijacking the party structure for destruction is still on the loose with the main agenda of denting the image of Prince Uche Secondus the National Chairman.

“Reports reaching this office show clearly that this character is deploying all devious means to try and diminish the person and character of the National Chairman with a view to having his way of ultimately hijacking the structure for his disproportionately large ambition.”

The Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB) has called for an end to kill­ings in some parts of Igboland un­der the guise of unknown armed men.

A statement issued by the spokes­man of the group, Emma Powerful lamented that people “who call themselves unknown armed men have been rampaging communities in Biafraland particularly killing in­nocent people in Okporo and Umu­tanze Orlu Imo State”.

Describing the killings as DSS sponsored ethnic cleansing, IPOB called for immedi­ate stoppage of “the ethnic cleans­ing or brace up for mass resistance by the people”.

The group also called on the Nigerian Police to stop parading innocent people tagged as ESN per­sonnel, saying “Nobody is looking for or missing in IPOB.”

“So, parading innocent people tagged as ESN shows that Nigeria police and army have failed,” the statement added.

“That people police and army paraded to the public are not ESN members. Nigeria must stop ridicul­ing itself globally because everyone is watching their activities.

“The Dss must release those they picked and tagged ESN operatives or charge them to court.

“If this secret genocide is not halted, both the perpetrators and their sponsors will be dealt with in no distant future.

Department of State Services Produces 12 Igboho’s Aides In Court, Bars Journalists

The Department of State Services, on Wednesday, brought all the 12 detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho to the Federal High Court Abuja before Justice Obiora Egwuatu.

Officials of the DSS also prevented journalists from entering the courtroom.

At the July 29 proceedings when the DSS was expected to produce all the 12 detainees, the agency’s lawyer, I. Awo, told the court that it only had three detainees who were apprehended at Igboho’s home in Ibadan on July 1.

The court adjourned till August 2 and restated its order compelling the DSS to produce the detainees in court.

Justice Egwuatu had berated the agency for failing to produce the applicants according to the order of the court

The detained aides of Sunday Igboho had instituted a suit against the DSS and its Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, following their arrest and detention on July 1, after the DSS’ raid of Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo state.

The applicants are Abdulateef Ofeyagbe, Amoda Babatunde, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, and Ayobami Donald.

Others are Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelimi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.

Ahmad Isah of Brekete Family has insisted that if Abba Kyari, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, who was suspended after being indicted by the United States and found guilty in an international fraud case, is found guilty in Nigeria, he may not be the only one to go down.

Isah stated this on his breakfast radio/television programme on 101.1 FM in Abuja on Wednesday morning.

“All I’m saying is that I’m not in support of Nigeria extraditing Abba Kyari to the US because Nigeria is a sovereign nation, we have our laws, the Nigeria police is very well organized.

“If eventually Abba Kyari is found guilty in Nigeria, you'll see that he will not be the only one [involved in the case].

“So we should not conclude. This is my position. Nigeria should handle it internally. Let them [US] bring their evidence, then Nigeria police can do their investigation.
