President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday appointed Alhaji Mohammed Kari as the Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive of the National Insurance Commission.

Kari replaces Mr. Fola Daniel.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the appointment, which is for a term of four years in the first instance, takes effect from Friday, July 31 2015.

The new Commissioner for Insurance started his career with Royal Exchange Assurance in 1979.

He later worked with Yankari Insurance Company until 1989, when he was appointed Executive Director in Niger Insurance Plc.

In January 1992, he was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation, a position he held until March 1993 when he was appointed Managing Director of NICON Insurance Corporation. He served in that capacity until January 2000 when he resigned.

He returned to insurance management in 2007 as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Unity Kapital Assurance Plc, where he served for four years.

A Chartered Insurer and Professional IT Consultant, Alhaji Mohammed Kari was, until his new appointment, was the Deputy Commissioner (Technical) in the National Insurance Commission.

Buhari has also renewed the appointment of Mr. Joshua Okpo as the Rector of the Maritime Academy, Oron for a second and final term of four years.

Except for settling dues & maritime fees,cos before any Vessel can load in any of Terminals the anticipated vessels marine name/capacity would have been faxed to the OC terminal/ the Host Company/Napims/DPR. So tell me how you can load any vessel Illegally from any terminal its , But from other sources its possible. Some Jan.ja weeds will flood this thread with thrash like Baba is working.

It is unfair to want to sanction Femi Fani-Kayode for alleged anti party activities. Some people have told me that the "CramJones is FFK" rumor has been a major point of discussion in the PDP. The PDP is accusing Fani-Kayode of hiding under anonymous aliasis online to leak PDP secrets. They are also accusing him of intentionally engaging in hate campaigns that made President Jonathan loose. My question is what was FFK supposed to do? Praise the opposition? This man FFK is facing a major trial on June 18th, yet after all the countless articles and press briefings he did on behalf of Jonathan they want to still axe him.

PDP will turn out to be the worst opposition in the history of Nigeria, that is if they still exist before the next election. I am not FFK's fan, but they should leave the man alone!

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has
directed the chairman of the party in Osun state to take disciplinary action against
the Director of Media and Publicity, Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-
Kayode.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Secretary of the party,
Prof. Wale Oladipo, which urged that proper disciplinary actions should be meted
against Fani-kayode through the ward for engaging in acts contrary to section 56(1)
(b) of the party constitution.

“The NWC at its meeting held on Wednesday, 20th May, 2015, reviewed the press
war mounted against the NWC by Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode,” he said.
